This is another movie that I cannot wait to see other than Harry Potter 3. It's from the producers of Independence Day, so I'm pretty sure it's really good and with good effects.

It's already out in theatres and I'm just wondering if anyone has seen it yet....and if so, was it really good?

It seems like the movie industry always pulls this....either a few months with no "really good" movies .....and then a few months jam packed with awesome movies......ahhh....that could leave us all broke by just going to movies!!

Jingle... get ur butt out of ur house and go to the closest movie theater to you!!!!!!!! I saw it when it came out last friday (in the USA) and it was so good!!!

Even Dennis Quaid looked hot! Ok, ignore Dennis Quaid but after watching this movie, made me think a lot of the small daily things I take for granted you know! And I hate the winter in Minnesota, but OMG... the movie puts in a new perspective as to what COLD means.

But lols.... if this ever happened *like I told many people in this forum* make sure to strike a pretty pose when the cold hits you... cause you'll freeze instantly *according to the move*... just think: 10,000 years from now, Aliens discover you and put u in their museum, at least you died looking good eh? :brows:

I watched it last Saturday. It was really good  I was so "awake" during the whole movie.I mean the whole time my heart was saying "run, quickly run".There was one part where it involved the wolves..wowww..that was very scary.
Msv,I agree with ya.Dennis Quaid looked really hot in the movie. And the guy who plays his son,Sam..Jake Gylenhaal,i used to think he looked like a nerd, but after watching the movie,i thought he was kinda good looking  My friend in is in love with Jake now, lol.
To those who havent watched it,u should though coz it was really good. With a good story,a bunch of good looking casts, there's no harm watching it right.Hmmm...i might going to watch it for the second time :brows: he he...

Spicy, come and visit me, then we can all go out together and watch it . BaybeeD, when did you see it, you sure didn't invite me to the theater *bleehh*.

Anyways, I saw the preview and the special effects was in truth far-fetched. It looks so real and up-close, I want to go see it, but I barely have anytime on my hands. I hope the world doesn't end up being like that otherwise I will be wetting my pants.

I saw it. It's an ok movie, pretty average but it was interesting and i enjoyed it. But the only think i didn't like was without giving too much away was the ending of the movies it was too aburpt. Stopped way to suddenly. THe effects were um...lets say crap. Well i didn't really believe it. But good movie. I suggest you see it.

haha i was watching the previews here are what i have concluded

1) there are TOO many natural disater, the world is gonna blow up movies...this is no different...they just have all the natural disaters

2) the story is impossible...if this happened every 10,000 years...and is as devasting as it is...the human race would have been extinct 10,000 years ago...1 million woulda made more sense... -_-;;

3) if something like this was ever gonna happen, ie snow in New Delhi would only happen in 2 cases...the earth is on longer on its axis or has changed its position in the sun's orbit...esentially...bb all humans...or a el nino like effect =P

ok yea...so...this nerd says...looks dumb =P

erm.. jian dan ai... i think the movie is all about natural disasters and so yeah... it's gotta go for a period of time or else the movie will be short and ppl won't like it.... so yeah... i kinda liked the movie so yeah.. or you could also say that my expectation isnt too much but it's pretty good..... i wonder why people got frozen though..... it cant be THAT cold... neways movies like TROY or etc are much more worth watching

Just watch it yesterday. Lol, I don't think Indonesian like it, only 1/3rd of the theatre was filled.
The son - Jake ? is handsome, really love his eyes, and Dennis Quaid doesn't look as old as I expected . The effect is good and keep you awake, gosh instant freeze is scary, I wouldn't complain on the heat so much from now on.
Despite the machineries etc, it's somewhat lacking scientific credentiality and the "family" and "lovey-dovey" parts are sooo cheesy.

I really had fun when we reach "the American refugees passing Rio Grande to enter Mexico", muahahaha, joke of the day !. Too bad the president look more like Al Gore, if it look more like George Bush, he will accuse God for conspiracy with Al Quaeda.

Learnings from it : live in the south / tropics and learn those "survival know how" like : reading compass, making fire, and breaking into somebody's property (to get the food, medicine and fire making materials ?)

Ratings : Not bad, entertaining, but don't expect too much and don't get too scientific.

i watched it a week ago. i wasn't expecting much of the movie, after all it is ANOTHER "the end of the world" movie... but it was quite exciting, when i was watching, it kinda made me feel colder...haha..phsychological effect i guess... :D its not bad but its no great. a movie just to ur time. but it did made me think, the rate in which the earth is being polluted, maybe a natural disaster could occur!! scary....
oh, and what kept me alert in the movie was Jake..huahaua... he was actualy cute in the movie...

Yup. Enjoyed it too.. :) Its not only the special effects but its how u sacrifice urself in order to save other ppl and also.. how u convey ur feelings to someone before its too late.. ^_^ in all sorts of relationships.. scares me when u know time is running out and u know u may not survive the ordeal..

i'd personally say that the special effects were the only thing that the movie could brag about. everything else was just like thank you for the show... not too hot. i was sorta bored. a lot of it didn't really make much sense, in my opinion. just wasn't overall that great a movie unless your all hipped about cgi.

Actually, I wouldn't have gone to see this if my boyfriend hadn't asked me to go see it with him. The cinema was packed - it had just come out - and I was really expecting it to be crap. Seriously, these kinda movies aren't my cup of tea.

But surprisingly, it was really, really good. Honest. I liked the storyline, though we all know it's very predictable, and there's just the right mixture of genre's to make it interesting.

The one part that had me holding my breathe was when the water was coming in from the ocean and flooding Manhattan. My God, how good was that? I got shivers.

I thought the thing with the wolves was slightly dumb though. As if three teenagers could win out against (how many) hungry wolves.

The romance between Moira(?) and Sam puts a touching factor to it all, a softer emotion. I mean, I'd fall in love with any guy was willing to put himself at risk to save me. Aaawww..

But yeah, very good I thought. 7 & 1/2 stars/ 10 stars.

Thanks for everyone's comments about the movie, but the day I went to the theatre, I chose Troy over The Day After Tomorrow. I heard the beginning of The Day After Tomorrow just sucks you into the movie, but the ending isn't that great. Oh well, I will probably go see it next week

well..... the ice-age didn't last forever you know? :shifty: and lets see, natural disasters don't last forever on their own account too right? So for the movie to end, this has to end or else you could sit in the theatre for 6 hours straight seeing New York getting trashed

Well, I do agree that some things were just really absurd, especially at how fast the earth was dawning to a new-ice age and like throughout the whole movie, the weather was supposedly so cold that you would freeze if you step outside.... so, what I don't get is why didn't Dennis Quaid's face froze when he took off the mask :?

.... :) but i still like it, lets me think about things when i'm on a road trip

When the salt level to the sea or ocean became uneven it caused the that imbalance which interrupted the flow of nature but eventually that caused all the disasters in the movie and I guess by the end, it became balance again.

You can also see it as a way in which they're showing that humans are destroying the earth faster than they can handle. Well, not every ending turns out to be what we like, but what can we do? we didnt' make the movie right? :wink2:

....... I think there was also a petition for the movie to get banned cause it was controversial too. :excited:

There was a petition to ban that movie??hello??who is that guy/girl who thought of that idea...

I thought that was a great movie..to teach humans not to destroy the earth....

let's say you were those big companies that sell cars that pollute the world, or you're those people that cut down trees for money or let's say you dump stuff into the ocean for your own purposes AND not to mention that you need people to buy your stuff BUT your stuff destroys and harms the environment.

So -------> by banning this movie, more ignorance in the consumers' minds and thus more $$$$$ :wink2:

the show was quite cool....but not alot of climax though....the part where the wolves came out was quite weird and it was only a short part....so quite strange.....the plot's not smooth....everything just came out suddenly.....but i like the part where the pple froze immediately....and the part they were running away from the freezing thingy.....

The day after tomorrow definately is a good movie.. great special effects. When I first heard about it.. I thought it was going to be another "Deep Impact". When I saw the commercial for Deep Impact.. it looked good... if you wanted to see special effects.. you could have just watched the commercial because it showed it all.. there wasn't much really.

TDAT has not just great computerised special effects, but has a good storyline to it also. It has emotional content. Not only are they trying to survive.. but the father is trying to find his son who he neglected because of his work.

Overall its a top movie.. I cannot wait for Garfield, The Mask 2, and Spiderman 2 to come out.. :bleh: :excited:

The movie's name is a mouthful. But sure provokes thoughts in those who are concern over the Earth, survival and other important things in life, like loved ones.

There was a rapid warming (kinda reminds me of the movie: Ice Age 2, the Meltdown), ice melts, water level raises. Governments has limited power, they can't do anything against it. There are all sorts of natural disasters. Anything one of those could kill anyone. When it happens, you will see how small our powers are, as compared to natural disasters. (I can tell that some natural disasters are indirectly caused by human activities.)

You can see people's true colours in the flim. When the city floods, everyone runs away. Only a few will save the others. Friends will encourage each other, cry for each other. Fear strikes everywhere. People will do anything to live. (If you are thinking of killing yourself, oh, forget it. See how much these people want to live.)

Its very terrifiying but happy in the end. Worth watching.
