Hello everybody, This is Daniel Lee. I'm so glad to listen from you guys about my performance in Jay's The One Concert (Malaysia).

I just felt so GOD D*** LUCKY to be Jay's guest artist. Everything was just like a dream, 'till I can't believe that was me. I'm so happy that I have the chance to part of the concert.

Wish I could listen more comment about my performance, either positive or negative, beacuse I'm totally not a professional singer and I know I need to improve myself a lot.

I think you were great at the concert, bet you felt really touched! My friend was telling me how she'd cry on stage if she were you! I mean, they even coordinated the lighting and everything for your song!
I think your singing was great! It sounded really good, like you were not even nervous!

Actually I've been registered to be the member since March if not mistaken. I've read a lot of the forum but I never post one. After Jay's Malaysian tour only, I found that I got something to share with. So I made my 1st post, I hope that's not too late for everybody.

Alright, here I'd like to share my backstage experience of the concert. But sorry, no picture yet.

16 May, Jay was having his rehearsal. The manager called me to rehearse with Jay as well. When I reached Merdeka Stadium, 5.30pm, Jay was practicing "Shang Hai 1943", he wore the same black cap, yellow T-shirt, 1/2 length black pants, and his Nike sports shoes. After he finished that song, the producer asked me to rehearse my part, they wanted me to sing "Hei Se You Mo". Gosh! They didn't tell me that... Anyway, that's not important, I think I can memorize the lyric, just sing it. Surprisingly, I have to sing with the band, not just me and my guitar alone. Oh, I really felt like a star. Then Jay came to me and said to producer, "Ta bu bi yong zhe dong xi (ear-phone) ma? Bu guo ye man diao de." (Does he need to use this thing (ear-phone)? But still sound quite good.) Then they discuss how to introduce me, Jay said, "Wo jiang hui jie shao ni, ran hou ni jiu chu lai" (I'll introduce you, then you come out). And that's ALL the things he said. He doesn't talk much, really. Then I left, and Jay continued his parts.

"Ta bu bi yong zhe dong xi (ear-phone) ma? Bu guo ye man diao de."
“他不必用這東西 (耳機) 嗎﹖不過也蠻屌的。”

"Wo jiang hui jie shao ni, ran hou ni jiu chu lai"
“我將會介紹你﹐然後你就出來”

After dinner, 8.30pm, we back to stadium for a full rehearsal. This time I didn't even have chance to talk to him nor get close to him. Just wait for my turn to rehearse. But this time, Jay's mum captured some picture of me when I was singing (So happy). When I've just finished, the Star Planet authorities said, "You may leave now"... Huh! ~_~ *Disappointed. I thought I could stay longer to watch the whole rehearsal. Anyway, Jay didn't really practice his songs seriously. Huh!! ~_~ **Disappointed again.

17 May, The Concert Day. We all reached stadium around 5.00pm, included Jay. The Taiwanese having their praying ceremony, I was just doing nothing and nothing I can do. Again, I don't even have the chance to talk to him nor get close to him. Even when I asking for autograph, I have to give my stuffs through his assistance to get his signature. Anyway, he signed all my stuffs and left a message for me, "Ni shi di yi ge zai yan chang hui zui te bie de te bie lai bin, hao hao jia you, ba ni de meng xiang wan cheng" (You are the 1st one who is the most special guest artist in the concert. Work harder. Let your dream come true.) I'm so happy to receive this hand-written message. I'll scan it.

When the concert started, I was waiting at the very back of the backstage (near entrance). I could only watch the "mirror image" of the project

or screen (So pity), but I enjoyed myself singing and screaming alone. When Jay sang "Fen Lie", I was called to stand by. I was SO EXTREMELY nervous,
the next song is my turn. But don't know why, I felt better when I came on the stage. Then Jay asked me, "Jin Zhang ma?" (Are you nervous). I answered, "yi dian dian" (A little). And he left, I started to sing.

"Jin Zhang ma?"
“緊張嗎﹖”

"yi dian dian"
“一點點”

After finished my part, I went to change outfit, because I was afraid loads people can recognize me. And yes! That's me, I wore red cap (not orange), black singlet and red pants. Then I went the VVIP seat to watch the rest of the show.

Finally, the concert finished and we went to the party. While in the party, Jay's mum came to me, she shook my hand and praise me (So Happy). And I take this opportunity to take a picture with her. This time, I’ve been SUCCESSFULLY talked to Jay. I asked him to let me take a picture with him alone. He agreed then he said, “Ni chang de hen hao” (You sang very well). VERY VERY VERY HAPPY!!!

Huh! It was an unforgettable day for me. I felt so lucky and proud to have a chance to perform on the same stage with Jay. I just wish that the dream will never end, but unfortunately it ended up without any goodbye. We “lost” contact, just like that.

anyway, my friend thought that daniel wanted to imitate jay chou but i strongly disagreed with him. At first, i felt that jay's voice was getting a bit monotonous as the concert went on (i guess that's his style) plus he did not interact much with fans. so it did not get me going......until when daniel performed, it did make me sit up again because of the more deeper, louder voice and crystal clear pronounciation. in addition, we have to give credit to your guts and composure.... facing 15,000 people for the first time while giving us such fantastic performance.....a pat on your back..

do you join any singing contests in KL? there is one going on in Shining Star (Ampang).

In my opinion, i think you did a great job and done yourself proud.

Actually I failed to enter any of the local University. I'm now just working as a part-time singer at the Cafe in Penang. So I really hope that if there any record company, come and find me.

On the concert day, the manager of Star Planet came to see me. He asked me my conctact number and he will call me for audition. But I was thinking, Star Planet didn't do well for Jay's concert actually. It's hard for me to trust the manager. Well, anyway, they haven't called me up for the audition. What do you guys think? What shall I do, "IF" they ask me to sign contract?

Hi, my name is Chai Kuang. I'm one of the four winners who won the pass to Jay's concert post party. I felt so lucky for being picked to join the party where i can take photo and shake hand with Jay. Yeah, i took photo with his mum and know Daniel in the party too. :yeah:

Hmmm....Daniel's performance in the concert really really brilliant until now I've become his fan too...haha....His performance won't lose to those recording artistes, right?

But I was thinking, Star Planet didn't do well for Jay's concert actually. It's hard for me to trust the manager. Well, anyway, they haven't called me up for the audition.

Maybe, it's a bit out of topic for this post, but I'd like to say that.

In year 1999, I went for The Corrs' concert organise by Salem. It was so fabulous but the most expensice ticket is just RM120. But everything was so great, including the sound, light, stage, tickets...

To compare with other company like Salem Cool Planet, Peter Styverson, Galaxie... Star Planet is the worst one. This is what I think:

1. The tickets - Tickets that sold on the launching day must be the best seat. But what they did was, anybody who reserve first, can get a better seat. Then what is the meaning of "Lauching". If so I'd rather just reserve through phone and stay at home instead of making a long que and wait for more than 4 hours. That's unfair.

2. Service - This is what I heard from a reporter. They just allowed only 1 reporter for interview and photographing from each press and mag. Plus, no lunch for them, just high tea. And no dol-gift but the other companies do have. And I remember, they treated my friends very bad when I went to the rehearsal. Othe concert day, the taiwanese said that I could actually go to Stadium Merdeka later about 8pm, but Star Planet authority ordered me to come earlier 5pm, and I was doing nothing but wait until the concert started.

3. Expensive contest - A lot of money contributed to Star Planet for playing SMS games to win the VVIP tickets, meet the fans session, and the concert party. ONLY A FEW winners will get the prizes, but there are actually thousands of people paid their expensive phone bills to play the games.

4. On the concert day - Don't you feel the stage is a bit too low?? When everybody stand up, you can't see anything that happened on the stage. My friend said, when Jay sang "Zui Hou de Zhan Yi", she thought there were no dancer on the stage, but actually there are. And the guards didn't control the whole situation, they didn't stop those indicipline audience that stood on chair.

Maybe you will think that some of the reasons I gave are quite non-sense, but it really makes me feel that it shouldn't be happened that serious.
PS: Sorry to Star Planet, I didn't really want to say this, but it really happened.

Hi, simply_jay and coldmetaljay. in the concert post party, i sat on the same table with daniel, the 3 other winners, 2 of daniel's friends and a 988 DJ. then, we start to talk and take some photos b4 jay arrive. jay appear at about 12.++am. he talk for a while and open champagne with the sponsors while we were eating something. then the master of ceremony starting to ask sponsors, winners of sms contest, staffs of starplanet, 2 Hong Kong fans.....to go on stage to take photos with jay one by one.

jay seldom smile :depresse: and he didn't interact with us too....he only praised daniel for singing very well in the concert when daniel is taking photo with him. i was the camera man then...haha...jay don't eat, may be the more delicious food is waiting for him in his room.

after taking photos, i saw a reporter is interviewing jay. then, he go to the table where all the sponsors sitting and talk for a while. after that, he went to somewhere near the exit of the ballroom and took pics with others...by this time, all the fans waiting outside who don't have passes came in and took photos with jay too...jay suddenly disappeared while we were talking at our table there. and everybody is asking "where's jay"? we only saw his mum still there. by the time, it's already 1.++am.

actually i have to agreed with daniel. Star Planet did not really do a very good job. I heard that Star Planet did not paying a dime for the whole concert cos the sponsors pretty much paid for everything. So they actually made big bucks! Business! About the tickets, i heard about that too from HK fans. They said that they reserve their tixs way way before the launching. I hope the new music company will give it to a better organizer next time.

well i'd have to agree with daniel that the organisers did not do a good job with the concert. i can't see much to be honest, had to look at the screen most of the time. it did not help that the people right in front of me was standing on their chairs all the time, so i had to do the same thus the rest of the people at the back of me too. yup the stage was way TOOO low that's why we couldn't see much. i had to practically strain just to catch a glimpse of jay from afar and it didn't help that i wasn't that tall. hey i bought the 220 tickets and i was seated quite at the back already. it was crap i would say the organising of the whole thing. anyways, STAR PLANET is just out to make money only aka quantity, like they really care about the quality of the whole thing.

Daniel: what do you mean by "IF" they call and sign you? If there is any recording company thinks you are good enough, go ahead man!!! you won't know until you try. honestly, what have you got to lose? even if the entire thing doesn't work out, the important thing is that you had a chance to at least being able to live it, do not sit and ponder about "WHAT IF"s then you will regret big time! but do not count much on STAR PLANET, afterall they are only event organisers not recording company. Anyways, all the best yeah!!!

I have a very surprise news to tell you guys. :excited: A Senior Promotions Executive of Sony Music wanted to meet me tonight. This is how the story goes...

Today, Kwong Wah Press (Malaysian Chinese Press) was organising "Pan Mei Chen Music Forum" and my friend from the press company asked me to be a performing artist (again) for the function. Actually I was unprepared and I just planned to play guitar for my friend to sing her own composing. But the host (he's my friend) just blown-out and said, "Hey, this guy is the guest artist of Jay Chou blah blah blah... :dry: He asked me to sing. And again, I was just simply sing Pan Mei Chen's song called "Wo Xiang You Ge Jia" (I Wish to have a Home), a song that I haven't sung for 10 years. *Didn't do well actually. Maybe everybody knows I am the guest artist of Jay. So when the function finished, the Sony people called to Kwong Wah Press to find me. He asked me to meet him tonight after Pan Mei Chen function. :angel: Maybe I'll be receiving a great news from Sony Music.

I felt so lucky, everything was like arranged by GOD, I didn't even wanted to sing in the forum at first, but my friend need my help for the guitar. So I chose to go. But I didn't know that Sony Music is doing this function, and they found me.

Maybe you guys are right. This is how "Self Promoting" works... Thanks... :love:

as i was reading through your previous post, i couldnt help thinking how similar it was to J's 'discovery'. not sure whether you are familiar with how J was discovered, but he also went to play an accompaniment for a friend who sang at a singing competition, and he was discovered there. the similarity is that you also went to a function to play guitar for your friend...it might be sign of great things to come!

wuh huh?!?what happened?!? how come i never saw this topic?!?! :bang: anywayz Daniel this might help u so like other memebers said...u could send ur demo to various music companies....since i want to be a singer myself i have researched a bit about how to get a manager attention :) (or the person looking for new talents) by creating a demo tape with only about 2 or 3 songs but keep them breif....and if u write the lyrics...then type up a short(also brief) introduction about what the lyrics mean....and also u should start out with the song that u believe shows ur talent most b/c most likely they would listen to a bit of the first song...and then skim through the rest b/c there are hundreds or even more other demos that they have to listen to....also dont have a too...unstraight forward song title that u put on the demo cover/case thing.....also u could try singing in more than one cafe/club/restaurant/ and stuff like that.....hehe i hope this helps^_^ and just one more thing....i hope u fullfill ur dream to be a singer one day :happy: , also haha one more thing Daniel....i was told that room temp. water helps to make the voice come out crisp and clear and if u ever have a sore throat before th day having to sing....u should gurgle salt water...or drink water with ginger in it....although it tastes bad....ive been told it works quite well :D

You're very lucky to be Jay's special guest star. *sigh* Oh... it's once in a lifetime experience isn't it. Just curious though, did you sleep well the day after the concert. B'coz people sometimes got so excited that they can't sleep the day before and after the big event. Well, I'm sure you were really excited about it and wish that it can happen again.

Hmm... find it weird that Jay looks so tense in most of the pics. But he looks good, though. He never smille, did he?? Is it his own style, or he's just tense after the concert??? I wonder.

Jay's fan and Daniel's supporter. I entered contest to have dinner on Christmas eve 2005 with Daniel but I guess, others emailed faster and more correct than I did. Furthermore, my chinese is not good.
A year is close since I last attended Incomparable to Jay's concern in Malaysia which was held January last year. It was superb plus touching because Jay & I are both born exact same dd/mm/yy. Therefore, our lunar birthday was on the same day. The concert was held on our lunar birthday and he sang 祝我生日快乐. It was sooo... touchy. Birthday song from Idol who was born on the same day as myself. Although I could never get close to Jay or even Daniel, my support for them is to stay. Daniel is so lucky and his hard work pays.
