I think California is too big. At least it's too big for just one thread! So here's another one!!! This one is for Southern California!

Anyone from SoCal? LA area maybe? :-)

Home of Jay selling out the Shrine Auditorium?

I'm gonna go all gangsta and say that I'm representin' the 626! XD OMG I'M NEVER SAYING IT LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!

Yeah...JAY CAME TO VISIT US!!!!!!! Not northern Cali...but US! There's too many white people in northern Cali...oO;

909? Isn't that like...the OC and almost Inland Empire?

seaweedpatchkid
02-02-2005, 02:47 AM
You really didn't need to tell me that. You did, after all, on my right at the Jay concert.

If I ever refer to Jay's LA concert and something about a screaming nutty girl...you now know that it was MonicHu.

Hi southern cali people! I'm from northern california.

What's all this 909 and 626 stuff? I'm confused. lol. I'm just coming in here to say that northern Cali DOES have a lot of asians. At least Bay Area does. In my school, over HALF the people are asians...so more than white hehe.

02-02-2005, 12:23 PM
i'm from the 714 area!!! the oc!!

ahahah its really boring here, actually.. -.-;;

not fun at all

seaweedpatchkid
02-05-2005, 10:32 PM
Ah...the OC...:D Lovely there. Too many white people though.

The Bay area does have Asian people...but is your school almost 80% asian? :P

What's all this 909 and 626 stuff? I'm confused.

I will explain. :D In the super duper cool Southern California...we super duper cool Southern Californians know exactly what it means. If you go up to someone and say "Representing the 323!" They'll know where your from.

Me and Monichu are representin the 626! :D Cuz we kool like dat. Hahahahahaha...

It's basically your area code. LOL. XD That's all it is!

So what are you representin? :D

dagamezmasta
02-06-2005, 02:22 AM
LMFAO  this is just like 8 mile. they're all like "313!!" in 8 mile. cuz 313 is detriot area code.

02-06-2005, 03:13 AM
in NorCal people go "i'm from the 408" too. well, at least i know there's a xanga group called 408 bay area asians or something. anyway, my school is basically 50% asian too. but not anywhere near 80%! that would be so cool...haha.

pumpkin21
02-06-2005, 08:45 AM
i live in both the oc and 626 area and i must say the oc is a much nicer place to live if you were some old white folk who's retired and want a quiet nice place to live, but it's SSSSOOOO boring in the oc. there's ever anything to do there. everything closes at like 10pm. where are all the college kids suppose to go to??!?!?! i love how asian 626 is and how everything is opened so late especially the asian cafes. we usually hit 'em after clubbin in LA. so much fun to live in sO kaLi...

seaweedpatchkid
02-06-2005, 08:53 AM
Ah....Asian cafes that don't close until like four in the morning! That's so great! After the Jay concert we went to OK Cafe down on Valley Blvd and ate. :D

I got home quite early that morning. :D Then I had to get up a few hours later and go snowboarding. I fell asleep on the table at the eating area.

Southern California sure sounds fun to live in! I never knew that there were so many asians living there. I thought the asians that lived there were only in Chinatown  . lol. Those cafes open that late?! Wow.
Do you guys have asian centers, like shopping centers that are completely asian? Asian shops, titles, etc.

kewlpiggy88
02-06-2005, 09:40 AM
yeup they do have those asian centers! and they're so much more of them than in NorCal and much more lively too!

Do you guys have asian centers, like shopping centers that are completely asian? Asian shops, titles, etc.If you go to certain areas, the population can be predominately Asian. Monterey Park and San Gabriel are some pretty good examples. And there are a lot of centers that are completely Asian, very little English written any where to speak of - I remember driving down one road and seeing only Asian plazas everywhere. It's rather nice.

I quite like downtown LA area, now that I think about it. It's so close to everything - Chinatown, Lil Tokyo, Koreatown. And of course, Santa Ana (AND GOOD VIETNAMESE FOOD OMG) is only a 40 minute drive away~

02-06-2005, 10:04 AM
The only thing I'd go to Little Saigon for is Banh Cuon or those little shrimp thingies that no one will tell me what it's caleed!

Yea...MPK is like my home away from home.

seaweedpatchkid
02-08-2005, 02:47 AM
I'm close! Depending on your location on SG I can be as close as a five minute drive! :D

I love the area. It's so home like to me...:D

I went to Washington DC where there aren't a lot of Asians...and I felt SO out of place!

Yay! This is my 300th post!

pumpkin21
02-22-2005, 08:57 AM
ditto...it's so weird to be out of kali and seeing all those non-asian ppl. went to washington and oragon and felt so out of place there. everytime my friends and i went into a resturant it was all white ppl there. just felt like every1 was watching us. just made me miss being in the 626 where there's nothing but asians. hahah. so spoiled so spoiled...=)

*gasp* i haven't seen the south cali thread til now!

haha i'm guessing most of us live in the 626 area? asian central :D but actually, just get to college and you'll already feel out of place. actually, i feel out of place when i go back to the 626 area (arcadia is my hometown) cause i've seriously gotten use to seeing a good mix of people. SG has way too many asians... though i can't complain about the food

pumpkin21
02-26-2005, 08:43 AM
i miss the chinese food they have in the 626. they don't have a lot of asain food places in the OC and the ones there are usually white washed and hella expensive. thye do have tons of great sushi places though. there's like a sushi resturant in every plaza you you to in the OC. oOo wells no complains here.

Anaheim....er....can't say i do. but i know its near Disneyland...right? Of course...Valencia would be ideal too. SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN ROCK!!! [my socks LOL]

Mike
03-04-2005, 02:31 AM
562 is mainly Cerritos right? it's cause my cousin worked for T-Mobile at Cerritos Mall and just signed me up for a random number. so no one here is from anaheim/cypress/cerritos area?

sophstress
04-30-2005, 09:38 AM
Nobody's posted anything for a while. For whoever asked where the inland empire is it's 909 and 951, san bernardino, riverside, ontario, moreno valley so on. I'm from the 909 but now I'm in 714 and south county 949. There is crappy chinese food in orange county I always go out to monterey park for dim sum because the dim sum in the oc is horrible. But I guess if you come to eat asian food here it should be vietnamese.

LOl our school is composed of 60% asian... and I bet of that 60& more than 30% are fobs >< HAHA fobs are cool, but sometimes, they can be too show offy and bossy.... just because tey are used to the competitive enviroments in china >< Anyway, anyone go to Arcadia high or from arcadia?? OR possibly around me??!!

Do they sell non-pirated cds? I know alot of asian stores are PIRATING HEAVEN.

But it's hard to find a non-pirating one besides yesasia.com.

Yesasia is non-pirated right?

yeah, yesasia sells alllll original stuff.

the only place that i know in the heavily asian populated area that sells the REAL CDs, and not pirated, is life plaza [in puente hills, arcadia, etc]. but it seems really pricy compared to yesasia =/ maybe it's more expensive because it has to be flown overseas? *shrugs*

hey, Singerchick. yea, i went there w/a couple of friends. i'm not Lee Hom's biggest fan, but my friend is. she didn't want to go alone, so i went w/her because i knew it was going to be a lot of fun. i also admire Lee Hom for his talents, and my experience on the set of his MV was awesome (even though i didn't like the restroom. lol.)
unfortunately, i'm not going to his concert in Las Vegas. hope everyone who goes will have lots of fun. :)

I tried to sneak in. but it didn't work. WEll it's cuz I'm underage, I'm 16 and you had to be 18.

But I did go to the warehouse..dude I got lost. It's so hard to find. but anyway I didn't participate in the MV shoot because I was so young. And it was against the law.

But Leehom was really sweet, he felt bad that they couldn't let me in. So he came out to greet me. I did get a hug and a picture with him though. So I guess it wasn't too bad :)

awwwwwwwwwwww!!! Lee Hom was so sweet!!! ur so lucky, Singerchick. my friends and i got lost too. we arrived there late because we couldn't find a way to the friggin warehouse since it was sooo dark and the street signs were so small, but we got there in time for the photo session. but ur luckier because u got an individual picture. ;)

Ahahaha. I used to be 626. xD Unfortunately, do to work, my family had to move. I am all 310 now. I moved from the Pasadena/San Marino area (very nice, big houses O_O) to Rancho Palos Verdes. We codename it Mount Olympus. (Ahahaha. If you know where RPV is or live near it you might get the joke...)
