View Full Version : JCNET Karaoke Contest :: Voting Nov. 29 - Dec. 11

Entries for the karaoke contest can be found here (http://www.jay-chou.net/karaoke_voting.php).
If you were asked to come here to vote for a particular karaoke, please do not vote, and report it immediately. Contestants are not allowed to solicit votes.
Remember you are evaluating the overall quality of the person's voice and how well they sung the song. Not how well or bad it was mixed with the music, or if there was too much static or the music was too soft, and definitely not on how close they sounded to Jay...those all superficial reasons.
***IMPORTANT***
Pay attention to which entry number you listened to and will vote for...the display order on the page is shuffled every now and then. Please make sure you're voting for the entry you intended to vote for!
Feel free to post comments as you listen to a few of them, I'm sure the contestants will appreciate the feedback. And it will give the other voters an idea of which ones they should definitely listen too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reminder: Cheating is not tolerated.
1. Contestants may vote for themselves 1 time. Although some member may have multiple accounts that were created in the past, and have no connection to this contest...I trust everyone has enough integrity to not vote for themselves more than once.
2. The above rule applies to the general members as well. Do not vote multiple times.
3. Signing up for multiple accounts on purpose just to vote is absolutely cheating and cause for disqualification.
4. Asking current members, or anyone, to vote for your entry is also not allowed.
5. Any contestant with a questionable amount of votes from new member sign-ups, or dormant members may require me to audit their votes, which in turn may cause them to be disqualified.
6. Contestants are to remain anonymous till the end of the contest. Any contestant revealing to other members which their entry is, will be disqualified.
(note: I KNOW 1 or 2 people have done this EARLY in the contest, I'm gonna let it slide. Just hope it doesn't happen again)
Bottom line: It's just a contest, it's not worth it to cheat. We will have plenty more various contests in the future. Not winning this one isn't the end of the world.

Woah some of the entries are really good. Thanks to all of you for taking part. It takes real guts to show off your vocal chords!! :D
I haven't decided my favourite yet. But these entries left a deeper impression on me.
#1 - Long Juan Feng was not bad but I was more attracted to Tong Lei. I thought the way you tried to make the song more expressive really good, especially towards the end.
#2- Again Long Juan Feng was not bad, but I was way more impressed with Hei Se You Mo. Your voice is really unique and I thought you gave the song your own flavour. I loved how you hit the high notes.
#4- I thought your Long Juan Feng was ok but I really loved your Xin Sui De Bing Ka Fei!! It was only after I heard that song that I realised that you have such a beautiful voice!! I thought I was listening to a professional singer. In fact I listened to that song twice!!
#8- It was only after I listened to Heng Hao that I realised you had such a lovely voice!! So I went to listen to Gui Ji and I realised it was really good too!! I love how you were expressive in both songs. It's not easy to do that for these 2 songs..
#11- Both your entries were amazing. I really felt like I was listening to a concert!! Excellent! I'm not too familar with how the 2nd song sounds originally but Wo Niu was excellent because you added your own style to it.
#12 Your Duan Le De Xuan was not bad. But I really like your Qing Tian. It's such a guy song and yet you sang it so well.
I can't seem to access the last entry though. :worry: I'll try again later.
Once again great job guys!! :flowers:

I like voices that are unique, so in my opinion these stand out from the rest.
#2: your voice sounds like sun yanzi's voice a bit. : ) very cool. great singing.
#6: your voice is great!!! nice and powerful
#9: good voice, i like your vibrato. also expressive
#11: very good. special voice, vibrato...like professional, good high notes
wow im amazed! so many great entries...

Oh My Goodness. Some of the entries are truely fantastic, I'm shivering right now because I have to go up against them
They were all great but these few made me go wow:
#2: Your voice is so smooth and Hei Se You Mo was so perfectly done.
#7 My God will you marry me? No, will you crawl into this little cage and let me programme a button onto you so I can make you sing for me whenever I want? Your voice is amazing and although I've never heard Ji Mo De Ji Jie, no way could David Tao have sung it better than you!
#8 Wonderful effort :wink2:, I loved Gui Ji, your voice was very clear and smooth
#11 I can't seem to download Wo Niu, but If You're Not The One spoke for itself. It's fantastic, and you sang it with such emotion it left me breathless. Wonderful song!

Woah, the entries are fantastic, each do have their own style and uniqueness.
Here's some that impressed me.
#2: Man, your entries are fabulous, I love your Hei Se You Mo, the high parts were nicely done! :D
#5: I love the Hai Pa, you sang it pretty emotional, yeah, the elements of the song can be felt.
#7: Woah, you are great as well. The Dong Feng Po you did totally impressed me. :excited: I love you Ji Mo De Ji Jie was nice too! :D
#9: Whee! Nice job in the music background. Jie Kou was in control, excellent work on it. :wink2:
#10: Geez, your Shanghai 1943 was done nicely, it was a pretty difficult song, with the low beginning, you've managed it pretty well though. :wink2:
#11: Man! I thought you sound alot like Jay, I love the Wo Niu! If you are not the one was emotional. You handle it really well! =)

wow. high quality entries they were!! so many tornados too :excited:
#6 you sing quite nicely! not bad at all
#7 i like your voice!! i like your dong feng po...i can see jay's shadow in you! i couldn't download ji mo de ji jie though...
#8 nicely done! i thought gui ji was quite hard for a girl to sing and you did it quite nicely with emotions! your yanzi song is even better! you did the higher notes pretty well too. and you still had those emotions!
#9 you have a pretty good voice! all those energy and emotions! very well done and you sound a little like jay!
#11 OMG ur voice is sooo good i can't believe ur a member of our forums! you sound like some professional recording for his album! i love wo niu it's sooo good! amazing job!

Lot of great entries! I'll only write comments to those who've receveived little or no feedback so far.
#1
What a voice! It's got a very nice and unique attack and depth, and the falsetto is wonderful. "Tong Lei" is better than "Long Juan Feng", but both are really nice without doubt! On the second listening, I'm starting to fall in love with your voice, even though it's untrained and sometimes not entirely comfortable. Please do continue singing! I hear so much un-tapped potential in you it's not even funny! *Listens to "Tong Lei" for the third time and falls in love with the La La La's*
#3
You have a certain cool attitude. I think you're the kind of person I'd want to hang out with! :-) Concerning your singing; sometimes it's very good, but most of the time it only reaches just above avarage. :shy: Still, I like your attitude, so it makes it very listenable anyway!
#4
"Long juan feng" doesn't suit you at all. You sound like a ghost! Sorry! :chain: However, you sound much more feminine in the other song, although it seems like you're holding back you feelings! Don't do that! I like your falsetto and your fragile voice. Just keep away from songs with low notes like "Long Juan Feng"!
#5
I can barely hear your voice. Try to make it louder next time and don't move around the microphone while you sing (causes "mic rumble" noises). You've got the "Mama-kind" of voice that I'd want to hear before sleeping if I were a little child! Very soothing! I like "Hai Pa" better than "Dong Feng Po".
#6
Your voice is a bit japanesy, which is cool as it somehow fits Dong Feng Po very well. However, there seem to be some heavy voice processing going on, which is a bit distracting. It's sounds more acceptable in Gui Ji, but in the end I still prefer your Dong Feng Po more.
#7
I like your "Ji Mo De Ji Jie" very much. It's sung comfortably and emotionally.
#10
OMG! You sound like those japanese girls who sing in anime-songs, except it's in Chinese! You're so cute and simply irresistable!! Both songs are filled with your lovely sound and I can totally feel your entusiasm and happiness through your singing! I somehow unconsiously think of Teresa Tang! It's probably because you both have/had very feminine voices. I'm already looking forward hearing your matured voice as you grow older!!! :excited:
#12
You've got a very rough voice for a girl I think! There's a cool attitude as well, that would perhaps suit hip hop songs! That's not to say that you're singing sucks! Very seldom off-tune, but I'd like to hear more emotions! It's like you're too concentrated on your singing that you forget about telling the stories! I like Duan Le De Xian better than Qing Tian, but the cello solo was pretty unexpected and neat.
#13
 I think there are great guts and enthusiasm here that can't be found in most of the other entries! :wink2:
#14
You let out way too much air when singing! It makes it sound more like whispering than singing. Learn about "breath support" and I'm sure that you'll be singing more comfortably in the future! "Re Dai Yu Lin" is slightly better than "Duan Le De Xian".
EDIT: Toned down some unnecessary criticism.

All right... I finished listening to everyone. Wow, I'm amazed at all the talent!
Anyways, since I know everyone loves singing and wants to get better, I have some constructive criticism and compliments for all.
#1) Try holding out some of the longer notes. You have a soothing mellow voice. Not too familiar with "Tong Lei" but it sounded great to me!
#2) Both your entries were a pleasure to listen to. There were a few times where your words sounded slightly choppy, but other than that, nice!
#3) You dragged out certain notes too long. Superb job hitting the high notes in Ge Qian!
#4) Parts of Long Juan Feng were too low for you; good attempt. I think your voice is better for slower songs. Xin Sui de Bing Ka Fei was really nice. Your voice fits the song.
#5) Nice soothing voice. Noise in the background really disturbed the recording though... I quite liked Hai Pa.
#6) Mandarin isn't your native language is it? Good job with it! There was a certain phrase in chorus of Gui Ji that sounded odd, but it wasn't that noticeable. Such a unique voice... I like!
#7) Oooh. I loved the low parts in Ji Mo De Ji Jie. Such a sweet song. Dong Feng Po didn't seem to fit your voice as well.
#8) Hold out certain notes longer. Good job with Gui Ji. There are several parts that are quite challenging... Your voice is slightly reminiscent of Yanzi... Good choice.
#9) I don't like your Jie Kou instrumental. The voice removing software didn't do a good job of removing Jay's voice. It distorted the actual song, which made your voice sound out of tune compared to the background music at times. Same with the Qing Tian instrumental. You have a nice voice though. :bleh:
#10) I wish you had gotten a better instrumental to match your beautiful voice. But the air of Shanghai 1943 fits you. Hou Niao! Yay!
#11) Wow... So much emotion in Wo Niu... Nice falsetto too! Great job adding in your flourishes instead of just copying Jay. "If You're Not the One" blew me away! Did you by any chance sing the background vocals too? You sound like a professional... I can't even pick out anything wrong...
#12) A few parts of Duan Le De Xuan were slightly too high for you. Voice was a bit soft in Qing Tian. Nice rap at the end.
#13) Try holding the microphone further... There were a lot of pops that took away from the recording. Good try.
#14) A few notes of Duan Le De Xuan were too low for you. Jay is hard to sing, especially for girls. I like Re Dai Yu Lin. You have a nice high voice that goes well with S.H.E. songs.
I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings... I'm not trying to be overly critical, just trying to point out some of the things I noticed. Hopefully, I gave enough compliments to balance out the criticisms... :wink2:
GREAT JOB TO ALL THE CONTESTANTS!!!

Some of the entries really left an impression on me.
#2) Your voice and singing are very soothing and nice! Both songs were done well and like others might have said, Hei Se You Mo was done well!
#4) I enjoyed the Xin Sui De Bing Ka Fei (by: Panda Xiong) song.
#6) Like what littlefishie had mentioned, I'm truly impressed by how you are able to sing in another language and it sounds very well!
#09) I wanna asked: Are you Jay in disguise?!?! I thought I've played the original track accidentally during the beginning of Qing Tian. :D
#11) "If You're Not the One" was simply  The two songs were done in your very style.

#7 i like your voice very much! i think you did such a good job in ji mo de ji jie. you definitely got my vote! you should try singing "yue liang dai biao shei de xin" from David Tao next time!
#9 i think you did a nice job singing both of Jay's songs. keep up the good work!

omg~~ actually a lot of you are really~~ good. i'm stuck on 3 favourites! it's entries 7, 8, and 10. they are all so good...i'm still trying to decide! it's sooooooooooo hard~~ i think entry 7, he sounded a little tad bit like jay. especially in Dong Fong Po. and in entry 8, i think she had a strong opening and everything, and she seems good at singing. she has her own style...you know........?? and entry 10, she sounded so cute! i love her voice...so now i'm STUCK~~

Some comments:
Entry#1: your instrumental for the sun ya zi song was a bit hard to hear. I've never heard the song before...and you sang it great! now it makes me want to go find the song and download it.
Entry#2: Wow. Your hei se you mo is REALLY good. If your voice was changed to a guys...ill bet it would sound like jay. ^^ [uh..if that made any sense]
Entry#11: GREAT VOICE! Amazing recording you got there!
And I haven't finished listening to them all...

Just what are you trying to say here? I'm afraid contestant #11 has to at least understand what the above means, if he is to be able to take in your feedback.
And to everyone participating in the voting, there is still some time before this poll closes (11th December 2004). So, please listen to all the entries if possible and decide with your own ears and heart. :D

I just have to say once again that contestant #1's "Tong Lei" is incredibly beautiful! I don't know how many times I've listened to it already! Judging from the poll it seems that many here are favouring guys (or it could be my prejudice against girls! :-P). Please give all entries a fair listening!

#9 - for qing tian..i think u sound really good..resembles jay chou's voice alot..u have potential..n jie kou..the instrumental is kind of weird..a bit out of tune..but u sound so much like jay chou in this...u do have a very very nice voice like jay's..good luck!!!

Wow wow wow!!! Talents everywhere...haha if i have a recording device, i will sure take part in it. hehe...
#1 I find that your voice sound like Sun yanzi...it's quite good. i like it.
#7 In DFP, you sound abit like Jay at some parts of the song hehe. And also a nice attempt at ji mo de ji jie, sound emotional.
#11 You are simply great. Really sounds like professional singer..Are you in a choir or something? :D
#13  As for you, i don't know man...but i can hear that you never use your vocals to sing, don't know how to put it. It's like you are using a speaking tone to sing. Anyway, if you do something to your pronounciation and your pitching, i think you can do better than what u did in your entry. Good try!! Admire your courage!

:hmm:
on a more general note... I feel that a lot of the entries that didn't stand out, wasn't quite due to a bad voice, but rather a bad choice of songs. I think many could have done better if they knew their own voices better and found better songs to match it.
So far... I feel that the girls are generally weak with Jay's songs... probably out of range or didn't bring out the best in their voices. Add that to the fact that we are used to a more "masculine" voice singing them, the females usually sound too "weak"
I can probably choose a best female and best male... but I can't quite choose a best overall, cos it won't be fair to the girl really.... GAH decisions decisions!

#2: you reminds me of Ruien singing in Hei Se You Mo. I like it...
#4: i like the Xin Sui Bing Ka Fei... I was swaying with the song...
#7: Hmmm.. i think the Ji Mo De Ji Jie is nice...
#8: i like your Gui Ji... it is really smooth and clear. I think the Heng Hao was quite well done too... I can't choose between the two which i prefered... and maybe you can try to hold out some notes longer...
#11: Manz..... i was totally impressive with If you are not the one... That's so wonderfully done and the mixing of the whole song as well... And for Wo Niu it is just so filled with emotions... I like the way you are presenting it... Are you a professional? Wonderful piece of work...
Well... I just hope everyone has fun on this contest...
Well Done!!

I agree with lattae. Most of the female entries didn't catch my attention on Jay's songs. I usually only gave those contestants who sounded good on their 2nd song another listen with Jay's song and most of the time, I found it difficult to accept them. For eg, many of the contestants chose LJF, which just sounded odd to me having a girl sing. At times, it's even scary :worry:
I think I'm actually more inclined to judge the female contestants on their 2nd song only. While for the guys I can safely judge them on both songs... :?
Somehow I missed #7 the other day. And I must comment that you have a really good voice!! I think you could another song other than DFP to showcase your voice because I think I skipped over you the other day because DFP didn't catch my attention (either that or the link was down that day) But your Ji Mo De Ji Jie is excellent. I love the way you sang that song.
And I must say this. I really love #4's Xin Sui De Bing Ka Fei. I think I've played it so many times. Your voice is so pretty!! I really think it's a pity LJF doesn't sound as good.
I still can't decide which one to choose. :worry:

Here to post my 2 cents :-)
#11 Wo Niu was very nicely done. Fantastic singing technique and professional recording! Your rather unique voice enabled me to guess your identity too hehe :-) :shifty:
#9 Some parts of your voice seemed to be drowned out by Jay's vocals especially during chorus.

OMG. NOoo. I haven't been able to log on since August. *Ho poh heep* Last posted in karaoke forum. I missed these forums so much, but haven't found time to drop by with all the college work piling 3 feet over my head. Well almost winter break, and I'm getting tickets for Jay's east coast concert at Mohegan Sun! yaaay. Then when I get home, I'm going to mad record songs and go active again. When's the next Karaoke contest!????!!
*edit* Oh just listened to some of the recordings...and even though I haven't been to the forums for awhile, my ears are still nimble enough to Jay music...

Eileen, for the streaming ones, you need RealPlayer. If you're downloading the clips, then any kind of media player will work since they're mp3 files, and you should already have Windows Media Player since it comes with your computer.

If you click on the link I gave you (click on the word 'here') you will find a page with the tracks listed. Next to each track is a pretty little picture of headphones and a box with a lightening bolt across it. Click on the headphones if you wish to listen online. Click on the lightening box if you wish to download. You will need Windows Media Player to play the downloaded version and Real One Player to play the online version.

absolutely vote fo #11. it's so awesome. n u got the talent. ^^ hope one day there'll be a label record wanna contract you. ^^ n be a profesional singer. n become famous. ^^
I don't feel like doing English right now. I think I'm going to be a little harsh on these. Don't be offended.
14. Your voice is cute, and it seems to have a nice echoing effect. I'm sure you’re an adorable person. But I'm afraid you came off as ...tone deaf. In both tracks. :S
13. It seems like when you were singing, you held the mic too close to your mouth. And is it me or did you sing too low. It's not particularly horrible, it just made you come out a bit ..flat ..in quite a few cases. Your pronunciation was horrible. I commend you for trying though.
12. You didn't go out of tune but it felt like you were straining through the whole 2 songs. You need to open your throat more, especially at some of the higher notes. And in Qing Tian, in the beginning, you went flat at the lower notes. I do like your voice though. It's boyish. With more range and more feeling, you could do rock.
11. You have a great voice. And I loved your choice of songs. Your do have a tendency to slide a quick note down sometimes. I guess it's a technique, but it comes off as sloppiness sometimes (like, lack of breath). Well, I'm just picking the small things. You're improvisations are really nice. And your Chinese accent is cute. ;)
10. Very cute. You sound much better when singing higher notes. I think you almost (accidentally) did a key change in a chorus. Um, dunno. Hou Niao sounded better than Shanghai 1943. But, not by much.
09. Ooh. Not bad. A little nasal. Not the most complimentary recording but I enjoyed listening to you. I bet you'd sound better in real person. You went (a tiny bit) off in the chorus of Qing Tian, @ the highest parts, so it's forgivable. ...Just heard Jie Kou. Yup, definitely nasal. You seem to pull it off though. ^^
08. I really like the song Hen Hao (<-- correct pinyin btw). You didn't pull it off as well as you could've. It sounded too tentative. That style would sound better live. But Gui Ji was done well enough. I altogether enjoyed your voice.
07. Oh my, you are good. The only thing that I can say is your voice becomes weak at the longer notes. It feels like your followed Jay's original exactly, not necessarily a bad thing. The chorus for Ji Mo De Ji Jie is done exceptionally well. Just be stronger. : )
06. In DFP, you started off a little off-tune, then it got better, then worse. But nevertheless, #7 is a hard act to follow. Oh and, you sounded very nasal. I think it was made worse by your accent. :S Your Gui Ji was much better.
05. I thought the file was damaged at first; it was That quiet. But your voice is actually quite nice. Nothing special but it's calming. And there was no obvious technical errors, either, except maybe, your recording device. I liked Hai Pa better of the two, it showed off your range better. The later bit did sound a bit strained though. : /
04. LJF just isn't your song. And (although you weren't the only one who did this), at the part where Jay goes oh,o-oh,o-oh, in the spiraling-up tune. You didn't manage that at all. You did the chorus for Xin Sui De Bing Ka Fei well enough though. You voice is very casual. It fit better.
03. Funny, your voice was so quiet it was indiscernible at the beginning. Thank god it got better. I really loved it. It's low but crisp. Memorable. You didn't attempt the background (bu zhi bu jue ... ) tune though. Also, you generally sound better with notes that don't fluctuate so much; that's probably why Ge Qian sounded better as a whole.
02. Awesome. But it was superb overall. Especially since Long Juan Feng seems to be a challenge for some other people. It felt like you lost momentum towards the end though. Hei Se You Mo was (understandably) performed even better. THAT was a pleasure to hear. I think you're getting my vote. :)
01. There was nothing bad but despite being the last person I heard, your voice wasn't memorable. Nonetheless, Tong Lei was very very pretty. =D
If anyone feels like peeling rep points because I sounded like a douche. Um, feel free I guess. I was deliberating whether I should even post this but, I spend almost an hour listening to everything. So, no. But do realize that nothing was said in spite. I hope some of you might even find this helpful. I've been studying Oscar Wilde then going caroling all week. I think that might explain some of the sharpness of my comments.

There were two contestants that left an impersonable mark on me and they are #9 and #11.
You two did an awsome job.
#9 - I really love your voice. It resembles Jay a lot. Its smooth and settle. You can really hit the notes quite nice. I love the songs you chose. Two of my favorite Jay's song. Great job!!
#11 - I thought you had an excellent voice as well. You knew when to go from strong to soft tone. It really flows well. Job well done! :-)
It was a really hard deicision to make. After hearing these songs over again, i voted for #9.

I really love your voice. It resembles Jay a lot.
I was really afraid people would just vote for an entry because it sounded closest to Jay. That's really not the point of this contest. It's for who did the best overall job.
Oh well, I guess that point won't come across since ppl are bias..towards the one that sounds closest to Jay, which is no surprise I guess.
And please don't speculate in public who the contestants might be. Or even PM them to ask. >.<
If you're wondering, I voted for #2. I think for the girls, singing a Jay song is definitely more challenging as their vocal range tends to be higher. Her HYSM did it for me, it really showed her range, she hit every note on tune, and she didn't sound monotonous, simple as that.

i totally agree wif wat jayx8318x said.. we should listen through all the entries before casting the votes.. and its a contest of who sings beta.. not whose voice sounded closest to that of jay..
And i really hav to say there are alot of very good entries.. hahahha..

I went to hear #11 because he seems to have recieved alot of praises. I was quite surprised when I heard your 'wo niu'.. do you speak chinese? 'Cos you have a unique accent. :P Anyway, your 'if you're not the one' was really well-done!! :D:D :applause: I think you do better singing in english than in mandarin. ;) no offence~ The others sounded pretty average, can't remember much but I think HSYM should be pretty good - my friend was complimenting her voice when she heard that song! :) and there are so many LJF and DFP entries!!

:? I got a couple favorites from the entries, and tooo bad we can vote only one...
But here is my view...
Overall, it's so brave of all to submit entries... participation is a great sucess!! :-) Applause to all of you!!
My judgment is based on basic requirements for singing, which is correct tones and beats for oneself, and creative elements, which is one's style and it's flexibility to different kinds of songs.
Competitors *hard-to-vote-fors,* NOT IN THE RANK ORDER
12: You singing skills have developed well... and I like the Broken String from you a lot! Your voice is very individualized! I love it! Good Job! It's extremely hard for girls to sing guy's songs like Jay's. *now thinking about your competitors, which is...*
11: ... yep, number twelve, meet Mr. 11. The first thing hits into me about 11 is... Woah, you have an A-Do voice! haa :D You are another very developed and individualized singer. I am fighting so hard to vote between you, 12, and...
9: You have a similar voice to Jay, and that's how you have captured the essence of the song perfectly. but wait, you still have another competitor, which is...
7:  ...7, yes 7! I donno how to vote anymore. Your voice is very crisp, a very different one from 11. You have the right range, right beats, etc. Let's see if you guys have more competitors, who is below you~~
5: 5! My hands are sweatin' right now... It's like Jay in a girl's perspective! Especially in East Wind Breaks, I can totally feel the girl's perspective... and a very mild voice indeed! You are good at emtional songs! But wait...
2: Ahhh~~ You are very impressive in Black Humor! Your emotions are totally expressed in Black Humor!
Honerable mention NOT IN RANK ORDER: 8, 3(voice good, but don't strech too much!), 1

Waah first of all, Well done and Congratulations to all the contestants for putting in their entries!!
My top 2 would be number 9 and number 11... those were really excellent singing and I found it hard to pick from those 2... but I chose number 11 in the end because I think that he had more voice control and his voice flowed quite smoothly throughout both songs and his voice is quite calming. He sounds like a proffessional, he should make a CD! haha :D I especially liked his choice of songs!
Anyway, well done all!

#11, #9, #11, #9, #11, #9, #11, #9, #11, #9, #11, #9........... #11... :-)
I Think #11 is great.
To compare, YES! #9 sounds more Real-Live-Singer... You have nice expressions, but... you can be better... While #11, you sound FANTASY... Just Great...!!
Well the rest are good also, but sometimes choosing a song is important, you must choose the song that suites your style, and song that you can express it very well... Then, get a key that suite your range, don't go too high or too low.
Plus, you have to show your own style, of course in a right manner. At least you sound special among the group. If not, you don't sound special and it's hard to remember your voice.
Anyway, there's one contestant that really show her personality, #10. You did show your own charactor, but... be careful with the low and high pitch, and need more expressions.
Good Luck

Phew! That took a rather amazingly long time to listen to all 14 songs!
Firstly, just wanted to say a big congratulations to everyone who participated in this. You have all done a great job! It shows that you all put a lot of effort and heart into singing and that's really wonderful. Takes a lot of guts to post your voices here for people to listen to and critisize.
In the notes I made, entries #2, #4, #7, #10 and #11 stood out the most to me. These were the briefs comments I made for you guys...
#2 Very unique voice. Sung rather nicely and hit the high notes very well. Great job!
#4 Free choice song was sung very nicely! Low, soulful - different to all the other female entries. Great song choice for that one!
#7 Really great singing, very enjoyable to listen to! Especially Ji Mo De Ji Jie.
#10 Cute as singing voice! Most feminine/young singing voice of the lot.
#11 Amazing voice, lovely harmonising in the background for the free choice song.
Again, just wanted to say great job to all who entered! The biggest pitfall I think would have to be the recording though. If you take special care of that, I'm sure your songs would sound even better :)
Although I loved many of the entries, my vote in the end has gone to #4. I like your voice a lot especially in the free choice song. That was honestly a great song choice for your singing style!

woo.. that pretty long time to listen all the works, all great works !!
I cut down to those entries that dominant to me :
#2 strange voice and you have the different way to represent Jay's song, the HSYM is smooth and nice.
# 7 you selected song is quite nice, I think for the Jay's song, you can pay much attemt to reach Jay's high voice more than this. Keep it up !
#9 you did mix the music ? Jie Kou sounds like you sing in the bathroom
#10 I like your little voice, it sounds different when you sing Jay's song.. it' cute.
#11 omg, once I listen your english song, I hardly believe you are the song in my list for karaoke contest. I thougt I put the wrong song in my list, you have power voice and you sound like in concert hall.
#13 ermm.. you are trying too much to be different from the original but it's all false, it sounds you intend to off key.
So my vote will go to ermm.. hard to pick one but #11 I think you deserve it, I still wonder where did you record the song. But not only the fact that you have a good place to record, I vote you for the strong voice.

just finished listening to all the entries. wanna say that i'm very impressed with the entries. we have many talents here at j-c.net. :D you guys were all very brave to showcase your voice for us and to participate in this friendly contest. :-)
anyway, my choices were narrowed down to #9 & #11. in the end i went for #11.
i think the instrumentals that #9 used were rather distracting, hence the recording sounded muffled at times and took away from the vocals. but i still think in terms of voice, it was full of expression and i enjoyed listening to your entries.
for #11, i loved your incorporation of your own flavour to the two tracks. you have a strong voice and great emotions for both songs. especially liked the soft and smooth rendition of the english song, which you sang with such romance, i was simply moved. great voice control and you hit those high notes very well.

All of the entries are nicely done. Its really hard to choose the one to vote, here are some of my comments. Good job everyone
11: Your voice really surprised me :excited: It sounds so grand and makes me think of you recorded it in a concert :D You voice sounds like Jacky Zhang. This is my first choice.
10: Very sweet voice and suitable for S.H.E's songs  This will be my third choice.
9: Sounds a little like you record it from the radio at the beginning. Full of expression in the sound. This is my second choice
8: Gui Ji is a challenging song, but you sing very well, very relexing. Your voice sounds like YanZi. This will be my number 4 choice.
The guys are more outstanding as there are fewer guys than girls. The girls sounds ok, the entries that attracted me the most are 10 and 8.

Some notes I jotted down... they might not make sense :-)
1. clear cut voice, very nice.
2. voice was very unique, made song like like her own. very relaxing to listen to.
7. 2nd song, sounded like i was listening to it in a club or some venue of that sort, song is very nicely chosen.
8. beautiful, should become singer!
9. qingtian was really amazing. like how you did not try to imitate jay, had own speciality.
