[SG Talk] Why Singaporeans do not like to stand when watching concert?

I've been to quite some concerts in singapore n realise that fans in singapore when watching concert they normally will sit down n not stand... it's not that they are not high but for some reason, they will jus sit down n scream like hell.. but i'm curious why singaporeans rather sit down n scream during concert n not stand up n scream during concert?

But at times when we stand up, there are security guards arround telling everyone to sit... but they let us stand at the end of the show....( hate guards -.- )

I've not been to any concerts before... I think... have to depend who the singer on the stage is... If it's JAY, I doubt we can't even see the shadow of JAY, being blocked by those standing up infront!!
OR, maybe... some people actually wanted to stand up and scream and yell like hell, but they saw no one stand up.... and think that if they were the only people who stands up and scream and yell like hell, they will of course be embarrassed infront of so many people...
Therefore.. i think Singaporeans don't show their enthusiasms in public due to their shyness... :P

Ehm, I've only been to Jay and David Tao concert in Singapore. In a way, I think it depends on where you sit & how other ppl in your block react . When you're upfront and the star is walking around like David - for sure you'll stand out, dancing, screaming - whatever.... ppl also streaming upfront !.

During Jay's, unfortunately I sat at the back, although corner seat, nobody in front nor next to me stand up - so ... being a good fan I didn't want to block other ppl view (also to be screamed at) and sit still. Darn ... the block in front were more energetic.

If such things happened - just step out of your block and join other people at the stairs or midlevel dancings ... unless the guard warns you or something. Heck, it's probably once in a lifetime opportunity to stand, dance, scream to your favorite artiste.

because each concert will last for 2-3 hours the most and all of us will be packed in a small area and everyone will be jumping up and down, so we get easily tired. and of course, at our indoor stadium, the chairs are a distraction and temptation to us!

I don think he will do that rite? though he did that before in his fantasy concert when he sang shi jie mo ri which is in taipei... by the look of the clothes he wore in other countries concert, it seems that he need to take out two pieces if he is gonna strip... so i don think he will do that... unless he is too high which will most probably happen on 27 nitz since that night have more fans goin compared to 26... haha n also that's his last day stay in singapore this time round.. hopefully he will come soon again for autograph session... hehe...

I've been to The Singapore Music Award...and I can say one thing... Those people who brought the back seats were standing jumping & screaming and the guards did NOTHING about it... ARH!!!
but those (Like me) who brought the front seats, were constantly reminded by the stupid idiotic guards to sit down...

I guess the onli concert that I really enjoyed myself was the one by Power Station, held years ago, where all the singers urged everyone to stand up and don't give a damm to the guards...and just party along...

I've been to the Zpop concert. It's held at the Padang. Well... Quite Diao. I was like standing all though.. Well...Not really... only one part... no singing... Fashion show.. people doing Cat walk... -.-" You can really see alot of people sitting down. It's like... i guess 20 mins... It's sooo boring. Really... I sat down with my fren... and searching for lightsticks on the grass... it's so fun!! I got my hands all dirty... the plastic broke and the liquid flowed out. Well.. the other parts of the concert... I was standing... Yah.. my fren too... Screaming all though... Not like we really love the artistes... but just to be like...Feel really High... Well... i was really high...=P Nice... Concerts are nice stuffs...Jay's concerts are FABULOUS. It gonna be...~~ =)

I wasnt prepared to stand up during the previous concert, but when the row in front starts to stand, well, it's like the Kallang roar, you have to stand to secure your sight. :D
The section of my seats last time were pretty wild, the ones behind us were dancing and singing away as well. But I guessed the row of girls infront of me were :dry: away as me and my pals were screaming and giggling at Jay's lyrics forgetting. (They were sitting rather reservedly.)

People are so stupid! I seriously can't FATHOM how people could humanly remain seated during numbers like Jiang Jun and Long Quan and still be... HUMAN! And the funny thing was, in front of where I was there were a few chairs laid out right in front of the stage. So there was this guy sitting at one of the back rows by himself, and in front of him, everyone was standing like throughout the thing! And he just remain sitting! How did he manage to see anything?

Even if he was alone it didn't matter because *I* was alone too but I didn't even give a crap, I just stood and jumped around and went crazy! Hello, I didn't pay good money to remain seated during JIELUN'S CONCERT and let him down!

Actually i think it depends on the crowd that is around you...If the crowd is Onz...then you will feel less embrassed...I am proud to say that the crowd sitting around me during the concert was Onz! So it was really easy to jump up and stand everytime Jay comes out...haha..

Actually i remember the first time i stood, there were some noises from the back...Luckily in the end, they stood also..haha..so we have almost the whole block standing i think...and Jay pointed in our direction a few times..=)

Well, if I see parents bringing along their children to a concert and converting their young ones into crazy diehard fans and fans of about 40 years and above waving their lightsticks hard and bopping their heads along. I see no reason why some should sit down thruout the whole concert, esp during the long quan, shuang dao and the like.. like what hisashiluv14 said, are they not human??

i went for the second night concert. this is the second indoor stadium concert i've been to so far, first one being last year's The One. reserve all my money for Jay's concert every year! :D

it was really high! once the lights are off, i started screaming hysterically and by the time he comes out, my voice is already almost gone! haha. i was sitting at the north side, those $128 seats, third row. stood up for almost the whole concert, especially when he walked towards my direction. luckily the people in front of me all stood up, waving lightsticks, except that they didnt scream as crazily as me, especially when he sang my favourite number ge qian. :shiny: felt a bit bad because i didnt really care whether people behind me can see or not. but well, i think for people who refuse to stand up during concerts, might as well just buy those $68 seats. no point in buying those front seats and spoil the atmosphere by not standing, even asking others in front of them to sit down?! luckily such things didnt happen to me, or else it will really spoil my mood in enjoying the concert.

was a bit sad because i expected the last song to be the same as friday night, qi li xiang. so halfway through that song already rushed down to my cab so that later can give chase. end up missed his drum performance... :cry: luckily managed to see him, so dont feel so bad... i miss jay... why does he only come to singapore for concerts... :sadangel:

i think for people who refuse to stand up during concerts, might as well just buy those $68 seats. no point in buying those front seats and spoil the atmosphere by not standing, even asking others in front of them to sit down.

:-x YAH!!! It happened to me on the first night of the concert....when Jay was singing Jiang Jun....for christ sake...read again...it's JIANG JUN!!!....the whole row of us were sooo tempted to jump out of our seats and do the hand action (putting the hands high up and shaking from front to back)....Jay was already doing that action over at my side...so...I asked the people beside me and the ones 2 rows behind me....they wanted to stand..but yah..as usual...they were afraid....that's still fine....I realised that right behind me was an auntie....but...I just couldn't help it....my friends and the person around me had already stood up and did that action...after a while....that auntie hitted me on my waist and said "eii...Kan Mei You Lei" (Cannot See..) ...wahhhhh......I was really :realmad: The worst thing is she was rude....If she had told me nicely to get me to sit down...I wouldn't be that angry...and I would gladly apologise.....

and another thing to be mad of.... the people infront of me were all so *DEAD*!!! I was so freaking dissappointed with these people...what's wrong with them?! and for your info...I was at the A35 block ($148)....the West side...the one facing the stage....these people there...do they know that they are so much luckier than people on the other side?!!.. the people over at the East side were so much better...all standing up and screaming when Jay went over....I was so jealous of the atmostphere there......

and like what jay~ivonne have said....there's really no point in these people who buy the $148 tickets...sitting at the very first few rows sitting down and "acting cool"...afraid of "embarrassment"....I would really give them that finger if I could.....and oh yah....NOT a single one of them bothered to bring a lightstick...the whole bunch of people infront of me didn't have a lightstick...and only 2 of them had....but...they were waving below thier shoulders...waving less then a 5 degree angle I guess......what the hell~

but luckily......the second night was way way better.....when the group of fans behind me came...I immediately asked them If they wanted to stand up...and they were like "OF COURSE!!..we must stand together!!".. :happy: and of course...I was way happier that night!!

anyway....that girl behind me was KiKi....the Hong Kong fan who spent $1000 mentioned on the Newpaper~ =)

was at 2nd night. sat at A05. my friends and i wanted to stand when yifuzhiming was just starting. haha. woot. yupp we were really high :D andd. of cos we stood and 'shook' our lightsticks back and forth. after awhile. this woman who was sitting behind us went like 'can you all sit down? youre blocking my view' was so pissed. grr. i mean. 130bucks is like ALOT of money and you just go there and SIT?! wanted to tell her to stand since she has legs. to the end, the girl beside her (whom im assuming is her daughter) went quite high too. hehs. could tell that she wanted to stand as well. :tongue: but. of cos the woman was there. grr. in the end couldnt stand it. cursing the whole concert. then like last few songs, just stood like that. haha. and my friend even asked her for permission -.-
after a few moments i just turned and look back and saw the whole area standing! muahahaha. just knew that it was too tempting. :harhar:
