Jay generously donated NT$2 million for disaster relief from overseas

Source: http://news.rti.org.tw
Translation: catseyes (www.jay-chou.net)

As Typhoon Morakot resulted in a serious disaster, all the Taiwanese artistes were been mobilised to help in the disaster relief. Jay donated NT$2 million from overseas, hoping to start the ball rolling for donations and appealing to everyone to lend a helping hand. B'in Music Co. Ltd, the record label for Mayday had also followed up with a NT$2 million donation whereas S.H.E donated NT$600 thousand to World Vision, hoping to do their part to help out.

In order to help the victims of Typhoon Morakot, all the artistes did their part. Even though Jay is currently working in America, he immediately stated that he will donate NT$2 million for the disaster relief on the morning of 10th August upon hearing the news. He hopes that this will start the ball rolling for the others to donate generously and also made an appeal to everyone to lend a helping hand to the victims.

B'in Music Co. Ltd, the record label for Mayday also expressed that all their artistes under the label will donate a total of NT$2 million. Lead singer of Mayday, Ashin also donated NT$500 thousand in the name of his own brand, Stay Real. Other than monetary donation, B'in Music Co. Ltd will be manufacturing 3000 towels and more than 1000 T-shirts, hoping that it will reach the victims in the fastest time. And if time permits, they will also take part in the disaster relief activities.

In addition, HIM Music's artistes and staff will also donate an amount of NT$2 million, of which, S.H.E donated NT$600 thousand to World Vision and Seed Music's Kenji Wu did his part by donating NT$300 thousand.

Wow Jay Chou sure is a superstar! He is very generous and kind. But that shows that Jay Chou is.... err... slightly wealthier than most Taiwanese artists...

Everyone, yesterday and today, ChinaTimes newspaper reported some very disturbing news about Jay and his donations. The paper stated that Jay did not donate enough money, and 2 million was a very small amount compare to what he earns every yr. In fact, Jay donated the most amount of money compared to other singers/entertainers. And It's the thought that counts! At this point in time, we can't just sit here and read these bullcrap articles anymore. And if you read the above article, the reporter obviously was not paying attention when writing this report because it said "Alfa Music " instead of "JVR" as Jay's record label. Please show your support by commenting to the article. We need to show them that Jay and us Jay fans can't be bullied like this!!

Eh, people complain too much. Like the time Taiwan donated a bunch of rice to support African children, and then American charities criticized Taiwan for not donating enough. Uh, America takes up like a fourth of the world, and Taiwan is smaller than the state of Florida. (-__-) People need to get their facts straight. Same with Jay, $2 million is a lot of money, regardless of how much money you make.

Heartening to hear of this act of care for his community. Disheartening to hear what criticisms people can actually spout of such a gracious act.

His action speaks a thousand words. Can't we see he's giving selflessly already?

How can we measure love with the amount of money involved?

it is terrible that Jay does something amazing like this and still gets condemned by people. well i would like to see other people donate that much money to the cause!!! Jay is a great role model for people, especially when he shows his kindness and generosity like this ^^

I'm glad that he's been donating money to help with the typhoon victims. I've seen the damage done, and it's really quite terrible in Taiwan. It's been over a week now and things are still pretty wrecked there. They're still finding people who've been stranded because of the typhoon. He SHOULD be helping out his country, and I'm very glad he is. And, not to give the wrong impression, but he's not getting the ball rolling; a lot of other artists have already been donating money to Taiwan to help out, even those not from Taiwan, those not listed in this article. They all deserve some credit for helping out (granted, this is a Jay Chou fansite, so they're not expected to be mentioned).
