i'm so pissed! i show them a few pics of jay and they conclude he is ARROGANT! maybe it was the pics... [blue panasonic ab/body pic and the money pic. also sum from hui dao gu chu]
he doesn't smile in those pics so they say he has ATTITUDE PROBLEMS! so mad.
i had to compile a HUGE list of his quotes and other stuff to prove he is modest and shy before they said so. maybe cuz i was being too talkitive[lyk now] :roll:
has anyone else had this problem? any easier ways to solve it. ... or maybe we could just talk about his facial expressions in pics

It's impossible to convince everyone of how great Jay is. I gave up a while ago. Most people I've met love him so.. all good.
My sister's guy friend listened to him in the car and said that "Geez if Simon (American Idol) heard his voice he'd be belching out bad remarks all day". o_O Well I think his voice is great!
Also, a lot of guys don't smile for pictures. They think it's like a sign of weakness, or smiling is gay, or I dunno. Some guy clarify..?

yah, :wink: ...some people think of Jay like that sometimes, and some people just think that he's the 'trying to be cool' kind of guy, but hey, just because he doesn't smile at everything and at every picture it doesn't really prove the person he is, but as humans, we're all judgemental when it comes to others, and first impressions serve a big part as how we see and think of someone. the thing is, silent people who don't talk a lot, and aren't very active, people see them as rude and has attitude problems, because they don't seem 'friendly' in there perspective, not that they were intentionally trying to be rude.
blah, not at all. He's really nice, not the least stuck up. If he was arrogant he wouldn't ahve invited me to go to Universal Studios. Why would he want anything to do with some kid? and the way he talks isn't any bit stuck up.

cuz if i don't smile i have this natural frown...its kinda wierd > <
but i think that if Jay is considered to be an attitude-problematic person...then most if not all the celebrities should be seeking anger management help

Hey dudett09, i think u shouldn't bother too much abt what other pple who don't know jay and his music have to say abt him. I mean, if they wanna conclude his personality from a few pictures then so be it. It's their loss really, and u should save your energy for more worthy causes.
cici_bebe is right, it's hard to convince pple how great he is. It's something u jus have to discover for yourself thru his music. i mean i've heard this so many times from people when they see his picture: "viv, who that ugly guy?" I wouldn't get too riled up, i mean, everyone's entitled to their own ignorant opinions, so I really don't see the need to make them think he's cute, or doesn't have an attitude problem, or not stuck-up.

but this caucasian girl and her boyfriend that sits behind me in one of my lectures saw the GD75 'half-naked' Jay pic *droooling* and she said: "who's that guy? he looks kinda hot...!" her boyfriend said: "pretty good body for an Asian singer"
i was kinda surprised to hear that, but their comment made my day!

jay is great..and we know it..why bother convincing someone who doesn't WANT to appreciate jay just by looks? he has so many good qualities that your friend probably would dream of having, so don't care what other people think, as long as you know that jay is diao enough for you!
To each his/her own, I say. When people try to agitate me by telling me how irritating/attitude Jay is, I just smile and say : Talk to the hand. And walk away, refusing to partake in the discussion.
It's a free world and everyone's entitled to their own opinions, likes and dislikes. So to all you younger fans out there *ahem* who get agitated or angry when others diss Jay, all I can say is, live and let live. It's THEIR loss :roll:

i admit that before i became a fan of jay, i didn't think he was that good looking, mostly because he doesn't smile. i also hate it when people come to conclusions by just looking at someone's picture, but sometimes people can't help it- it's the impression they get. don't worry about it. if your friends listened to his music and saw his SMILEY pictures or something they'd regret saying he was arrogant.
that's most probably because he doesnt smile. a lot of people dont smile in pics and that always give across an impression. i smile in pics, even though i think its gay, just so i wouldnt look arrogant.
but jay is just so naturally cool, and that might come across as arrogance to others

hey me too....i hav the same problem .....i dont know why these ppl just concluded that jay is a person with attitude problem and not low profile and always act cool.....they just think that he is some jerk who is talented and thinks highly of himself......its sad to hear bad remarks like these especially when we know that its absolutely not true. ive got this classmate who dislike jay a lot......she thinks he looks terrible......and is iritating.....i dont know how to make her change her mind. i just got to let her think the way she want it.....they are just stubborn. just because he doesnt smile a lot and it a quiet person ,that doesnt mean that he is 'action' or unfriendly.......many pple had this impression on jay. but the truth is that......we all know he such a shy guy.....so down to earth and does not openly thinks that he is some musical talent......no offense but nic tse is the kinda singer /songwriter with a little bit of talent and thought that he is the greatest of all.......the way he speak and his attitude......is what i think 'arrogant'! sorry to those who are his fans here........

People always need a "conclusion" even to things they don't understand. Humans in general don't like to leave things unanswered. (Hence, we search for answers to EVERYTHING in this world). so, since they don't know anything about Jay, they just *have* to come to a conclusion whether bad or good.
Anyways, they're the ones missing out!

well, i think that all famous and rich people are arrogant and stuck up. thats always my first impression. But then when i learn more stuff about them, i think they're better (like jay). But then again they could just be acting nice and stuff just for publicity...

I think he doesn't smile all the time partly cos he's not the kind who always wants to please everybody? I think pple like F4 etc. like to pander to the audience, but Jay is different he's just like himself.. in a way it's nice cos it's really special when you see him smile!

I dont really care what other people say about Jay. Sure at first Id get all fired up and be all pissed and stuff but by the end of the day, their opinion dont matter. I love Jay. Hes a great artist, has a very wonderful voice, really hot body, extremely cute dimples when he occasionally smiles, and an enormous talent as a songwriter and performer. On top of that, with all those supreme qualities, hes still very modest and down to earth. I dont care what other people say, I love Jay and I will always will.

u would think that they would be thanking me for introducing them to the wonderful jay but all they do in return is insult jay with stupid remarks

yeah, i dunno how you can instantly 'know' someone's personality just by looking at a picture of them. haha anyway, it's not like jay has to walk around all day with a huge grin plastered on his face just for all the photographers.
haha dun worry i get that too from my family and frenz.. they will juz ask me y i like jay so much n comment abt "dunno wat he's singing(due to mumbling)", "eyes so small and look so ugly" and stuff lidat... admit that sometimes it's quite infuriating to have ppl criticising ur idol.. i do try to change their opinion but not always successful. i still like him as much as eva though..^^
i dun think jay is arrogant at all. instead, i actually think tt he's cute n innocent whenever he "tries to be cool". because he is jus so not arrogant. he's just like a next door boy.
That's not arrogant lah... just that he can't express himself in a natural way. He is shy by nature.. and the media always give him stress and pressure by asking sensitive questions... that makes him feel uncomfortable and he will naturally react in another way. Maybe that's the "arrogant" people are talking about? just a wild guess! :)

when see a pic of jay, the first word that pops into my mind is "musician." in otherwords, everything else aside from writing, producing music or doing a live performace is just extra publicity. for all we know, he may hate taking 1000s of pictures but is forced to do so.
besides, there's no rule that says that you have to smile. open up some modelling magazines.... lots of models don't smile either... are they all arrogant with attitude problems? no...!
but i have noticed that in a lot of the pics taken with him and someone else, he tends to smile more often.

A lot of people I know also thinks that Jay has a bit of an attitude problem. I suppose they do have a point. Hes shy, quiet and because we're all cantonese, we only ever see him on TV during cantonese award ceremonys...meaning he'll seem very lost and not at all at ease. Obviously, we rarely see him smile on Tv and doesnt say much at all..he sings and then goes off stage.
But once you're a fan, you notice the little things and you realise straight away that hes not really like that. It just shows that his music is so good that it can make potential fans overcome their prejudices about him to buy his music. Once they have his cds and read about what hes been doing...you then know that hes a great guy. :happy:

how can you judge if someone's arrogant just from a picture? they're definitely judging a book by its cover. bleh. anyway arent his pics all commercial pics? hence, you cant judge his true character from these pics. but yes, i often get people telling me that though his songs are nice, you can never understand what he's mumbling. bleh. it's his STYLE, why cant they see??

I heard from my friend who's in Taiwan.....she has a friend that always plays basketball at the same court as Jay. He has been playing there for like a long time, without knowing it was the same court Jay goes to.
So, they played a couple times together because they both just happened to be there.
He said that Jay isn't that good at basketball, but he's not bad. (how can you compare? Jay doesn't get to practice 24 hours a day)
He also said that Jay is quite arrogant. (don't beat me up for saying this, this is what i heard)

Me too I'm the only terribly obsessed Jay fanatic in my school...though a lots of other people really like his music, but none are more crazier than me.....but Angel (can I call you that for now or you can tell me your name) you can come here and get crazy with us about jay.....

I think fame and fortune will surely change someone abit if not alot. Many ppl say that Jay is just shy and quiet, and that's why he is misunderstood to be arrogant. I believe that maybe true. But to say he is totally oblivious to the amount of attention on him and is always the shy quiet guy, is being quite naive. Jay is still human, and i think he also may at times be a bit arrogant. This may have been directed at friends. So out comes the rumours. :? But if its really so, we cant really blame him right? He is still human and I think he's really nice~ Sho those ppl should give him a break~
Sho don't think too highly or lowly of him! Love him for the great music maker he is.. :)

hes not arrogant and he has no attitude probs. He was very well bred by his mom and grandma when he was young. he's not arrogant. he's more of telling what he thinks.

I'm not offended by this my friends though the same but it's their opinion and it's only after they listen to Jay's music and get into him that they more or less change their opinon. Everything is calucated to first impressions but even first impressions can change. anyways in photos artists are told which way to pose.

When i was challenged to a rap challenge i had to learn Jay's song, and i realised his pronounciation is not bad, not mumbling at all, when i saw the lyrics...
Its just his weird style that make others think he is mumbling, so i started liking jay after that, i guess some people have the same first impression as i do *Shrugs*

well is he isnt arrogant, thats for sure and everyone has an attitude. jay does too but he doesnt have a problem. ive heard that jay was giving attitude when he found out he had to take pictures with edison, rain, etc during a pepsi photoshot, he had an annoyed face almost the whole time.

i think all the fame and such that jay has, he deserves it.
he did work hard for it.
he does write his own lyrics and he does compose too.
i dont mind someone being proud and high about their own work.

that must be a very funny experience. i dont know how to solve it. but just explaine to them that is Jay style and he is not looking arrogant but Jay is looking cooolll... :rolleyes:
if your friend keep saying that Jay is arrogant simply said that you can't enjoy because Jay is famous. :wink2:

Hmm... I've heard about these things before yeah... nah, I don't think he's arrogant. Jay has this kinda dreamy eyes sometimes and when he stares sideways, it's like he looked like an arrogant kid. But seriously, Jay has dreamy eyes, so what?! Don't judge a book by it's cover lolz...
then there are people saying that he's arrogant and doesn't wan tot participate in game shows/interviews anymore to promote his album or whatever coz he's JAY CHOU (super famous n all. "People will buy my album even though I don't participate in those things" (that's what those guys think Jay's saying). Piece of crap! He seldom parcipates in those things coz he's busy doing other stuff... Acting etc. He really doesn't deserve to be a so-called arrogant person. No way! sheesh... pissed :dry:

wow ... for my opinion, i didnt think so, maybe just jay look arrogant but he is so nice and nice to his fans ~ actually he is looking cool by all the time, maybe the people cant see it through as they are not jay fan, but indeed it is a fact, a idol look arrogant is totally not acceptable ~

I think Jay is totally awesome. I would probably cop an attitude too if the papparazzi kept asking me questions like they ask him when he is just trying to chill out or do his thing. I never thought of him being arrogant. My friends think that he is cute and likes the way he sings. Plus plus for them. I think maybe people are a little hateful and just don't really get that Jay is Jay and he is a great artist to be admired.

I think he is just shy. I think some people look at me and think I am arrogant, just because I don't have so many facial expressions and get a bit obsessive. If I don't make eye contact, people think I'm not listening, when I really am. It's hard for people to really know who you are, especially when they only see a few short clips on the news, as well as concert DVDs and movies. Jay says he is like a different person on the stage, and I suspect he's really shy when he isn't on the stage singing or working on a movie.
