two of my friends are just like me, crazy over jay. then one of them sorta likes him but is not obsessed. another one likes two of his songs, and one knows nothing about the music industry. the last two always love to say bad things about jay in front of me. but they listen to jay songs too, so i think that i'm slowly winning them over? but i got them to help me vote for jay in the i-weekly thingy though...

MOST of my Chinese friends like Jay - they like his music but most of them think he's ugly! >=[
I only have one friend that thinks he's as good looking as I do
The rest of my friends are like, Vietnamese and stuff so they don't really listen to Jay.. they're deprived :] One of them said that when his lyrics are translated to English, they are so corny :D which is kind of true I guess.. you don't really get the original meaning.
but yah.. i don't know anyone else in real life who would spend so much time on a forum for him either hehe

some of my friends says that Jay always mumble in his songs... but yet talented.
majority of my friend like his songs and they dont craze for good looking artists... and i'm surprised that they prefer Jay than F4. haha :D
i myself don't like F4. Don't find them good looking either.. and we actually gave them a nickname. "Faggot 4" (Sorry if i offend anyone) :p

haha my anti-F4 fans n i call them that too! :p
niwae back to topic: i'm the only one that's obssessed abt jay in m circle of frenz.. whenever i gush abt him they'll juz go " not again!". i posted lots of his pics in my online journal n they were complaining.. they like his music but juz not crazed fans. though some commented he's ugly! :-x

some of my friends thought that jay was kinda nerdy and unattractive... but then i made them watch alll jay´s cool mv´s and the hongren show... now they think he´s really talented... still havent been able to make them think that he´s hot, but i´m working on it :D

i think jay is the kind of artist whose music just sound better the longer u listen to him....

One of my friend couldn't stand him. She said he couldn't sing. He's mumbling and his music all sound similar. Oh, well.... I don't give a S**T, I still like him anyway, and keep playing his music over n over at my office. And later on, she said she's okay with Jay's songs as long as not the ones where he mumbles.

But then she started protesting about his looks. She said he was ugly and can't understand why I would go to the web looking for his pics. Oh, well.... I guess she was just irritated with me visiting Jay-chou.net so often at the office. :p

living in ny is horrible. 98% of school population has probably never heard of him. 1.25% know about him (mostly through me) and dont care about him. .25 % 'hates' him. and .75% like him/ love him.

isn't that horrible? everytime i mention him, they whine: not againnnnnnn........

but everytime time they mention 'cute shinhwa', hot minwoo, and other krn artists its just fine! thats realli not fair.

maybe its cuz there are more krn music fans. half of them dont even understand what they're saying- they just like the fast beat.

alot of my chinese friends like jay's music, but they can't see how cute he is. my japanese friend says that he's ugly, though she does admit that he is very cool and talented. i've been trying to not talk about jay all the time, cuz people get annoyed and go "i hate jay!" .\ /.

one of my brother's friends is the coolest. he loves jay and wishes he looked like jay and could sing like jay. he always listens to all the little things i tell him about jay. =]

edit: o yeah. one of my white friends took one look at his picture and went "omg he's so hot!!" and she gets all giggly whenever she sees his picture now.

I guess we Jay fans do need a break from those 'gorgeous' hunks from time to time. Especially those who don't even know how to carry a tune. But can we blame them? It's the consumers' fault for choosing looks over talent.

Jay scores in the talent department full time, and now in his looks too. My friends just go "not again" and roll their eys :roll: whenever I mention him. Yeah, they like his songs, and almost everyone knows his lyrics to Shi Jie Mo Ri by heart, but they just don't see what I see in him. Actually, I don't know myself what I see in him. :p

Let's just say it's everything that I see in him!

there r quite a few azns in my skool...but most of them dun listen to azn music dat much (they aint got no azn pryde in them lol) neways..so i brought up bout jay chou n how he's mine lol now half my grade knos im obsessed w/ him! lol well i told my friend n they're like uhh i dunno him..i was like WAT how could u! but @ da same time im like YES he's all mine hahaz :) ...so i showed various pix of jay to them..they said he was bad lookin i was heart borken :-x but of course i stood up for jay i yelled @ them for saying such thing lol..i also told my friend to d/l his songs..n they did..one of my friend said dast his voice was too femanine...i was noo his voicce is so swt when he sings :love: o n also (sorry i feel like im tellin my lyfe story or sumthin n talkin too much) but there's this guy in my grade who i think matches everything to jay perfectly..n my friend told me even HE is better lookin than jay...i was SHocKed :crazy: ! lol jay is waaay better :angel: WE ALL KNO HE IS!!! :hugz:

My school is made up of around 85% asian. Ok, so there's not THAT many of us, but it's hard to remember that there are other cultures in my school. Asians more or less rule. >.>

That said, there are quite a few people who know Jay. My closest friends think he's okay, though they're not particularly fond of him. (They say it's annoying to listen to him because he mumbles) Some of my other friends will agree that his music is good, though they don't find him attractive. Then, there are a choice few who are overly obsessed with him.

It's a mixed bag where I'm at. There are even some people who just look at him and say "Why do you like Jay? He is such a FOB". That... makes me very mad. I don't like it when people make up their mind not to like something just because they think someone is a "fob". That's mean, prejudice and completely unfair.

*shrug* At least, everyone I know who has listened to his music will agree that he is talented.

Most of my friends totally disagree with me on Jay. A few of my AZN friends have heard of him and they tolerate him, but no one with a full blown addiction on him like me.
And the rest of my peeps think i'm wierd, maybe cuz i talk about him way toomuch. They always get annoyed, and they just don't appreciate the wonderfulness that is Jay. So i have no one to chat with about Jay, thank goodness I found this site.
My fiends all think Jay is ugly, so i constantly find myseld defending him, then we get into arguments and drama ensues.
But it's all good, they understand my insanity/love.

i live in sweden. in sweden we don't even get to know half of the things from america, less asia. so my whole jay knowledge is based on the internet and my connection in china. hehehe.

actually i have a few chinese friends. only one that listens to jay tho, kaka, i love u. all the other friends (swedes) don't really understand swedish, but they think jay's music is cool. one girl actually said he was damn cute, when she saw a poster of him in my room. that was the first person who reacted in that way. otherwise people always think he's not that good looking. i didn't tho. i love him the first time i saw him. :D

im a lot like linny in that my school's mostly asian... seriously, about 60%... which is how i got hooked on jay in the first place cuz a lot of ppl i know from my school put his lyrics in their profiles or song titles under "currently playing."

my guess is that almost everyone in our school has heard about jay chou, including the white ppl. in fact, for his "the one" concert in vegas, a LOT of ppl from my school went. i saw about 20 ppl there who either attended my school or had graduated recently, and there were plenty more that went but i didnt see.

also, whenever i say that i like him, ppl either call jay or myself a fob. but considering that my school has a lot of fobs who actually proudly identify themselves w/ that term, its not really derogatory... i just don't understand why music that we like must be in english and not in another language.

First, I'm glad someone else comes from a school that is predominantly Asian. It's really quite scary how many Asian faces you see in the school. (Even many of the people who look Caucasian are actually half Asian.)

Second, I too discovered Jay through people I know in school. Not that many people actually knew of him, but enough of them to get me interested.

Third, a LOT of people at my school went to his "The One" concert in Las Vegas too. My friend actually offered to sell me tickets, but I wasn't that familiar with him at the time, so I declined. Yah, I'm still kicking myself in the butt for that.

Fourth, I am very happy to see that the term fob isn't derogatory at a school. :) Unfortunately for me, quite a few people at my school still use it as an insult. It's just wrong... especially since half of the Asian population in my school ARE fobs and a lot of them are really great people. Many of my closest friends and favorite people are, technically, "fresh off the boat" so I don't like people using the term in a negative way.

Just wanted to post that. I'm glad that my friends don't clobber me when I talk about Jay. They give me the "politely interested" look and just laugh at me for being so amazed by him. At least, they don't get annoyed with me for mentioning his name.

Well my chinese frenz...they have thier own opinions...some of them like Jay coz of his talents and songs. Oh yah...my chinese guy frenz dun like Jay coz they said he doesn't know how to sing basically he mumbles. And I always tell them that they are jealous. haha. my sister's laugh at me because i like listening to jay's music. i don't see what the big deal is, but they all think i'm obsessed with him. which i'm not. sure he's really talented, and hot (haha), but listening to a lot of songs from one guy doesn't mean i'm being obsessive. ahaha it was really funny though cuz my mom was mentioning something about him but i didn't know what she was talking about, so she started singing the chorus of "long juan feng" and THEN i knew who she was talking about. yep.

well.. my friends are also in love with Jay.. maybe not as obsessed as me, but they do like his songs and all. it's such a good thing to find friends with similar tastes to myself because it brings us better in common. i have not had trouble with my friends about them not knowing Jay. well... maybe a few, but that's just because they're not into chinese artists.

I think that i should influence more of my friends into listening to Jay... but that would take a lot of work because some don't even understand chinese much!

some of friends listen to jay, and he likes it. but most of my friends don't listen to jay and i wanted to get them into him. but they only like enlgish music. so only 4 of my friends like jay and his music.

of course i have some "Jay" friends, those who likes Jay.... but they are my friends whom i met online.. so they're expected to really know and like Jay.

but for my school friends who are not so much into chinese music, well... they get to like Jay when i intro him to them... they get to appreciate his music.... but they don't like him the same way as i do. maybe not just their cup of tea.

I have all of my friends around me to be Jay's fans. Hahaha....

We are so close to each other because we have something in common. Me and my friends in a group have been a big fans of him where we have been buying all Jay's album and been to his concert.

So wonderful to have this group of friends... :wink2:

(Majority of my friends, cause their are some that hate him...but let's not talk about them cause they are exluded as non-fans of Jay Chou's, so it doesn't matter! lol) Well everyone cannot wait for the anticipated 6th album release after Qi Li Xiang hit the streets a year+ ago.

well, most of my fwends dont listen to chinese music...they like green day, good charlotte, simple plan ect. theres the ocassional few that listen to chinese music but they like canton/hongkong things like edison boyz and twins and stuff. But I've been getting my fwend (who loves boyz) to try out Jay's music and she reckons he's really talented and his music is good. she likes simple love and nunchucks and she reckons she's becoming a jay fan...haha! im sooo hapy! :happy:

For me, even the people who listen mainly to rock music and whatever else still know who he is. Many of us, including non-Chinese (or non-mandarin) speaking people, can sing at least one of his songs fairly decently.
Needless to say, my friends who know him like him quite a bit.

Most of my friends heard of him and they are basically divided into 2 groups. One group will be the fans of him and listen to his songs 24/7. The other group will be the casual listeners and those who heard of his songs and like his songs but are not that crazy over him. So far, I have yet to really know anybody who hated Jay. All of my friends agree that his songs are nice.

Some of my female friends can be very crazy about jay. they do not just listen to jay all the time but get so excited each time they see jay, on magazine, TV etc. Male friends are generally calmer. We dont shriek every time we see jay's face. :laughing:

On the overall, my friends have quite good impression of Jay and i think i do not have any anti-jay friends, although there are alot who do listen to jay but not everytime. I will say they are neutral-jay..

As far as I am concerned, I am the only guy amongst my friends who is a real Jay geek. Well, at least I don't scream like the gals at the very mention of his name, I just love his musical talents and his charismatic personality. But I still sing along at all his concerts though.. =)

As for my friends (the girls), sometimes I wonder do they like Jay's music or his looks! Hahaz...

I think the only person in my circle of friends who hates Jay is my boyfriend, and that's because he's jealous that I love Jay. LOL~

i think none of my friends have given jay a serious listen, but they just all dislike him because they think he's not hot. if they do listen, i'm sure they'd all love him too. i was actually introduced to jay and intrigued to find out more about him because i kept hearing from my friends that he was ugly. i didn't think he was ugly. so thus began my jay love...:D

1. Jay is talented
2. Jay needs to give more smile
3. What can make Jay happy? It seems that he has bad mood all the time! ( yeah u know... )
4. Jay's songs are really really cool and creative
5. Jay is smart
6. Jay is not good-looking, but he is cool

and when I listen to Jay's songs, my mom keeps saying, "Arrgh.. what kind of song is this?"

i have 3 groups of friends related to this topic, the first group don't like him, when they listen to jay, they will ask me is he singing or mumbling.
the second group like his ballads songs, but not others, like rap, hiphop, or Rnb.
the third group just crazy about jay, although there're only 2 people in this group.

most of my friends usually listen to english songs, but they do know who jay is. i introduced one of them to jay's songs and eventually she became quite a fan too. another friend thinks that he's not good looking and thus doesn't bother about him. others think that he's talented and his songs are not bad but they don't really like him as they call his singing as 'mumbling'.

A lot of my friends don't even know who Jay is! I have a couple of fellow Chinese friends who listen to his music, but that's about it. They think he's not very good looking but his music is great. The only thing that makes him look really cool is his haircut and fancy clothes, haha. But his talent outshines his looks.

My parents juust think i'm going through a 'Phase' and that i'm chasing stars :) I don't think my parents will listen to his stuff though, though part of Jay's stuff is romantic and slow and my dad likes that stuff.

As for my friends, some think he's great, some doesn't like him much and some (because i live in australia) haven't even heard of him until i started talking about him

My friends hate my music, unfortunately. One of them especially tries to make me feel bad for liking Chinese music...augh. It's so, incredibly annoying, because it's not like anything he says will make me stop listening to it...because I need to listen to my music, lol. So I just listen with my headphones on.
Some of my other friends are apathetic, and a couple enjoy it. Sad, huh? I wish more of my friends liked Jay.

I'm the only chinese guy, and but there is one taiwan kid but he thinks hes hard to understand. when my "white" friends heard a couple of his songs, they thought he was a "flamin' douche bag" mainly they think he sucks. but thats alright, i dont really care what they say. and still think hes a talented singer

for those of my friends who know who is jay chou, they think he isnt their most favorite since *cough* their reason is that he's not that goodlookin and not so clear on the singing , even jay's music a bit diff from other chinese music. but it is okay i dont mind, their opinions are what make us different from each other hehe.
