Hmmm.....it seems strange to me that nobody talked about five-day week that was introduced not long ago. So what are your views on it?
For me, it would be good as I can be with my family and friends the whole weekend. No need to go back to school on weekends and I can do whatever I want. The problem is that my CCA, which is scouts, is still on Saturday and I cannot have more of my own freetime. :worry:

I prefer the normal week without the 5 day week scheme.IF there is 5 days week,i would have to go back very late everyday, cos i tink i'll need to go down for cca almost everyday.
Anyway,my cca rawks!!!

tangwk1990, Hmm. Since its 5-day week, how come your scouts is still on the Saturday? All of my school's CCAs are after school, and it ends till 6pm for uniform groups.
And my lessons end earlier too.
So its not that bad i guessed.

well, its good and bad in a way. like for me, my dismissal is supposed to be 3.30, but now its 2.15 so that we'll have more time for cca. but the bad thing is now we have to have more days for cca! now my week are so booked. like mons and tues are CA days (for common tests), then weds and fris got cca. left with thurs, which i have tuition. plus, everyday you come back so late..... but then again, saturday, i can sleep in!

That's because we need our adult leaders to conduct our Scout CCAs. They all have to work on weeekdays and the only time they are free is on Saturday.......
But, accouding to my teacher, scouts will "slowly" be shifted to Friday starting from Term 2.......

I totally hate the new 5 day week regime! My classes end as late as 3 pm! If there's assembly, it'll be 3.30.. It's really tiring and my teachers are all giving us lots of homework and tests plus pushing us really hard, because we're in sec 4 now.
I really feel that Mr Lee Hsien Loong should have conducted a survey or poll 1st to find out if we, the students would like the idea.. Do you guys agree??

When I first heard about it, it seems like a good idea. Nothing points it out that it is in fact lousy faster than implementing it. The company pushed all the 44 hours into 5 days and I have to get in early everyday so it pretty much sucks for me… Wish they stick to 5 and a half day so I can go off early..

My school use to have two CAs per week, one on Saturday and one on Tuesday. Now, we're squeezing everything into monday-friday. It drives me nuts though, lesser time to study and more things to learn. Gah, i'm not super human.
But yeps, that leaves my staurday free and i can have tuitions for my weaker subjects and such. I quite like the idea though!

This makes no difference to me.. Because my cca, choir, is already on tuesday and friday originally...
On the other hand, I actually feel more relieved as there will be no more extra make-up academic lesson on Saturday!! It's really tiring to come back to school again on Saturday.

I don't find the five day week taking any effects on me because only most of the uniform groups had training on Saturday. This five day week system is really making a lot of changes to the events that is happening in school, which is not very good. So I think the only good points is that the students(and some teacher) can relax at home on Saturday without going to school...

My cca is also choir... but my choir practice is 4 times a week... i think because of this 5 day week, my choir have to start very late at ard 5.30 so i only get to go home at 8 or so... but saturdays still have choir... so i dont really like this 5 day work week thing cuz my lessons everyday end very late... and there are more work to do also...

Anyway, i don't think the teachers in my school did not obey to the Government's rule. A few weeks before my choir's Singapore Youth Festival judgement, my choir conductor organised a choir sharing session, on a SATURDAY... Is this counted as illegal, of not obeying the "five-day week" condition?
Also my school band, is also training very hardworkingly for their Singapore Youth Festival judgement... Almost everyday, even including on Saturdays, but excluding Sunday.. Tell me, is this illegal? If this is, I think I shall lodge a complaint to the Ministry of Education or my school principal.

Erm...I'm not sure. My scouts CCA is on Saturday also but nobody seems to be bothered about five day week. In fact, now I think that CCAs on Saturday is better so that we will not be too tired on weekdays. If CCAs are held on weekdays, we might be too tired after a whole day in school and we cannot even do our homework!!

I feel that a five day week is still better. It is because you will be free on weekends and have more time to rest. I prefer to work longer hours during weekdays so that I can relax in the weekends and not be tied down by work.
Also I can get to sleep longer during the weekends. I think the idea of having to work in the weekends really make me dreads

I think it's rather useless. Most of the ccas which used to have ccas on saturdays and sundays just continued doing so, nothing feels different.. they should enforce it more.. but even so, all those cca leaders, and even the teachers are so intent on SYF that they still go against the five day week plan anyway.. Speaking of which, how was SYF for everyone?

The five day work week thing in school is even more tiring than what we thought it would be. Yes, there are five days, but the hours are very long and thats why students don't have the time of their own. Nowadays, kids are busier than adults! Some school still operate on Saturdays.
