Jay handed an extremely good report card this year. He took Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia and singapore by storm (and emptied their pockets!), and will be having his concert in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Las Vegas before the start of the new lunar calander next year. In addition to his present concert commitment, he was also the spokesman for two international brands, and his calander filled with many other commercial commitments in the next year, it is estimated that his present account is fatten by more than NT$10 million.

Currently the hottest thing around, Jay remained to be the moneymake of the chinese entertainment industry. He is not even affected by the current slagging economy. According to conventional calculations, his current earnings, from his present concert appointments to his commision from his commercials, 'Zhou Tong' (or Chairman Zhou, as he is affectionately known) now has assets of more than NT$10 million, and is leading in the current earnings of the other Taiwanese artistes, and is currently the target to beat for many others in the entertianment industry.

Other than royalties from his record sales, Jay's main source of income is from the proceeds of his concerts. Currently, to invite Jay to perform in his concert, would cost at least HK$1,500,000 (about NT$6,750,000). It is estimated that there will be at least 10 concerts to be held in Mainland China next year, and there were event organisers who offered to increase the price so as to get this Asia's hottest 'heavenly prince' to perform in their areas.

From the start of this year, with his concert at the Hong Kan Concert Hall, Jay is estimated to have eleven concert by the end of this lunar year. In 29 Sep this year, Jay held his concert extravaganza, costing more than NT$40,000,000 in production costs. In Dec, he would soon be holding his 5 night sol-out concert in Hong Kong again. In 11 Jan next year, he will be holding his first major concert in Singapore, there will be two nights of performances, following that, there are plans to hold at least one concert in Malaysia.

Based on these eleven concerts alone, Jay would have taken home more than NT$70,000,000. In adition to his concert, Jay was invited to countless commercial appearances. Also he is due to have his US leg of his world tour, in Las Vegas, during the Christmas season. Although this is not really considered a solo concert, however his mere appearance (without his band) would have gotten him about US$60,000.

With respect to his commercial appeal, there was little to critise. This year, two major international brands, namely Panasonic and Pepsi both invited Jay to be their spokesman. Although they paid an 8-figure amount for his endorsement, this amount was easily recovered, as reflected by the sales of the endorsed products. These were not the sole companies that longed to have Jay's name on their products, but Jay's company had been careful in their awarding of endorsement.

Recently, on the web, someone had taken Jay's photo from his handphone advertisements, and placed it on another popular drink ad, creating much humour. This also show how desperate some companies were to have Jay endorse their products.

MacDawn's Footnote:
Frankly, I dun care less how much he earned, but right now, I sure hope his company is giving him ample time to rest. His condition is usually made worse by bad weather and long period of sitting, so I sure hope Alfa would give him a break for these few days before his concert in Hong Kong.

I am sure the fans in Hong Kong wouldn't bear to see him hobbling around on the stage. I think I would weep if I saw him in that condition..... I intend to give BMG a call tomolo to tell them exactly the same

n
thing.....

What's the use of all the cash when you

r health is gone? You can't take all that with you, right? And like what I had translated a few days back... Jay doesn't care for all the money.... I really hope Alfa can help to create a bit of time for him to rest!!!

WOW.

that's a LOT of money. I think it's so cute how he doesn't really notice it :D I really do hope he gets better though.. it would be so hard for him to do 5 concerts in a row with a painful back.

But hey guys,

I just heard on an interview from the man himself.... he said he had only a 7-figure amount in his bank account, and he was joking that his mom was asking him what did he do with all the money described in the article.... (His mom is his financial advisor...)

I guess we have to take all such articles regarding the income of artiste with a nice big pinch of salt....
