Re: From Vietnam
My parents were born in Vietnam, but we're chinese. They're not jay fans though :P But I got some vietnamese culture mixed in my life as well!

Re: From Vietnam
Actually, there are other Vietnamese fans in this forum too. But I guess they're not too active right now. I thought there used to be a Vietnamese thread too, but maybe it's already been deleted because it'd been inactive for so long.
Anyhow, I'm glad to know that Jay attracts so many non-Chinese fans. :)

Re: From Vietnam
part viet, part chin but im more of a chinese person personally.
is there any good pop viet singers? ive always wondered but ive never found any. i dont like vietnamese music though.
the only person i kno is trish. shes ok but all her songs sound the same. she has a voice but theres no range to it for me.
well theres lynda trang dai but shes old skool. shes in the past...pumpin up the jam as she jumps in her car.

Re: From Vietnam
There isn't a lot of Vietnamese pop singers (that are good) and Vietnamese music is kind of boring put me to sleep. I like Trish she sound really cute, but many of her songs has the same kind of tune and she always sing the same high-pitch voice and everything.

Re: From Vietnam
honestly, i hate viet music period. i just want to give them the opportunity to prove me otherwise but it hasnt happened.
wats worse is those story songs or something. i dont kno what theyre called but they start out in a regular conversation n then bust out w in song about wats goin on. bleh
n u kno those instruments that go bong bong bong when u pluck the string w ur finger. ahh. i dont think its the mandolin cause i like that. wats worse is that my dad is learnin how to play that bong bong bong w an electric guitar.
trish's 1st album...half of it was nice. the other half was not so good. after that it went downhill. all the songs sound all like cause she sings it all the same.

Re: From Vietnam
Oh yeah, the story/song with the really high-pitch singing is definitely annoying. My mother likes listening to it and she would always buy the DVDs of it. It drives me up a wall!! I guess a lot of the "elders" really enjoy listening to it.
The instrument that goes "bong bong bong"? Is it the zither? LOL No clue!! Like how many strings does it have?
I never really buy any of her single albums, I only buy those 2 CDs The Best of Trish albums.
