Once again, I would really appreciate it if you don't post spoilers past the episodes that are currently airing in Taiwan unless it's with WHITE font. Thank you very much.

Ai Qing Mo Jie / Magic Ring is another new TW idol show. It stars Zheng Yuan Chang aka Joe Cheng who was in the 2003 show Qiang Wei Zhi Lian / The Rose. It was previously a J dorama that's been remade by Taiwan. Like Mars, it's airing one per week on Saturday and so far only episode one has been aired.

Synopsis
---credits to Yuan Chang Family

Ring of Love is a story about a rich family and the triangle love between one guy and two ladies. The basic story evolves around those people who live in a glamorous house.

Du Jing Hang (Yuan Chang) is the second son of the family. He is a unsuccessful lawyer who works past time in auto shop. He has a bad relationship with his rich father. One day, unfortunately, the eldest son passed away and left a mess for his family. This mess is Xiao Jun, his girlfriend who is pregnant. Since then, Xiao Jun moved in to Jing Hang's house. At first, Jing Hang had bad impression on Xiao Jun but later hate became love.

Then the story goes on between this two and another lady in a complicated way. Who's Jing Hang gonna end up with?? Will Jing Hang and his father make amends?? What will happen with the lady who's being rejected?? What's gonna happened to this three poor souls who are unfortunately entangled in the ring of love?? Wonder if its good.. there is also another tv series in FTV called "Zuai Fong Shao Nien" same timeslot as this, starring Stella Huang it also looks interesting basicly its about baseball .. >< oops! Ho Ho Ho i'm back here again. :shy: How do u all like it ? My impression for this is that the scene is very beautiful. The first volume is not too draggy. One thing i could notice about Joe is that he's really high ! ( i mean he always shout loud ) ha ha. :bleh: Well , i'm not good at describe things so i'll leave it to others to add more then.

Jakinni : Do u know it's a remake of what j dorama ? or manga ? The storyline seems really familiar for me but couldn't think of it.

Hooray! Something new to watch. I've been feeling abit dry since Mars and Dou Yu 2 ended. Is this show nice? Worth watching? This Joe guy reminds me of You Hong Ming in the second pic.

The story's pretty interesting so far, though I'm thinking it will be kind of predictable from now onwards.

Cheyanne, have you seen Joe in Qiang Wei Zhi Lian?? If not, I HIGHLY recommend that drama. Maybe watch it before this for proper Joe Cheng appreciation. :love:

linfaye, I thought it was a remake of a J dorama by the same name. At least I've seen it for download by BT before and it's also called Ai Qing Mo Jie. I'm not sure if it was originally a manga, though I would think it probably was.

I've updated my first post with the torrent link for episode 2. I've also changed the link to episode 1 so hopefully for those who haven't downloaded yet can do so now. I believe both do not require registration. Any problems let me know.

So has anyone actually watched the first 2 episodes? And more importantly, can come and talk about it with me? :tongue:

I think the story is so far so good. The main female character kinda annoyed me at times with her loud personality. But then again, female characters tend not to interest me much in idol shows anyways. It's all about the hot guy eye candy. I'm still not totally used to Joe in this role as his Kui character in The Rose was so memorable. I still do see traces of that character in this role. The sad misunderstood character. However, now it seems he will have 2 girls chasing after him so it makes up for the bad ending in The Rose a bit I suppose. :tongue:

I'm having a bit of a hard time with the fact that the Yu Qing/Xiao Jun is pregnant. I wonder how this romance will develop with that problem. Especially since the father of the baby is such a bastard. But the fact that she's pregnant and they will develop a romance between her and Jing Heng makes it like he has to pick up the pieces for her. I dont' know, we'll see.

Oh and the fact that the father wants him to develop a relationship with Ke Ting for the sake of his brother kinda doesn't swallow with me. It doesn't make any sense. Simply illogical no matter how you cut it. It's too obvious of a plot device to create some angst between the main characters. It's kind of like forcing the love triangle and make it harder for the 2 main characters to get together. I don't like that.

jakinni, I have not watched Qiang Wei Zhi Lian. I don't know, somehow the actors in the show does not appeal to me much.

My BT has been super slow these couple of days. I've been trying to DL Dou You 2 now that it's finished airing and it's been barely 20mbs after a whole day. I usually have quite high download speeds. :cry:

Cheyanne, WATCH Qiang Wei!!!! I watch many shows, but I don't recommend many. Out of all the idol shows I've seen I would only truly recommend Meteor Garden, Qiang Wei, and Mars. That's it. I had the exact same sentiments as you about the lack of hot guys from the pictures of the show, but it was like Joe obsession afterwards. :love: Have faith! :-)

This just started airing last week so I doubt it they would released it on VCD so soon, usually they start doing it 1/3 into the series!

If you hate BT, I have alternatives on http://therose.fateback.com (the forum). But if you have it configured correctly, BT should be the fastest way to get them, it's very highly seeded.

The show is alright so far, it's not bad, but not like obsessively into it. Only watching it because Joe's in it :D

The girl is too loud for me, too, but then I realized she was in Qian Nu You Hun and she was cool in there, so maybe she'll be more likeable later.

Yes, even though there's spoilers in this thread, we would really appreciate it if it's given with a warning or something beforehand. For some of us, it kind of defeats the purpose of watching if you already know the ending, regardless of how predictable thigns are. Thanks. :happy:

So NO ONE WATCHES THIS SHOW!?!? :glug: I just watched Episode 4 and saw the previews for Episode 5 and I have to say OMG!!! For Joe lovers, there's a scene in the preview that so reminds me of Kui as a model in The Rose. :love:

I finally caught the 1st 2 epsiodes of this show. I've got to say that it's better than what I've expected so far. At least the pace is not as draggy. BTW, is the female lead Zhang Ting? I love her dimples. Hey, jakinni, I've got to say that Joe (he's the male lead, right?) looks rather good. After awhile, his face kind of stick on you. It's up to episode 5 already? Gosh am I slow, I'm still downloading episdoe 3....

No, episode 5 is not out yet, only episode 4 was out today. I just saw the preview for episode 5 at the end of ep 4 and it looks like good stuff!!

Cheyanne, if you think he looks good here, watch Qiang Wei Zhi Liang. He's so dreamy in there! :love: Even though he wasn't the main character, it's like the show is all about him. Wouldn't have watched it so much without him. It's like anime femme guys, masculine and sensitive at the same time and a beautiful face. :love: I don't know the actress's name, she's cute, but kind of loud at times in the show.

newg, for me, it looks like Xiao Jun was a bit jealous when she saw Joe so hot in his party get up talking happily with Ke Ting. And that hug between Xiao Jun and Jing Hang was so nice. Anyway, he just looks hot in that white suit for the party and she looks not bad either. Just looks like a lot of development of the romance storyline in the next episode. Can't wait.

fish7 Why don't you like to change your cable to Destiny or Global? Destiny is far more cheaper than Sky or Home Cable.

yeah, i've tried to call destiny cable because my father finally gave in to me but stupid destiny cable telephone operator does not answer! they placed me on hold for about 15 minutes and when i tried to email them i didn't get any response. :-x

I've finally caught episode 3&4 of this show. I have a feeling this show is going to torture me the same way Mars did. The waiting!!!! I have to wait a week before the next episode. Argghhh!!!!

Oh Jakinni, I saw the preview for episode 5 too. And you are right. *spoilers*Xiao Jun looks jealous when she saw Ke Ting and Joe (what's his name in the show? Jun Hang or something?) together. When I saw that, I was like, FINALLY!! I was beginning to wonder when will they start liking each other. Oh and is Xiao Jun's mom the ex-girlfriend of Joe's dad or something? It's like, the music that Xiao Jun knows and the story about the ring and everything seems to be very important to Joe's dad and Xiao Jun's mom too. Oh and I can't help but keep thinking that maybe Joe's dad is not his birth father or maybe Joe did something which made his dad hates him so much.
fish7, wow. Looks like I've really got to go watch Qiang Wei Zhi Lian. Everyone seems to be promoting it.

Cheyanne, yeah that music thing with the moms gets me suspicious too. At first I was like don't tell me they'll turn out to actually be related!! Like brother and sister. :crazy: :cry: And you're right, I love his lips too, there's a kind of a pouty action going on, just makes me wanna bite it. :shifty: And he's got such a nice side profile, let me dig one up from Qiang Wei. Oh and can I saw of the few kissing scenes I saw in the end theme song, it's quite well done. I love that one by the lake. Kissing in Taiwan shows are getting better. I still remember the stiff ones in MG.

newg, Well of course she has to start liking him some time, so just because she's helping them get together doesn't mean she won't start developing feelings for him as well. Otherwise, where's the story?

Arggghhhh!!! I'm so disappointed with episode 5. The most recent episode is 5, right? Anyway, I'm so so so disappointed with it. From the preview in episode 4, I was expecting episode 5 to have the 2 love-birds finally realising their love for each other and everything but argh! I felt so let down. And why did Xiao Jun run away when she saw them talking? She don't seem to be jealous of Joe and his gf's closeness. Or did I miss something there?

I can't wait for them to finally get something started. How many episodes are there in this show? I wonder how Joe will start voicing out his feelings for her. I mean, they will start falling for each other before everyone finds out the truth about her being an imposter, right? So, wouldn't it be kind of weird for Joe. It's like lusting after your brother's wife. Hmm... maybe that's when he'll start controlling his feelings for her. And so, what's going to happen to her baby? I can't help but feel that her baby is getting in the way of their happily-ever-after story. Ahhhh... maybe she'll miscarry and that's when Joe would not be able to contain his feelings for her any longer seeing her so sad and everything. God. I'm so desperate for the weekly updates and see what happens next that I'm beginning to make up the storyline on my own. Pathetic.

Oh and did I mention that I can't stand that niu-niu girl? She's kind of wooden in her acting and seriously, why did they include her in the storyline?

Jakinni, I know!!!! The first thought that came to my mind was them being siblings. But I immediately rejected the idea coz it's kinda incestuous. And I bet having incest is not on the scriptwriter's agenda. And that's when I thought Joe might not be his father's natural son afterall. That would explain the rotten way he's treating him. But the situation could be kinda weird if that's the case so I concluded that Xiao Jun's mom is his ex-lover or something like that. See. I'm really pathetic and the need to see the development of this story is driving me out of my mind. Argghhh!!!

I watched the latest episode.

Gosh, that scene of the 2 of them by the lake was so nice, sweet. BUT, that scene at the end of the episode where she's crying and ..... dayum, it was ruined by the nose smushing!! I know it's supposed to be intimate, but it was totally distracting and made me :oops:

I also have to say I find Xiao Jun kind of annoying. She's too loud and obnoxious sometimes. And the times that she is nice, it's always to his dad, who by the way, I find totally a hypocrite. Her behaviour to Joe is just too annoying to me. It's like only occasinally nice. So I don't really see how he could fall for her just like that. *sigh* Am I being too critical?

Oh oh and I also find the little girl a bit annoying and creepy. She reminds me of a middle aged woman stuck in a little girl's body. :oops: I know it's purposely done that she's supposed to be mature, but that maturity makes her boring to watch and it's like she's trying too hard to be cute too. When she talks, we should find it cute that a little girl can have such mature thoughts, but I just find it annoying and her trying to act too mature.

Hehe, ok enough complaints. Joe is hot.

I also don't think they'll end up as siblings, but still, it's weird if the dad's had some kind of relationship with her mom.

omg. Jakinni, I can't believe how much I agree with you on the nose-rubbing part. When they showed that scene, I was cringing and was waiting for one of their noses to drop off. Joe was rubbing his nose against Xiao Jun's so hard. And why in the hell didn't the both of them just kiss instead of doing the nose rubbing thing? Did they or rather Joe think that he would get a better kick out of rubbing two noses over kissing? WHAT WAS HE THINKING???

But newg, at least now I can see how Joe can fall for Xiao Jun without the burden of guilt for having unpure thoughts about his brother's wife. I mean, after she tells him the truth, he is free to fall for her without restrictions. Ok, besides the she's a "conwoman" reservations he would have.

Just to let everyone knows that Ai Qing Mo Jie’s vcds are out for sell now in Singapore. I had rented it to watch. It is from episodes 1 to 10. And Cheyanne said it is so slow in developing their relationship, I agreed. Please don’t happened that they are together only for a while then something breaks them up.. :oops:

Anyway the Xiao Jun is pretty stupid. I meant why the heck is she pushing Joe toward any other girl?! :dry:
See now that she slowly realizing she falling for Joe but couldn’t said anything because she the one who pairs them together in the first place when Joe has no interest in that girl. How are they going to untangle this mess?!
In episode 10 Joe and Xiao Jun finally start to realize that they are falling for each other. And as for the housekeeper, her only purpose is to make situation worse. Wouldn’t be surprise if she purposely cause Joe to mistaken Xiao Jun.

Still I think Joe looks great in this show. Especially when he wore that white suit *faint* during the ball. :drool:
Any guess on how it will end?

Newg: Really?! Taiwan only showing up to 7 huh? I rented the vcds so I guessed it is faster. The vcds up to episode 10.

Around episode 8 or 9 and Joe will knows the truth about Xiao Jun lying to them. I look forwards to the later part of the show. Can't wait :crazy:

But I also like the scene when he is acting with Niu Niu (the little girl). They are eating cup noodles together and Joe is like trying to cheer the little girl up. And they are sort of nervous, afraid that the girl will cried. His expression is so cute!!! :excited:

Ive watched until eps.10 ( eps.7 in taiwan). I read some of ur comments..

MM I think niu niu is quite cute ler...she just acted mature to cover her sadness, perhaps:)

I didn't know that a different between the vcds and the Taiwan version. So the latest is Esp 10 for vcds and esp 7 for Taiwan. Hmm.. I have to keep in mind. Thanks for the clarification Noopie.

snowflake That is what happen in epi 7! Wherein the maid and Jiang Hang knew that she is Xiao Jun. I think the series is long and wont fit into the disc so they have to extend it up to the next disc also my friend ( who is recording every series she loved ) told me that if you bought vcds version some of the scences will be cut inorder of the series/ epi to be fitted into one disc. Hope this helps! ^^

awww how sad am i that this show is over...i really really liked the ending though, it was too cute. i liked that this drama didn't go overboard with the obstacles that everyone faced (well i didn't think all the random opposition was TOO bad...). overall a pretty good drama, though i thought the beginning was kinda slow. now what to watch in its place...?

Perhaps you can try Love contract, Mars or my recent favourite, a Korean drama called Full house.. :excited:

ooh sounds interesting, since i like both joe and ariel...although i don't like watching dramas with the same characters because i get attached to couples from previous dramas and hate seeing these people with new love interests. boo!

i think that's one reason i don't want to watch love contract, because i really liked ariel and her love interest in secret garden 1 and 2. mars...ehh i've read a little of the manga and didn't like it so much. not really into korean dramas. i'm sure i'll find something though...i'm just starting to download "xian jian qi xia zhuan" with ady an and i don't know who else...it looks interesting, in a cheesy, overdone ancient series sort of way.

I've completed the whole series except that I missed an episode in between. I think it was episode 10, taiwan version. What happened? What did Winnie Qian's boyfriend (that idiotic lawyer, I can't recall his name) do to cause Xiao Jun to land up in hospital?

Anyway, after watching the whole thing, I've still got to say this. I still can't stand Niu Niu!!! And for a while there, Xiao Jun was getting on my nerves as well. Why did she have to push Joe Chang away? It's like, she spent an entire episode (which means 1hr 16mins for the taiwan version) pushing Joe away and then boom. All it took was 10mins to get back together and 20mins (this part is estimation only as I was fast forwarding ALOT by then) with his father's approval. Joe looks kinda weird the last part with his hair slick straight.....

the complete series is already out here in RP! i just don't know if the copy is clear or if it was taken from tv. i'm planning to by the set if i have money already...
well, for those who were able to watched it, do you think it's worth the money? i'm also planning to buy a good copy of mars because my copy is very blurry, i can't see the chinese subtitles!

Seriously I'm disappointed in this drama. :dry: The plot is weak and too draggy. Not my kind of drama. I watch it just for the sake of Joe. I look forwards to his next drama, Prank Kiss. I have great expectation for this show.. :happy:

Finally, I have finished "Magic Ring". I loved the ending part and it was great, though there was alot of crying :cry: in this show.

mmmm for me,

joe's acting has improved alot....but just the beginning, he's too overreact...and screamed too much...

hmmm but lately he's acting more natural....and not bad..

and agree with snowflakes, im waiting for joe's new drama, PRANK KISS

too bad, the shooting need to stop for a moment....waiting ariel to come back.....hope they can start as soon as possible..

about 'magic ring'

i dont really like the lead actress in this drama....

the ending too fast and i just cant accept the reason for jing hang to leave suddenly and came back out of nowhere after 2 years without any news...

the story is still weak...and can improve more actually...

i spent 65dlr for this...and kinda upset coz my expectation of this drama was really big....

mmmm im not saying magic ring is bad drama....is just a middle average drama....

i hope another joe's drama will be good!! wahahahah

watever the result is...i will always support joe^^

I watched till the part whereby the two of them fell in love already and the dad knew that the girl is not his real daughter-in-law...=)

i finally finished watching the movie....
i thought it was good up to when xiao jun left with jing hang to leave outside instead of their house...then the whole plot with the land and revenge from the bad guy...got kinda boring....
i like joe, hes cute! didnt really like all the screaming though.......lol
overall i think it was pretty good, cant wait for prank kiss!!!! does anyone kno the synopsis of it????
and by the way, whos ariel??
i saw in the posts that shes gonna be the lead in prank kiss and she played in secret garden, i watched secret garden already, can someone tell me which one is her??
