"The dynamic movie that revolves around a poor but earnest person called Ting (Panom Yeerum) that is loaded with the formidable secrets of a deadly Thai Boxing style and the comic book like villain Don (Petchtai Wongkamlao) who steals part of a precious Buddha statue from the protagonist 's reverred village temple. What follows is a breathtaking confrontation of good versus evil packed with superbly choreographed fighting scenes and action sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way!" yes asia.

I like it. I just don't care about all those religious stuffs. The action parts are awesome. But in real life, where would you find such an honest and skilled guy?
yeah... that's why we have the movies to watch those guys for Vun. Honestly, I didn't really get the whole religious stuff, maybe because I didn't like it. Anyways, sometimes I just found the chasing scenes and fighting scenes a bit prolong that it gets boring

The best scene was the one where he first went into the fighting ring and KO that burly guy with just one kick. I mean, it was hilarious.
LOL... I don't even believe in god, but it was kinda cool how he got a sudden surge of power at the end when he looked into the buddha's face!

same here... that was just random to me... like "I have seen the light" sort of moment by looking at Buddha's face. Overrall, the movie is pretty good compare to most thai movies (sorry, but I find most thai movies plot very predictable and filled with bad acting but good looking people)

Wow! Nice to see that this Thai film is being watched and though not fully impressed with , but I'm glad people in other side of the World watch this movie from my small country.
I watched this movie too cos my bf wants to see the fighting part. I have to accept that the storyline is crap, and Ting is not attractive at all, but we have to praise him for keeping and preserving those ancient Thai boxing skills. In real life he has been seriously trained for 6-7 years cos he always wanted to b a stunt man. And in making of this movie, the director said that sling, or any helping equipments weren't used cos Ting had been trained hard and could do it all by himself like jumping on the wall and cross the fence etc. I think they showed it at Cannes Fes in France as well.
Maisee, I agree witg you that most Thai movies are filled with good looking ppl( except Ting, Ong Bark ) and not realistic acting. I think some silly directors are concern with the look than the actings, that's why Thai movies and soaps are not quite popular among city Thai ppl nowdays, those crappy things tend to sell the up country ppl.
But a film called " Fan Chan" ( My girlfriend ) was good fun. It was so popular in Thailand. The story is about a guy who had to go back to his own home in a small town outside Bangkok to his old friend's wedding. Along the road, he popped in an old 80's Thai song that was popular when he was a small child, and that song brings back his fun and memorable childhood and puppy love memories. I enjoy it, but though you are not Thai, I think it can be just as fun.

ooh gah, that girl annoyed me. She could barely act and I don't know... maybe it was the bad dubbing that just puts the annoying voice in my head, but I didn't like her general.
I do like her shirts though :excited:

jtayk: Why are you posting those pix here? :? You're going off topic!
Anyhow, yeah, omg... those jumps are fantabulous! :excited:
Maybe this can be changed into "thai movies" in general? I doubt there will be alot of comments on just one movie in general.

Well... at least we should wait until we hear from the original poster. It's kinda rude to just change people's threads when they haven't even broken any forum rules.
yeah, that's true.
so anyways, back to the movie. I wonder how that dude got the role though? Usually thai directors select like hot looking guys, but in a way, even though he wasn't hot or anything, he did bring out the image of what the character should have look like =]

I don't think his character was supposed to be hot. Otherwise it'd be such a waste for him to become a monk!

Sorry about going off topic. But I agree that it should be changed to Thai films so that we have something new to talk about. Btw, the Fan Chan film is great fun, I like it. LOL
vunsin, you even remember that he become a monk at the end!! Hair can grow , don't worry. He is not hot with or without hair anyway. lOL
Maisee, I think that guy has the perfect skills for it though he hasn't got the hot look, and the director is probably more concern with the acting than the look which is ok for me.

Please respect the original poster. We can't just change threads as we please.
Anyhow, I just watched the movie recently, so I remember most things.

oh :) thanks u guys  for respectin me, hehe. okay i changed the title of this thread, couldn't think of other way to name it.
but anway more of my opinion of the movie. hehe. well i got the movie, though it had subtitles which the english translation was so terrible, didn't made any sense, even the subtitles got it wrong when the english speakin guy was speakin.
the only part i liked was the chasing part, which was kool, man, can that dude jump, pretty good, got his own stlye, like the next jackie chan, lol. :wink2:
but really, i just fast forward rest of it and watched any fightin parts.hehe
oh yeah, the only part of fightin i didn't like much is the part when he had to fight like three guys at that club/fightin :nunchuks: place. epecially that last one, the one who keep throwin stuff at him, i mean he was the one started the fight against him, he should't goin places and throwin stufff like a :tomato: chicken  instead of hittin back, no wonder he lost, hehe. :wink2:

Yeah, the English subtitle isn't 100% meaning of the speches. I guess they chosed a silly guy to do the translation. But after the launch of that Ong Bak film, I hardly see Ting on any other films or commercials, don't know what he's up to. Maybe working with foreign films or being a stunt man.
zhy378, have you seen Fanchan, another Thai film I posted. It was good fun or do u prefer the fighting ones??

jtayk, nope haven't seen it, but it sounds cute and good, hehe, guess that would be put on my list of movies to buy. hehe :wink2:
ohh there's new movie, i heard is suppose to be better than ong bak, hehe. here's the info on it.
Born to fight is actually a remake of an old 1986 Thai movie which was in fact the first movie Panna Rittikrai directed and starred in. Action scenes have been promised to be ever bigger, better and more spectacular than Ong-Bak. The movie comes out July 30th in thailand. Official Movie Site: www.borntofightmovie.com

This is the first Thai movie I watched, and it reall impress me. I begin to doubt Chinese Martial arts after that. Tony (main actor) was really fast and furious. When he hit someone, sure there will be sounds like 'creaking' and cracking of bones, turning joints, etc. Gross, and entertaining.
