i live in a city called irvine..
it's listed as one of the safest cities out of the "over 10000 residents" city i think

i think LA, in terms of more taiwan-iness, is better than bay area. the food's a LOT better and a LOT cheaper than bay area.

ahh, LA= taiwanesss. you will find TONS of taiwanese and food and bah  wish i lived there
bay area is good too. many cantonese and mainlanders tho. i would go for socal =)

yea!! go socal!!! (btw socal means southern california for those of you who don't know)
the city i mentioned, irvine, is an hour away from los angeles. DO NOT MOVE INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. during the summer it's like 90 degrees there when it's only 75 degrees here. so come to irvine!!! DO NOT GO TO LOS ANGELES. it takes about 50 minutes to drive 3 miles. so don't go to los angeles or central california. come to irvine, and..... :brows:
i'm too horny today :worry:

yeah.. LA (san gabriel valley to be exact) is where most of the chinese ppl are. but really, so cal is such a driving city. i suppose if you want walking, westwood is good.. only cuz UCLA is there and where there's students, there's walking. my personal fav is monterey bay cuz it's gorgeous there but it's very different from taiwan i think.

Just stay near places like Diamond Bar, Monterey Park, San Gab and Rowland heights if you can...but they can be quite far from downtown LA tho...

Definitely LA. More places to go to.
A bunch of Asians here. Asian invasion. LOL. ;D
Much better than the east. It's cheaper, it's more chaotic and fun. You should like it!

yes, i totally agree with babyxv. it's SO boring. friday afternoon/night conversations:
me: what do you want to do.
them: i don't know. there's nowhere to go
me: okay let's think.
five minutes pause
them: there's nowhere to go.
me: okay let's just go home them.
you can either 1) go to the mall, 2) go to some boba place, 3) go eat, or 4) go watch the movie
and no offense, but valley fair (a mall in SJ) gets really boring sometimes. there seriously is no variety. thank gosherz for the internet.

in southern cali of of course! we have great weather, at least 4 major theme parks and water parks. knotts, cali adven, disney, universal etc. we got the mountains, the beach, and the snow, and the desert, plus 4 hour driving to las vegas :-)
where in south cali is up to you, some areas are safe, and some not so safe

I would say San Francisco if you want asians in general, hehe, but I admit there are few Taiwanese people...or at least i don't know any...But if transportation is a big thing for you I' say SF has a more reliable transit system (the Muni)...we have little metro subway-like thingies that take you down town to the quiet residential areas, we have little antique tram thingies :) and we have regular bus systems that are for the most part on time...at least the more major bus routes are relatively frequent. Still, buses are time-consuming, but at least you can go places without waiting yourself to death, especially if you're in a questionable neighborhood ^_^'

Fobland = Monterey Park/Alhambra
Sorry for the term, but if you go to my HS, all you have to say is fobland and they know what you're talking about.
If I talk to you enough and I get to know you better, I'll be the volunteer tour guide. :D

I live in arcadia... I dont' like it very much. I prefer to be home schooled. HAHAHA not that I've ever been home schooled or ever will be home schooled. I would live in san marino if you got the cash. LOL if not, live in the rancho area of arcadia... it's nice there... I live in the more asian area of arcadia with big houses and little land. HAHAHA you know how asians are, they must make everything look nice and big when they really aren't. AHHAHhahHAh

i was looking at the statistics and like places like arcadia and alhambra are populated with like.. 45% asians. thats SOOOOO many, hahaha. if you're in arcadia, go to life plaza!! its the BEST.
man, i miss cali ):

Go to San Fransisco, the people are really nice there (at least the ones that I have met) and the city itself is beautiful, or LA there are a lot of Taiwanese people there, and stuff is cheap there, Don't come to San Jose, it's really boring and everything is expensive as heck especially housing, but I wouldn't come to California period, seeing as our govener is the "terminator", my bad, I mean the "Govenator"

so arnold's really that bad of a governer? haha that sucks, i seriously thought people liked him

^ on the flip side, no one i knew was happy that he got elected. i myself was very bitter and skeptical as well. i think a lot of the voters just wanted to brag about the fact that a movie star was their governor- oh no, scratch that- governator. ok this whole blurb is very mean; sorry :X
it's so funny. i didn't realize that i've already replied to this thread. and i saw my post from almost a year ago and i totally agreed with myself. haha
anyway, the fact that some of these places are predominantly asian may seem appealing, but after awhile you'll realize that having less peoples different from yourself is BORING.

the only time i've been to irvine is to the UC Irvine campus. its sooo pretty there, and its really close to the beach too (= i'm thinking about applying there for college. any UCIers that recommend coming to their school?
and i heard that asian guy from "pimp my ride" goes to UCI. very interesting :P

i would say bay area. there's more jobs here, and it's more convienant if you live in one of the big cities. (san francisco, san jose, etc.) although the gas prices are high here, it's not as high as other places >.> the houses are quite pricey though.

08-08-2006, 07:17 PM
^i heard that it's really hard to find housing in san fran right now. i think SF would be a nice place to live, but sorta inconvient. housing is ridiculously pricey for something that doesnt give you much space and it's all around a bit more expensive. but the shopping is great :D haha

lol, well, you can either rent a house, or buy one. sf is so crowded... ~_~ and well, there's a lot of grocery stores, etc. nearby, so it's convienant i guess. o.o the house prices have dropped, but it's still pricey..

so arnold's really that bad of a governer? haha that sucks, i seriously thought people liked him
I don't think he's that bad, I personally think he's doing a better job than Gray Davis. However, some people are bitter that he's cut the school's budget and stuff, and yeah that really sucks. However, on the other hand, he's decreased the state deficit a lot better than Bush has down for America.
I don't know, maybe I'm just biased because I like his accent hahahahhahah

lol, you like his accent? haha, i hate it XD well, arnold is against illegal immigration and well, he was an illegal immigrant himself  because of him, my school's is even more poor than it already is. but well, arnold has made good decisions, and bad ones too =)

a place in CA where you don't need wheels. san francisco! haha! that's the only place i think of. san diego is a nice area too. that's where i live, but like... it kinda sucks cuz you need a car to get everywhere! ><" LA... there's lots of asians so i guess you can feel at home there. irvine is pretty safe place, which is nice.

The thing about America is, where ever you have to go, you need wheels. Taxi's are expensive and trains, they dont get you where you want like in Taipei. I advise to live somewhere in Southern Cali.
I personally love Taipei, and if there was anything like it, I would move there, but there is no place like that...
If your looking for a place with alot of asians, Dimond park is good, Hacienda Heights, Arcadia, and others are all good.
Where I live in riverside, there is a growing population of asians, but its quite convenient. Everything you need is all in the area.
UCR is also here if you plan to go there.
so arnold's really that bad of a governer? haha that sucks, i seriously thought people liked him
Even though he isnt liked, he is a good govenor, he put out some good bills, but alot of them were to give his position WAY too much power.

Even though i live in SoCal (southern california) and i love the heated weather, i suggest greatly the bay area. as in San Fran. its just hella nice over there, perfect to me. in the summer u can wear long sleeves or short sleeves, style doesnt matter, its close to water, always cool, and what i especially love about it is the hyphy movement (its just a new generation of music, like crunk, but better)
xanimeotakux
10-10-2006, 02:58 AM
heck yes! people in the bay area go 'dumb and hyphy' XD
i personally like weather close to sf, but not actually sf. every single night, there's this fog,(i forgot the name) that covers the whole city. and it becomes super cold and windy ~_~
but cities about 30-1 hour away have better weather. not too hot, not too cold =)
but sf is probably one of the few cities that rarely requires wheels for transportation. unless you're working of course, then you can take the bus.
there's tons of asians there, and it's a good starting place for new immigrants ^^
