* he opened a hip-hop clothing/accessory shop with his friend liu geng hong in taiwan called 'wu shi' (warrior)

* a few dj's/tv personalities in taiwan had jay composing ring tones for their cell phones (they simply gave the phone to jay to key in the tones

* before the lyrics for 'ye ye pao de cha' was written, jay had made up a line to sing on his demo tape: 'ye ye pao de cha/nan he ye yao shuo hao he' (the tea brewed by grandpa/tastes bad but still have to say it's good). he actually sang that line while performing the song at his 'the one' concert in taiwan.

* he is short-sighted but doesn't wear glasses/contact lens in public (sometimes you can see him 'narrowing' his already small eyes to see things in the distance..)

* in 'ban dao tie he', the female voice at the start of the song was one of the staff at alfa music

* fang wen shan did online research for topics of some of his lyrics, 'ai zai xi yuan qian' (love before 3000 bc) was one of them

* the lyrics to 'an hao' (secret signal) was written by a staff from the planning department at alfa music. jay, fang wen shan and company manager yang jun rong had set up an internal employee lyrics competition for that...

* he picked up cello at high school simply because the female cello teacher was pretty

* he still drives the station wagon (?) his company provided him

* wu zhong xian (jacky wu) said at an interview (2002) that he still owed jie lun song royalty worth around 20 million, and mentioned that jay and his mother had once told him to forget about it.

* it took zhang xue you (jacky cheung) three hours to record the song 'suan ming', a song jay wrote for him, because it was so fast and tongue-twisting

* back at end of 2001/start of 2002, hk radio 903 dj vani was on a working trip to taiwan and discovered (fell in love with) jay's debut album, brought the album back to hong kong and played on her radio program, which soon attracted very high air-plays, prompting bmg hk to officially distribute his album in hong kong...

* fang wen shan and jay once had a huge argument over the song 'niang zi' ('wife'), due to jay adding a rap part at the intro of the song (the words to the rap was taken directly from the lyrics) and recorded it without notifying fang. fang insisted on writing new words for the rap part but jay refused as he had already recorded the song..

* hsu ruo xuan (vivian hsu) was discontented with jay during the making of his second album 'fan te xi', over the song 'kai bu liao kou' ('couldn't speak out') which vivian wrote lyrics for. jay had re-named the title to 'kai bu liao kou' without telling vivian, and she thought he was disrespectful in doing that...alfa paid and jay apologised to settle this... (they're still very good friends)

* in his 'fen lie' ('split') music video, the scene where he refused a cigarette from a group of boys at school was really what had happened to him at high school..

* at jin hua guo zhong (high school jay attended), past school year books kept in the school library which had jay's face on it had all been ripped out or cut out by other students..therefore..u can no longer find one pic of jay appearing in the old school year books.

But where is Wu Shi located? I mean, which shopping centre? They probably sell lots of Hip Hop styled clothing. Sounds like they do. Also, I noticed Jay loves a lot of those American Hip Hop brands, like Karl Kani, Pelle Pelle, Phat Farm. Went to check off their web...whoaaa! They're sure expensive!

As for Kai Bu Liao Kou, I personally have no idea what it was supposed to be. Anyone knows? :?

Luckily Jay didnt pick up smoking cos it is really bad for health, remember reading smewhere he didnt pick up smoking becos everybody is doing it then and as we know abt Jay he likes to be different from others that whys he didnt pick up smoking!!! More interesting stuff about how Jay wrote his music that I found on jaycn!! Its cool when u go back and listen to those parts and realize what has gone on in its making... :roll:

1. Dad, I'm Back was originally written for kang kang. When fang wen shan wrote the lyrics it was titled Give My Bitch A Slap (Im not kidding!!), and was rejected by Jacky Wu. After it was re-written by Jay as Dad, Im Back, Kang Kang tried singing it but it sounded odd, so they rejected the song again.

2. Old Indian Dove was written after watching Jacky Chan's movie <Dragon from the East>. Jay used Black Humor's lyrics to write the melody for Old Indian Dove, then took out the lyrics and handed the melody to Fang Wen Shan to fill in.

3. Shi Jie Mo Ri was written after being rejected by a girl (the movie incident we all know about).

4. Ban Shou Ren was written after going to the restroom, Jay suddenly got the inspiration for its melody.

5. The soft musical arrangement at the beginning of Love Before the Century was written by Jay in his demo tape, the rest of the formal music arrangement came in later. The C part at the end of the second section of the song was thought up by Jay spontaneously during the recording of the song and added in then.

6. The simple Japanese phrases in Ninja were learnt by Jay through watching Japanese dramas, he didnt get a teacher to teach him.

7. When making the demo tape for Shanghai 1943, Jay thought of adding in the sound of an antique voice recorder, but decided not to use it after finding out that other people have used that before.

1. He doesn't like to be disturbed when recording his demo tapes, so he does it secretly, because he wants to surprise people with his music. When he lets his friends listen to the completed music, he'll ask them "diao bu diao" (diao or not?) and get them to clap their hands along with the music. [haha.. super cute!]

2. When Jay was producing Dao Ma Dan with Coco, he addressed her as "Miss Coco" (coco xiao jie) all the time. Only later when he got to know her better did he dare to call her Coco.

3. Jay has a way with composing mobile phone ringtones, Taiwanese singer Zheng Yi's current ringtone is composed by Jay, and this is already the 2nd time he's done it for her! Like a true creative genius, Jay plays around with her phone for a while and produces a beautiful ringtone melody in less than 10 minutes!

4. Xiao Dao from 5566 is a good friend of Jay's, they often play basketall together, and are "friends with the same illness". When Xiao Dao was hospitalized for a waist injury, Jay who suffers from spinal inflammatory disease went to visit him despite the pain recurring. When 5566 was in Singapore doing their promo, Xiao Dao heard that Jay was also in Singapore and immediately picked up his mobile phone to call Jay, "Hey superstar, gone to bed yet?" On hearing his voice, Jay went "Hey big shot, not yet!" The next day, over 3000 fans showed up at 5566's event, Xiao Dao called Jay again and said, "Superstar, I'm sorry, we've got more than 3000 fans here today, I'm afraid we took more than 3000 off your concert ticket sales!" Jay went, "Big shot, that's okay, I'll still pack a full concert today no matter what!"

All of these facts are really interesting. It's cute how he called Coco "Coco xiao jie". They must be good friends by now... She seemed to get a kick out of introducting him at the MTV Asia Music Awards.

By the way, Dao Ma Dan's music video didn't have any JAY in it... I was so disappointed. I expected to see at least a cameo appearance of him. The song itself is pretty cool.

yep... Dad i'm back was written for Kang kang initially. but kang kang admitted tt he couldn't sing it properly coz he's used to talking quite slowly (if u've watched him on tv, u'd know what i mean) and so he was unable to do the rapping part. but he did practise it and included it in his latest cd. not bad really, considering he did it Live in a pub in front of an audience.

I don't know if this has been posted, but from what I remember, I haven't seen it. Anyway, I got this from jay_zai yahoo group.

Hei Ren used to be a senior at Jay's school. Hei Ren and Tang Zhi Zhong were in the basketball team and Jay, who was 1 or 2 years their junior, actually joined the team for about 10 days. However, because the training was too tough, Jay quit after 10 days and joined the choir instead.

* Jay went on "Asia Love" programme and accepted the reporter's interview. The reporter kept asking Jay about his love life and other matters of the heart. Suddenly, Jay turned the tables and asked the reporter when his first sexual experience was. The reporter was stumped.

* Jay went on an entertainment programme where Hei Ren was the guest host. This was during the promotional period of 8D. Hei Ren was talking about Jay's loss at a previous basketball game and what his punishment/forfeit was. Jay had to face the nearby houses and shout "I am Zhou Jie Lun! And I want the whole of Taipei city to know that I don't know how to play basketball!", at 2-3 in the MORNING.

* During the promotional period for The One Concert, Jay went on the entertainment news programme, Total Entertainment, hosted by Zhang Shan Wei and Wang Ren Fu (from 5566). They had this game segment where Jay was supposed to be performing a charade of the titles of his songs and allow the hosts to guess. After the very last title, Jay still continued with the charade. At this time, the cameramen and producers were puzzled; they knew that the charade should have ended. However, the hosts didn't know and were still guessing fervently. So the crew allowed Jay to continue and see what he was up to. Finally, Jay gave them a clue:
Jay: "What will happen to clothes which have been left on the shelf for a long time?"
Hosts: "Fa Mei" (grow mould)
And the hosts continued guessing from there...wondering which song of Jay's started with the word "Mei". Finally they gave up and asked Jay for the answer.

Hosts: Jay...why did you fool us!!

* At the celebratory dinner for the Fantasy concert, Jay was clumsy in opening the bottle of champagne. Jay asked a reporter if one could get drunk on champagne. The reporter told him no. Hence, at the reporters urging, Jay downed 3 glasses of champagnes consecutively. After which, Jay said he felt dizzy and had a ridiculous smile on his face. The people in the room wanted to see if Jay was really drunk and so asked him to sing a line from "Huang Mei Diao" (some chinese folk song?)...

Jay: Huang Mei Diao?? No problem...

And he proceeded to sing. However, he ended up singing another song instead! At this time, people knew he was probably drunk. :love:

I just finished watching Azio E-news and gathered a few more interesting bits about Jay. He was the special guest there.

1) Jay's first kiss happened when he was in his third year of secondary school education. (I'm reckoning that he was about 17-18 then?) She had long hair and was a girl from the next class.

2) When the hosts had to break the interview with him to go into a piece of news about some AV (Adult Video) girl, who has a 40I bustline,

the hosts asked Jay, "Do you want to look at busty girls?" (or something along that line).
Jay: "Ok."

Hosts: Do you have a preference for bustier girls?

Jay: No preference.

Hosts: Have you seen girls with I-cups?

Jay: No...I haven't seen any girls like that walking on the street...

Hosts: Oh...so you actually go and look?

Also, he said that if he were to design Jolin's wardrobe in the Qi Shi Jing Shen MV, he would have made her look a little sexier...or something.

4) Personal observation: He seems to be handling little jests about him and Jolin a little better. He does seem a little more comfortable in front of the camera too.
