I'd just like to tell everyone I saw X-men 2 last nite at the Sydney Premiere... Hugh Jackman was meant to come, but he was doing some broadway thingy...
But anyways, the movie was heaps good :-D lots of new stuff, and great action scenes...
Hardcore X-men fans would love it too ^.^
hehehe... let's hope for an X-3... cause the movie sure hints a lot for it...
but my friend said that Halle Berry might not continue with it... so who would replace her??

I am one of the hard core X-Men fans! Whoo hoo! The show hasn't opened yet in Singapore. But with SARS and all, my folks are very against me going to the cinema to watch it. :(
I don't know what to do about it man!
Anyway I really hope for X3 as well. Hmm... really interested to know about the love triangle between Jean, Cyclops and Wolverine.

kelly chen is in x2, too. go asians!!! she was really pretty n sexy in scorpion king, but i dont really know bout her acting skills tho...
Errrr, u mean Kelly Hu rite?
My fav is actually Gambit... dunno why he's not in the movie.
But in terms of hotness.. I'll have to say James Marsden who plays Cyclops!
Hugh Jackman is really attractive to me but I dun really like Wolverine (ducks from stones and sticks) even in the cartoon cos he's too bad tempered, rash and likes violence. Hoho!

oooh im looking forward to see matrix reloaded and matrix revolutions, they´re supposed to come in theathers this year. i love keanu in the long leatherjacket and shades! his sooo yummy LOL btw he is part chinese (yay! i think his dad is half chinese and half hawaiian) now how cool is that ? haha

Why ISN'T Gambit in the movie? He's such a COOL character.
I'm looking forward to Matrix Reloaded. That proves to be quite a promising sequel. Hope they don't make this another sequel screw up... Because if they did, that would really be a shame.

I thought the worst character was jubilee. My favorite character is Psylocke. Gambit was cool, but cyclops just reminds me of a dork since he wears those glasses all the time. I didn't really like rouge and storm's powers were ehhh to me. But Psylocke was always cool.
when are these movies premiering?
regina12
04-30-2003, 05:58 AM
Haha! I agree that Jubilee is the worst character. And if I didn't remember wrongly, Jubilee was the one who was extremely close to Wolverine. But in the movie, Rogue is the one close him.

It would totally suck to be rogue. imagine the lonliness!
chun li -- that was what i was thinking too... imagine never even touching someone's hand ...
and yes, why isn't Gambit in the movie?!? he was one of the pioneer mutants in the series! !@*!@*(#
i'm excited to see the younger mutants ie Pyro and Iceman. i've seen enough of Wolverine, actually, but Hugh is cool.
dammit...i wish i could go see it today

They've already had the premiere in London...and in the States, but it opens this Friday. Should be fun stuff.
Well..most of hte cast has signed on for the first 3 movies, so if this one does as well as the first, then the third should be in the works. Maybe Gambit will be in #3.
I'm not a hardcore fan...but I think it's cool that they got Alan Cumming to play Nightcrawler. He's so great! (And he actually doens't like to watch movies...but is in so many great ones!:D)

I just saw X-Men 2 last night and I love it!! The only downside is that I think I broke on of my tooth on a popcorn kernel and now am having a massive toothache. Oh and the fact that they cut out the only scene that had Gambit in it!!! Why!!
Anywhoo, I really liked it. It had lots of action, the opening and closing scene were wonderful and it had loads of hunky men action. Famke Janssen rose above her Bond girl tag to play Jean Grey wonderfully. Even without Gambit, there was Nightcrawler to occupy me. Of course, Lady Deathstrike also kicked some major Wolverine ass even though she had, like, one line? But I really liked the way Lady Deathstrike looked, great makeup and costume. I can never understand why they took out Gambit and replaced him with Iceman as Rogue's love interest though. And for those who were stunned by the cliffhanger ending:
Arise Phoenix!

ouch satanrina! hope you feel better. luckily i haven't had any accidents with pricey movie food. popcorn sure sounds good right now though! do you guys have dippin'dots at your movie theatres? yuuum

what are dippin' dots?
satanrina
05-02-2003, 06:05 AM
They are those sorbet flavoured drops of ice-cream. They come in multi-flavoured and multi-coloured and are soooo delicious. Unfortunately, they do have have them at the theatre munchies and are too difficult to sneak in too.
Anyway, it's just an old problem. I've been having toothache ever since I got my first wisdom tooth. I'm gonna extract it but the dentist wanted to wait till the swelling goes down. Then the kernel had to get lodged and futher agravate the tooth. Arrghs.

I have no idea where to eat Dippin Dots in Singapore now that the shop at Forum shopping is closed. I love to eat them... yum yum!
Haha! I finally caught X2 and phwoar!!!!! Awesome!
Satanrina> Yeah!! Arise Phoenix! I remembered in the cartoon one of the best parts was the Phoenix Saga. Can't wait for X men 3! Hope Bryan Singer doesn't make us wait another 3 years man!
I also wanna catch all the other part 2's and sequels, especially Charlie's Angels! Time to kick some ass. Hahah!

Regina:
You know your stuff. My friend who devours the comic books actually told me about the phoenix stuff because I was so befuddled by the ending. It's actually the most interesting portion of the entire X-men series. X-men 3 will be so awesome!! I hope Jugglenaut will be in it, he's my fave character in the books.
Btw, I think you can get Dippin Dots at Marina Square, they have one outlet tucked right outside Metro, you can't miss it.

I too have just returned from the movie and it was quite fun...and amusing.
Agreed...the opening sequence is very cool. Makes you wish you go do the same. (Too bad Alan Cumming didn't have fun filming it.:P) The ending was nice too, a preview of coming attractions obviously.:)
But here's the interesting bit....Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Halle Berry, and Ian McKellan AREN'T signed signed for the 3rd flick, yet. Those who are (from their initial contract) are Famke Janssen, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Alan Cumming, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Aaron Stanford. It'll be interesting how #3 comes about.
There was a quick Gambit reference...did ya'll catch it?:D
And what about The League of Extraordinary Gentleman...they're hoping it's the next big comic blockbuster series.

yeah, xmen 2 was pretty gewd thats 4 sure. cept i dunno about anyone else, but i absolutely HATED the ending...argh, they handed the special unknown documents to the president...and it just ended!! and that was it...perhaps that doesn't sound like a big deal, but to me it seemed like one of those 8-mile or fast and the furious endings where basically they're in a situation where you'd expect more to come and they just walk away and thats the end. but two big thumbs up on the action tho!!
n anyone else think that that anna paquin chick shouldn't be rogue?! in the comic and cartoon she has curly hair and a kik ass accent!! cept in the movie she's the opposite...

I caught X-Men 2 on Thurs evening (we might have been in the same theatre, satanrina) and i have to agree that it's awesome. although i did not watch the first episode and watched without knowing a single thing about X-men, the special effects were cool enough to keep me awake throughout the whole show (i usually sleep through action flicks that i'm forced to watch). Mistique's such a cool chick! i wonder how long the body paint took to put on?
regina12
05-03-2003, 04:25 PM
Wow wow wow! Things are heating up! Haha! So many things to answer and ask.
Gwen>Ok first the Gambit reference, was it the part where Mystique was checking the computer for Magneto's files and just above his name was Remy Lebeau aka Gambit? Heehee!
And how did u know about the contracts part? Usually it's too early to know about such issues right?
XiaoJie> I totally agree that Rogue is totally not Rogue in the movie. Very disappointed! Rogue is my Fav character alongside Gambit. Totally a turn off. Anna Paquin's ok, it's just she isn't spunky enough and doesn't display that sort of girl power like Rogue is.
Satanrina> Thanks for the tip. I don't frequent Marina Square very much cos actually I often get lost in there. One of the most confusing shopping centres of all time. Hahah! I wish I could devour the comics now. As a kid I only had the cartoons cos no cash to buy the comics and no sibs to depend on either. Hoho!

Quite a refreshing change to see Ian McKellen transform from wise guy wizard Gandalf to baddie mutant Magneto. :p
I had thought the movie wouldn't be as good, because I don't really enjoy XMen at all. But the trip to the cinema today proved me wrong. I loved the cerebro machine.... If only I could get my hands on that thing, I'd be ruler of the universe! Muahahahahahahah!
The trailer for Matrix Reloaded was too good to be true. Can't wait to catch it! :D

Serena:
I was at Cineleisure. I swear, they have the worst popcorn in town. Arrghs.
Gwen, Regina:
Wow, very observant. Truth be told, I will be very clueless if not for my friend informing me beforehand all that is going to happen. I don't think either my posse or the people sitting near us were happy with him for all that help though.
I see many ppl didn't like Rogue huh? I think that's because she's portrayed so differently from the comics. She's supposed to be older, and romancing Gambit. She's not the one supposed to have the brother-sister relationship with Wolverine either.
I think Paquin did a pretty good job though. The first movie didn't really flesh out her character that much, but she is supposed to be traumatised by her ability so I believe that's why she's not as spunky as in the comics. Also, she was raised by Mystique and only ran to Prof X for help after absorbing Ms Marvel's powers. She also happened to marry Magneto in the alternate universe. After being through all that, it's no wonder she lost her spunk. Hehe.
I, however, didn't like Halle Berry as Storm. Her wig is part of the reason. Sure, its better than the first one, but it still sucks. Her role was minimally touched on. It's as though she's there to put some star power in the cast and she acts as though she knows it. So it really doesn't come much as a surprise that she doesn't want to continue doing X-3.
Btw, Singer did say that he wouldn't do the series without Wolverine since that character is supposed to be the soul of the X-men. Which means Jackman has to sign on, he has to!!!!
Chun Li:
You have to see it. I demand that you do so. Come back and discuss with us when you have. And hurry!

Very good Regina12.:) You "found " Gambit.
For X-Men fans, I think you'll enjoy all the little nuances that are placed throughout the movie.
I get all my entertainment news from Entertainment Weekly (one of my favorite magazines). Studios and actors aren't shy from telling about their contracts. They usually try to sign the actors for multi-picture deals at the first movie since it'll be cheaper and easier (since they're bound by contract, they have to do it!). For Hugh Jackman, it was his first big Hollywood role so he got piddle compared to his more famous co-stars.
A lot of people are disappointed with Rogue...but if nitpick with her, then you have to nitpick with almost all the characters that did make the movie.
But about Storm...where the heck did her accent go?! It was there in the first movie! If you're going to give someone more lines, at least be consistent!
Go see it Chun Li! But don't be disappointed afterwards since you've heard rave reiveiws from people here. I know hearing other people's views can screw your own up.:P

WARNING: if u haven't seen x-men 2, stop reading NOW!
i watched x-men a few days ago!
some stoopid guy told me wolverine dies....so throughout the whole movie i was expecting him to die! i was so suprised when the other gurl died...
it was soo sad! i couldn't hold back the tears when cyclopse [spellcheck] and wolverine were crying on the jet! so sad! :(
cyclopse is so hot! :p
---------------------------
what exactly is rogue's power? :?
satanrina
05-04-2003, 05:57 PM
munchi:
Rogue's power is that by merely touching another being, she can suck the mojo out of them. Say, she touches a normal human being, she will absorb the life force. But if she touches a mutant, she can gain their power. Unfortunately, it is against the ethical code to use it unless for defense purpose.
Also, don't worry, Dr Jean did not die. She'll be back in the third installment. That'll be really kickass with the Pheonix saga. Also, Wolverine will not die, because the director will not continue the show without him. So his character is vital to the movie, tell your friend to bite dust.
regina12
05-05-2003, 06:14 AM
Ahhh! I really cannot wait for X3!!! But I really hope Cyclops will be back cos during the Phoenix Saga, he was there right? Gosh there'll be some difficult love between Jean/Phoenix and Scott right? I am already upset enough that Gambit is not included in the movie and Rogue is like not so Rogue and is romancing Iceman instead. If they exclude Cyclops too.. oh man...
I love Storm's powers actually right after Jean's powers. Would be really sad if Halle Berry doesn't want to continue playing storm.
And I really think Bryan Singer would not go without Hugh. And no Prof X and Magneto? No way! Ian Mckellen is really good. So super evil in Xmen and so super nice in Lord of the Rings! The Return of the King is the next highly anticipated movie for me.. it'll premiere right after my 21st bday! Whoo!!

I'm already anticipating the DVD for cut scenes. Those are always funny. Did you guys catch the 2 easter eggs on the first vrsion of the disc? I haven't watch 1.5 yet, but they might be on it...
So what new characters should they bring to the third installment? And who should play him/her?(I'm thinking Gambit will have a big vote...)

i watched x2 on friday......and the cinema showed the trailer of matrix reloaded before they started....wow.....it looks really good and the actions are like, so slick!......but wat is the story abt matrix actually? wat are they battling? i watched matrix 1 so long ago i can't really remember or maybe i din understand its story :? .....so wat's it abt? hahahhah...i'm kinda blur....... :p
anyway i think x2 is really cool :excited: ....i especially like nightcrawler(the *bampf* sounds every time he teleports) and mystique( she's like so calm and smart)....its longer than x1 i think...and have more interesting characters
somehow i thought rogue in the movie is not like rogue in the comics.....oh yah....rogue should be able to fly....but i guess she havent got that power yet that time....i thought she behaves like jubilee...maybe bcos she's still a student and plus the brother-sister relationship with Wolverine.....
oh and abt lady deathstrike.....she was widely publicised but she din talk the whole show did she?.....but she looks very cool anyway...with her killer talons that would not stop puncturing wolverine :-x .....i thought that was a very *ouch* scene

x-men2's totally awesome!
it would have been complete if i
- remember part 1
- had read the comics (is it still available??)
- had watched the cartoons (there is one i heard?)
i never really go for special effects but Mystique is simply amazing! since she can be anyone, doesnt that make her the most powerful mutant?
wish i know more abt this x-men series...
all these talk abt Gambit (i dun even know who he is!), Rogue (in the comics) etc is getting me all hungry for more details!!

They did do an X-men series in the early 90s that was pretty close to the comics. The one they have out now is X-Men Evolution which takes all the characters and sets them in high school (except for the professor). It's in season 2 right now and it's oretty good. Check it out if you can. The stories are quite creative.

I loved the cartoon series in the 90s. But X men Evolution is really nothing close... but oh man.. better than not having any x men as well! :)
X2 sounds awesome... my friends were describing it to me, and I REALLY want to see it... must see it sometime over the weekend.. yes.. ::determined look:: But I want to see Matrix Reloaded even more. The Matrix was one of my favorite movies... I love Keanu Reeves!! He totally fits the part, and his voice is so cool. The action scenes are even cooler. The trailer makes me twitch.. with wanting to see it ness.. hahaha, you think Gandalf to Magneto is bad? How about Elrond to Agent Smith?!? :excited:
Hahaha.. I'm looking forward to Full Throttle (the sequel to Charlie's Angels, I think) but I haven't seen Charlie's Angels in such a long time I probably forgot everything. I'll have to rewatch that before the sequel comes out.
Oh man... I know what Dippin dots are!! They have stands of them everywhere at amusement parks like Six Flags or Disneyland.. it's kinda like the "future" of ice cream - it's ice cream, but in really small pebble form, so you can eat scoops of it, and it melts in your mouth... IT'S SOO GOOD.... they also have them in little vending machine thingys at movie theaters, but so far, they've all been out of order. But nothing tastes better on a hot day of walking around an amusement park than DIPPIN DOTS. THE FUTURE OF ICE CREAM. ::sighs::
:)
Gwen910

Didn't they have Dippin Dots at McDonalds for awhile? I never tried it since i'm not big on ice cream. (unless it's Haagen Daaz Tiramisu!:D) I like sorbet and gelato more.
Argh...I was wrong...they didn't move the release date up to the 14th for the Matrix. Oh well...I can always go to one of the midnight shows.:D I think the art design and the costumes are very cool for the Matrix.:)
But go see X-Men first....there's a good sense of humor about it that won't be in the Matrix.

just caught X2 last nite. and after all the strong urging from my bro and friend, I made my dad dig up all his x-men comics so that i can devour them.
actually this time round, i've got a bit of problem with the bad guys. everytime i see magneto, his eyes seem to be sparkling, telling me "i'm gandalf! i'm gandalf!". I just can't imagine him as the bad guy anymore. and I love the way mystique transforms into each character. so cool!
so who's your favourite mutant?
yikes! just read that nightcrawler's mum is mystique! that explains the blue....

I saw the movie today!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I like it so much!!
Forgive me, but I did not find the Gambit reference. Where was it? Maybe it was when I went to the bathroom...hmmm.
I'm so excited for X3!!! I hope they film it soon.
Also... can someone explain the Phoenix part. I know she comes back, but I heard she comes back evil? I stopped reading the comics a long time ago, I used to read them every week or so.

X Men 2,actually is out of my imagine,cz the X Men 1 is not very good actually, but when I saw the new movie X2,wow,really freak me out.More charactors, more action sequence, more stunts, more computer generated animation...
Pitty Kelly Hu doesn't talk much or play much for the X2,but she really cool, but at least in this movie, she is the main threat for wolverine,haha.....
Magneto, gossh,my favourite bad guys in X-Men,haha,he really acts very well in X2 for Magneto,as good as he act as Gandalf in LORs.
Matrix II Reloaded, wow, really waiting for it,I watch the trailer when I watch X2 in cinema, wow,it surprise ma again, great action great computer animation, and Neo,god, very 'diao',haha......
Mystique is indeed Nightcrawler's mom. Though Mystique is not the biological mother of Rogue, she did raise her with this other lady who I can't recall the name of.
oh yes... i saw the cartoon about this as well....no wonder both of them are blue in color..
X-2 is a lot better that the previous one.
there are more animation. more actions.
but cyclops is quite weak in this movie... i think *iceman* or pyro are more useful.
anyone one of you watch charlie's angel:full throttle trailer?
and hulk's latest trailer?

Hulk (the movie) is so much bigger than the TV series hulk back in the 70s (80s?) which starred Lou Ferigno. The movie version's green monster looks non-human size.
X2, to me is better than Part one. Well they'd better be, since so much is expected of a sequel. But I was disappointed with how cliche some things were - eg. the jet that didn't start during those oh-so-crucial moments. And why couldn't Iceman just freeze the water? Could Storm have helped as well? And Rogue...she did not put any of her gift to use, not then, not this time either.
BTW, why was she (Rouge) flying the jet? Did I miss something?
I'll be back here after getting Reloaded.
yah! why couldnt just iceman freeze the water?
i was thinking about that too.
rogue help to put off the fire where pyro gone crazy.
do you consider that she used her gift?
maybe becoz she played an important role in the previous one, so she is out in this one.
why rogue fly the jet? i dunno as well! hehe~

I think Rogue will probably "absorb" the flying ability?? She some of the personalities gets absorbed into her own character as well.
anyways... someone wanna tell me where the gambit reference was?>

It was when Mystique was in Stryker's compound searching the computer for Magneto's files. When she was scrolling down the list of names, just above Magneto was Remy Lebeau. :)

Those who are (from their initial contract) are Famke Janssen, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Alan Cumming, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Aaron Stanford. It'll be interesting how #3 comes about.
There was a quick Gambit reference...did ya'll catch it?:D
.
Famke Janssen is returning? Hmmm- interesting...
*mind is making up the plot for X3 already*
Gwen, pls do Chun Li and the rest of us a favour and TELL when/where Gambit was mentioned? In the school scenes?

Ashley:
Hahaha. You must be too excited about your hols (We'll miss you). Regina has just stated the reference in the post directly above you!

More about X3. There's beem talk that they might sign up Zhang Ziyi for X3 for the role of Psylocke! Also, the Kelly Hu will be rejoining the cast! Woohoo!
Also, if you can remember, there was a scence in X2 where Magneto sucks the iron out of the body of the guard, inside the plastic chamber. Well, in the comic book, Magneto once sucked the adamantium out of Logan's body in a battle. Wolverine did heal eventually but we actually find out that his claws were bone all along, and only plated with adamantium, rather than added surgically. And if you can still remember, Stryker did mention that he was the one who made Wolverine, implying that he was not born with the adamantium claws.
About the Phoenix saga, the phoenix is an alien entity of immense power. As Jean was dying, she truck a deal with the phoenix to take over her body so she can save her friends. So the phoenix took a part of Jean's life force and replicated the mind and form of Jean Grey. But because the phoenix's powers were too strong for Jean's human body to control, the Dark phoenix was born. There's going to be a battle that takes place on the Moon. And when the Dark phoenix tries to take the lives of the fellow Xmen and becomes a threat to earth, Jean kills herself.

After Chun Li's desperate plea for Gambit, I typed my reply and was distracted by a phone call. Regina must've posted at this time and I did not think to check before submitting mine. Ha-ha! Made me look like such a noob.
Now my plea is for someone to pls tell me why Rogue was flying the jet?

Famke Jannesen and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are among the few to sign on for the first 3 movies when they originally signed up for the X-Men series. So it should be interesting stuff when the third one comes out.
And I was right!!! Matrix is opening on Wednesday! I already got my tickets! Whoo-hoo! Go get yours!

Nah, I want to watch Matrix when I've heard some comments on it .
A thought suddenly crossed my mind, poor Ian McKellan must've had a real tight schedule, what with all 3 installments of LOTR and X Men!
Gwen910

The entire LOTR series was filmed all at once; they're just releasing one a year. So McKellan was done with the main filming for LOTR about 2 years ago. So will he do a third...?
I rewatched Matrix today and am jazzed for Reloaded. Less than a day left!

I got my tickets for Matrix on Tuesday! I'm going to watch it Thursday!! I'm so excited. Actually, I'm only excited about watching the wushu.
Satanrina, I'm so impressed that you know all this. Are you an avid collector of the comic books? Also, when Jean was all red before she "died" in the movie, was that where she was making a deal with the Phoenix?
I like the reviews that I read on www.aintitcoolnews.com
Ashley, you can try to read the reviews of the Matrix there.

Singapore's censors cut out Neo's lovemaking scenes. Damn, now I won't get to see Keanu's tushie.
I don't actually read comic books, but I've got friends who do. And I got friends who treat watching every movie like a visit to the museum so I have to do my research to keep up with them.
Now I have to go back to the comics to find out why Rogue was flying the jet.

I was surfing yahoo last night and in the Xmen cast abd credits, there was Kea Wong as Jubilee. I really don't remember seeing her though I watched X2 again last night. I remember the girl who screams and breaks all the glass and the girl who walks through walls and some others but not this one.
But the worst is perhaps this hints for Jubilee's character to rise in X3? Oh man.. Jubilee is my least favourite character... she's erm... irritating. Haha!
Martix reloaded is censored here.. yeah.. wat a waste. But I'm slightly glad for not imposing the R-rating.. or else I'll have to wait till the DVD comes out.

just a bit more news on x3. here's what a bit bruce davison gotta say on it:
"I don't know what the story is with the third film. I had lunch with ['X-Men' director] Bryan Singer in Vancouver recently and he seems pretty busy. I know he wants to make 'Logan's Run' and he's directing 'Superman' now. I know they're trying to put a script together for 'X-Men 3,' but no one knows how the story is going to evolve."
He's also heard rumors that Halle Berry won't come back as Storm because the part isn't large enough. "I guess I could play Storm if all else fails," he said. "I'd just have to get a wig."
:shifty: for more news, check
http://www.x3movie.net
oh yeah a bit off topic , there gonna be a Hellboy2 and maybe even a Hellboy3. also Elektra, and Hulk2. http://www.superherohype.com

I was a X men comic fan. I always thought that there are too much characters in it. Now, its getting out of hand. There are too many character to focus. And its hard to tell who is suppose to do what. I don't see any development in the story, except for Jean Grey's part.

Here's a link to download the latest X-Men III: The Last Stand movie trailer:
http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/xmenthelaststand/xmenthelaststand_h640w.mov
I hope you guys enjoy it as this is a very nice trailer. The original cast are back plus new characters and developed characters alike such as Pyro, Iceman, Archangel, Dark Phoenix and last by not least, BEAST! The Beast in this movie looks so damn cool, I can't wait to see it. The smartest mutant in the X-Men ranks I think he is. Maybe he will play an important role in reverting Jean Gray back to normal in this movie.
