Hey guys and gals, just kinda wondering what the people in the background at the start and ending part of the song are saying as I listen to Jiang Jun everytime? Just wondering what language are they using because they do not sound like taiwanese dialect or anything...

Hope that somebody out there who knows what they are saying can help me with that... Thanks!!! :wink2:

they're speaking the dialect of Shan Dong, which is a province in China. its funny how i found out tho...cuz my bf's neighbor is from Shan Dong, and whenever i speak to him, it sounds so familiar and it bothers me. One day when i was listening to Jiang Jun, it finally clicked that those guys speaking in the background had the same accent that my bf's neighbor does..weird..but FUNNY lol :D

oHhh..hey..xii_piggie_iix, do u think u could ask ur bf's neighbour exactly what they are saying? especially at the end. it sounds like 'something something la zhu (as in candle..lol), jiang jun!' which is really weird.

Is that movie really violent? I wanted to see it but some of my friends say it isn't very good while others say it is okay. What is your opinion?

well...the song is really ambiguous[is that how u spell the word? lol] if u havent noticed...first of all, the title is general/checkmate right? so it could be interpreted as a battle or a game of chinese chess...but in the MV it was portrayed as chess, so...yea. the convo was about a buncha guys watching 2 ppl play chess

pre-song: the convo basically went like "r u gona take ur next step" "i will, i will!" "you don even have a 'bomb' nemore!"

post-song: "where r u gonna take ur next step? where r u gonna take ur next step?" "right here!" "CHECKMATE!!!!" "Aiiiya!" *laughter* "what are you doing!!????"

haha i hope that made sense..xD

ohhh!! ok.
that makes sense now! it's not 'ni wan la chu' it's 'ni wang na zou' (where are u going) haha. yea. thanks mate.
in chinese, it's something like:
beginning:
"你过了?" (you moved your pieces already?)
"过了", "过了" (moved already, but it also sounds like 过来 to me, which means 'come here'. but i thought the former one makes more sense)
"你过了?"
"aye.....你走了吗?" (you moved already?)
"走了" (moved already)
"没炮了嘛,都" (i don't have the cannon already! the 'cannon' is a crucial piece in the chinese chess)

ending:
player 1: "你往哪走? 你往哪走? (where are you going? = where are you moving your pieces?)
player 2: "伯伯,将军!" (uncle, checkmate! 伯伯 means uncle in taiwan, pronouced as 'bei1 bei1')
laughter from the spectators.
player 1: "哎哟! 你干什么你? (ai yah! where are you doing, you? = you made me lost)

best i can make out. correct me if i'm wrong. there are still some muffled conversation at the front i can't make out.

actually, you could tell from the lyrics too. pieces such as the cannon "當頭炮", the chariot "用單車入宮". the translation can be found here in one of our forum threads:

jiang jun translation (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6008)

yup. and i think the lyrics are very well written!
