What's your 5 all time favorite albums??? (other than Jay's)

Hey, I'm collecting CDs right now.. Juz think I might get some more infos about other good albums that really worth buying. Preferably mandarin ones.

My 5 all-time favorite albums are:
1. Ultrasound (David tao)
There's no need to explain why I like this album. This is a compilation album of best works of David Tao. It has all the great songs that he ever composed. It was quite difficult to pick between his Ultrasound and Black Tangerine, though. BUt I'll go for Ultrasound because it has Zao Zi Ji, Jin Tian Mei Hui Jia, and Tian Tian, which I love so much.

2. Magic 72 (Jolin Tsai)
Okay, don't scream at me fiirst. I don't like Jolin so much, but I think this album is great. (the songs like shuo ai ni, square of prague, knight's spirit, hao dong xi, and fake confession are good) Maybe because it has a lot of Jay's masterpiece in there. So... it becomes one of my favorite albums.

3. Super Star (SHE)
I change Together into Super Star. I just bought this album and I think it's really splendid. It has all the great works of different composer including Jay and Dave Tao. And most of the songs are different and has more varieties than SHE previous albums. And their vocal sound much better (esp. Hebe)

4. The Moment (Sun Yan Zi)
I've never listen to YanZi before, but I risk myself to buy The Moment, because I know that It's the compilation of her best works. And Argh... I fall in love with her voice. And the songs are very nice. I love the Moment, Wo yao de Xin Fu, Tian Hei Hei, oh... every song in this album is very nice. Beginning to like Yanzi here.

5. Make a Wish (Vic Zhou)
Don't laugh at me, but I love this album. It has this slow ballad type of songs, really matched Zai Zai deep soft voice. And yeah... because I love the guy too. :oops:

1. Sun Yan Zi- Start
this is the one where she does covers of other songs.. but i really really love this album..granted not all the songs are nice ( like karen mok's mei shi jian) but the other songs are really really good... yanzi shows off her great voice and versatility too.. (ok this album is not a pure mandarin cd.. there are english songs)

2. Jolin Tsai- Magic 72
this album is really good mainly cos the music is good and has a nice variety.. though i don't like her voice.. (i didn't buy the album i just downloaded the whole thing off the Net) other than the songs that jay composed and produced.. the other songs are pretty good as well.. it's indeed worth a listen..

3. david tao- black tangerine
this is a must-have!! his album is very good for easy listening at night when you need something more soothing to listen to.. i love the way he tries to convey certain messages thru his lyrics and music..

4. Sun Yan Zi- Leave
this album is another great album from her.. and it's one of those that grow on you.. yanzi tries all sort of styles on this album.. a bit of rock.. rap.. ballads.. all are pretty good and easy to listen to.. oh gosh i love her voice...

5.A*mei -bad boy
alright this is a really old album of hers(1996?).. but i still love it a lot.. it's a classic A*mei album... just the other day i took it out to listen and was so impressed by her.. i love the power in her voice and way the way she performs the songs.. most of the songs are very well-written in terms of lyrics and music.. not just the more well-known tracks but even the obscure ones that no one has heard of.. it also brings back memories for me

2. Penny Dai - just sing it

this gal is the one who sang the theme song for meteor garden, and she's really talented too!!! she's got a great voice and she writes and composes (i think) all of her songs too!! i've been hooked on this album since last year.

3. A*Mei - truth

this album is pretty good too. most of the songs on this is either hella good or really catchy.

1. PEGGY HSU (so called jay female version)
well, she has a great voice. she composed all her songs too. her qi qiu and bai su hun li were a great hit in malaysia. in the album, you can hear different kinds of music. it has the fast and slow bit. beisdes, the two song i'd mentioned, zhang tou fa(long hair) is also very nice. most of her songs used piano to play. very soothing and nice to hear.
a good album.

2. LANDY WEN - LAN SE YU(blue rain)
this is also a very good album. jay composed 4 songs in this album. most of the song are hippy and easy listening. i like 'bing he' a lot. it has jay's style in it but it was not composed by jay. hehe...

3. Z CHEN - LING ZHEN SAN DIAN ZHONG
hahaha....this is one of the MALAYSIANS singers which is our proud of showing to the world. HA HA. just jk.:laughing: his music are great. in this album, especially the first six songs are GOOD !!!
after it it is good too but...........hmmm.... i think it's ok . haha. this is highly recommended!!!!

4. THE GOSPELLARS - aCapella
this is a japanese band. in this whole album, they are singing in acapella style. THE WHOLE ALBUM!!!!
every song is nice !!! maybe i should share some songs to let you guys hear this. HA HA !!!

5. EASON CHAN - 4 a change
this is a compilation album. it consists 3 cds. all the songs are in contonese and not mandarin. this is a very worth buying album. it has all the nicest song he sang before. i can guranteed if you like his songs you will like this compilation album too. hehe ^_^

Chris Yu - Lonesome space in Taipai
Not many ppl i know of, know of Chris Yu. Hes also really talented, with amazing vocals. He also composes his own songs, and if you d/l a few of his songs, you will know what i mean. So far... this is the only cd of this yr that i can listen without skipping tracks, and im very picky with my music.

Tension - Gotta Be Your Man
I think they are probably the best vocal Taiwan male group. Not to hurt anyones feelings or anything... but F4 and 5566 just cant sing. Although this album isint as good as the first album, you will grow to love it.

1). TOGETHER - S.H.E. (5 out of 5)
All of their best hits and 6 new songs which were all very good. Besides I love SHE so I love all their albums.

2). JJ Lin (6 out of 5!!)
Dunno what this album is called, I think it's his first and it's probably the best CD I've heard in a while.. every song is good and he has beautiful music and lyrics and voice.

3). My Way - Hins Cheung (4 out of 5)
I really like a few hits on this album. Not all of them are good, some even boring, but it's a definate improvement from his first album and a few songs on this CD I just love because it is very sweet.

4). Elva Hsiao (4 out of 5)
Her past albums I've liked very much.. somehow I just didn't connect with her 'Ai Shang Ai' album which was a disappointment but I have to say I love her previous albums.

5). See My 72 Changes - Jolin Tsai (3 out of 5)
OK. Everyone knows I do not like her but Jay is talented and so are the people who wrote the songs for her. The music is good.. too bad there was not a strong voice to sing it.

1) all of A*mei's albums: she has realli strong vocals....she carries her voice well, whether in fast numbers or slow ballads.....waiting for the release of her latest album in july....

2) Shino's latest album that consists of her past hits like Xing Dong, Music All Night and a few new songs too...

3) Tension: haven buy yet but heard a few of their new songs..nt bad i think...at least they harmonise well, unlike other boybands :wink2:

4) Harlem Yu: though his new song sounds abit like shuang jie gun, but it's creative enough...his slow songs r gd too...

5) Soundtracks of movies, taiwan idol dramas etc.....the reason is simply cos soundtracks have songs that might nt be a great hit but worth listening to....like meteor garden part 1....the english songs r great...for movie soundtrack, i recommend "A Walk To Remember"...

Well, i pretty much liked most of Yanzi's releases, especially the Feng Zhen album.(Did i get the album name correct?). To be continued and Start is not too bad as well. Guess they will definitely be in my top few. There are just too many good albums to name so it will definitely be a struggle to list a top 5.

Oasis's Whats the Story Morning Glory is cool As well. Alwaes liked that album.

* G.O.D. - chapter 5 - my first venture into korean music! i heard it playing in a korean cd shop and asked the shop owner to show me the album. bought it and have loved it ever since. for those who aren't familiar, G.O.D. is boy group, their music is pop/rap, and i must say koreans can rap very well! can't wait for their next installment!!!

* lee hom - wei yi - a good mix of music style, in my opinion. rock, pop, gentle ballads. love the sound of his voice and the slight american accent. also can't wait for his next album, which is long overdue!

* avril lavigne - let go - again, same as with utada, love the quality of her voice. she makes singing look so easy. her style of rock is good, not too rock for my tastes.

Here we go~
Norah Jones(come away with me)-- it a fantastic album. It's very diff album of all the other pop star and her voice is just too good! This album is totally relaxing and it's good for ppl who easily get stressed.

Van Fan Yi Chen(First Album)-- He is considered as a newcomer and nominated for Best New comer in the 14th Golden Melody Awards. He looks good and hava a very convincing good voice. He sang the chinese version of I believe and that song rocks!

Landy Wen( A little Wild)-- She have a good voice just like Amei and I like this album a lot. I like the way she sang Bei Dou Xin and this is one of my all time fave song.

Jordan Chan( Bao yi bao)-- The first song, Bao yi bao, composed by Jay kick @$$!! Seriously! that song 'saved' Jordan Chan and that's how Jordan chan get alived in the music industries again. A recommended album.

David Tao - I'm OK (CD), for the VCD try to get Taoism - it's really good both the song mix and the MV quality. Mostly mellow songs, very good for night and relaxing.

Sin Sau Chi - Yung Yen : Winnie's Forever, it's Korean and Chinese Soaps (?)OST compilations sung in Mandarin. Beautiful voice. I'm still trying to find the original Korean Soaps OST Compilations.

Club Classic (Sony) : Guarantee to make you move with80's hits like : Shine on Silver Moon, Disco Fever, Let's Groove.

Jennifer Lopez - On the 6 : Jen's first album. Two version of "no mes ames !!)

1) Savage Garden - Savage Garden- I LOVE THIS CD. the songs r easy to listen to, lyrics interesting, n i luv their voices. too bad they broke up.

2) Beach Boys- Sounds of Summer- just got this, its great!! theyre a 60's Cali band, so all their sounds are happy sounding n have simple chords n melodies.. perfect 4 summer!!

3)Eminem- Eminem Show. fav rapper(b4 jay!). hes majorly talented, lyrics are awesum. this album is a little less hateful than his previous, he actually sings songs 4 his daughter.

4) O-Town- O2. They're a boyband, but they try to break that barrier. They wrote some of the songs on this 2nd CD, n this time they have a harder Rock feeling...

5) A walk to remember Soundtrack- lol, im a sucker 4 this movie!!! the music fit the movie prefectly. includes some oldies as well

JJ lin--debut album---well I just started to listen to him cause of cici's 6 out of 5 stars and now I love his songs very much....

Zai zai's---well you know I don't want him to be left out...and his songs are still pretty good except that well..some gets snnoying when you hear it too much.

SHE-together well I sample the whole album at boxup (when it still allows you to try) and since I like ella very much....well I love their songs....cute girls.....ella have style and cool...I love it when she dresas up like jay...

Extremely good album. I have loved ach song at different stages of life.
2. U2 - Zoo Europa
This live concert album is the tops. Makes me so wanna go to their concert. All their great songs are in the album except for those in "All that you can't leave behind".
3. Celine Dion - Falling into you
The Diva herself. Unfortunately, her new album is too pop for her.
4. Da Pump - Beat Ball
My first Jap album. I've always been reluctant to buy albums that I can't understand. But this album changed my mind towards foreign music.
5. Utada Hikaru - Deep River
Her voice is great.

Erm, minus Jay's album im left with only less than 5 albums. Lols! I dont really like to buy albums that contains a few song that appeal. :wink2: But maybe i can give some suggestions.

1] Simple Plan - They are good! My friend has it and all the songs are just great! And i mean all! It's light hearted and rather meaninful. But of cuz there sad songs like "Im Just a Kid" Talks about a kid which has no friends. Real Nice!

2] Xiao Zhu [showtime] - Nice nice! Good attempt on his first album. And the song "hong xian" composed by him is good too! One nice album.

3] Mayday - I dont really know. But based on the songs they feature on MTV, the album seemed great.

After a disappointing 3rd album, 1TYM came back with a HUGE BANG with Once N' 4 All, I just absolutely LOVE all the songs on this album. I highly recomend "HOT Ddeu Guh" (track 4) and "Without You" (track 5) but BUY THIS ALBUM! The whole entire thing is just great.

3. H.O.T. - Outside Castle (5th)
H.O.T..what more can I say? "Outside Castle", "A Song For A Lady" and "Illusion" you've got to hear. Though this was H.O.T.'s last album... H.O.T. forever in our hearts&lt;3

4. Andy Hui - On | My Story (no clue)
Andy Hui has just got an amazing distinctive voice that no one else can duplicate. I LOVE "一步一生" [ One Step Is Your Whole Entire Life?... ] You need to hear this album too :d

5. Lord Of The Rings - Return Of The King
Lord Of The Rings music is SO GOOD! It's exciting and emotional and sometimes creepy too. I love "Minas Tirith", this song is too cool!

My Pride - Joey Yung. Not only was there 2 extremely awesome songs, a third song, my pride took over all HK award ceremonies... plus 2 more good ballads and 2 good fast songs... jeez, seems like the whole cd is good? you're right, that's why i've marked it down here for you guys.

Eason 4 change (i think that's the name)- Eason Chan. It has a couple good new songs plus a whole bunch of good songs as a compilition. good stuff.

waterlily, i like two of the albums that you listed too, the robbie williams one and boyzone greatest hits. i would also recommend 'swing while you're winning' a jazz album by robbie williams because his voice amazingly fits well with the sinatra like tunes.

Looks at CD rack. My list of Top 5 album, in order.

1. Linkin Park- Reanimation
My fave album from LP, coz the remixes are work of geniuses. Fast songs became slow and the angst is softer, while slow songs are injected with more passion and fast beats.

2. Linkin Park-Hybrid Theory
Nu-metal was never my cup of tea until this album was born. as it's name suggest, the great contradictions of voices (mike's rapping & chester's screaming) harmonised greatly. a great pity it's only 30 mins coz it's a great clean anger songs.

3. Linkin Park- Meteora
Somehow i feel this album is mellower than HT because the band is experimenting with their HT samples. Still, they're sing my life, my mood and my feelings in another 30 mins CD.

4. The Rasmus- Dead Letters
A new addition to my rock phase. this Finnish band is awesome, songs have aura of darkness around it, but it's clean and shady. plus, the lead singer has a cute Finnish accent!!! :tongue:

5. Sean Paul- Dutty Rock
He gives jamaican music a sexy touch in this album. addictive and feel so good to dance along!!!

I know i should recommended only five albums, but i can't leave this one out.

6. Jeniffer Lopez- This is me... then
The songs are awesome, sexy and it makes you wanna fall in love and dedicate one of the songs to your other half.

Ab solute-ly brilliant. like many of k songs, the lyrics are meaningful as well as having the most romantic deep, sad music scores of all time.

'Stripped' Christina Aguilera
the bolting outs of all her songs make her so unique and powerful. nobody can match.

Great songs with all my fave songs, especially 'One Way or Another' by Blondie.

my fave malse singer aside from jay.. i rili love tao zhe's songs.. his style of ballads, r&b are very different from jay's.. sometimes i can't understand why others keep on comparing them.. hehe.. and i rili love his alernatives.. my personal fave would be 'dear god'

fish loeng - power of love & mei li ren sheng (beautiful)..
my fave female singer.. i rili love her ballads.. and its a good thing that she is starting to try new sounds.. like her latest single 'ye wei die'.. i rili love her voice especially in her version of 'cai hong'.. its rili sad that she is underrated.. i rili hope that she'll get recognize..

my fave band.. aside from being under tao zhe.. their singing voices are great.. i love their acapella as well as their ballads.. their acapella version of 'our story' is really nice.. and right now, my personal fave would be 'li ge'..
