Can anyone remember their first song they ever heard from jay? Mine was Grandpa's Tea. I heard it off of my friends host website. I just got off from jay after that. I got 3 other friends into it too ^.^

Hmmm. For me, it's Ke Ai Nu Ren. I still remember I was watching the Singapore Hit Awards 2000 and Jay was performing as a newcomer. He was playing the piano and singing Ke Ai Nu Ren at the same time. My mom actually commented, "why this guy's cap so low one. cannot see his face. and why the song keep repeating ke ai nu ren." Lol. But I was attracted to the song at that time, not who the singer was. Lol.

The first song I ever heard by Jay was some random song that I didn't even know the name of (and to this point I still don't.. ^^;) on my friend's burned cd at camp. Unfortunately I didn't quite like it because it was too rappy, but a few weeks later, I heard Qing Tian on my friend's xanga.. and I fell in love with Jay. =D

The first Jay song I heard was "Zui Hou de Zhan Yi". One of my Taiwanese friend actually showed me the MV and "Behind the scenes of the mV" from 8th Dimensions and introduced Jay to me as someone who's very famous and very talented. I was like, "Really? More famous than F4?" -- Well, I was just in the beginning stage of starting to like Chinese music because of the F4 craze. The song didn't really impress me that much because Jay to me was just "so-so looking". Though I didn't find him goodlooking nor did the song really impressed me, at one point of time, the chorus kept replaying in my mind and part of me thought that 'hey, I really want to listen to that song again' (the magic of Jay's songs :love: )

It was after I bought an MP3 CD full of Chinese new songs, I heard his "Ban Shou Ren" and the song just kicked right to me, coz I LOVE Hip hop. ANd I kept repeating this song and give all my non-chinese friends a listen. I absolutely praised this song so much at the time. And this song is what made me bought 8D & Fantasy album altogether... coz at the time, I thought I've listened to 2 of his songs (Zui Hou de Zhan Yi and Ban Shou Ren) and both are great, so I want to hear more of this "Jay Chou" guy. So glad I've made the right decision.

Well, after I bought those 2 albums, the rest is history.

I used to not listen to Chinese songs at all. But then I tuned in to Golden Melody Awards 3?4? years back coz' they said there was a Singaporean (Sun Yanzi) who was nominated and I thought that was rare since it's a Taiwan Award show. I don't remember seeing Jay sing then, but my friend later remarked that she was disappointed that Jay didn't win Best Newcomer and that was when I took notice of his name.

While channel surfing one boring Saturday afternoon, the Chinese weekly MTV chart show was on and lo! and behold! it was Jay's Ba Wo Hui Lai Le. When I saw the MV and read the lyrics flashing across the screen, I felt that this was really different from the usual sappy Chinese love songs that I've heard. And I was impressed. Few days later, I heard the song again in Tower and I was pretty surprised that I actually remembered who sang it. So I borrowed Fantasy from my friend and yes indeed, the rest is history. :happy:

Mine was 5 years back when Jay just released his first album. And I remembered seeing him at The Hereen Shopping Center at Orchard Road. At that point of time, there were really really really very very little Jay Fans in Singapore, I think back then were only like 20 people were really supporting him when he was on stage. But it was when I was buying a pirated compilation mp3 cd that I realised Jay. the first song i heard was ke ai nu ren. on radio. i didn't know who jay was then, and i even thought the song was a little irritating coz the chorus part is all repetition.
then one day (some mths later), i was looking through my cousin's bookshelf, and i randomly took down a CD to listen. i immediately got hooked on to ke ai nu ren and long quan feng. and i played that CD like a zillion times that WHOLE day.

i never knew how the singer look like (until the 2nd album) and i'm sure that a lot of other fans also fell in love with his music in the same way. this just goes to show that jay is indeed a shi li pai! (means a celebrity with real talent and not purely idolised becoz of his/her looks)

it wasn't until his 3rd album then i realised that the 'irritating' song i first heard on radio was ke ai nu ren! haha.

The first Jay song I heard was Kai Bu Liao Kou a loooong time ago. It was playing on my friend's blog and I really liked it and wanted to hear more from the artist. Later he showed me the music video for Ke Ai Nu Ren and I completely fell in love with his music. The repetition doesn't bother me at all, I think it's perfect for the song and after so many albums, it's still my fave. I totally agree with jaxe here with a similar random story of my own. :-) My first Jay song was "Ai Zai Xi Xi Yuan Qian". I knew NOTHING about Jay (and barely anything about Chinese music) at the time; I usually just bought VCDs or DVDs whenever I went to those Chinese CD stores, but one day I just thought "Eh, I feel like buying a music CD", so I just randomly picked one off the shelf and it just happened to be Jay's FANTASY PLUS EP/VCD, so I bought that along with an Andy Hui movie (I think it was "Nightmares of Precinct 7").

After finishing the mediocre movie, I popped in Jay's VCD not expecting much. The first track was obviously "Ai Zai Xi Yuan Qian", and after that song I was IMMEDIATELY HOOKED. :excited: The next day I forced my friend to drive me back to the CD store and got Jay's first CD (since they sold out of the second one :oops: ). Nevertheless, it was because of that song that I immediately became the Jay fanatick that I am today. :D

i believe my first song that i heard from Jay Chou was "Return to the Past" or "An Jing-Silence" on Direct TV. The song was played on a chinese show called "Mandarin Music on Demand". I thought the love realationship between the scooter girl in high school was very cute. Jay was not very attractive in that video since I had no clue who he was then, and he sorta mumbled in the intro. However, later on, I watched a MV video "An Jing" and i thought the girl in their was so pretty, and the beats were an awsome combination. Yet, I still wasn't captured by they way Jay Chou mumbled in some parts of the song. From hence, I was interested into finding out who that guy is!
