Well it had been a very long time i din go to cinema ~ coz of busy on workin and studys
luckily now on holiday and have plenty of time to lepak around
so went to a movie last saturday.
there's many foreign movie now , anacondas , A vs P , Six strong guys , a korean ghost story that i forgotten the title etc
but as a Malaysian ~ i choose to watch Puteri Gunung Ledang
i dont even expect to watch a really GOOD quality local produced movie , but ...... i found out that ~ i'm wrong ~ absolutely wrong
the every scene that appeared infront of my sight ...... really suprised me ~ this is the 2nd time i never sleep in the cinema (1st time, Troy).
The story , the movement , the way the actorNactress talk ~ were acttractin me all night long. It's really worth to watch it again , and again
U guys who never go for it ~ go for it :)

I would really want to watch "Visits", i heard it's scary.Too bad it's only shown in GSC Midvalley..it's really inconvenient for me to go to Midvalley. From the movie reviews i've seen in The Star paper, "Visits" is being graded "B" .That's pretty good for a local movie.
Have anyone watched Pontianak Sundal Harum Malam?I dont know whether it's a great movie but the film bagged 3 awards in Spain.

For that, watch SEPET. It's a movie which they talk malay-chinese-english and have english subtitles and Ng Choo Seong is absolutely cool and Sharifah Amani is so adorable!

Puteri Gunung Ledang won 4 awards in Festival Filem malaysia (M'sia type of oscar) and Sepet won six. (ironic cuz the low budget indie movie defeated the giant 20 million budget one). But both win big considering PGL was shown as one of the favouriteat Cannes and Sepet won lots of award outside Malaysia.

Baik punya CilOk!!!!

Have you watched? I highly recommend to you this film by the talented Afdlin Shauki. This Singapore-educated director is somehow has his own way to teach lessons to the viewers. I like it very much. Besides, how many times can you see serious actors like Awie acts as a comedian? Believe me, he can make you laugh!

wanie_jay
01-30-2006, 07:15 PM

sepet was much better than gubra i have to say.

Ggubra is a rather complicated movie and you need to sit and think properly to understand the movie.

Watch It!!!!

Does anyone know where I can buy Malay movies online? I'm in the U.S., so that's probably my only option.

heeh~ duno... mayb u can try www.wanita.net ?

i dun really remember the name, but there's a new movie with amber chia in it. there's another actor, the korean "shemale" guy, nonono~ gal. she's in it too.

Well, I'm a little biased. I'd rather watch Malay movies than Malaysian-made Chinese movies. Simply because I can still access Chinese (Hong Kong and Taiwanese, which are generally higher quality) movies, but not Malay movies. I feel like I'm forgetting my Malay, but my Chinese is still fine. Movies with a multiracial cast would be interesting too.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out!

if ur lookin for malay movies, mayb u can try... Gunung Ledang? hahaha!~ anyway, for really nice movie, Sepet is the one. well, i think there's a sequel to it, like as told in previous posts, but i haven watch, so no comment. XD oh, there's a new Sembilu 2 izit? or wad... cant remember the name, a funny malay movie. i think it should be nice.

Puteri Gunung Ledang and Sepet? Those are actually the two movies that I really want to watch. The Malaysian Student Organization at my university showed those two movies a few months ago. Unfortunately, I had to go out of town during those times. So I'd been wanting to watch those movies for a while.

Donny
06-23-2006, 07:36 PM
y not try to find source from them? like a legal copy or sth? gunung ledang... not exactly that bombastic and astounding la... but not bad... the story iznt our good old primary school history though.

06-23-2006, 07:41 PM

Donny
06-23-2006, 07:49 PM

06-24-2006, 01:37 AM
I'll just buy them from that website. I found them there. But maybe later, because I'm broke now. The VCDs are not that expensive. They're only less than US$6, which is a pretty reasonable price. I buy Chinese VCDs from YesAsia for about the same price. Shipping isn't too expensive either. I think I'll shop on that website after I get a job!

sorry i cant understand BM well.
what does cilok mean? i've never heard of it.

cilok basically means trying to escape=melarikan diri, it also means steal...the movie is basically about three guys including afdlin, hans issac, and ac mizal wanting to get back what they had pawned....

something like that la..
