Was kinda surprised that no one created a topic for him over here. I know there is mention of him somewhere in one of the threads, but not just one full thread of him. So, I decided to create one over here.

I am sure there are a lot of KimuTaku fans out here. So, just share with us what you think about him. Whether he's overrated or the real stuff?

I just watched [2046] yesterday ... gosh ... he's so charming as ever, be it in that slick hairdo or that funky hair. Just hate those moustache though, thanx to Tony Leung! For those of you who watched it, you know what I mean.

Watched him in [Pride] recently and there was a re-run of [Sleeping Forest] on cable too. So, please share your thoughts.

he's definitely one of the men that 'millions are mad' over. first saw him in the tv series 'the gift'. i think my eyes were glued to his face the entire series. he looked handsome with his tied up hair , wearing his suits and riding his bike. then saw his other series like 'love generation', little bit of 'beautiful life'...but since i'm out of school, haven't seen anything else. i followed the news about him suffering over wong kar wai's directorial torture.

can't wait to see '2046' to see how it turns out. i'm a bit iffy about films that have too many stars in them and inaedquate time for each of them.

I'm MAD about him! He was so good in Pride. Mesmerizing when he clutches his jersey before the match. I think he's prob one of the few artistes who enjoy continual (and even rising) popularity regardless of his marital and child status.

I don't think he's overrated, in the sense that he does have the acting thing in him. I saw this snippet of him filming 2046 and talking about the show after that and I think he looks/speaks as if he's in a drama. ie. he's either very very natural (in acting) or he's acting all the time :laughing: But its wonderful watching him act because besides his good acting skills, he's got this electrifying way of looking at people.

Can't wait to watch 2046! Does he appear alot? Coz i know Wong Kar Wai changed some parts of the movie to feature him more.

Even for a guy for me, is pretty obssessed over his charisma and fun-loving personality. Good-looking, lovely smile, his pair of "talking" eyes and charismatic. Gosh, I sound like a young girl now. *lol* :D
He took my attention when he featured in the best ever Jap drama "Beautiful Life". I urge everyone to see this great drama. Oh yeah, get ready the tissue box too. Following up, I also seen many of his dramas, such as "Pride", "Good Luck", "Love Generation", etc. He's damn good in acting and his dramas are ever good to see. :thumbsup:

I used to be a big SMAP fan and I've always loved Kimu Taku (but he wasn't my favourite smap member at the time...don't ask me why..hehe :rolleyes: )..and I've also watched most of his dramas..except 'Pride' (sorry, I saw half an episode and thought it was a bit boring.. :sweat: )..but I love SMAP X SMAP...it is soooooo funny !! It's amazing how an ever-cool guy like him would do really really stupid things on the show :-)

I have to point out how nice Takuya's body is. It's not so hard chiseled but he has this adorable V shaped torso. So sexy. And those lips. :love: And I have to agree about the way he dresses. He carries his clothes well.

I have seen several of his serials, and I really like that brooding look he had in "Beautiful Life".... I had also seen "2046" and boy, did he look :drool:

If not for the fact I spent most of my time ogling at someone else *points at artiste in banner*, I would be spending my time drooling at him too.....

I think he is a pretty versatile actor, everything he acted in, he looked so convincing, when he acted as the hairdresser in "Beautiful Life" I really believed that he had some experience in hairdressing....

Yeh, I have a big collection of the older episodes of Smap x Smap on VCD (might post some funny parts here when I have time :happy: )...but I haven't been following for some years :rolleyes: Are you in HK ? Cos if you are you can get the latest episodes in Sino Centre :happy: And no, I can only understand a bit of Japanese.. :rolleyes:

Out of all his dramas, 'Long Vacation' is probably my favourite. The story's good, the soundtrack's good and the drama's full of good-looking people !! :-)

Everyone was overly crazy about him in [Long Vacation]. I think he must've charmed many girls then. He's probably like the Bae Yong Jun of today.

But frankly ... I never really liked him till recently, when he now sports short hair. I think the drama that totally charmed me off my feet is [Good Luck], where he's acting as the pilot. I think it's his personality in the drama that got to me.

It's not his usual cool self but rather more cheeky and more open with his feelings. And candy, don't underestimate [Pride], it really is a GOOD DRAMA. Trust me on that, I believe the rest can tell you the same.

I cried at some point in time in that drama too.

Hmmmmm, if I must ever pick my most favourite KimuTaku dorama, it has to be [Good Luck]. I think he looks way cool over there!!! Just enjoy it when he plays cheeky and outspoken characters. Don't like it when he acts cool.

I like his hairstyle in Pride, as compared to his wavy hair in Love Generation.

Pride is really a good watch. Although i thought it was pretty draggy in the middle when they had to address the various problems of each hockey player. My heart broke when he met Aki on the bridge and had the 2 keys to his house in his pocket tied with the pink ribbon, but she ran to her fiance. :cry:

I liked Pride and Good Luck, though his character in Pride had that maturity Good Luck didn't, so it appealed to me more. though notice the that he's starting to be paired up with older women (ie. aki in Pride didn't seem that young). A trend perhaps?

okie..I've extracted a small part of SMAPxSMAP (this was back in 98/99). The show has a lot of short comedy acts and this one is called "Leonardo Takpurio" (pretty sure you all know who he's portraying)...basically he's always trying to act "kakoii" (cool) under any circumstances...it's chinese subtitled but if anyone doesn't understand I can do a brief translation later...

Anyhow, smap has some pretty nice songs. Although Masahiro Nakai (is that his name? the leader of smap) has one of the croakiest voices for a singer, and he kinda "ruins" the some song's dreamy feel when he sings. :glug:

One really nice song is " 雪が降ってきた” the slow version which is in their latest greatest hits album (the one with their name opposite side up on the cover). Its much better than their original fast version.

Takuya's has some solo songs like "shiosai" in Smap014 and "Forever forever" in Smap015 which i think are wonderful. Forever forever has that laidback, jamaican feel to it!

One million stars has got to be the worst Takuya drama (well i've heard that Sleeping Forest is as bad). Coz the plot's so convoluted in One million stars and all takuya does is look surly. I heard he got the worst viewership for that show. and as much as i loved watching him, i didn't finish that show coz it was really way to slow and boring. :laughing:

When I actually first saw him, I thought he was just another overrated celebrity. I was wondering, what is so great about him? Why do people like him so much?

But when you watch him in more shows and dramas, I think you just can't help but like him. I don't know...there's just something about him that made me become a huge fan. ^_^ Haha...I loved the Sleeping Forest drama though....very interesting. And of course, I loved him in Love Generation too!

Okay, I'm currently watching Love Generation and I can't help to be drawn into love cheesiness...I'm gushing like a schoolgirl. I'm still on the 6th disc so about 4 more disc to go. The story's so simple. And Takuya is more lovable on this one. I loved it when he cut his hair, he looked so adorable. :love:

I told my friend (who i was watching with) that one of the main reasons i'm watching this show is because of him, and i thought she knew who he was. then halfway through the movie when Takuya comes out as Faye's Japanese boyfriend, she turns to me and says, "Hey, that guy's pretty good looking too!" and i was like, obviously, he'sthe one i'm watching it for - Takuya. So far only caught "Long Vacation", "Love Generation", "Beautiful Life" and "HERO"... well basically all those they broadcasted on singapore local channels.
Loved "Long Vacation" the most. Even though Kimutaku & Matsu Takako are touted as the Golden Couple since each time they paired up the ratings shoot up like mad, i still like Kimutaku with Yamaguchi Tomoko.

Anyway there was this really stupid article about him being only 167cm while his stats showed him as 176cm because he made himself taller by wearing elevator shoes.

Saw him in 2046 and I find him quite adorable. Its a shame he didn't get more airtime or at least a supporting actor, he just had a bit part. But the times where he was interacting with Faye Wong on the train were my favorite parts of the movie.

2046 is funny in the aspect that they have all these big actors and actresses but in the end, they are only around for 10 minutes. Even less for Chen Chang and Thongchai McIntyre (who were probably around for 2 seconds)

Cacky, that girl in Good Luck reminds me of Kelly Chen. Once she came on screen, I was trying to figure out if she is Kelly Chen. yeah, I know. I should have weighed the chances of Kelly Chen appearing in a Jap drama but their physical appearance was so uncanny that I couldn't help but think that maybe a miracle just happened. Oh and the dumbest part was that even though I had the vcd box with me, I just refused to look at the name on the box and try to figure out on my own if that girl is indeed Kelly Chen.

how did i miss this thread! before i became a jayfanatic , i was a total kimura takuya fan! my first dorama is long vacation. it was love at first sight - that pianist scene at the concert competition - wow. from then on i bought all his dramas - from the earliest up to the last one- a million stars . then i watched good luck on tv - finds it too kawaii. pride i watched a few episodes , bored with it. maybe 'cos these two dramas cooled my kimura passion . ha. ha. up till now , long vacation is still my fav j-drama of all times by any actors. i also like sleeping forest and hero. i watched some episodes of comedy by kimura. one of them is really funny - he acted as a robber holding up a bank full of ppl . that was so hilarious when he has to talk to the negotiaors on the phone and unable to understand the foreign language and used the bank manager as the interpreter.ha.ha. i once ahd a magazine which featured him in delicious pose and clothes and also he did some cross dressing pics.

Kimura Takuya is a car racer in the show. So far, the show's focus isn't on the racing tracks. The only time when you see Takuya in a racing car is in the first few minutes of the show.

Dana, Long Vacation is one of my most favourite Japanese show :D .. Takuya is a pianist in training who can’t seems to get over his barrier of putting his feelings into his playing. He is so mesmerizing when he played the piano.. *stare dreamily in the air* :drool:

This was one of Takuya's earlier drama . The story line is quite good and sad except that it is quite slow moving. Here he portray a person who has a very cold heart and a photographic mind .Making love to him would have been making love to a mountain of ice .Very very unexpected sad ending.

Well, I managed to watch through the whole of [Long Vacation] but thought nothing much of it. I don't know what everybody was raving about. Perhaps watching it now ... after so many years, the feeling's just lost?

dana I have watched One Billion Stars (Fall down from the sky), it really is indeed a dark dorama. Takuya plays a chef, so you'll see him in chef clothes and tight black pants when he's "normally" clothed. The acting is fabulous. ^^ You'll get to see the wicked side of him, somehow.

Pride still is the cutest Takuya for me. Hockey wear, date clothes, winking, that famous smile.

Hehe, OK so I was browsing around clubboxes and I come upon this jap series called Beautiful Life and I remember that Shay once told me that Takuya Kimura looked a hell of a lot like my Binny and I thought "why not?" so I downloaded the series (so short, only 11 eps!) and am up to the 3rd episode and already I love him. He's got such a cute little pout and those eye are just bootiful! Urgh, and I was browsing around for Beautiful Life the other day and accidentally found out what happened at the end *stabs stupid spoiler-man* but it's too addicting to stop watching. He always seems to have little baggies under his eyes and that sort of adds to his natural "angry" look but what the hell he's gorgeous :love:

I wonder any of those girls in that drama are his children. There's this one drama is my inspirational drama, made me wanna play the piano, title of the show is Long Vacation, good drama!

ftlouiea- i strongly recomend " a million falling stars " - the story is very interesting and kimura really did a good job . i think the story is even darker and sadder than " sleeping forest " - also a fav of mine after long vacation .
i have stopped watching kimura's dramas since " pride " - cannot get into the groove of jap drama at the moment but i was in the past a kimura die-hard fan !

Cacky - Yeah, he has two daughters. If I'm not wrong, their names are Kokomi Kimura and Mitsuki Kimura :happy: When they had the eldest daughter, Shizuka Kudo (wife) and him weren't married yet.

And yes, I love the drama Engine too. It's funny to see how he handles the kids in his way. His hair in the drama was quite alike as the one in Beautiful Life, his older drama which is also another highly recommended one.

Seriously, I had never used the term "hot" for any guy before, until I watched Pride. I didn't know Takuya Kimura then, and I only watched it because I thought the drama looked good. And thank God I watched it, otherwise I wouldn't have known him at all. At the beginning of the show, I was like, "Oh, this is the Takuya Kimura." In the middle of the show, I was like, "Hey, he's actually a good actor. And he's pretty cool too." By the end of it, I was a fan. :-) Pride was the drama that actually started me on Jdoramas.

I've since watched Good Luck!!, 2046, Beautiful Life and Engine. His dramas are actually good, not only because of he is in it. Also in the middle of watching Long Vacation. I'm surely gonna dig out his dramas. I haven't watched Hero yet, so I'm not gonna watch Hero Returns until I watch Hero. I think he looks way better with short hair though. The hair in Pride was perfect in my opinion. And he looked so boyish in Good Luck!!. :D

after the disappointment of " pride " n " engine " , i m once again marvelled by the good luck of takuya in landing a good script like " change ' . this jdrama is really interesting - i learn abt the meaning of " king-maker " and realise that the " public face " of the ruling party cannot make meaningful changes if the majority of the party members refuse to change. luckily in a democrasy , voters can change ruling parties - even though often it's choice between two evils! i really recomemd this as a change from the usual sappy dramas .
