View Full Version : jay makes good intros

i think jay starts his songs in an amazing way that makes people want to hear the rest of the song. And the intro kind of tell you what the rest of the song will be like. Like in Ba, Wo Hui Lai Le by listening to the sound of the cello we can expect it is going to be some kind of a tragic song. i think the drums in Long Quan also introduces the song well. The intro of Jian Dan Ai also tells you that it is going to be a catchy, cheerful song....don't you think? Uhm maybe other composers make good intros too...but what the heck...right now i am blinded by jay and jay only so i think he makes the best song intros...

Personally, my favorite intro is definitely the intro to Kai Bu Liao Ko....i think it sounds very beautiful and very sad and very tragic and very "jay".
anyways...what's YOUR favorite jay intro? (if you have one... :) )

yes.. i agree totally that jay's makes perfect intros that lure you into listening to the song. i think he once said that a good intro was important for a good song?

my fav intro for slow songs would be that of kai bu liao kou, and for fast songs, it would be ban shou ren... as the both of them sound majestic and adds a unique and nice touch to the song.

i think it's bits and pieces of the whole song...cos maybe he had written the whole piece and is not satisfed with the intro and alter it. How could u tell???

Yeah, the intros are really good. Normally you wouldnt notice the small details in a song but Jays really stand out...maybe part of anticipation to hear a new song?

Anyway, my favourites have to be the piano solos. I love it when he plays the piano..it sounds really natural, without any percussion or other instruments.

For a faster song, I really like ban shou ren. Its really nostalgic, with all the instruments and then the percussion come in. It sounds really majestic, as choo min said. If you noticed the end bit of the One on DVD, they show the 'orchestra' playing the introduction and it sounds really cool, but it only sounds like the song when the drums kick in. Really shows his musical talent...

 dats what I thought too! But he does make good introductions for a song in a concert.....if youre a fan of his adorable side! Its really sweet the way he sometimes pauses to think of something to say, moves his head from side to side the way he does then just blurts out the name and sings!

Yes, his intros are good. But sum of them are really long...more than a minute!!! But the songs are worth it...
I think my fav. intro would be the one from An Jing and Jian Dian Ai...:wink2:

My favorite intro is a mix between An Jing, Dui Bu Qi, or Ban Shou Ren. The intro for Ban Shou Ren is just really kickin.

Admittedly, my favorite of all time has to be Dui Bu Qi's intro. For some reason, that song really appeals to me. The intro is just really great. I love the melody.

For slow songs... most likely the piano in An Jing is the best. I just love it... It's so calm and pretty.

my favorite fast song from jay chou is Grampa's tea, i love that song. it was the song where i actually "noticed" jay chou! but i do agree that his songs do really catch you from the beginning and they tell you what the song will sound like from then on..

My favourite intro has to be the one from Love BC, Piano intro for An Jing, grandpa's tea, Sorry and Jian Tan Ai. Niang Zi's intro isn't bad either as well as Iron Box.
The shuang jie gun intro just gets your blood pumpin' and the ninja intro is really interesting with all the techno sounds.
They're all great indications of how the feel of the song is gonna be like but not the content. Gosh I love most of his intros.

Wan Mei zhu YI!! The piano intro are really kicking!!

Nun-chucks's intro are kicking too!! The electric guitar!!Wooo..hooo...

i like the ones where he's got the repeating sequences then adds stuff.
the classic: ai zai xi yuan qian
and counterclockwise
and milan's ironsmith.

i should've know he writes the bgm himself too.

Yeah, I just noticed that Jay has a very creative intros of his songs. I personally like "Ai Zai Xi Yuan Jian" with the muffled-sound intros at first then comes the real sound with the beats. It is as if you're entering other the muffled-sounding world, which is assumed to be BC world. Very catchy.

And I do agree that Ban Shou Ren intro is really kickin', I think the intro itself is the greatest element that makes people wants to keep hearing the full song. :yeah:

I also like the Ninja's intro. The sound sort of tells that it's about Ninja. It sounded like a video game sound. And not to mention Yeye Pao De Cha.... hm.... the intros is very lightening. And Niang Zi... I just love the twisted minor sound of the guitar. It's very catchy.

i like can not speak's intro n love in b.c. personally wen i 1st hear jL's songs, i alwez thought the intros almost sounded the same but now i can tell them apart.

in live concert, i must say the best intro he did for a song is here in msia wen he said he will bring the 'tornado' to cool us down after asking us if we feel the 'heat' dat nite o sumthing similar (2 which every1 answered 'yes' enthusiastically).

Also, I really liked the intro to Signals in The One concert, when the guy played it on the violin, it sounded really different...and the crowd just started screaming...that all helped make it one of the best, albeit unplanned, introductions.

The fact that An Hao is one of my favourite songs helps too!

i liked how he started his "the one" concert...the music i mean...i liked how he sang a line an then stopped...and then started up again... :) plus it was a good song 2 start with

althought my fav song of his "the one" concert was the one he wrote "why cant u even speak clearly" ... thats good stuff

i esp like an hao coz of the violin intro. the sound is so smooth and the melody is so simple yet beautiful!

i also like love in bc. can't explain it ! i like how the sound is first soft and bit muffled then it becomes louder with the beats. it just sounds so romantic! i feel as tho i can float away whenever i listen to it.

and the intro to ke ai nu ren. i like the helicopter sound. it blends in so well to the rest of the melody.

Yeah that was a really good start to the concert, got everyone pepped up! But theres a 90 second wait at the beginning of the CD...at least you can watch something happening on the DVD..when the people were marching and the motorbikes sped through the stage in the middle of the crowd! Very good intro to the entire concert!

i love the intro for "half human monster"! it's just got so many layers it really draws you in. like first it seems very dramatic w/ the trumpets? and drums, then the beat comes in w/ the scratching and then the bass hits and it's just great. i really like that as the beginning of the 8D album. i dunno if this counts, but i also really like the intro in the "return to the past video" how the piano's playing softly and the scenes showing trees and water, it seems very serene and innocent. and i really like the beginning part of "split". it seems like a very sad melody that kinda sets the mood for the song. jay's got so much talent. can't wait to hear the 4th album.

he's intros are so special.
i just loved to hear those sounds.
although we hear those sounds everyday.
but somehow it really enhances in his musics.
i can feel that although it's a normal car sound but when it played in his music it is not only a car sound.
to me, it is more than that ! :yeah:

in his recent album. i think he uses alot of different sounds!!!
especially yi fu zhi ming.
you can find loads of sounds in it.

i agree with jay making GOOD intros !!!! ^_^*

i totally agree...jay and his magical talents...his intros are so good...there's this one song that i love the intro so so much...that song is not my favorite song but that song has like the best intro!! i am not sure if he won an award for that song before..i think i read it long time ago like around last yr..that song is from his frist album..it's either number 6 or 7....so damn good...there were time when i just keep on repeating only that intro part and listen to it many times..i can never get sick of his songs

keke i agree with this^^ Jay is really good in, introducing his songs with the attractions effect keke. Like say... an jing. From the piano he played in the beginnning, we can already expect to hear a sad tune which is coming next. And of course the lyrics does alot too^^

hmm.. another example, like qing tian maybe? and ni ting de dao. when the guitar it starts to play, when it begins. I can feel that the song is going to tell us a story. Even before i've seem Jay's mvs, i've realised the feeling of a story.

These are of course for those slower songs, which are Jay's love songs^^ i like them very very much myself keke. (almost all Jay's song i like :P)

Well, as for faster songs like...say...ren zhe? and mabe shuang dao? long quan? these songs gives us the feeling of the next coming attractions. Like we can feel that the action is going to come, telling us not to leave keke. (At least that's what i feel^^)

keke, well... if u want me to choose a best one out of all... i really can't do it keke. Cause i really like all his songs, there's no one, which i particularly like most^^ i hope u all like my comments^^ any disagreement pls pm me keke :P

all jay's slow love songs are good. there's not one song that's not good if i were to go over each one, but his fast songs are sometimes a bit weird..so it is possible if u don't repeat if 24/7. still good tho, some ppl just have different preferences. but damn........his slow songs totally takes ur heart away....and his voice takes ur mind away from reality! haha....i was just thinking..jay didn't even attend college...and he's so talented...but when u think of david tao and lee hom...their songs are not as creative as jays'. life is sometimes unfair isn't it? well..that's our jay!

i totally agree wit u...ye ye pao de cha is one of my favorites coz of the beat, it hits u in the ear, so unique, i would always rewind to hear that part again...yea, ba wo hui lai le is also good too, u hear the thunder and the cool tapping, then the tune. another favorite is an hao, one question, is that the violin or what? the year 3 class 2 is also catchy--the ping pong... yea, the intros of jayz are so captivating, n his intros shows diversity and development in the YHM (does it make sense?)

i thought YFZM's intro was really good, but it took forever! but ban shou ren's intro is the best, along with 3 nian 2 ban, those two were really cool. especially the ping pong playing thing, that was really original. then the Last Battle's intro was also pretty cool with all the war sounds and stuff.
--i also liked how jay played piano at the beginning of the Love's Cliff MV

yea definitely. jay's very creative with the intros.... the 2 fav off the top of my head: can't speak (i loooooooooove the sound of the plane taking off) and in the name of the father (the italian part really builds up the song... makes me anticipate something amazing)... yea i never even thought about the impact his intros have on my listening experience.. oh and of course, i love the beginning of ti tien... the broken record sound made me think the cd skipped the first time i listened to it! and i just love the first few lines... so mischievious and cute!

the intro to jay's "yi fu zhi ming" is the most unique intro i've heard that comes to my mind. the whole idea of the italian prayer in the beginning is bloody wicked!

I agree Jay makes good intros. Each song has a unique intro which really makes them interesting to listen to. Some of the Intros that I like are Long Quan and Suang Dao. He also makes good endings as well especially those with rap part in it like Qing Tian and Ta de jie mao.

yeah, his intro are definitely a hook and we are all fishes. however, i would really like to hear his demo version and compare it to the final version. sometimes, i wonder what the 'arranger' in the song credits actually do. do they contribute-influence to the final overall sound of a song by the arrangments they put together? i can't name one like best of all since they're all good.

Yup...I find the intros interesting!
It's like as though everytime when you are walking around the shopping centres, once you hear the intro, you'll know it's a song by Jay! For example yi fu zi ming!
For my favourite intros, I've nothing in mind! All the songs have it's own particular difference!

I think san nian er ban have a nice introduction, i love that... Yi Fu Zhi Ming, not bad too! Very "outstanding", with the high "female pitch"!! For the next album, Qi li Xiang, I love Qi li Xiang's introduction of course! And.. Zhi Zhan Zhi Shang.. Anyway, Zhi Zhan Zhi Shang is terrific
