SHINee is a boyband by SM Entertainment who is currently promoting their sophomore album, Lucifer.

The 5-member group made their surprise debut on May 18, 2008 with the single "Noonan Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)." (SM kept SHINee's existence secret until the day before their debut!

) They later followed with their full album SHINee World (repackaged as A.Mi.Go.), and the mini-albums Romeo (Summer 2009) and 2009, Year of Us (Fall 2009).

This group initially drew comparisons to labelmates DBSK and to YG Entertainment's Big Bang in terms of style.

Even though they are similar in some ways, SHINee also has a slight Neo Soul flavor in their voices that sets them apart.

The members are:

ONEW (nee Lee Jinki)--age 20, leader and main vocalist
Kim Jonghyun--age 20, lead vocalist
Lee Taemin--age 17, vocalist and main dancer
Choi Minho--age 18, rap and vocals
KEY (nee Kim Kibum)--age 18, rapper and vocalist

What?? 14?? gosh so so young!!! sucha a baby!!! I wonder if they have enough professionalism to handle this career at sucha young age.

I have to check that video cuz...for what I can see...they do have their own style with the clothes at least but I don't like KEY's style in that picture tho.
Thanks for the info...it's always nice to know the boy bands factor is incresing every day...I don't remember so many boy bands in the past...that's why I love Asia...it's so different from America.

After watching the video...yes I think their style is kind of cool...I don't really know nothing about Big Bang so I can't really give my opinion about that but they're cool...physically I like Jonghyun but he's too young for me lol...he's cute...the cute face I love in boys.

The song is nice...and they can dance!! I love the dancing in the video but not the clothes and some scenes lol they're just too pretty hahahahahaha lol

At first when I saw their photo, I just thought what a ripoff of Big Bang that SM have made, but after I saw the MV (or at least I'm convincing my mind that) I think they've got a smoother/ child-friendly image. And plus, if they aim for similar style as say, dong bang shin ki, then they are going to have antis more than fans bashing on a second dbsk! So contemplating, good move SM. Plus, SM just wants a share on the Big Bang attention!

The song's addicting, and I made it my alarm on my phone yesterday.. Noona, obviously reaching out to us fans too? XD But seriously, 14-18? T_T Though they look sort of different, I can't tell them apart right now, so until they change their image i.e. drastic hairstyles which SM will promise, I'm not making an effort to learn their names XD I'll stick to my dong bang oppas hahaha~

I thought the same thing Dana when I first saw the preview to their song. But you're right about them being more "friendly".

Basically I think SM should stop bringing out idol groups, I mean seriously they have 14 year old in the group! His voice probably hasn't even broken yet. Also it seems strange that the group didn't have the initial "rock image" when they first debuted like most of SM's boybands.

Also, Sushii and I were saying the other day that one of the guys is a rip-off of Heechul from Super Junior xD

ftlouiea: I am surprised that SM actually came up with this group. With some of their similarities to Big Bang, I think it was a good idea for SM to make them more "kid-friendly." I can just imagine entire families sitting together to watch Shinee's video!

cinsin: I agree! Taemin really does look like Heechul from some angles!

Those two should have a dance-off. Sometimes I wonder if SM intentionally selects look-alikes of their own stars. Especially in the case of Shiwon from Super Junior and Kangta!

Yeah from what ive seen the group is not so much in the clouds and they're like a really young group of artists i think the youngest ones out there are the japanese groupe Hey! Say!

ive finally gotten time to watch their music video "noona is pretty' and judging at that, the second it started playing, i had thoughts that they might wannabe Big Bang but then I changed my mind, they're not that bad. they're alright actually, tho their looks is kinda plain-in a good way i mean. but talent-wise, the singing is good, so is the dancing. i thought they remind me of the American boygroup; NLT

I have just started to listen to NLT's songs. They don't seem bad at all, and SHINee does sound similar to those guys. :)

Their debut performance was great. The dancing was flawless, and no one lipsynched!

I love Shinee. I got into them the first day I saw their mv a few days back. ^^ For me they seem nothing like Big Bang or DBSK. I think SM just wants a group that's in the same genre as Big Bang and other YG and JYP groups so they can have some competition in that area. It's a good investment as Shinee looks really promising. ^^

It kind of threw me off that they were so young, but if you've got talent you've got talent. The youngest, Taemin, is one of my faves and he was the first one I remembered because in the picture he looked just like Heechul. XD But in the mv he looked like Rock Lee from Naruto which was adorable.

Ah but I really look forward to this group and I'm glad SM is still expanding into new genres.

i LOVE SHINee~!

especially Taemin... he's SO adorable, the way he talks and dances... *swoons* can't believe i'm spazzing over a 14 year old boy. but he's just sooooo cute~! *pinches cheeks*

and really, being 14 - 18... their song is sooooo written for all their nuna fans (which means... us. -________-) but they're so innocent and non-corrupted.

uhm. yeah. judging by my crazy fangirl lifestyle, i bet all of them are more mature than i am. -.- anyhow, i'm looking forward to hear more from them. <3
