My Music History teacher criticized Jay in front of ME!

My piano history teacher, I won't way her name, saw my keychain with Jay's picture on it and said all these stuff about Jay. I almost punched her, but I don't want to fail in her class. But when I got home, I thought of some things to say if that ever happends again. Just read it. It might be useful:

:D It's fun to read your replies. My chinese teacher used to say that she didn't understand what Jay sings but i think it's due to the age gap and personal choice.

Some ppl around me used to comment jay like you posted; yes i was very angry but it's useless to fight back anyway coz if they don't like Jay's music, it's very difficult for them to understand why we are crazy for him.

One of my colleagues just asked me if i understand what he sings (i'm thai and i know a bit of Mandarin) and i said i dunno but what's wrong with me coz i listen to his music; it doesn't matter if i understand his words or not. I asked him back that then why Mozart or Bach are so popular with his music? do you know what they sing? and i don't know if he understood my point or not. :wink2: but that's the best i could do with him.

heh. this is not the first time i hear ppl criticise Jay...i just see those dumbos as having no taste at all! i've heard so many ppl complain that they dont know whats jay singing and that all his songs sound the same...well, i think they don't make a point to go listen, and read the beautiful lyrics! if jay's songs all sound the same, i don't know what to say for other singers'...jay's songs are so DISTINCT...just think, how many of us can listen to 2 secs of any jay's song opening and know what song it is? most of us would know almost immediately! ok, if they say they don't understand chinese rap, i would argue that jay's songs are so full sounds, melodies and instruments! isn't music supposed to surpass any language barrier? when my dad first heard jay's fantasy album, he said "sounds weird, dunno what he's singing about"...(lucky he didnt say it was horrible..or else..) at first i thought perhaps jay's music is too "xin1 xin1 ren2 lei4" for the older ppl to understand....but then i heard my idiot little sis say jay is gross.... everytime i try to control myself not to kill her! ......................ok, sounding very biased here.....i guess everyone has their own music tastes....i don't need the whole world to love jay anyway....all the more not for these ppl who dunno how to appreciate him! hahah.

i think many people wonder why he is so 'hot'... His type of music/or those similar to his are all flooding the market... There is really nothing much... I was one of those people until my friend dragged me to his concert... I was totally overwhelmed and started to really listen to his album... then i attained "enlightenment"... Oooo... My mum seems to dislike Jay a lot. And she criticises him in front of me too! She says that he's fake and proud. My dad, though he's quite okay with Jay, (he even offerred to buy me tickets to Jay's concert), has this mindset that only singers of his generation are the best and that singers nowadays resort to gimmicks and over heavy production! That makes me soooo mad.

MAny people who don't take Jay seriously or think he is a mumbling bozo who has no substance, always criticise him. I'm used to it and I don't take them very seriously either. Jay has plenty of fans and I'm one of the fans. Who cares what the rest of them think? People just have different opinions all the time.
