I know that most Singaporean families have maids working at home. Just want to know how you experience with them, how good or bad they are, in fact anything about your maid. Not long ago in Tiong Bahru there was a maid who threw a 5-month old baby down the HDB block and followed by that, she jumped down. That is why I am interested on how is your maid behaving like. Also, my family don't have a maid and this makes me want to know your experiences with your maid even more.

AH, let me see. The current maid i have is the sixth one in 10 years time. Gah. thats like a lot eh? haha. I'm maid dependent. haha, i never lift my fingers to do chores. :rasp:

BTW, the maid incident that you've mention is probably due to the fact that the maid is not used to the lifestlye in singapore. Yeps, thatswhy she chose to do something as foolish as that.

Gah, the last maid i have just lasted for 10 days and she wants to go home.

I guess not everyone can adapt to the singapore's pace in life.

Yeah, I don't have a maid since I'm 6 years old. The maid was hired by my mum and uncle, to take care of my baby sister at my house and my ill grandma in my uncle's house in AMK. My uncle chose a Thai maid because his wife is a Thai too, so they'll communicate easily. However, the maid was very lazy, she took more than 3 hours to iron some clothes (not very many). Also, always after doing a little bit of housechores, she will go into the "storeroom" to sleep.

*Sigh*... The after a few months, she said she want to go home. So, after my mum and uncle's persuading failed, they decided to sent her home. When the maid agent asked why she wanted to go home, she lied to the agent that my mum did not give her the full salary!!! Argh...to think that my mum already treats her so well (no scoldings or violence). Haix...then luckily the agent discovered that the maid was lying.

Phew...my mum don't really trust maids, after reading news about maids 'murder' children etc etc. Anyway, we don't need a maid in our house. Most housechores all done by my mum...hehe. :P

i don't have a maid but I think how the maid behaves is related to the treatment from the employer. It is a two way thing, I believe if one treats a maid well, the maid would not be too bad also (unless there is really something wrong with the maid). we need to understand that maids are also humans, they are not in any way inferior to us, they should be given the correct humane treatment as well.

but there are also cases when the employers treat them too well and they start to rebel. That's why some employers are strict with them. It really hard to say, there's different kinds of people. I guess it depends on your luck whether you could employ a reliable maid.

Nowadays, maids really can be that cruel... It's really an exclamation!I used to have maids, but not now...Altogether, I have 4 in all..

The first one was like a babysitter, she left when I was very young, even I have no impression of her due to the youth of me.

Next, she serviced for 8 to 9 years for my home.. I like her a lot despite her strictness... She's really a nice person.. When it's my birthday, she will present a gift to me... How nice, don't you think so? Also, when it's her birthday, our family will buy her a birthday cake for her too! We're a very nice family LEH!! *grins* She left a lot of precious moments with me and my family.. When she left, I was terribly upset for a few days, before I could get over her... Hmmm... How sad...

The 3rd maid I have is also a very nice maid. However, she worked for only a while before she was gone in my family. Next, the last maid I have, is a problematic maid... To me, she is problematic.. I don't know what's wrong with her.. She, herself, suggested to sleep in my daddy's stuffy store room, and after a few days, she went disappeared! Guess what, she lodged a complaint saying that she was not well treated by letting her sleep in the ill-vetilated store room. This is SOOOO ridiculous!!!

That's all for my story. In the end, after so many stories of maids, my father decided not to hire any more of maids... So troublesome!!!

However, ever since my maids are gone... My house become like a pigs' sty! It's so messy... lol...

Good and hardworking maids are hard to find (in my opinion). My neighbour had changed 3-4 maids in 5 years. The first one, I have no impression of her at all. The second one worked for them for quite a long time, 1 year if I'm not wrong. However, she fooled with a foreign worker out there and was sent off by them. The third one, worked for only a few months, but was sent off by them becuase she stole their money (even the children's piggy banks!) when they were overseas.

However, not all are bad lah. My dad's friend's maid for example. She is very hardworking and nice. And she has worked for them for 17 years! Rare, eh? She is already like one of their family members. Very close relationship... Haha, how I wish I have this type of maid too... Heez... =D

1st maid i had. she was the worst of all. snuck out in the middle of the night to see her friends, brought my then baby brother out in the rain just to talk to her guys who were renovating the house opposite mine.

2nd was so far the best.she went back as her husband wanted custody over her son.

the 3rd and current one is inexperienced.good in art,but doesnt have much common sense =\

I have a maid, working for my family for about 6-7 years already. Not the 1st one, but the one who has worked for us for the longest period of time. Yup but my mum still doesn't trust her so much. I feel that my maid has been a good one, she does her work well and all but as she has worked for so long, I think she's tending to slacken off a bit, which irritates me. She doesn't really listen to my siblings and I and shows black face which I feel isn't right.

And I don't like maids who goes out with men, taking advantage when their employers are not at home. It's really horrible. I saw a situation like this in KFC! The maid even brought the employer's daughter along to meet a guy.

Sigh, so I cannot bring myself to trust maids. It's better to, you know, keep a bit of a distance. She's an outsider afterall. My pov. (:

Gee I never knew there was such a thread.

I used to have nice maids, but recently my family's been getting problematic ones. My new maid's arriving today, she's the third or fourth one this year already

Sigh. I remember my favourite maid was my first ever maid who took care of me since before I was born. LOL I couldn't leave her. & man, when she left to get married, I remember I refused to come out of the room, & I was in K1 only, I think.

Then the terror maid came next. She locked my sister & I out of the house & all, not giving us dinner until just before our parents came home. Boy did she act like a pure lil' angel in front of my parents. Gaahh she was the scarey maid :|
