[Anime] Mai Hime

This is a pretty new series, and up till now, only four episodes are out. But it's freaking good! I rarely ever watch movies with girls as the main character because it tends to be all whiny and BS (like fushigi yuugi) but this is so different!

So the story starts out with this girl named Mai that is going to this school far away on scholarship. She finds out that she has powers and is probably the strongest one of all and can summon this huge ass monster. They are summoned to the school for a reason and it's to fight these creatures that are attacking the...world? I'm not sure yet but it's pretty good. It's linear, she summons cool monsters, has good powers, and she's not a damn crybaby! The animation is good, the art is pretty cool, and there's enough jokes without overdoing it.

It's a good anime !! EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT NOW AND DISCUSS WITH ME!!!

Summary:

Mai Tokiha is a Hime. A Hime is a person who has special powers that can summon a creature (looks like a giant robot animal) that can cause major destruction. Mai is a poor, hardworking student taking care of her brother who seems to have heart problems. She unwillingly agreed to be a Hime to protect her brother. Apparently, there are other girls at the school that are also Himes, most of them unwillingly.

Mashiro is the director of the school and part of an organization called the First District. They are fighting another organization called the Searrs Foundation. Apparently, the Searrs people want to capture the Himes to use their power. Mashiro wants them to fight to protect the school. Weird.

So Mai, the unwilling Hime, is apparently the strongest one since she gets this huge fire bird. She's in love with Tate, who has an unrelated little "sister" that's also in love with him. Reito, a member of the student body, likes Mai. Bizarre love triangle.

I was just looking for something to fill that void Naruto, which is quite boring right now, just can't fill. Is it like 1 episode a week as well?? I tend to want to watch complete series so I don't have to sit through the agony of waiting. Especially if it's as good as you say. Ah what the heck, I'm downloading episode 1 now. :D

I love Mai Hime!!!!!!! Its up to episode 6 or 7, but i'm waiting for my favorite fan-sub to sub it! *sigh* Why do they have to be so slow. I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes. I love the sword girl, i forgot her name :cry: Its been a long time since i watched an episode.

I thought this was gonna be those shoujo type of anime esp with a girl as the lead.
So far only watched episode 1 and I kinda like it.

What's up with the premature ending on episode 15 people?!?!?!?!??!!??! Has anyone seen it?! What the heck? Are they short of budget or something? I mean, dude, Mai doesn't even develop her powers, why the heck did she have to do something like that for?

Is it really the ending? If you watch til the end they have a preview for the next episode. I heard that Mai Hime is 24 episodes. I don't think Mai really _________ T_T or.... well.. we'll see i guess. :bleh:

maybe MAi is 'the one' among those Himes....like in bleach, ichigo is the most powerful, in matrix, neo is the one, in a chinese movie 'kungfu', stephen chow is 'the one'...hehe i think nobody understands what i'm saying...just trying to say Mai will become the mopst powerful 1. :P

I don't think it was the ending.
The anime is listed for 26 episodes I think so currently it's in progression to the next arc.

I'm pretty confused about the storyline for this anime, I still don't understand half the time what's happening.

Hmmm I wouldn't compare it with Naruto.
This seems more shoujo than shounen for me. Though it packs action as well as some fanservice.

I just saw episode 16! It's good! Dude, I think Reita is hot hot hot~! And I hate Tate's hair, it's like such a typical ABC boy hair cut. And I think Shiho's infatuation with Tate is just SICK! I hate that little girl!

oy the most recent episodes (like 18-21) have been kinda confusing. I guess they will explain it better in the future episodes. Mai has become a.... i dunno T_____T just like uncool i guess :laughing: She's so mean, but i guess its justifiable but... what she did to Mikoto... ( i don't want to spoil it for others) I can't wait to watch more.

Shiho is a X__X. I agree. I was thinking maybe she could fall of a cliff or something...

omg, I just watched episode 23 and its soooooooooo freaking good! I haven't waited for the next episode so desprately for ANY anime in such a long time! There are some loose ends I hope they tie up, but in a total of 26 short episodes, can we say SUPERB character development here?!?!?!?

Omg serious? I actually think it's true. They ended it with some girl running across the screen in the back signalling that it would be continued! This is so great! I haven't been so eagerly waiting an anime since..... since I can't remember!

According to Sunrise, they're having a sequel. And the main character is the girl that ran across the screen like Chun Li mentioned.

Her costume looks like the technology/mecha evolved or upgraded. Can't wait to hear more about it. I enjoyed the previous season very much. And I hope the original characters remain or appear from time to time.

i hope that mai hime 2 will have more episodes and the storyline will be longer compare to the first series..

i have being watching mai hime all time.. i love the anime.. the characters and the graphics some part of it is really nice..
but too bad the episode is so short, i thought it could be longer.
its okay because after hearing that mai hime 2 is releasing soon, i just cant wait for it..

hm.. mai hime is pretty good... it goes a bit weird though... especially towards the end.. after everyone had somewhat "disappeared" and it was just mai and a few others alive..
but i guess it was still pretty good.. the ending was a bit too ... "happy happy joy joy" for me though...bit cliche
