[TW Drama] Who's watching Meteor Garden 2 right now?

totally totally random, gotta admit it. I know that Meteor Garden 2 has come out and I've heard a lot of negative stuff about it. so for all those who are currently watching, is it that bad? I've watched the first one and I found it hilarious. hehe, it was actually MG who got me hooked with F4 and then Jay cuz they're all from Taiwan. Now I'm definitely more Jay-oriented than F4, but anyhoo... so can anyone tell me if it's worth watching it or not? muchas gracias (thank you in spanish)

I'm in the U.S. so I haven't watched it or gotten the VCDs but I did hear it wasn't as good as the first one. But I mean the first one was SO GOOD so it is very difficult to beat it, but none the less I'm still very very excited to watch MG2!!! XD

MG1 was all right. It's too bad they had to rip the idea off a japanese comic instead of write their own story. And DA S and her sister have reputation for being bitches. I haven't seen MGII but my friends in family in Taiwan says it sucks, and that they were happy they were done filming it. :? Anyways, Sweet Lemon is a lot better.

The second ones are always bad, just like Toast Man's Kiss. They just hurridly write a second one while its still hot to keep the fans going and the money coming in.

As for it ripping off... I'm sure they bought the licensced rights off the author, but still. It's always easy to use someone else's idea and make money off of it. But how much better is it if you make money off of your OWN creation?

the same thing happened to me!! haha... o except the community i live in is super asian so i'd already heard a bit bout jay. nehooz meteor garden was so unbelievably good... i watched the entire series 2 times over the summer. *grin. sum of my friends have already seen MG2 and say that it definitely can't compare w/ the first and that its much more sad. personally, i prefer more comedy. ive seen teh first two episodes of MG2 which were good, but i heard bout a lot of the dull parts later on as well. too bad i can't reely start watching til im done w/ sat's... o yea also, i dont like the plot cuz my fav character is hua zhe lai (vic zhou aka zaizai) and it reely sux cuz he faces more dissapointment... i already kno what happens, being the overly curious and impatient type, but i wont ruin it for ne1 :)

the new actress .. isn't really new. michelle cheng (suet yee) is originally from singapore or malaysia (i think) & for the past few years she's been in quite a lot of hong kong dramas. i personally don't think she can act for s*** and she is supposed to be "the third wheel" between jerry & barbie's characters.

i read the reviews on yesasia.com & they said that the plot is really messed up & that mgii almost ruins mgi. :crazy:

oh well. i still want to see mgii. & i've fallen in love with vic's character in mgi. :p

actually he looks fine in mg2, his face jist looks really puffy in the new music video. :wink: i luv zaizai's character (hua zhe lai) too!! especially how he's always there to listen to sahn tsai and comfort her. and the way he keeps looking silently into the distance makes him seem like such a thoughtful and peaceful guy. awww, so cute!! :D too bad i dont kno any guys like that.

i'm watching it right now... i'm on episode... 16 i think. i think there's a lot more plot development and a lot more things happening in meteor garden 2. the first episode was kind of boring and slow because the dialogue between shan cai & dao ming si in spain was so cheesy and bLllegHhhh!

i've seen it... and yes, it IS bad... cos they've taken the story out of the comic context and create their own, so the characters became weak.. dao ming shi turns into a sap instead of the stubborn, hot-tempered hunk he used to be... and everyone else is just.. i dunno.. you guys just have to see it, it was quite disappointing..
i think it started out pretty good then everything went wrong halfway... just like the rumours stated, f4 had too much exposure and it's obvious in MG2 that they're working half-heartedly, you know.. they should have a little break otherwise they're gonna burn out and have a breakdown or something..(or maybe they have already?)

I've completed the whole 31 series of MG II. Save your time and money - recommended series :
1- the reason of being Tao Ming Tse amnesia, view of Barcelona and the kiss.
9 -sweet & sad valentine for Sanchai
13 - Sanchai meet TaoMingTse for the first time
21 - Ximen is really handsome (arrrgh) even when hospitalized
24 - the pool incident - the memory is back
28 - let the meteor determine our love fate.
MG I is much much better (I've replay it > 5x already) - the comic is even funnier . MG II : Ximen definitely look really handsome here !

Hey,for my opinion,MG 2 is better than the first one.The story line is better than the first one and the script,the line,really means a lot.

MG 1 is just like a childish drama thats fooling around for me.Maybe is because it is the first drama of F4.Maybe is because F4 doesn't have much experience in acting.

But in MG 2,F4 really improved in their acting.Even the ways the speaks.And I like how the director direct this drama.And the background music.Really pull out the feelings of the who drama.

U feel warm when watching it.And this MG 2 is more in touch about Love,Friendship,Responsibility,Family......

And all of a sudden, Lei change into this superhero idiot that keeps helping San Tsai to get DMS back, while he's holding back his feeling for her. :dry:

Dao Ming Si has gone into a total jerk that I REALLY HATE!!! Unlike his character in MG, the innocent Dao Ming Si who would do anything for love, right now DMS has gone into a person who they so called "mature". But to me, he's nothing but a total jerk who is selfish by saying he doesn't want to know his past. Gah gah..., And I totally miss the expression and the eye gaze of of DMS when he's jealous.

Ye Sha is simply one too-perfect girl that they put and too bad they don't come with a too-perfet package. She looks yucks. :bigyuck: She looks like white Indian, which kinda spoil the character.

If only they throw away A-Mei and his bro, the skinny girl who kept following Qing He, and kinda get rid of the idea of trying to make each character in F4 important (Vanness and Ken), I think the serial would be bearable to watch.

They drag the story in the first to the middle, and they rush out the ending. They actually was running out of budget since the shooting of the serials were running off schedule. So they kinda rush the ending, which totally spoil the whole story. :dry:

So anyone who watched MG1 and think it rocks, DON'T SPOIL IT BY WATCHING THE MG2.

Haha I already posted this long long series of gripes i had about MG2 under another forum, think it was MG - best mini series ever....

one quick thing though: if u hit the fast forward button each time ye sha appears, the series aint too bad after all.... :yeah: personal opinion though, but if anyone sits through a couple more discs, i pretty much guarantee that her giggle will REALLY get on your nerves...!!!

DMS was a toughie on the outside, but a real softie inside in MG1, yet in MG2 he just totally lost it. period.
though i gotta say i kinda liked the vanness bit, its a nice distraction from the SC DMS Ye Sha Lei love quadrangle.....the ending where she played his fav song on the cello was pretty sweet!!! :angel:
though i gotta say the ken bits were majorly boring..... :bigyawn:

hm..this is really an old thread, i'm sure i posted somewhere in here before, but anyways..a.s i was reading through some of the recent posts...I agree with Summer about the characters. I love Lei, even more than dms, and i was fairly disappointed with him too, I was completely sucked into his mysterious aura, and the way he was always clever, wise, and calm with everything. Though i really did love the way he held back his feelings for San Chai when he knew she didn't love him that way, and that he protected her and helped her when she needed it, i was actually anticipating that from him, but it just turned out a little too much. He learnt to be bold about his feelings, which is, a good thing, but the way it was presented just doesn't appeal to me.

As for dms, i too, very much miss the old dms, the one that was blunt and charges at anything to get what he thought was worth it, he was loved because of that character, and though it's nice to see he's 'matured' as Summer said, it dulls everything, his fiery personality was, undeniably one of the most interesting and spicy character in MG.

But on the bright side, i wouldn't say it COMPLETELY ruined MG 1, because...well...real people grow up, and i guess that some of that reality was put into the story. This was a more depressing, and disappointing sequel to MG 1, but i think that if you look close enough, there's always something good in everything, and this is no exception. Through all this, Dms and San Chai, especially San Chai realized how much they needed each other, and it helped Lei realize that he cannot deny feelings sometimes.

So it wasn't that great, and a little bit of a drag to watch through, but all in all, i can honestly say i didn't regret i watched it, if that means anything.

i dont know...maybe im just really strange but i like yesha...the character michelle saram played...i think its really a shame that a lot of people hate her or dislike her so much now coz of her character in MG2...but what i dont really understand is why everyone hates yesha so much...aside from the fact that she's with dms the most part of MG2...her character's really very likeable...so light and happy all the time...so optimistic and always looks at the beatiful things in life...instead of the ugly ones...
but...yeah...i guess i could understand people hating her character...but some are just exaggerating a bit much...

I think the reason why pple (or if not others, at least myself) aren't particularly fond of yesha is coz:

1. Her giggle!!! Seriously, I think if you sit through the whole 31 discs(?) and her giggle doesn't get on your nerves, you have the temperance of a saint. I started off being neutral about her, but after awhile, her giggle (she does it every 2 minutes!) drove me nuts.... plus since i'm a lei fan :blush: i would be more than happy if yesha ended up with DMS -- haha then Lei can get SC!!! then again maybe not....it would have been a wierd ending if that happened :angel: !!!
though i did remember reading someplace that DMS was *supposed* to end up with yesha, just that too many fans wrote in to complain and then they changed the script so that DMS and SC would be together...not too sure if that's fact or fiction....

2. Don't you think that she's also kinda too good to be true? like you said, she's ever optimistic etc etc.....but i think she's overly self sacrificial.....seems too unreal....

I did finish the whole MG2 not too long ago. Bought the whole VCD and so on cause i thought it would be like the first one which was a really cool & funny show.

I was disappointed with the second story line just because Dao Ming Si seems very weak not like his usual angry and macho self :bleh: The story line is just slow but towards the end it got pretty good but it is definitely a challenge to get to the last VCD of the show.

Yap the second one is bad. The movie is getting so boring. I watch the first one again and again. But the second one i won't repeated it. Fortuately iwatch it on VCD so it's not getting too long. But if you watch it on TV and it played once a week. Ahh, hen wu liao. I used too like the bad behavior of Tao Ming Tse but now he become one of the good guy. Hated. And I love Vanness to but he finally found his girl of a dream. Hated too. But why on the last episode it said to be continued. But i thought they not continued the series right?

i wouldn't really know about her giggle though on account of MG2 is dubbed in my language here...so its a different voice im hearing...and i actually would have no problem if yesha ended up with dms on account of i think lei should be happy with the person he loves coz he just deserves it so much...
...but yeah...i guess yesha is too good to be true...but luckily...she's just a made-up character so they could make her as infinitely good as they want.

I just finished watching it. They were showing it in teh Bay Area. It wasn't as bad as people said it would be, but the acting was still horrible, and plot predictable. That YieSa girl was so annoying. Her accent annoyed the heck out of me. I wouldn't buy it on VCD though.

I've seen the first ten parts but then i stopped watching it. It wasnt as good as the first one. I didnt understand mandarin or cantonese so i just watch what they did. It just got really boring cuz i kept fast fowarding it and still he didnt gain his memory back. I got annoyed so i stop watching it. the first one was so much better.

Meteor Garden 2 really was a disappointment. It wasnt as funny as the first one and it was totally wrecked by that foreign woman. However the ending was quite sweet. I prefer Dao ming si as the Da shao ye than the loser guy with no memory and money...hehe sorry

i mean, i never did like the arrogant, stubborn DMS (i was rooting for the caring, charming Lei the whole time :love: haha) but i liked him a lot better as "ah si" than "ah xing"

oh and im visiting barcelona soon, so i thought i'd rewatch the eps where they were in barcelona/spain so that i can give myself a lil "MG2" tour while im there!!!
but my vcds aren't with me, so i don't quite want to download everything again....

so i was planning on just downloading the ones with barcelona and spain in them...

MG2 sucks. Dont' watch it. MG1 was pretty good and funny to me...maybe cuz it originated from a comic....but the 2nd series they just made it up from scratch, and its really boring. Haha just my opinion tho.

ahh i remember Meteor Garden I and II.. it's what first got meh interested in the chinese entertainment circle...and i still have 25-31 episodes of MG II on my shelf gathering dust :)
i think the first series was better.. the second series was a bit of a let down but i suppose MG I was real hard to beat anyway

I finally got to watch MG2 and yes, MG1 was better. It was too slow in MG2... Maybe it's the purpose, but I was fed up to never see San Cai and Dao Ming Si together most of the episodes lol! Too much Ye Sha, not because she's San Cai's rival, just we see her too much compared to San Cai who is the main character...

I saw the Meteor Garden 2, and I was heartbroken. I recommend you read the manga instead. That's the original. Meteor Garden 2 is part of the whole storyline if you compare it to the manga. I guess it would be kind of incomplete if you didn't watch it, but it is kind of disappointing.

MG 2 can never be better than MG1. But I liked the love story between Vaness and the cello girl :-) The Doraemon theme song played by a cello sounds really cute!

Wow. Meteor Garden 2. Its like ages.. I think the drama is nice also. I think 2 is not as good as 1 is because they tend to drag the show. And maybe left out too much details..
