interesting, huh? there must've been someone that we were drooling over before we 'met' Jay.

for me, i enjoyed r&b music but was not crazy over any particular solo singer. but i was a little crazy about malaysia's local r&b group called Innuendo (3 suave guys) and i quite liked indonesia's GIGI (also a group).

but knowing jay changed me into a fanatic! :excited: first, i got myself fantasy. :excited: then i bought jay :excited: . then i had to own 8d :excited: (jo gave me good reviews last week) and finally yesterday, i bought fantasy +. :excited: :D
i've never spent money like this before. i may just sneak out and buy the one after this.

back to the topic, i think i had to 'dump' tony leung, to make space in my heart for jay. :love:

well, before i even liked anything Close to jay, i used to like N'Sync...now i shudder as i hear that name..lol, but before Jay i used to be an F4 craze...and for a while i was an Edison Chen fan...not that i've ditched them now, just absolutely no obsession..i mean, Jay just made me open my eyes to a Real music world, well, it's not like i don't like any other people aside from Jay...but i did manage to ditch those obsessions and stay loyal to Jay... :D but Jay can't be everything in a person's life..or else that'd be quite sad...

before Jay...for a period of time i listened to both Mandarin and English...but English songs mostly...especially metal and hard rock

also pop...and even goth rock, believe it or not (only one band though, Nightwish)

and now after Jay i don't like english songs that much anymore...i reverted back to Mandarin/Cantonese/Taiwanese songs...

although i still listen to Trance, New Age and Classical

A long time ago, all I listened to was American music. That was it! Celine Dion, Nsync, Christina Aguilera. Before Jay, I listened to Gigi Leung, Ekin Cheung, and Sammi. I listened to a lot of Hong Kong singers, because they were really popular at the time. Now Jay! All hail Jay. Hehe. He came in the big picture, and now I'm crazy over him! Don't know how to describe my emotions, I was so happy when he came out. I mean, he's something new. A new flavor. I feel even more proud of my culture because the music totally kicks butt! Jay for example, has won many awards, also the first singer in two years to perform his concert in different countries, and have 40,000 people stand and watch him at 'The One' concert in Taiwan! Yes, I dumped Aaron Kwok and Won Bin (funny how I'm a combination of Vivien and beach gurl) for Jay. I've always liked pretty boys which makes it even harder for my friends to believe that I'm so obsessed w/Jay. uhm..i didn't really dump anyone for Jay. i was listening to nothing but techno for years. i dumped Garbage for techno. and have since dumped the whole techno scene for Jay. i'm shocked at my own turnaround. quite a big change for me, as i'm not particularly interested in commercial music, and i used to make sniffy comments about HK/Taiwan singers. other than admiring Faye Wong, i basically had a very biased attitude towards chinese singers (not the classics, like Teresa Teng, or veterans like Leslie Cheung). but Jay really helped broaden my perspective.

Jingle sounds a bit like me. I used to love F4 so much (since I watched Liu Xing Hua Yuan). I bought all their albums, and I totally love them for their looks. But I like Zai Zai's voice.

After I found Jay, I know what a real music is all about. And I am amazed by Jay's talent of making music. I also read some news and nosy facts about Jay, and I think he is more DIAO than any of F4 members.

I still like them, but it's like this comparison: Jay = 80% and F4(Zai Zai) = 20%.

I am quite selective and singular when it comes to obsessing over a famous person. I wasn't obsessive when I first started listening to Jielun's music; in fact, it took me over a year to go completely nuts over him (eg. scribble his lyrics on tables in every classroom I have lessons in, writing his name all over my lecture notes, things like that), despite attending his The One concert in January. I really have no idea why I suddenly became so fond of him, but yep, I am.

Before him, there was this lovely, amazing American actor named Joaquin Phoenix, whom I still think is one of the most beautiful man I've ever seen. It also helped that he's a really nice guy, what with his veganism and all, and needless to say, he's a top-notch actor (I wouldn't go crazy over talentless people lah). But that obsession waned after a while and then I went mad over Slam Dunk. Even fell in love with Mitsui Hisashi.

So yes, the 'person' I 'dumped' for Jielun is actually Mitsui Hisashi. :laughing: You guys may find it strange that I can be obsessive over a manga character but this is something that only those who've been through it would understand. He becomes so real that you actually suspend your disbelief for an even longer period of time, and then you write fanfics, which makes him even more real, and sooner or later, he simply becomes a real person in your head.

Luckily I'm crazy over Jielun though, or I'll continue believing that Hisashi and I can one day be together. :laughing:

Lol this is a pretty creative topic... I didn't DUMP anyone. Jay just came along and grew on me and STAYED 'cause he puts out quality stuff. I used to love Chang Zhen Yue and Nicholas Tse... still do though. Basically I stick with whoever continues to put out quality stuff. And Jay has done it for 4 albums and 2 EPs in a row! Go Jay!

Hmm.. can see that lots love edison too.. :love: I'm one of them :happy: but when jay came, edi sorta went out of the picture.I was so crazy over edi when he first started out, mainly because of his looks, bought all his movies, 2 cds and posters... Stopped buying after 2 cds simply cuz his songs are not that great..
And there weren't any forums of edi in the past and so hardly knew his news..

But jay has a great forum where i can get his latest news..And his songs melt my heart :blush: so sorta forgot about edi.. His posters are still on my wall but Jay has occupied most of my heart(and room), leaving only a little bit for edi :laughing:

i know that the popular asian songs now have western influences (just like jay, for example, who's influenced by some western r&b artists like usher, if im not mistaken) but for some reason....i like 'em better asian style. maybe it's my asian pride? :? but then again, even with some western influence, i still think jay chou is incomparable. i would choose him over any western artist any day :happy:

GOOD QUESTION.... who did I dump........ I dumped VIC for him.... believe me..... I use to be an obsess fan of Vic...... I write fanfics about him, wallpapers (around 150 +) and pictures (500+) of him...... I would spend like I dunno how many hours to create wallpapers of Vic with the help of Adobe photoshop..... then gradually....... I listen more and more to Jay Chou from the cd I burned from my fd........ first..... I asked my fd to get me Ye Hui Mei cd for my b-day....... then bought Concert vcd (the fake one)..... then I realized....... I am NOT satisfy with the fake items of Jay......!!! I bought the real live Concert cds and Partner Cd on the same day, then 8th Dimension, then EP, then Fantasy...... the most recent one, Fantasy+(in different day ofcourse.... I think the lady that works in teh cd shop recognize me as the girl that only buys Jay cds)........ I killed my allowance on Jay.... not to mention buyin' the movie Hidden Track, just because Jay's in it......!!! The only cd I am missin' from my Jay collection is the first cd...... my eyes are on that cd...... soon...... I'll own that !!!

Jay is takin' up a lot of my time..... I think I am too obsess....

I liked Jay even before I knew of F4. But when Meteor Garden was shown in Philippine television, I kinda liked F4 seriously. So I would say that I dumped F4. My 2 other F4 fanatic friends are still soooo into F4 up to now. But me, I told them proudly that I love Jay Chou more than ever. Coz I've learned to appreciate Chinese music because of him. I'm with you, jieLuNzz_86, the only thing different is that I am not Chinese and I don't undersatnd Chinese. Before I know Jay I am soooo into English language music like Atomic Kitten, The Bluetones, Britney, Savage Garden, and stuff like that and though I am not Chinese, I have heard some Chinese music and thought that they are soo weird, and the singing style is so :bigyuck: out of this world and the music is :crazy: . I don't even listen to Thai music as all I like was the English language music. I think it wasn't because of the lyrics, but I just love the western music's melody and all the nice combinations of different music instruments that old Thai and Chinese music didn't have.

But when I heard Jay's Grandfather's Tea I was like :? . This kind of music is so unique, though I don't understand what it says, but the melody is just right. Oriental music, traditional Chinese music mix with western music, piano and cello and stuff :yeah: so great. From then on , I was touched by Jay's music and I am more open to all kinds of music as Jay's music has every kind of music influence in it already. And now I am also listening to F4, and Wang Lee Hom and I think that Chinese music is not so bad afterall. Thanks for Jay to help open up my ears to World music. :happy:

Before I use to be so obsessed with him because he was so goodlooking and I liked his music because it was mostly rap/hip hop stuff (back then I still liked all the American bands and singers). Dude! I also dumped all american music for Jay. I was really into rock and rap and hip hop and I liked Backstreet boys and some other stupid singers. But after listening to Jay's music, American Music was outta my life! All I did was buy Jay albums and wait patiently for each one..

Jay's music is pretty much the only music I listen to now; at home, in the car, at school, anywhere, and I have stopped listening to American music although my computer and iPod are still filled with it. Before Jay I hated music, especially Asian music because at the time he came out it was the entire "looks over talent" thing so when I first saw his Fantasy album I thought "He's not even good looking. He must sing bad too". It was after listening to Dad I'm Back I started to like him alot since that was a song I could relate to strongly. In short, it was Jay who turned me back towards music and introduced me to other great artists such as FIR and so forth.


Personal life wise, I have this strange habit that whenever I am single or falling out of love with someone I will be majorly obsessed with Jay. It is evident in my Stats, I joined in 2005, then I got a bf late 2005 so I stopped coming on, few months later I got bored of him so I came back to Jay and started posting again, then started dating again and then fell out of love again, etc. I'm still in a good relationship now but because recently I had "dumped" another forum board so I decided to post more here. ^^
