The SARS situation in Taiwan is gradually improving. The Golden Melody Awards was originally slated to air on 13 May, while the Television Golden Awards was supposed to be shown in mid-September. However, plans for them got delayed, due to the SARS epidemic. Fortunately, activities and planning for the awards have started to pick up again. The newspapers have reported that GMA will be completed by end-July, and possibly during mid-July, while the TGA will be aired in November.

The GMA was originally supposed to be held at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. However, because many concerts and performances have also been delayed, booking of the location may now be a problem. Asia Plus have been trying to source out new, possible locations. The Taiwan University Sports Hall is a huge possibility and if both sides agree to the agreement, the new venue for the GMA may just be at The Taiwan University.

Actually, Asia Plus has mentioned to the news station before that Taiwan University Sports Hall was an ideal location. Asia Plus, which has made use of the stadium's facilities for a couple of events, feels that the stadium, (which has been nicknamed Little HK Coliseum) has a big stage, a wide backstage, good field of vision and most importantly, less restrictions. A change of venue would give everyone a very new "feel". Hence, Asia Plus feels that "Taiwan University Sports Hall is a 100 times better than the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall".

In the initial preparatory stages of the event, Asia Plus' assistant general manager expressed, "You need at least one month, to plan the whole event." Doing the math, it leaves Asia Plus with just enough time to replan for the event, if the event was to be completed by the end of July. Although Asia Plus hasn't officially gotten any news from the news station, with regards to the date of the event, the AGM said, "We will definitely insist, otherwise, if the event fell short of its usual standards, we'll have a hard time explaining"

I know some parts of the translation is a bit fuzzy. Yes, those were the parts I didn't quite understand. But as long as you all get the gist...

Edit: I originally referred 國父紀念館 as "National Father's Memorial Stadium" ...and Lepencil kindly ( ) pointed out my mistake...it is "Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall".

Edit II: I originally referred to 台大體育館 as "TaiDa National Stadium" and Lepencil once again patiently pointed out my mistake...it is "Taiwan University Sports Hall ".

Edit III: I originally translated "不夠理想" as "not up to standard", but once again, Lepencil sincerely pointed out to me that the translation sounded Singlish. I have since changed it to "if the event fell short of its usual standards".

Edit IV: I originally mistook 副總經理 as "Vice President", but you guessed it, Lepencil i'm-running-out-of-adjectives corrected me, saying it really is "assistant general manager"...so
