seriously though!!! hey, i think we should get some suggestions about who MU should buy for midfield...hmmmm i heard there was this random dude from RM that was gonna leave....wats his name...started with "S" i dunno i think he was midfield...anyway...

ftlouiea
10-04-2004, 08:10 PM
Hmm... never heard that fartking.

w4t3rlily: yeah! like, a few months back, it was like we only had one striker, ruudy. now, we have over supply, which is good, i guess!

Did anyone see Arsenal play Charlton game? One of Henry's goal was absolutely amazing!

A defender was wrestling, so he had his back to the goal. He turned his head to look at back, and kicked the ball with his heel through the defender's legs, and IN it went!

m o n k e e
10-05-2004, 03:10 AM
fartking: i think the player you're talking about was Solari. He would start on most teams in Europe, but in RM hes mainly a substitute since hes not a "galactico"

i don't think MU needs many more players cos their midfield is already well balanced with roy keane and paul scholes in the middle & ronaldo on the right, unfortunately maybe giggs is getting past his best.. he can't really kick with his right foot & doesn't have the pace to cut in anymore.. defence is good tho silvestre is getting a bit tardy but with ferdinand back he shud bring stability..

yah manu is not consistent thought mu can win so i place my bet in mu but lost in tat match.. but lucky i place my bet in chelsea vs liverpool.. took chelsea so won back my money.... in my opinion arsenal will be unbeaten till they meet manu... tat will be the decidin part... but i hope arsenal will win manu.... or a draw is ok.....

10-05-2004, 09:40 AM
haha yeh!! monkee!! thats rigHT!! i was thinking...either solari or solano....but then i gave up cos it was too hard to choose...i got confused...

jay_jielun>>>are u seriuoS? u reckon we dont need more players in miD??? u cRAZY??? even they hav enough for first 11, what if injured? they will hav no replcement!!

w4t3r_lily
10-05-2004, 09:50 AM
Yeah..MU always have a big problem if one of the midfielder get injured. I wish they can stay fit forever..lol..but we need back up. I thing those young player such as Fletcher haven't got the right time to show their ability.

Arsenal will be beaten someday..right now they are unbeaten just like MU at 1998 season..but one day they will be beaten cos i think most of the team are 30s or 25 above.

The World Player of the Year nominations are a joke

Raul - Did not score at Bernabeu for 9 long months.....

Drogba- Cisse had outscored him in the french league by more than 10 goals

Rooney- 9 goals in the league for Everton yet he's nominated. Enjoyed a good tournament doesn't turn him into the best player in the world.

Baros- 2 goals for Liverpool last season and top scorer in Euro 2004 doesn't mean he's the best player in the world

Beckham- Played like a sunday league player since the sex scandal during the last campaign

Roberto Carlos- lmfao

Giggs- Must be nominated by imbeciles or is that a stupid joke?

Zinedane- Not on top form in the last campaign

Adriano, Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Figo, Cafu, Buffon, Oliver Khan, Owen, Ballack and Zarogakis don't deserve to be on the list.

Adriano, Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Figo, Cafu, Buffon, Oliver Khan, Owen, Ballack and Zarogakis don't deserve to be the on list.

I agree with you on almost everyone there, but you cant seriously suggest Adriano doesnt deserve to be on the list.. do you even know who he is? Many say he is the best Striker at the moment and has the potential to become as good as Ronaldo is/was, in other words hes had a good year. He destroyed defenses in the most defensive league in the world, the Serie A, with Parma with 23 goals in 1 and a bit seasons before being immediately brought back to Inter and has scored 9 from 9. He scored 7 goals in the Copa America and was awarded the best player of tournament there. Not only is he huge and strong, but is agile, quick and like most Brazilians, a great dribbler.

I agree with you on Owen, the fact hes there really brings questions about the credibility of these awards, hes done zilch for 2 years. I mean last year Zidane was awarded the prize despite a quiet year, while Pavel Nedved, the overwhelming favorite, wasnt even in the top three.

If there is any justice in this world... the award should go to either Deco, formerly of Porto, for his matchwinning performances in League, Champions League and Euro 2004 or Ronaldinho, amazing season, easily the best in La Liga, singlehandedly taking his team from the bottom to 2nd on table.....

sleepin'tom
10-06-2004, 01:03 PM
lol @ myself. I seldom watch Italian football or maybe I didn't watch at all!

The award should go to Ronaldinho who made my jaw dropped almost everytime I watch him play. He almost single-handledly brought Barcelona to the runners up spot. He is one of the most exciting player to watch. I give him a grade AM for his performance - absolutely marvellous

10-06-2004, 01:12 PM
hey i think that hilary duff should be hottest person!!! haha sorrrYY! im jus really obsessed with her..i love her heaps....anyway....i really wanna watch Ronaldinho play...thoughi cant...which really sux but hey, listening to u guys talk about him is pretty good too!! like 3 weeks ago, i saw him for Brazil for some WC2006 qualifying...man he scored from a free kick caned the keepeR!!!

sleepin'tom: Giggs deserves to be on the list coz he is quietly brilliant. But tho Rooney is great, how long has he been playing, compared to the maturer players. Goals does not equal excellence, but in no way am i saying Rooney is not good! Zidane is the world's favourite, so no matter what happens with his football in the year, he kinda always wins.

sleepin'tom
10-07-2004, 08:39 AM
'Goals does not equal excellence.' I agree with you on this sentence but not on Rooney. If Rooney didn't score 4 goals in Euro 2004 will the media kiss his @**? No. Rooney is a striker not a midfielder or defender. He has to score goals on a regular basis at the league and international level to prove that he's a true world class player. He did that at the international level. In the league? I don't need to explain. Giggs was not at his peak at the past campaign and he's nominated.

i cant wait for the England match!! :excited: im gonna miss half of it again though..wont be back from church till 4.. =P

but our U21's beat their U21 dragons 2-0 last night kekeke..so hopefully becks and co can do the same. I cant recall watching them against Wales hehe...its gonna be weird have giggsy on our opposing side. at least neville knows a lot about his style. methinks its gonna be close. =X

ftlouiea
10-09-2004, 08:40 PM
Chinese school coincided with match, but watching the replay, it was a great game! Even though Wales arent top class team, you could feel the underlying tension between both sides!

First goal: Lampard or Owen? I would say Owen. After all, the ball did redirect when it was at Owen's heel.

Beckham's goal was the "icing" of excellence!

jessca
10-09-2004, 08:51 PM
hmm...the ref gave it to lampard. but owen needs it. by the sounds of the postmatch interview, lampards happy to claim it, and owen couldnt really say much about it. but im indifferent =X

and beck's was sooo pwetty!!! i missed that side of him hehe.. =P

but yay! we won!! :D i only caught the second half, but i wish i saw more of giggsy. that would have made it a better match.

10-10-2004, 03:11 AM
My boyhood hero played very well, he should score a goal if he did it would be great. Who? Michael Owen. Lampard's shot did deflected off Owen's heel. It should be his goal because he's the last attacker who made the last contact with the ball. Beckham has sufferd a hairline crack of his ribcage. It's still uncertain how long will take to heal.

 tabloids reckon he'll be out for 2 months!! x_X

wonder if rio will take over the armband. :glug: both sven and fergie have commented on his leadership skills recently.

ftlouiea
10-10-2004, 06:03 PM
2 months? the hell with that! beckham is so dainty! his metatarsal (wrong spelling... :-) )i cant bear two months without beckham!

but owen used to be captain, they cant strip him suddenly of his captain band... right?

jessca
10-10-2004, 06:07 PM
6 weeks according to skysports atm...so i doubt its any more than 2 months.. :console:

and its looking to be owen as skipper. =) hope that means he'll score us some goals...

and metatarsals the right spelling..methinks.. :glug:

ftlouiea
10-10-2004, 06:30 PM
Owen as skipper for this wednesday?

Hmm the commentators were saying how stupid Beckham was to get a yellow card over a tackle on a Welsh player, leading him to miss Wednesday's match. Well, he's gonna miss it anyway now... thou they Beckham wasn't injured then... and who are we playing? K... something... enlighten me!

Wasn't the fuss over his Metatarsals inclulding sleeping in a pure oxygenated tent in his own home so he recovered quickly enough for the World Cup? :-)

jessca
10-10-2004, 06:37 PM
yup..this wednesday. and we are playing azer..bai..jan? :glug:

and yupyup again..his yellow card ruined his moment. but we'll let it go, cos his goal was oh-so-pretty. :D

i hadnt heard about the pure oxygen tent thing. >< what difference would the air he breathed make? youre the scientist, your turn to enlighten me.. =P

ftlouiea
10-11-2004, 08:09 PM
Who ever they are... we'll see. :-)

yup, oh so very pretty, made me reminisce back to Beckham's golden moments. Hum.

I'll be a lil Einstein for two seconds: it made him recover quick enough for the World Cup... :-) and made him the top form at the tournament! Wish i could have said that bout Euros.

jessca
10-11-2004, 11:35 PM
lol!! i figured that much out myself...but how did it make him recover so quick. :glug: actually..dont make me regret kicking out medicine as a career.. >< im happy not knowing hehe...

but becks has managed to get himself into the tabloids for the wrong reasons yet again. *sigh* usually hes the one i feel sorry for in the marriage of the beckhams, but his wife doesnt need this, not while shes pregnant anyhoos. poor brooklyn and romeo..

ftlouiea
10-12-2004, 07:37 PM
Hmm. I know. It seems that either Beckham has a lot of women crawling up to him, and pretending as though they slept with him... or he did it really. I hope it's not the latter, but these kiss-and-tell news are really disturbing, and I wish all the newsies would keep it down for everybody's sake. I'm sure nobody really wants to know, we just want to concentrate on football.

Beckham getting a yellow card deliberately? I think its very clever of Beckham, but not very fair on the laws of football, even if it is to Engliand's advantage.

w4t3r_lily
10-13-2004, 06:25 AM
Well wether he got the yellow card or not..he can't play for the next game against Azerbaijan ..am i spell it correctly? :glug: I herad that Owen will be the captain this time. Hope he can play well and scores some goals

sagara0510
10-13-2004, 07:52 AM
yeah Owen is going to captain the team.... whether that will improve his performance or not who knows...

makes u wonder if Beckham retired 2morrow... who would lead the side? Owen?? i hope not

sleepin'tom
10-13-2004, 11:43 AM
Owen is set to captain the team and I hope he will not keep that armband in the for a long time. He doesn't have much influence on the pitch. :worry: A midfielder or defender should be given the captaincy role because they have a better influence on the pitch. Gerrard(the next england's captain) should take the responsibility as he had shown he's up to the task. His inspiring performance single-handledly carry a struggling Liverpool to the 4th. :wink2: Too bad he's injured for the moment.

ftlouiea
10-13-2004, 08:03 PM
Hmm i dont know. Gerrard isn't mature enough himself, so no i wouldn't give him the band. Though if Owen was not given the band, I would sincerely recommend Ferdinand for his experience and his sense of leadership.

w4t3rlily: because he wasn't going to play in the game today due to injuries, he got a yellow card deliberately to rid his suspension in a game he wasn't going to play anyway. Which is cheeky, but clever. That was what i was going on about...

jessca
10-13-2004, 08:07 PM
:bang: I cant believe Becks has put his foot in it like that. And to say 'people dont think ive got the brains, but i can use my head' etc at the end of admitting deliberately getting a yellow is just...painfully ironic.

Yup, players do it a lot, yup its clever, but its not smart to fracking admit it. If the worst comes to the worst, he could get punished by FIFA and even sacked by Sven.

*sigh* on a lighter note..i think Rio would be great for the armband. Hes a born leader.

MonkeyKing
10-14-2004, 03:14 PM
i'm sure a lot of u would've heard but Becks has just issued an apology for the incident against wales  .... i personally think he did it cos he wanna escape any sanction that might b imposed either by FIFA or the FA but anyway, he sed he was sorry cos he knew as captain, he carried certain moral responsibility

all i can say was wat he did was stupid and clever at the same time in hindsight :D

ftlouiea
10-14-2004, 10:27 PM
#Isn't it ironic, dont you think?#

Jess: Beckham would get sacked from England team? What would that involve? I've never heard of a player being "sacked", "axed" yes.

Monks: Yeah he would have to say sorry to make sure he doesn't get banned for 9 months or something (outrageous Rio ban) and he owes it to footie fans.

jessca
10-14-2004, 10:33 PM
dana - sacked as in losing his position as skipper >< he has apologised though, and many people, both in the profession and the general public, still dont think its good enough. i dont think FIFA's officially said anything about it, and sven said that hed deal with it after the azerbaijan match.

and owen scored..yay. =X stoopid beckham saga has dampened the entire england campaign. =(

ftlouiea
10-14-2004, 10:57 PM
skipper? captain? well, not good. Oh well, FIFA have been very silent over this. I think they'll just let it fade since it wasn't that too big a deal, in terms of drugs/ penalty/ finals campaign. I'm curious that Wales have not struck a copmlaint over this, but if they let it lie, FIFA let it lie.

Yes, Owen kinda proved that he is improving. Dratted BBC had no match nor highlights.

jessca
10-14-2004, 11:08 PM
FIFA's Blatter said, "Saying sorry might make a difference - but you cannot forget what happened." And he insists Beckham should be disciplined by the FA and wants an investigation.. *gulp* just read it from the paper... ><

And i think the match was postponed while the ref decided whether to let the match go ahead..something about bad weather? I didnt have time to flick through Sky last night to look for it...but im pretty sure different matches were shown on Sky Sports 1 and 2.

hmm..but yeh, wales have been awfully quiet about this. :hmm:

m o n k e e
10-15-2004, 08:55 AM
I think the Welsh are doing the decent thing by not trying to stir more fuss into this matter.. poor Becks is in enuf shit already as it is haha

Hahahah.. the irony, i guess Beckham isnt as smart as he thinks he is... i remember reading the article on soccernet.com and was thinking, "Isn't he scared he'll be reprimanded for his admission?" Then the next day what do you know.. lol

I read somewhere that Roy Keane delibrately set out to kick the crap out of certain players a few years back, but at least he had the "brains" to admit it in a book years after the incidents lol

kirasuran
10-16-2004, 01:59 PM
umm...man i read this.....but what was the reason taht he stated for picking up the card??? was it...that he had an injury and so he might as well get banned and not waste a spot in the team for one match and come back later or something???

m o n k e e
10-16-2004, 03:08 PM
The reason is he was one more yellow card away from a one match international suspension. Since he knew he was injured and wouldnt be able to play the next game anyway, he decided to get a yellow card to "reset" his yellow card tally to zero, n thus have a clean run to the world cup without fear of missing out games.

jessca
10-16-2004, 06:26 PM
monkee - yeh, Keanes always handled it a lot better than Beckham, with the exeption of what happened during the world cup 2 years back. But Keane admitting he went into matches with the intention of 'hurting' certain players isnt really the most shocking thing in the world.. though id prefer to think of him as a player who isnt afraid of committing to a tackle. :D but yeh, keane has a string of awful tackles to his name.. :glug:

about the welsh..before Becks admitted it, the guy he tackled actually called it accidental in an interview. he reckoned becks timed it badly... bet he thinks differently now.

ftlouiea
10-16-2004, 07:32 PM
Keane did not tackle at certain times to reset his yellow card tally... you know? And Keane is such a violent player anyway! but very authoratative

Arsenal extended their unbeaten record to 49 games. They truly are unsinkable!

At last Liverpool won their first premiership away game. Liverpool look hopeless in the first half. Salif Diao has nothing to prove to the Liverpool fans. He was totally ineffective in the midfield. :-x Cost Liverpool a goal. Luckily he was subtituted by the Spanish maestro, Xabi Alonso. He produced an excellent display for the Reds and he scored his first goal for Liverpool by a deflection from Diop(who cares?). Igor Biscan also scored his first premiership goal by his second touch of the game. I'm shocked. :excited: A bizzare game. 2-0 down, 4-2 up. The first goal from Liverpool was a bizzare one. What big and unlucky deflection from Knight. Josemi was sent off after a second booking but Liverpool did not let that affect them as they went on to score 2 more goals to seal the win. :D
As for Arsenal, their bubble is going to burst sooner or later. Hopefully it's on 28th of November.

ftlouiea
10-16-2004, 08:03 PM
I guess Diao wasn't so diao then! Sorry, the pun had to be said! The radio commentators were saying how liverpool had lost their last 3 away games, so its nice they won then!

Man U drew at Birmingham. That's annoying.

Arsenal, the thing is... we dont know when the bubble WILL burst. Thats the greatness of it all.

m o n k e e
10-17-2004, 03:29 AM
Yeh i know Keane didnt do it for yellow cards, i was just making the point that he only admitted stuff years after unlike Beckham. He is the type of player who loves asserting his authority and show the opposing midfielder who the man is hahah. He used to be, and prob still is, one of the most feared DM around coz he relished doing the dirty work.

Yeah, im getting sick of seeing Arsenal.. not losing haha, at first it was like, wow wat a run, now its become boring now.. :D tho they play such lovely flowing football..

It looks like Fernando Morientes is heading to Liverpool in the January transfer window. http://liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/dr...041012-1000.htm

Benitez expressed interest in signing the player, and Morientes has expressed an interest in heading to Anfield, since hes not getting much action in Spain. Benitez originally wanted Morientes as a trade with Michael Owen, but Morientes declined, since the then manger of Real promised Morientes first team football. Comacho has since been sacked, and Morientes has been left frustrated on the bench, so good signs for Liverpool.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/3749022.stm

Does anybody play Championship Manager? The new one, Football Manager 2005 is coming out in November, ive played the demo, its looking very good!

sleepin'tom
10-17-2004, 03:45 AM
I would love to see Morientes wearing the sacred red Liverpool jersey. He's a good and proven player. He's 28, currently at his peak. What a waste of talent for making him a bench warmer.

I play Championship Manager too. I've read the reviews, it's quite similar from the previous edition. Since you played the demo, any improvements from the previous edition?

m o n k e e
10-17-2004, 04:20 AM
The idea is basicallythe same, but there are still quite alot of changes.

Theres more media interaction. You can diss or praise teams and mangers, and players are very sensitive to these comments. For instance i dissed Alex Ferguson, saying something like he was past it, and Steven Gerrard reacted positively saying that he felt the same way, while ohters thought i was unprofessional....players lose respect for you especially when you are new, and become easy targets for poaching managers.

The layout takes more time to get used to it, but its much improved tahn b4. You can now swap and change players in the tactics window, which i think is a godsend, considering how annoying it was having to switch back all the time.

When u bid for players, you no longer have to wait 2-3 weeks for a reply, you get one the next day. Rem how many times you wanted to bid for a player just before the transfer window, only to find the dickhead club replies weeks later.

I think transfers are more accurate. in real life, its getting more rare for players being bought for more than 10 mill... so yeh, clubs are more realistic in their demands

Yup Jess. Man u drew 0-0 with Prague yesterday. The absence of Ferdinand and Keane really showed, since Prague were counter-attacking us a lot.

Ronaldo was subbed in at around 79' and really made a difference. But not enough, though his shots could have been a bit more fiery, but he really did "put on his ballet shoes" for some of his runs! :-)

Min. ban for Mutu could be 2 years! Well, if any, it should be more than 9 months, as Ferdinand got that for not turning up.

Bellamy out? I thought he was playing all right at Newcastle? Hmm i don't pay attention to them teams. Where would he move to?

I'd say, maybe, out by Jan.

bellamy...not cos hes playing unwell. according to the geordies at my school and my dad who watched the match, bellamy swore pretty bad at soey after he got substituted...and then later on they were at each others throats shouting and swearing. this was right after souness told his players that he wouldnt tolerate bad behaviour and that he doesnt expect his players to get into the papers for the wrong reasons. and bellamy also claimed to be the best player at utd and thats why he shouldnt have been substituted.

Really bellamy? He's the one with short hair, but now long, right? And no neck :bleh: right? Bellamy seems to have been in a bit of a bad mood. Well, a bit is an understatement. Really? Is she very year 7 like? Aww that would be so cute!

Hmm Bellamy sounds more of a stuck up snob now. It was okay when Bobby didnt have the fire to complain about his temper i guess. I mean, at least have good first impressions! And Bellamy isn't even the greatest player. Its players like Shearer who are patient in their playing, and bring their skills to light at the same time. Those are the best players.

Shut the hell up Bellamy.

Yep shearer is geordie thru and thru.. it is hard to say, i think Shearer's career would have been really incredible had he chosen Man Utd, he would have tasted European success by now im sure of it. Its cool how even at his age can still be so prolific! But i really cant see him anywhere else other than Newcastle.

Ai.. Barcelona lost to Milan!! =P Milan's defence was way too strong... not to mention a crap performance by our fullbacks, Ronaldinho had crap service and was jus outmuscled >.<

Do u think Mutu should recieve the ban of 2 years. One side of the argument is thathe took recreational drugs, so its not like he had advantage... but i guess he brings the game into disrepute, what do yall think?

Whats with Man Utd and not being able to score recently? They r a bit like Real Madrid atm, all that strikepower and hardly any goals... Fergie shouldnt forget abt Smith, he was in scoring touch before Rooney returned.

How come MU continuously get the draw as the final result ? I hope they can put all the guns they have to beat arsenal this Sunday!! gosh..i know that it will be really really hard!!

 Liverpool was held by Deportivo to a slatemate. The worst way to end a football game is without goals. Liverpool dominated the game. Alonso controlled the midfield, Garcia was a nuisance at the left flank and I can go on. Liverpool should have been more clinical. I'm so frustrated because of their liability to convert chances into goals :-x But I still remain optimistc on Rafalution.

As for Mr Mutu, he deserve it. A footballer should not take drugs, alcohol, blah, blah, blah. What a poor role model. :thumbsdo:

Jess: when was shearer dropped?? and ARGH! I really couldn't imagine shearer at OT. That would have been quite weird... but then, if shearer had joined, i wouldn't have found it weird... you know? And I do think Shearer would have been captain if he was at OT.

ManU playing Arsenal on Sunday? Ooh i hope keane and ferdy back for then, Fergie should put Smith and Ronaldo on from the start! Smith was only warming his bum on the bench playing Prague... and Ronaldo played like 10 minutes. I hope Fergie is doing this so he can put them on against Arsenal.

And yeah. Mutu should get the ban. A footballer's essential role is to be a sportsman. Not to be stupid like that. Well, he's going to get it now. He's not going to get any good stuff happen to him now... I mean, look at Gazza.

10-22-2004, 10:47 AM
Sparta Prague isnt exactly the most fearsome side in Europe, so i guess Fergie felt it was necessary to leave Ronaldo and co. out to ensure they remain fresh through out the season. Its not possible to have your best 11 on the pitch every game for any club.. Real didnt do this last season because they had no depth in their squad, and by the end of the season they were getting the runaround by temas they should normally put away. Fergie is lucky he has such depth.

Wow, cant wait for Arsenal vs Man utd!! Arsenal aiming for 50, how fitting (and symbolic) they should have to beat (or draw) against their rivals to get it. Expect yellow and red cards to be dealt out. This confrontation has really overtaken the Liverpool Vs Man Utd rivalry in past seasons as the ultimate clash.

w4t3r_lily - dont belive all the papers say. Most of those rumours came from the same tabloids that bs abt Beckham's affairs.

Liverpool needs Morientes!! buy him now! :D

I don't mind to see him at Anfield but I prefer St.Owen! He's still a quality striker. Proven player in EPL. Many people said he played badly during the last campaign. I agree but he was injured for a few months during winter. He still managed to score 19 goals. If Liverpool bring him back.... "There you go! 20+goals per season striker - guarantee"

Actually Liverpool's 4000th league game was not played at Craven Cottage it was played at OT.

Edit
I've just read this at www.manutd.com
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been charged with serious foul play for his challenge on Ashley Cole on Sunday.

The first half incident saw van Nistelrooy catch Cole on the knee, and the FA have decided to punish the United forward.

Arsene Wenger is also in hot water with football's authorities having been asked to explain his post-match comments, in which he inferred van Nistelrooy was a cheat.

A statement on the FA's website reads: "The FA has today charged Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy with a breach of FA Rule E3 for serious foul play.

"The charge relates to an incident involving Ashley Cole during the match between Manchester United and Arsenal on Sunday, 24 October 2004.

"Van Nistelrooy is required to admit or deny the charge by Tuesday 26 October, with the case scheduled to be heard by a Disciplinary Commission on Thursday 28 October.

"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been asked to explain his post-match comments about van Nistelrooy and referee Mike Riley.

"The FA is also looking into reports of an alleged incident in the tunnel after the match."

OMg..i hope they don't give him bad punishments

The Man Uvs Arsenal games are always very physical, and that was to be expected. I don't like how Van Nistlerooy is getting a ban, but i Think it's worth the 3 match ban, to break Arsenal's unbeaten run. What do u pppl think?

btw. What a great goal by Luis Garcia!!!

sagara0510
10-27-2004, 03:52 AM
i think its nice that the streak is finally broken... but i would have preferred it to be Liverpool to have done the good work and not Man U because now they are above us on the ladder... but its alrite we have one game more than them to play so hopefully we can be higher on the ladder than them soon...

and yes Luis Garcia... he is such a good player... i think Liverpool have recruited alot of talent... and Milan Baros i rate very highly too... still waiting for Cisse to perform to his potential tho..

Liverpool won 3-0 against Millwall. Yeh baby yeh! :-) :D :shifty:
Salif Diao scored the first goal and Milan bagged two goals which will be very good for his confidence. I rate Milan highly too. His work rate and commitment is phenomenal. Garcia... he's a wonderful player. He can play at the left and right flank, behind the strikers and centre forward. Those who said he's the next Kenny Daglish, their brains need be to check. Alonso, the pass master, hailed as the slim Molby by the Kopites. His passing skills is absolutely stupendous. As for Cisse he needs time and I hope Baros-Cisse partnership will blossom.

As for the last match against Charlton, 7-0 win for Liverpool is the minimum acceptable scoreline for me.

Yupyup, Ruudy banned for 3 games. But its not the end of the world, we did well without him last night, and Smithy got his chance to shine. I think he deserved it too, so im glad hes got a punishment to serve, and then people can stop whining about it.. =P

As for Arsenal.. Ashley Cole and his pizza chucking at Fergie.. The tabloids are gonna have a great time covering that saga all week. Wenger has absolutely no right to claim that Fergie cannot discipline his players, when his own take matters too far off the pitch as well as on the pitch =X

ftlouiea
10-28-2004, 01:49 PM
Yeah, Smith seemed to left on the bench a lot, so these 3 games will be a nice time to show what's he's worth. Personally, didnt see the highlights of Ruudy tackling Cole but heard so many tales from MU fans and Arse fans, i guess ruudy in the wrong, if Jess say so.

God, this rivalry is so strong, I mean people who don't normally get violent, did. Shows how much this football business is getting out of hand.

I swear, now that so many referees give too many yellow cards and red cards. That's why so much diving happens nowadays.

Wenger awfully quiet these days, coz Arses aren't totally in the right this time, eh?

Dana - Wenger has been saying a lot - he claims Man Utd shamed football and although he respects the ref and Man Utd, we did not play in the spirit he likes football to be played in.

but blah...Arsenal probably has the worst crime sheet out there when it comes to foul play and tarnishing the image of football. like one of the tabloids said, "they say people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. in arsenal's case, people who throw pizza at rival managers should not whinge about other teams setting a bad example."

so ruud should have been sent off? hes facing the penalty now with a 3 match ban. the ref was unfair? bad luck..thats football. kekeke...49 games and out.. *skips away singsonging*

The only example i can think of right now is the daily express, specific to middle class with conventional attitudes towards sensitive issues. and its true, you flick through the paper and there tends to be negative connotations around articles about things like abortion and IVF.

And we looked through this article in a regional newspaper, about the death of a premature baby. it appeared sympathetic on the surface, but as soon as you went into the analysis, its the most hilarious thing in the world. we were all in hysterics about how judgmental the writer was on the 'first baby for mum of 4 blah blah and dad of 5 blah blah'..but it was still a sad article. kinda. =X

You know, female politicians in Germany actually tried to protest against the ruling that disallowed players taking their shirts off after scoring.. A couple more funny quotes from an email Man Utd sent me:

"We lost a good opportunity to promote English football to the 75 countries watching live on television." - Arsene Wenger reveals the 'real' disappointment at losing to United.

I didn't think the tackle by Jonathan Stted was all too bad, but it caused pretty hefty damage. In today's TIMES paper- the ratings of each of the premiership teams:
Chelsea A-
Arsenal B
Man U C+
Liverpool C

Reasonable, and the article ahd a lot of constructive talking, but too much to type you know? But main thing, concerning MU, of course, is that, MU may be appearing weak, but they are better than their results are showing. Midfielders Kean Giggs and Scholes are a little worn out, and their lack of goals alongside a deficit of goals from striekrs seems devastating for MU.

Man Utd needs to fix its midfield. Sad to say but Keane and Giggs are getting old. Scholes is just past it, he is really ineffectual. Ronaldo is the only real standout. Djemba Djemba is shite, havnt seen too much of Kleberson so i cannot comment, FLetcher and Miller arnt exactly in the same class as the people they are going to replace. They need to get a dominating Defensive Midfielder and a Creative midfielder by next season at least.

English players are extremely overrated, but since the EPL has the most exposure, most ppl think english players are much better than they actually are. I dun think Smith actually scored more than 10 goals a season at Leeds. Rooney has potential, but the asslicking he has had since Euro 04 was a bit premature, he still has a long way to go. So really, for all the hype, Ruud is the only proven star in the forward line.

Arsenal sucks in Europe and excels in Englnad and that says alot about the style of play in England. The EPL is fast and physical affair, but tactically are very mechanical and predictable. Arsene Wenger exposes this very well with his style of short fluent first touch passing. But in Europe they just get stomped out of the match. Arsenal thrives on speed, European teams, especially Spanish and Italian ones, are very good at controlling the tempo of the game so Arsenal tends to suffer when face foreign opposition.

Yeah i'm kinda dissapointed with the draw..we have lots of chances in the first half..but the goal never happened  must be better in the next game!!

Nah I'd rather see Arsenal. Don't hit me for saying this...

Arsenal, though our rivals, really Do play fair and square, with lots of talented guys.

Chelsea are a bunch of faggots who have been bought together by a business deal organised by the world's richest man. Well, one of the world's richest men.

Everybody get ready for Battle of OT part III. :glug:

if newcastle vs chelsea wasnt enough to heat up the carling cup, man utd vs arsenal will. i just hope i'll find time to watch it.

though im sure postmatch refreshments wont involve pizza this time... =P

...and as much as i dislike arsenal, im with dana. at times, they deserve to be top and id rather man utd lost out to a talented team rather than what seems to be more of a corporation. and how much do you wanna slap mourinho.. ><

Mourinho you idiot, do not dare dodge the tomatoes aimed at you. :-x

Jess! How can it be? Why do Arse and MU always, and i mean always, have to be drawn to face each other in the quarter finals? What is with the people who pick those balls. they might actually have magnets that attract MU and arse in the same game, dont you think? And never in the final. Always before. :-x

^just be thankful we've drawn home. *gulp*

hmmm but that man u vs arsenal game should be a good game. and arsenal aren't as invincible as they were last season...

is ruud back from suspension yet??

Is the Carling Cup, the FA Cup? It's all a bit confusing... like UEFA Cup is the European Cup rite?

ruudy has been back from suspension a few games now! only a 3 game ban

Carling Cup is what used to be the Worthington.. =) i think...cos the worthington cups now disappeared. So...going for the quadruple would be the Premiership title, Champions League, FA cup and the Carling Cup. :D

Eeeek..im so excited! Huuuge match tomorrow...im not going to St James for it, but its soo much fun whenever man utd come up north to play newcastle hehehehee. if people thought refs were unfair at OT, nothing compares to the influence and pressure theyre put under by the geordie fans.. =P i love matches at St James hehe...even better when its Man Utd there... :excited:

Like good ol' MU in 99. So did we win the Community shield then too? Or did Arsenal win that?

Highlights tonight... :-)

Giggs is furiated that MU have decided to offer him, classified as the over 30s, a yearly contract, which means his place at MU is not permanent and can depend on his fitness. I think that is rather rude. First they sell Becks, Giggs's mate; then sell Butt, another of Giggs's mates, and now they're maltreating him. He's been at MU since he was 15. Outrage.

that game against crystal palace.. omg they nearly lost that. if it wasn't for 2 penalties taken by baros (if it was owen he'd prob have missed em both), we would have lost that terribly... at least now liverpool are in a position to take 4th place on the ladder and chase everton for 3rd... but they gota keep winning.

You sound as if Liverpool sucked during that match. Liverpool played very well. Xabi and Didi controlled the midfield, Harry best performance of the season and Baros' work rate is absolutely phenomenal. That was Liverpool's 5th win in 6 premiership matches at Anfield. 3 penalties should be awarded to Liverpool because Milan was brought down 3 times in the 18 yard box. Mr Dowie's defenders had no idea how to contain Milan. Milan was accused of his theatrics by the media but he was truly fouled in the box. Maybe the media is jealous of Liverpool's 18 league titles and 4 European Cups
Crystal palace was limited to a few chances and they finished it well. Poor defending from Liverpool I have to say. :wink2:
Josemi sucked against palace, bolton, fulham blah blah blah.... His lack of pace, poor postioning and awareness has cost Liverpool conceded goals in sucession of games. :-x

sagara0510
11-15-2004, 03:03 PM
no no i didn't mean to imply they sucked. i knew they have a lot of skill and talent. but when Palace equalised i was feeling quite devastated. to conceed another draw? i didn't want that to happen. the feeling of relief when baros scored his 3rd goal was amazing...

but like you said. i don't believe they should have conceeded the goals they did. i think liverpool have a fairly solid defence so i am quite disappointed that Palace managed to score twice and were in a position that could potentially win the game.

and the spanish fans were appalling. FIFA had better do something about it cos if you wanna kick racism out of the game, you gotta hit the fans where it hurts.

rooney...i wasnt really paying attention until he shoved that guy into the railings. but he cant have done it for no reason...spain must have done something to have made him that mad. but i dunno who or which side started it.

hai..anyhoos, china won 7-0 yesterday. but are still out cos kuwait beat malaysia 6-1. LOL! thanks cats...thats what my dad thought he heard, but i didnt have anywhere to check..=P S Korea i still dunno about, i think N Koreas through though.

i can't respect your opinion coz im an english girl, and spain were horrid.

i would sure like to see that. monkey face rooney >_< he is too violent and overpriced

i'd like to see that, but it would have been unnecessary in a friendly. Rooney has had too much of the high life and he was disgraceful to England. He needs a lot of words to sort him out... but i reckon "politeness" on the pitch e.g. Owen's attitude can never be taught. :worry:

jess: bleh, i've actually never seen racism like this. Appaling.

Casillas never provoked Rooney, all he could have done is stand in front of the goal, like a goal keeper should? :worry:

But Spanish players were using England's fury to their advantage by diving down everywhere at the slightest touch (or lack of), as well as England not getting the hang of the football. Always pasing to the other team. :rasp:

Only thing I found a bit amusing was Gary Neville's and Reyes's lil feud :shifty:

Has China got through then? Coz i heard HK will not have been able to get through even if they won China, but China needed a large goal difference to get through. Maybe China and HK "fong sui" (let water) so China could get such an amazing result? :wink2:

jessca
11-18-2004, 08:49 PM
^on the contrary lol!! China needed to score 2 more goals than kuwait to go through. even though they won 7-0, they couldnt get the extra one needed (kuwait scored 6). If HK really was gonna throw the game for China properly, they should have let at least one more in.. Or maybe HKs just pants.. ><

i think i would have preferred to watch the asia cup to the friendly last night. it sounded more amusing..

but...Rooney just fired up? :glug: *slaps wrist* haiiii.... T_T

Liverpool truly deserve to win the game. Outclassed arsenal, restricted them to 2 shots. Ironically their first shot was the equaliser. What a bitter pill to shallow. But Liverpool showed the desire and commitment to win the game. They scored the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game.

hahah you guys remember.. i think it was 3 years ago... in FA cup final (or some other cup) liverpool played arsenal. and arsenal led 1-0 for most of the game. and in like 83 minute and 85 minute owen stored goals and the final result was 2-1 l'pool won? that was just pure amazing.

hahah.. for some strange reasons, Arsenal always gets involved in all this 'diving' stuff.. remember the Man Utd VS Arsenal match.. it was so obvious that Rooney(did i remember wrongly.. hhaha..) dived.. but the referee still gave the penalty in favour of the Red Devils.. if you watch the replay of the tackle.. u can see that Campbell pulled back his leg and didnt make much contact wif Rooney.. but Rooney fell as if he was shot by a gun..!! hahaha.. but i really hope stuffs like this don happen so frequently.. really spoils the Beautiful Game.. haha..

dagamezmasta - ooh..i dont remember that one. hehe...the one ill always remember is the Champions Leage Final, Man Utd vs Bayern Munich. We were trailing 1-0 for so long, and Solksjaer and Teddy both scored in extra time to win 2-1. that was pure amazing. ill always remember schmeichael cartwheeling in front of his goal too lol...and then Fergie got knighted. those were the days hehe..i was so proud to be a red devil. especially since newcastle is my hometown, and man utd had a knack of losing to them. ><

diving is a universal problem in the game...if players see an opportunity to go down, they will. its just like how their arms fly up immediately to claim the ball. im not justifying diving in football...maybe its a good thing the players are so competitive?

all this in consistency should all be blamed on the Gerard "Toad" Houllier(sorry if i spelled his name wrongly..) hhaha.. the "toad" made liverpool play so defensively and he not contributed much to the team through buying some un-used players..

I'm not into EPL that much (I'm more to Serie A), but I don't know whether you all have read the news that Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan) has been voted as The 2004 European Fottballer of The Year; receiving The Golden Ball Award. Deco and Ronaldinho both come second and third respectively (Both from Barca aswell). Last year's winner was Pavel Nedved from Juventus.

Last year's winner was Pavel Nedved from Juventus.

hmm.. i agree that Shev is a really good player.. but it though Ronaldinho was very good too.. his influence in Barcelona is really great.. but have to say Shrv really deserves this award.. his goals-to-match ratio is really great in a tough league like the Serie A..

Ronaldinho deserves to be the World Player of the Year.. look at what he has done at Barcelona.. he transformed a team from a under-performin giant in Europe to now one of the teams to beat both in the spanish and champion's league..

Haha... Yes, he has transformed Barcelona, but so has players like Deco, and while we're on the subject of Deco, he brought former team Porto to win the Portuguese league as well as Champions League, don't know why he didn't make it to Top 3 though. Ronaldinho has not won anything with Barcelona, as I recall this is only this second season with Barcelona, and Barcelona is looking very strong. They are one of my favourite teams! BUT the season is not over. Most likely they will win at this point BUT they can still slip and lose. I hope not though.

Thierry Henry was last season's EPL top scorer with Arsenal as unbeaten Champions. Sorry, you may think I'm being biased because I'm obviously an Arsenal fan :bleh: But you can't deny Thierry Henry has contributed to the club more than Ronaldinho has to Barcelona at the moment. What the future holds, we can't predict.

if u wanna talk abt injuries look at Liverpool... they are getting constantly hammered by injury this season.. both their key strikers are out on injury... and they're losing midfielders to injury too... its to their credit and to the coach that they are still in contention to fight for a top 4 placing in the Premiership

nah nah, jason if u wanna talk about injuries, jus talk about Harry Kewell...hes really good. WHEN HES NOT INJURED its soooo...retarded...have u guys heard of the "anfield malaise"? its jus a...well not rumour thing, jus that everytime a good player comes to liverpool, he jus gets injured...hahaha look at Cisse....we all know...yeh jus watch it...as well as...was it Garcia, or Alonso also injured? haha hey Van Nistelrooy will come back, and hes gonna kick some buttocks!! as to why henry is a retard...id also like to add that hes a reHAB..owing to the fact that my best friend, who happens to be a arsenal fan...keeps on dissing Van Nistelrooy..ahaha and when we play Pro Evo Soccer 4, its always Man U vs Arsenal for about 4 matches, with me winning mostly, and Van Nistelrooy scoring spectacular goals, while he says "he could never do that in a real match" well theres my reason.

chelsa
01-26-2005, 01:16 AM
LOL!! Ah... well, I'm not about to argue over whether Van Nistelrooy can score spectacular goals in real life (you know he can't, and Henry can :P). RVN is more of a clinical finisher, doesn't waste any chances and spot-on accurate.

Hey, Arsenal v Man U is this 29th! I am so mad I won't be able to watch the action. Grrrrrrr.........

Joey88
01-27-2005, 11:04 PM
i agree... Ruud is just always there to score goals.... we dont see much spectacular goals from him... mostly first time shots... henry on the other hand can work for goals, we see MANY good goals from him... like running from his own half and scoring or even... a cheeky backheel into the net.

it was very unfortunate Man Utd lost against Chelsea the other night... was a good game. None of the million pound strikers scored which raises thw question.... are they worth the money? :S.

i think arsenal v man utd will be a good game... especially with the fued between the 2 managers which had been going on. wonder if anything will brake out like the community shield match.

Chelsea insist, 'We don't want Rio'

Chelsea today maintained they have no interest in a possible transfer swoop for Rio Ferdinand despite further reports of a meeting with chief executive Peter Kenyon.
The 26-year-old Manchester United centre-back met with Kenyon in a London restaurant last weekend and Blues officials insist the encounter was accidental.

Reports today have suggested the pair spent more time together on the same evening.

Blues officials, however, have again distanced themselves from a possible move for the former Leeds defender.

A statement from Chelsea read: 'As far as Chelsea is concerned our position is completely unchanged. We have made it absolutely clear to Manchester United, on more than one occasion now, that we have no interest in signing Rio Ferdinand and, regardless of where this encounter took place, there is absolutely no significance in Peter Kenyon seeing Rio.

'As already stated, their meeting was purely by chance in a very public place.'

Ferdinand is close to signing a new contract at Old Trafford, according to Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

'I don't think we are far away,' Ferguson said after yesterday's FA Cup semi-final victory over Newcastle.

'We have been having good discussions. It's the same with any discussions, they're not easy.'

Ferdinand has also recently revealed his ambition to one day become the United captain.

His accidental meeting with Kenyon arose as the defender needed to pick up paperwork from his agent Pini Zahavi, who was dining with Kenyon.

Chelsea insist Kenyon's dinner with Zahavi was a long-standing appointment, and Ferdinand's impromptu appearance was purely coincidental.

With the possibility the chance encounter was seen by other diners, Chelsea then contacted Old Trafford officials to make clear how the situation arose.

Chelsea are currently at the centre of a tapping-up row with the Premier League after an alleged illegal approach for Arsenal full-back Ashley Cole.

Cole, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and the club were charged last month over reports they met at the Royal Park Hotel at Lancaster Gate in January.

Chelsea, who are the current Barclays Premiership leaders, have been at the centre of controversy in recent months.

Aside from the Cole saga, Mourinho has also served a two-match touchline ban from UEFA for remarks made about an alleged conversation between referee Anders Frisk and Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard when the teams clashed at the Nou Camp.

Mourinho has not been attending Champions League press conferences and has sent his assistants, such as Baltemar Brito, to face the media.

Despite the controversy, Kenyon insists the club have behaved properly off the pitch this season.

'I think we conduct ourselves in the right manner, we certainly don't view ourselves as above the law,' Kenyon said earlier this season.

'There's so much good stuff going on at Chelsea, on and off the field, and it's sad to talk about this.

'The quicker we get on with the real issues and move forward the better we all are.'

The Blues chief executive held the same post at Old Trafford before he arrived at Stamford Bridge after Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich invested in the club.

yup.. i've heard of this guy.. super fast and skillful.. he is the next best striker to come out after Ronaldo and Ronaldinho and also Adriano.. but he plays more in the wings for Brazil in the World Cup Qualifiers match i watch..

and also Diego, who is currently playing for FC Porto.. he came into the brazilian footballing scene together with Robinho.. anyone heard of him?

and on the topic of the Champions League finals.. i really think it will be a interesting match.. Milan have very good players like Kaka(i watched the replay of the match against PSV and he was great) and also Shev.. their defence is solid too..

but on the other hand.. Liverpool is quite strong too.. with Luis Garcia in goal scoring form in the CL..

Yeah, Diego is like a close friend of Robinho, both grew up together playing football (or soccer LOL).
well maybe Robinho was playing in the wings because its the World Cup Qualyfing..so the team has a lot of good players...that play in the same position..thats why robinho was playing at the wings..looking for spaces..cause the box area was already taken..but in his club..Santos FC..he is a left forward (or striker)

hmm sagara0510.. i suppose you mean Everton were thrashed by Arsenal right? and the score was 7-0.. not 6-0.. :wink2:

and speaking of Everton, i've heard people say that they will be a disgrace to english football if they make it to the CL.. i don't think they can go far in the competition..

look at the Spanish Primera División.. their 4th place is FC Sevilla.. which is a really good team.. and teams like Deportivo La Coruña and Valencia are going to miss the CL next season.. so i think the standard of spanish football is higher than that of english football..

to me in England, only a few teams worthy of being in the CL.. and there are Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea.. and i think Tottenham will be a real force next season too.. they got really great young players.. and Martin Jol is a good coach..

T___T just for the record, it wasnt Scholesy's fault.

we should have sealed one of the gazillion chances we had. we were given 120 minutes for goodness sakes, and we dominated that entire match. it should never have amounted to a penalty shoot-out.

another thing, i couldnt believe it when Viera stepped up to take the last one. i had no idea he could after being sent off =X

jessca, Viera wasn't sent off... it was Reyes. Well he should have been anyway.

And yes it was so sad to see United play so hard to lose it on penalties. The one thing I hate most about penalties is that the one who misses gets the blame. I think poor Scholesy did so much for the team during the game that he shouldn't be blamed. Not like he missed the target like someone in the past *ahembecksahem* They missed so many chances. I guess it mirrors their current season. Hoping that they'll fare better next season.

hmm.. i'm stilll feeling very depressed over the match.. man utd should have emerged as fa cup champions. they deserved to win. but sometimes, even when you are playing your best, you simply need that element of luck to win.

any man utd fans have any views on the glazer takeover? personally, i don't mind glazer taking over the club.. so long as the club can bring back silverware for the coming seasons, i don't see anything wrong with that.. and maybe with the 20 million pounds given by him for each season, we will be able to get some quality players.. =]

ftlouiea
05-22-2005, 02:16 PM
:depresse: Oh well.

Jess: I'm pretty sure it was lil Reyes that got the double yellow -> red card. That's what the little "pop up" graphic thing said. And oh well.

Ankh:  *ehem* Beckham happened to make a mistake. He is our captain, and would lead us all the way, no scapegoat okay!

Aish, we were unlucky. Unlucky. But hey, gotta get on with life!

Stryker7: Glazer's takeover isn't all as you assume it to be. First, the money he used to buy the 75% of the shares pretty much half of that he loaned. So he, himself, is in debt right now.

As a result, (rumours say), he might take Man United Shares off the open market. Then all the small shareholders will be kinda stuffed, coz there'll be no competition of share prices, and they'd sell their shares to Glazer. A no-no. In order to take himself out of debt, Glazer has the right to raise ticket prices and merchandise prices in order to fill the hole, so MU fans are again stuffed.

Basically, MU will be like a business to him. He won't have the extra money for players like Abromavich does for Chelsea.

i watched the FA Cup Finals yesterday and i feel that Arsenal really didn't deserve to win..

Man Utd could have scored lots of goals if not for Ruud Van Nistelrooy lacking his usual sharpness in front of goal.. if he was in his form of last season, he could have scored more than a hat-trick.. and Man Utd would have won the cup by half time..

and speaking of Glazer's takeover, i feel that he is just trying to get Man Utd because he wants to prove to the world that he can do it.. he doesn't even have the financial capabilities to takeover Man Utd and like what ftlouiea said, he himself is in debt.. so i really don't know where to source of money to get players in the close season will come from for Man Utd..

Yup I was also disappointed that Arsenal won especially after Man United dominated the entire game but just fails to put away the chances created. Losing a final is always a bad feeling but one has got to live on with it. After all, there are always losers and winners in a final. Losing by penalties is still all right I guess because I have always believed that a penalty shoot out is the stage when luck plays the important role and sometimes teams are just unlucky. :worry:

Talking about the Malcom Glazer takeover of Man United, I was also worried and afraid that Man United will end up like Leeds. However after reading several reports on the takeover and stuff, I came across someone who was quoted as saying that Malcom Glazer cannot be stupid enough to invest $800 million just to screw it up so I guess we ought to give the guy some time to see what he can bring to Man United.

My friend who is a Leeds fan by the way is predicting that Man United will end up in the Championship like Leeds.

all because of fate? is not about fate, is about team sprit and how well you play. look at chelsea, they won the premeirship after 50 years, not because of fate, but because of team sprit and co-operation.
i think, no matter what year your in, it really depends on the team.

Let's let the pictures speak for themselves:

To be honest, Liverpool was so darn dreadful in the first half. AC deserved a 3 goal lead! But then come the second 45 minutes and Liverpool were a whole new team. 3 goals in 10 minutes? Whoever thought!

And Dudek? His wobbly knees inspired from whats-his-name.

I speak from everybody in the WORLD: That was one of the BEST games... EVER! :bounce:

ftlouiea: Dudek's wobbly legs was inspired by Bruce Grobbelaar.
Liverpool was absolutely horrible in the first half. I pulled my shirt over my head in despair during the break. The first goal totally unsettled milan and that sparked the 6 minutes of frenzy. All the kopites will remember this match forever especially the young ones. :-)

Yup, this is officially the most unbelievable Champions League final ever. I think it even topped the last ditch victory of Man United in 1999. AC Milan was way too good for Liverpool in the 1st half and totally deserved the 3 goal lead. The 3rd goal of AC Milan which was created by that superb pass from Kaka was argubly the best of the lot. To be honest, I was contemplating whether to go back to sleep at halftime as I thought Liverpool had really no way back from a 3 goal deficit. Even the commentator also mentioned that the cup is on its way to Milan. However, I thought there was no harm finishing watching the match. Till now I am still in disbelief as to how AC Milan lost their composure for that fateful 6 mins.

I believed it was the tactical genius of Liverpool's coach Rafael Benitez that saved Liverpool. His changes at halftime lead to the stifling of Kaka who in my opinion is the best player in the first half. However Liverpool's determination and desire also played a part. Or maybe it is work of fate that Liverpool had to win their 5th European Cup?

One point to point out, there was apparently something wrong with the penalty shootout with regards to Dudek actions. Apparently, he came out of his line way before the Milan players took their penalties and I believed that that was against the rules. In fact, he did it 4 times out of 5 and he managed to save 3 of them. Nevertheless, credit must be given to Liverpool for their determination and desire shown to drag the match back from the dead.

gCjs84: Dudek saved 2 not 3, Serginho missed the first kick. Dudek was way off the line when he saved Pirlo's kick, i didn't notice that until i watched the repeat telecast. No protests from milanese were made on Dudek's mistake i assume.

When Liverpool equalised i presume that the cup was destined for Liverpool. Fate must be in red in istanbul. 5th European Cup in 25/05/2005 during 50th final looks good

eh.. a stupidass guy at my school had to tell me the results, even after i warned him not to..because i was downloading the game and was gonna watch it when i had time.. without knowing the results.

man i wish i could've gone by without knowing the results. the game was fantastic, and both sides played superbly, especially liverpool.

but it would've been 5000000000000000000000000 times more fascinating and pulse-driving had i not know the results. as a result of my knowing of the results, at ever goal that was scored, i just smiled sheepishly. i wish i could get revenge on that b!7ch..

but on a more cheerful note, congrats to liverpool!!

and credits to AC Milan too for bringing us such a wonderful match, its almost like a fairytale..

i've been wearing my liverpool shirt everyday since the final...

i've never been so proud to be a Reds fan

and i'm pretty confident they will be allowed to defend their championship next year as well so its all good news!!!!!!!

as with the dudek incident... i know he came off his line at least once...
but his saves were pretty clear so i think even if he was on his line it wouldn't have made a difference...

what do ppl think abt his funny moves wen he was on the line? i heard they've called it the Dudek Shuffle in Liverpool..

Dudek is now the hero for Liverpool but i think the most impressive save was not the penalty saves.. it was the double save from Shevchenko in the dying minutes of extra-time..

that save was almost unbelievable for me.. i just couldn't believe it when i saw the ball not going into goal.. but i've heard rumours that Liverpool are trying to sign Villarreal's 22 year old goalkeeper, Pepe Reina..

read all about the rumour here (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=334363&cc=4716)..

that double save was fantastic
he made a lot of saves in that game actually

he had a really really good game and i don't think there was much he could have done abt the 3 goals milan scored in the first half... it was poor defending not poor goalkeeping

but anyway
it is possible that was his last game for Liverpool
he is one name on a long list of names of players that might be exiting Liverpool next season...

first and formost, i would like to thank liverpool for winning the champions league. i predicted wrong, yes, and i admit it i'm sorry. liverpool played fantastic, especially dudek, brilliant goalkeeper. it just showed how much they really wanted the cup. well, i thought milan was going to win it in the first hand, 3-0 up. then, liverpool come fighting back making the game 3-3. brilliant!!i think that was the best final games in years.
anyway, liverpool, well done, but er, because you only finished 5th in the premiership table, i don't think you are entered for next year champions league?

princessKitty: Yes, Liverpool are not qualified for next year's CL according to their domestic league position :wink2: but, they won the trophy dramatically that gave them the right to appeal to defend their trophy although its Liverpool's. Forever
They had already appeal to UEFA for the entry to the tournament. The decision will be made in june 17 but the UEFA president hinted it will be made earlier. Overwhelming support for Liverpool has mounted pressure on UEFA to give them a chance to defend their trophy. It will be a joke if the champions were not be able to defend their trophy. Common sense must prevail.

this not a question about rights, it is the procedure of how football works. so what if they were champions for the 5th time, they can be champions all they like but they would have to get at least 4th in the premeirship. it is not far for everton if they got kicked out just becasue 'reighning' liverpool has the right instead to enter the champions league jts becasue they won this years one. no, that is not the right way. it is everton rights to enter into the champions league not liverpool.
i am a chelsea fan and if chelsea was in the same position as livepool, i would have still said the same things. so there.

i think liverpool should be given the chance to defend their title. it is only fair. why don't they just have 5 english team in the champions league? plus, how often does this case ever happen before... maybe they should be a lil lenient and let liverpool defend their title.

ohya, i heard gerrard would be leaving liverpool. dunno how true is that. but if he were to leave liverpool.. is there any hope left for liverpool?

anyways, im a man utd fan. hehehe

princessKitty
06-07-2005, 03:27 PM
well, i'm not sure dawnyee, just becasue gerrard is leaving doesn't mean liverpool can't cope.
i mean, look at liverpool now, they have gerrard already. result? 5th in the premiership and an own goal by gerrard himself in the carling cup against chelsea. soooo......
man u fan?i admire man u even though i'm a chelsea fan. i think they are very together and er...yeah.

then again, we cannot underestimate the power of Stevie G *hehehe* he's the one who inspires his team mate with that excellent header during the champions league final.

maybe there is hope in liverpool .. considering morientes is in it and he's good if he's given the chance. guess we'll just have to wait till the next season starts. :wink2:

princessKitty
06-07-2005, 03:39 PM
i don't think you can give ALL praise to steven gerrard. you have to think about the teamates willingly co-operating. it is the players that makes up liverpool. and also rafeal benetiz, he coaches the team so i think he has a part in it to.
look at last year euro 2004 in portugal when beckham missed the penalty against portugal. he may be captain, he may inspire his players but he missed the penalty!!making england getting kicked out of the semi-finals(and also vassell playing a part in missing)
so yes steven gerrard is brilliant but all parise and hard work goes to the WHOLE team.

princessKitty: Everton won't be denied even Liverpool manage to get the entry to CL. Since FA nominated the teams which finished top 4 for the CL. As Liverpool finished in 5th position and won the cup. FA and Liverpool can appeal to UEFA for the 5th representative for England.

dawnyee: I don't think Gerrard is leaving. He said,' How can i leave after a night like this?' He was so happy and he even kissed(mouth to mouth) with Xabi. Negotiations are not going on because all the negotiators are on holiday

sleepin tom, wouldn't that be unfair for the other european teams who has the right to get into the champions league?
i mean, why are people like this, liverpool became 5th and that is a fact whether you like it or not. liverpool can appeal all they like but i think it is unfair and irresponsible of liverpool to act this way. i'm not saying its wrong for them to appeal, that is fine, but just because they are champions doesn't mean they have the right to enter again for next year.
*sign* :?

Unfair and irresponsible? wouldn't UEFA be unfair and irresponsible if they deny the champions to defend their crown? Other teams won't be affected anyway.
they are champions doesn't mean they don't have the right to enter again for next year

Can I just add a general point:

At the end of the day, there are 2 sides which you can side with. Arguing non-stop about it over and over, what's your point?

And just for the record, Liverpool ARE being allowed to defend their hard-earned title. (See here). (http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/news/national/topstory.htm?linkfrom=news__news_home&link=fsFWA_24_1Heading&article=NEWS_video)

Liverpool have to start from scratch to reach the group stages. Liverpool's season starts from 12th of july which is only a month away. There goes their preseason.
Liverpool is not country protected means there are possibilities of facing Everton in the 3rd quali round  Knocking them out is the best possible start of the season

Add on: After Liverpool's CL inclusion was settled, Premier league want a uefa cup spot for manchester city. lol.

princessKitty: true, i have no idea what were you trying to say. U misinterpreted the topic or i misinterpreted ur point? I don't know. :wink2:

i hope you don't see it the wrong way.

lol well about the steven gerrard issue, he is surely a good player and a good skipper, though he't not the very best, but he is a good player. and no, he's not leaving. he's already signed a new contract, from what i've seen on the news.

yes, liverpool are qualified for next year's euro champions league, but they haev to start from round 1 qualifications. haha but it won't get hard till round 3
