I just came back from china (yes, jay frenzy all around; got the album fresh from the shelf XD)...and ive realized how many things of jay i want to get; like..a magazine, metersbonwe stuff (i feel so stupid; i could only just gape at the store; i was too embarassed to ask my relatives to stop so i could just freak out in that store :shy:), more cds....but i think i'm probably going to go back to china in 2008 (olympics baby :-) )...but im freaked out that jay'll stop singing or something; u kno how singers usually sing for several years, and then they 'retire'...and jay's been hot for a few years already...four more years...will he still be making albums in 2008? i think there was this article on jay wishing he would sing in the olympics..but is that definitely going to happen? aahh i dont want jay to stop singing!!!! what do you guys think?

Well, Jay has said that he will stop singing once he feels that his fans no longer appreciate his music.. I don't think that day will ever come! Or at least not anytime in the near future. There are artists out there that have had (and still having) a very long and respectable career i.e. Andy Lau, Sammi Cheng, etc. I think Jay is one of those rare artists that will follow in their footsteps! :-)

sweatea, you should have braven yourself to go ask for Jay stuff. It's a rare chance to be able to get Jay stuff like Meters/Bonwe or One2Free in Malaysia, so if i ever visit China/Taiwan/Hong Kong, I'll definitely gather courage to go get Jay stuff. I'm a shy person you know.

Back to the topic: I think Jay is going to sing forever. no one is going to stop him. He can be 72 and still sing to himself.
Okay, if you mean, singing as in being a singer, then i'd say probably until when he decides to retire. You see people like Andy Lau and others still singing right? So I bet Jay would do the same until he decides to retire

Hmmmm. I think Jay's gonna sing for as long as he can. Not just in terms of age, but also in terms of how long more he can stay as the number 1 idol in so many hearts. Yea. I hope Jay will be able to last in the music industry till he's 50+ or something, just like Alan Tam. Yeaa. A music icon all the way. It's quite "scary" to think that Jay has been around for only 5 years. I'm afraid that his popularity will only last for the most, 10 years or so. And his ability to make music will just defunction after years. Very scary. Yuppp. But anyway. I'm sure that Jay will try his very best to continue making good music for as long as he wants to.

I don't want that day will come.I love his song and everytime I listen his song I feel.. I cannot find the other artist that sing a song like him. I use to read that Jay talking about his voice and he said he doesn't think his voice is good but I want to tell him that I really love his voice.

anyway, I think he still keep going his work untill he doesn't have his fan anymore or it's something happen which make him cannot sing anymore. But I'm pretty sure that he still write the song for the other artist forever

30? 40? Not able to give an appropiate answer though. We have to wait and see what the future holds for Jay. In my opinion, I will say that he will keep singing until he had enough of the music industry. Now, I just want him to continue composing melodies that we enjoyed so much.

i think he's going to sing FOREVER. i mean he has got so much passion in music n it's already been 5yrs he's been singing... for us. n jay is still as refreshing as a newbie. i believe so long as there is demand there is supply. since all of us here will want him to sing forever for us. he will. hehe. n i believe that he's definitely capable of doing it. maybe no longer an album a year (that's pretty tiring), but still i dun think the status n fame he has earned today will be forgotten too soon. its a matter of how long will we continue buying his albums n how many of us will. i definitely will buy every single one of his albums. hehe jay forever!!!

i think he'll be willing to continue singing for his fans until there's no one left to appreciate wat he's doin, which will never goin to happen.....as long as we keep supporting and encouraging him....he'll definitely wont let us all down....

I think Jay will keep singing for at least five years, but it also depends on whether his music is still appreciated (if it was up to me, I say keep on singing!) His style might change over the years and maybe some fans won't like it anymore (or some non-fans will become fans!). Maybe he'll find a steady girlfriend, marry, have kids, and decides not to be a number one star anymore. Anyhow, I think that even when he stops singing and performing, he will still work behind the scenes and compose for other artist, his 'pupils' :D

I'm sure Jay will always love making music and singing, but perhaps one day he'll want a "normal" life with his own family and children, friends, not be surrounded by the media all the time. And that day we'll still be supporting him right?

and I don't want to think about Jay getting ooold -_-;; A 40 year old Jay is inimaginable!!!

Ah...I hope to see Jay is singing in his concert with his walking stick. Haha...Just think he had a grey hair and older is dancing in Kang-Fu style. Ahhh...So cute :D

Jay'll probably sing for a couple more years from now, hopefully he'll still stay as popular, or popular anough for him to feel like his music is appreciated and so that the album sales are going ok.
So I reckon he'll probably keep singing to at least 30[hopefully much longer than that..], except he might have a rest in between in these 5 years.

But after he hits 30, he might've have already fallen in love and would soon want to start up his own family, so he might drop out of being a singer, and retire into being one of the behind the scene people, being a composer and producer for other artists.
Plus, I remember him saying before that he doesn't like singing that much[since he reckons he ain't that good], but being a singer, as well as songwriter, is a way for him to let everyone hear his music.

like..a magazine, metersbonwe stuff (i feel so stupid; i could only just gape at the store; i was too embarassed to ask my relatives to stop so i could just freak out in that store ), more cds....
You should've just pretended you liked the clothes in the shop, and told your relatives that you wanted to have a look around inside! [then have a full gawking session at all the Jay pics and Jay plastic bags around..!]

hmm..I wanted to ask my relatives in HK to get me all the magazines Jay has been on, but then they don't really know about my obsession with Jay[so they'd be like wth you want that for], and once they know, they'd start going on about how its a waste of money, blah blah blah blah blah.. And then even if they do buy them for me, I'd only get them at the end of the year when I go over to HK[if they haven't misplaced the magz by then].
So I figured that I can't be stuffed asking them. But I still want those magz[its probably too late now tho, and I'm starting to regret not asking them to get them for me..]
[Edit: Ok...that just had nothing to do with the topic....but I suddenly felt like rambling about that..] [.....bahhhhhhhh..I want those magazines :depresse: ..]

I think Jay will keep singing for as long as he can... even if he can't sing, he might jus stay as a composer or smthing... so long as he can still get in touch with his favourite music, watever post he is i believe he won't mind... Music is his life! haha...

haha i think he'll sing until 30!!cause he's got to married, unless he marries another celebrity ahah!thats a different story cause they can form a band now plus kids in the future (all the little jay chous)!! ahaha!

I was thinking to about 30 too, but it is a nice thought if somewhere in his musical career he pushes his singing limit to a new level, making his music original and fresh. Hopefully he can be like Andy Lau in a way, with regards to constant popularity and quality of music.

I believe music is a part of his life. Even though he doesn't sing he would be in this business for sure. Anyway , i think he could be around for quite a big while. Just like Wu Bai .... more than 10 years like that.

11-05-2004, 06:59 AM
Yeah I agree with linfaye. When Jay stops singing, he will still stay in this industry. That's his passion and life. I think he will be behind the scenes, acting as a producer and composer. He may even venture into directing and managing other artistes. But naturally I hope that he will remain as a performing artistes for as long as possible. But I hope that when his popularity stays to wane(which I hope it will be another 20 years from now!), he will go behind the scenes. It's better to go out with a bang then to sink into obsurity.

considering his huge fanbase...it oughta be a while...yay!!...besides...if he stops recording his own music i think he would probably consider writing for other artists at least...but i'd much rather have him deliver it!

i think that jay will keep singing as long as he feels that there is something that he has that he can give to us to enjoy and cherish. it is basically his entire life. he has dedicated it all to making music. you know how madonna has been around for so long? how she keeps changine her style, and making it fresh? well i think that jay will be like that. jay always seems to come up with something really creative for each album and i think that if he continues to do it, he will continue his music career.

11-06-2004, 04:43 PM
i think jay won't retire until 40+ or by the time he can't catch up with the trend or maybe when he'd settled down and is thinking of having a complete family with kids.. whichever is his decision, i'll still respect it as long as he still do some backstage work like composing songs for other singers or collaborating with vincent and come up with some lyrics writing company.. haha

mercurialvapor24
11-08-2004, 12:34 AM
well he's producing an album every year so imagine if he keeps singing till he's 40, thatd be soo many songs!! but i think that realistically, even if he doesnt sing, he'll be in the music industry somehow. i mean who knows if he ends up starting a family or something. but i gues the best thing to do is just take advantage of any concerts and stuff now

i really don't know...i rather not think bout the future... :-) :-)

thinking about that fateful day is a rather scary thought. I'm sooo into Jay's music right now even after all these years. Living in the US and in my short time of being exposed to music, i've seen a lot of hot American artists come and go (from boy bands and indie artists to Britney and others) , but Jay's managed to keep me excited about his music. His four albums have kept up in substance and quality and his inspirations are still original and heartwarming. So all in all, i think Jay's time is ultimately up to him, but at this rate- it's hard to imagine that he'll cease in creating beautiful music.

I think Jay is gonna sing forever, he may not be a singer for the rest of his life, but that doesn't mean he has to stop singing, plus Jay loves to sing and make music

SimpleBlackHumor89
11-21-2004, 02:38 AM
i think for as long as he possibly can, cos music is like to his life. and he grew up on it, and lived by it. he'll probably stop singin when he's in 50s or 60s?? haha, old jay, den mayb start producing for other new artists :-)

11-21-2004, 02:52 AM
Hehe, I have the same concerns but I think we don't have to be scared...he's going strong and his fans are only increasing and his loyal fans will stick to him like glue...he can't shake us off even if he wanted to. :-) I just hope he comes back to America soon...because I can't go to his concert his year...parents are so crazy. But I am probably going to China in 2006...hope I can catch a concert...somewhere.

And...um...question...what is metersbonwe??? :?

hm... i think jay's going to be singing for awhile but i dont think he can keep going with the same style.. i mean.. a lot of his songs sound similarr, very similar and.. iunno, i guess people will start to get real bored of it. BUT who knows??? haha jay ruless

Gosh, I hope he never stops, I wld have NOTHING else to look forward to during the summer....haha..even now, I'm already hankering for his new album to be released!!!

Sometimes I wonder whether jielun will get burnt out soon. I mean, he releases one album a yr AND actually write and produces the entire thing. So it's not like he just goes into the studio and sings for a few months...he has to do everything else too...

BUT, if he wants to take a break, I WILL WAIT FOR HIM, FOREVER WAIT FOR HIM! hahaha

I think jielun will last, he will go on to be like frank sinatra or ella fitzgerald...respected music icons. Cos I mean, the most impt thing you need to survive in an industry where the ave life-span is what, less than 5 yrs, is talent, and he has enough of that for at least 100 ppl, haha.

BUT, i'm not sure I wanna see him prancing around in those oversized jerseys when he's 40. That urban ghetto thing has NEVER done it for me, and it sure as hell won't when i get old..hehehe...

That white shirt and black suit trademark - will do him good for the future....

i just think that no singers can be popular or keep singing songs forever, but i hope that Jay can continue his starry road everafter.....
Do u guys think that one day JAY's inspiration of music will run out?

olin
11-28-2004, 04:29 PM
Admit the truth, nobody can sing forever.

But with Jay, i think he will sing as long as he could.
He's full of talent, and has an amazing voice. He's not just some artist who got famous because of the look.

Moreover, he starts acting.
So no worries guys, we will see him more often :brows:
