[PC/PS/Xbox] Final Fantasy X-2 Is OUT! Who's got it?

I'm ordering this game in a few days. There are two versions, the Asian Version and the Japan Version. The Japan version, of course, is like 30 bucks more expensive than the Asian Version. Is the Asian Version legit? What's the difference between the Asian Version and the Japanese Version? Does anyone have this game yet? If so, please tell me what you know about the Asian Version vs. the Japan Version. I don't want to get ripped off!!

I get to double post because I'm answering my own question.
(Since none of you people play VIDEO GAMES!) how depressing!

Anyway,

I got the game and I love it. I love the new battle system, although at times it gets a little bit messy. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine get new dress spheres which lets them change their clothing as well as their magic and fighting abilities. Like FFX sphere grid, you can choose along which lines you want to develop your character into. Magic User, Thief, or just Power (Warrior) among others.

I love this game! But I wonder if I can get other characters or these are the only three? So far it seems like I'll be stuck with these characters the entire game. I wonder if there's no guys? Also, I heard the ending is sad or something... and you have to finish 100% of the game to see the ending. Tidus better be in it a lot or else!!

Another sad ending? The ending for the first FF X was sad enough. I want to get it but I guess I have to wait until it comes out in California ... with the bad dubbed voices. :oops:

The game looks really cool from what I saw of it. I even downloaded one of the songs Yuna sings in the game. Sounds nice.

It is definately not a tomb raider type game. You don't do action fighting or anything unless you get an enemy. Completely not Tomb Raider style. The fighting style within the game is different, however.

Compared to FFX, I'd say it's much more light hearted. However, since I think Tidus is HOT HOT HOT I so far like the first one better because I get to control him. In X-2. I only get to see Tidus in Yuna's dreams and hallucinations or whatnot.

Yes, so far the characters are all girls. I'd actually like to play a guy and see how HE changes in the dress up sequences, but oh well. I am not sure if there are secret characters in the game, but so far I haven't come across any and I'm doubting that there will be. I suppose Square thought that the changes in outfits would more than make up for other characters.

Well, Square is somewhat in a financial rut. Actually, this depends on your question... do you mean they are using women and their bodies to sell more games, or are you asking if they are using the popularity of Final Fantasy X to make a spin-off sequel? I suppose its the first question but I'm not sure.

I always knew enix and square were rivals...they were 'the' rpg companies...the only collaboration was 'chrono trigger' (cool game :)) and chrono cross...

Well the great thing about FF is that you don't have to play the previous ones to understand the story. They're all independent of each other...maybe a little reference here and there. But you can still enjoy them no matter what order you play them in. Every story and characters are different, even the movie had nothing to do with previous games (I think, I didn't see it so I'm not sure)

But I love FF, I bought a Playstation 2 just to play FFX. :oops:

What I mean is, due to heavy loss from the unsuccessful theatrical release of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Square was at a financial disadvantage. Their weakness in this area led to other companies' desire to acquire them. Microsoft tried to buy Square, but was denied. (Thank GOD). Because Square did not have the money and was in a financial setback, they had to find a way to get themselves out of this situation. Enix was their rival in the RPG/gaming industry, and since they are a better suitor compared to Microsft, Square and Enix decided to merge. I'm not sure if Enix first proposed it to Square or not. However, had Square not merged with Enix, Microsoft or some other wealthy company could have forcefully purchased Square by either buying out their stock or buy using other aquisition tactics. It's better to merge with another company who has similiar visions rather than succumb to a suitor who has been known to be aggressive and unrelenting with monopolies in mind all the time.

You didn't have to understand the story until now! FFX-2 is the first time Square has ever attempted a sequel to a FF title. So far, it's great and I love it. It seems like it would be pretty hard to play FFX-2 without having played the first one. Actually, I don't know anyone who has played FFX-2 without FFX. I guess it's an unspoken rule among the gaming community... or at least a rule with people who really love Square and FF!

Karen, I also bought a playstation for playing FF7. I used to watch my friend play FF2 ALL DAY back when it was on Nintendo. I've been playing games ever since I was 5 or so. I also bought a SECOND playstation for FFVIII since my brother was hogging it and I wanted to play it so bad. So yeah... I have 5 playstations... :oops: I had to save so much money...!!

I'm not much for playing video games, but they are cool. And Final Fantasy games have some of the best music out there for video games; not just simple melodies, but nice complez harmonies that compliment and enhance the game-playing.

I really liked Kingdom Hearts. I imported that one as well. I thought the Square and Disney thing was very nicely put together. Of course, if you're an FF fan, you noticed all the little references they had in there about the Final Fantasy series. Cloud and Sephiroth were awesome...!

I watched my brother play a bunch of the FF games and he has a bunch of the soundtracks as well. For my brithday he also got me some of the piano scores...much fun. But the graphics and music are really awesome.

I also watched my brother play KH (yeah, I can't play...no shame!) and I thought it was great! We got to see the special ending and the preview for the next KH game. The import version has extra stuff right?

I think the import version has the same stuff the American ones have.

First Japan came out with Kingdom Hearts, and then the US got it too with added stuff, and then Japan came out with Kingdom Hearts, Final Mix, which has all the new stuff the US one has. Unfortunately, usually the US games get more added characters and bugs fixed, but that's because they get it later. I don't really care, because I like to get the game as soon as it comes out. I hate waiting.

Karen, yeah, Rikku looks kind of different in X-2, more caucasian. Her clothes are very very... seductive as well. Anyways, the whole entire game reminds me of a Charlie's Angel mission type deal. It's definately not as deep as the other FFs, this one is REALLY lighthearted. I liked the way Rikku looked in the first one too. I'm always in for more Asian stuff. You'd think Japan (full of Asians) would make their role models ASIAN, you know what I mean? (well, theres a really long explanation for why they do that but anyway). Yuna and Paine and everyone in that game looks white. Tidas even has blond hair. >=[ I wouldn't mind if he had brown hair and more asian eyes... but oh well. He's still sexy.

At least all the Chinese computer games still use Chinese history and Chinese looking characters.

Right now I'm still doing side quests with YuRiPa. haha. They get kind of tiresome, but I do like the outfit changes and for that sole reason I want to beat 100% of the game. It seems impossible though, because there's all these secrets that I dont know yet. Since you've played the game, how was the ending for you? Was it nicely done? You dont have to spoil it, just tell me what if it satisfied you after spending all those hours on the game.

and you can fight extra people...specifically 'unknown' who carries two keyblades....

so what do you mean by changing thier clothing? you just get a shpere...use it in the grid.....and when you return to playing mode they have differnt outfits? why? what is the point in something like that?

i mean in a games like Street Fighter and Tekken the costume changes are nessisary to keep the game looking different, but in a RPG you dont have to sit and look at the same thing the whole time. everything changes around the charater. so why bother?

sigh, chun li is so insistant that it is a bad game. I was really looking forward to this game to. starting to think I shouldn't buy it when it comes out in the US.

Although....there is not much to be expentant of such a game, considering it is made simply to please the fans demand for more of this story. This is the first time ever FF has branched a story longer. I think FFXI and FFXII will be much better though. I've heard good things about FFXI already. Tried to get the beta testing for that...but didnt get picked =/

Well, the game is okay. Finding the dress spheres and leveling them up is fun. What is not fun is the sidequests. I usually love sidequests, but because this game is soooooo "short" they had to add all these sidequests in there. It's like a sandwich... you've gotta add more stuff to it for it to taste good.

Without the sidequests, I could have beaten the game in 15 hours. I mean, sometimes you have to go on forced sidequests about people I couldn't give a crap about... but oh well. Changing their clothes is fun, though after awhile you decide which is the useful dress spheres and don't even touch the other ones.

I couldn't help but not post after seeing what Sagara has mentioned in the PS2 topic and of course this FFX-2 thread.

I am the FF fan he was talking about. Whatever is possible in an FF game, i most possibly have done it.

FFX-2 however is a bit awkward for me. I still do not understand the language totally. I understand it bit by bit. However, i don't want to ruin the storyline just yet. Hence, i wouldn't be playing it until the Nov release.

I read mixed reviews about this game, and i have tried the mission one of the first intro. It is pretty allright. Albeit upbeat. I would want to beat the game just to get the storyline and of course the ending chapter to this FF saga.

FFX left me pissed off after playing it, so i was hoping that this would be a nice closing for me.

Hopefully, i would have some fun with it.

The story is sooo short. They just added a bunch of stuff in the middle. There is a lot of talking in this one and also a lot of voices. That's probably why the translation is taking so long. Maybe at least 60% of the people you see in there has a voice.
The ending was okay. Blah. You can't even use Tidas. THAT sucked.

I finally played it this winter break!
I played it twice and only got 99%.
But yeah, I have to agree with Chun Li, it doesn't live up to the first one.
What I hate most is that the story itself, if you played it straight thru, takes only like 5 hrs (!!), it's all those stupid side quests that makes it long.

The sidequests were stupid too, but man, nothing compares to that damn chocobo dodging game in FFX. :retard:

I was really disappointed with what they did to Lulu, she was pregnant! They could've at least changed her outfit. Any poor baby would've been freaked out.

And I liked Rikku alot more this time, she had a cute bubbly personality, not to mention her voice was done by the same lady who does Bubbles' voice for Power Puff Girls.

Call me crazy, but I had a crush on Baralai :shy:

i thought that the game was the first to be non-linear

that's why there are so many sidequests

cos the squenix-europe is touting it as the first sequel and non-linear game in the final fantasy series

ive got it and i beat it. it had good game play and the main characters were girls, which i like, the stories not all about just a guy this time. for some reason... rikku seems to level up the fastest and i dont know why. i train each of them indivdually until their at the same level with the same abilities learned. then i let em train together, but rikku still levels up faster. and i to think tidus is HOT HOT HOT! way to cute! wish he were real! but i do like ff x better. it was kinda sad that there were so little movie cutscences. plus, in ff x i didnt have to wait to attack, i could attack on the spot. still, it was good but not that great. i ahd to play it twice to get 100% though. and it was pretty short. but FF X hands down!
