i'll be definitely catching it sometime this weekend tho!!! i loved the book when it was first released, i hope the movie lives up to the standards...!!!!
but its a little strange for me to fit harry back into the innocent (kinda) 13 year old boy now that i've read goblet of fire and order of phoenix.....
but still, i'm looking forward to it :)

*sigh* So do I...After reading the Order I kinda feel like killing my image of him before...Coz I kinda hated him in the 3rd but of course, all vanished when I learnt that he was actually the one who gave him the Firebolt...hehe....Geez...It's gonna open on theatres tomorrow and for sure, the moviehouses will be full  *sigh*But I'm gonna watch it on sunday and I'm gonna buy some freebies after! Haha...so excited :excited: !!!!!

I saw it last night! :excited: But you have no idea how hard it was to get 5 tickets.
It came out the day before, and its a public holiday so all the kids were off school. They were showing it every half hour and we have 2 huge cinemas in the area. We initially turned up for the 5:15 showing, but we couldnt watch it till 8:25. We literally queued for tickets for one showing, and when we got to the till, it sold out. They were selling out in 5 minutes :glug: I didnt even want to see Harry Potter that badly, but all the hype just made me more determined to get tickets lol...People were even queuing to get into the screen.
Im not really a big fan of Harry Potter, so im not very familiar with the books, but my little brother and sister were complaining about the film after... i wasnt taking much notice. I didnt think it was bad, and its certainly more darker than the first 2. But i was watching it as a movie offhand, i dont know enough about the books... =P

i have to wait till next thursday too. but i guess it's okay. i know the books well but not a fan of the movies, simply coz they're not as good as the books. but as a fan, you've got to watch the movies  plus i love Ron!!!
have you guys seen some of the interviews with the main characters? his hair is pretty long now and along with his t-shirt and jeans, he looks like he belongs in a band!

Me too! Now it's back to the Sirius the Betrayer in the movie.
Anyway, im watching it tomorrow! at 12.40pm. Can't wait! :excited: Azkaban is my favourite book and i can't wait to see in on the big screens. One thing though, the dementors weren't like what i had pictured them to be. In the book, it was said they were the hooded figures but it seemed more to the creepy long fingers in the movie. -shrugs- gonna clarify it myself tmr.. :D

I didnt think it was bad, and its certainly more darker than the first 2. But i was watching it as a movie offhand, i dont know enough about the books... =P
they changed the director for this one... i think the people playing the characters, some, dont live up what i imagine them to be... e.g. sirius and lupin... this movie made them so old and unattractive... somehow in my mind... i always imagined sirius to be good looking, but just a bit tired... and HERMOINE! they've made her alright looking now! she shoulod remain geeky like before, so we could actually see the change when she dates that quidditch guy in book 4! but anyway, this film is supposed to be better than the last 2... very scary too!
p.s. daniel radcliffe goes to city of london private boys school in london
p.p.s. here's a picture of the girl that is to play cho chang... somehow they didnt include her in book 3... i remember she did make a little appearance in book 3?! :?

I saw it..... and I love it!!!
Among the series, the third one is my favorite.... I really like the darker sense of the movie, because this installment is dark.... because Harry Potter is growing up, and getting to know more about the darker side of life, about the circumstances of his parents' death, and because Peter Pettigrew, the Betrayer (aka Ron's Scabbie) has escaped and we know that with his escape, worse things will be in the horizon....
But somehow, during the movie, I got the feeling that is was really in the fast forward mode..... a lot of things were like so condensed, things were running along before I could relate it to the book....
But during the movie, I really didn't like the way a lot of things were not given due explanation.... like the map, the movie did not explain who had created the map, and how did Professor Lupin know exactly how to 'unlock' the map to reveal the secrets....and the friendship between Sirius, Lupin, James (Potter) and Peter....and no one explained why when Harry Potter did the Patrona's chamr, why did a stag appear? (In the book, it was explained that that was because the animal Jame Potter often took form was a stag)
And in the movie, Sirius gave Harry the Firebolt only after they had met and after the finale.... other then that, the movie followed pretty closely to what the book was, well, whatever sections the director had chosen, anyway.....
The dementors were really scary!!! I would imagine that was exactly what the dementors should be in the book!!!! I am going to re-read the book again, then I am going to see the movie again!!!!!!
Oh, did I tell you Daniel Radcliffe is so cute!?!?!?! :excited:
*rush off to dig book out from storage*

somehow in my mind... i always imagined sirius to be good looking, but just a bit tired
yeah, he is meant to be good looking...well in his youth anyways. the book does mention that detail.
about cho chang, i can understand why she didn't appear in the 3rd movie. her role in the book wasn't very significant at all....from memory, she was always just someone harry saw in the corridors of the castle, or at the quidditch games....so there wasn't any point in introducing her character so soon.
thanx for the pic lain lang! they look like an old couple.... and i can just see Rupert chopped off, next to Emma.
and thanx for the low down macdawn! i'm glad you didn't give too much away...

This part I like Ronn more than Harry. he's very funny.
But Lupin is not like my immagination.{ How about yours? }

Hmm, i duno why but i got the sudden vision of Jay being sirius.
Anyway, Ron is so cute! But he dint have much lines and appearances in this movie. I love the face he always made when he was speechless about something.
And Radcliffe! Boy, i think he look so much better with those round specs. He look like an old man without them. As for Emma, i think she is beautiful. Oh, that's Cho?! She's definitely pretty!! Hmm.. :hmm:
Macdawn: I agree with you! I was like? Huh? Since when this scene appeared? Weird where's that sence where they told Harry the story. And weirder. How did Hermoine and Ron knew he was at the leaky cauldron. And the Knight bus, weren't there hot chocolate? Haha. But i loved the way the showed how the Dementors sucked the joy out of everything. Cool effect!

I really liked the part where Harry keep bumping right against the window of the Knight Bus when bus stopped suddenly.... and the bus driver
Jay as Sirius??? :hmm: Can imagin Jay slashing the canvas of the Fat Lady? Nope, that's too dark!!!
Oh, I just saw the guy who acted as Sirius in a media interview, without his grime makeup, he didn't look so bad after all! And Emma Thompson, I tried and tried and really couldn't recognise her in the movie....
I really like the atmosphere in this movie, especially parts like when Harry stood behind the clock, looking forlornly at the people going to Hogsmead.... and the people at the cinema kept laughin cos Prof Lupin kept saying, "Eat this, it'll make you feel better...."
Oops, did I reveal too much? Sorry. :shy: the movie is just way too good for me to contain myself!

man, harry and the gang are like so big now.. the first time i saw them in the first movie, they were like only ten years old or something?? man.. i remember tom felton was just a little kid when i first saw him in anna and the king.. now he's grown a LOT!! and cuter!! :wink2:
eh..the movie wasn't as good as the first one, for a finale. i much prefer the finale to the lord of the rings. in my opinion. :)

Well, since we would see a different Jay in Initial D, maybe Jay gonna do something as violent as that! Haha.. Actually, i meant the part that sounded like Jay was that Sirius look quite tired looking? :hmm:
... cos Prof Lupin kept saying, "Eat this, it'll make you feel better...."
Yea yea! That's what happen in the cinema i was at too! The friend i went to watch with was horrible. She laughed and laughed so much! Even at scenes whereby NO ONE was laughing and she was laughing like some lunatic. :glug:

I watched it yesterday, sat on the third row from the front bacuse the theatre was bloody packed and I come to a conclusion that this movie is scary  . It's the dementers i'm telling you... sucking out all happiness from me... they reminded me of the Black Riders from LOTR....
In several scenes, my friends and I actually jumped out of our seats and she actually covers her eyes when Harry is fighting the dementers near the lake and during the Quidditch match...
But I think this is the best HP movie so far as it has a much more mature settings. But I still think the best way to watch this movie is for the non-HP book readers, coz it's full of suspense and quite tricky to comprehend. Daniel Radcliffe is soooo cute, and Emma Watson has turn into quite a beauty.... they're all so big now.... *sigh*
my fave scene is when Harry rode the Hypogriffe over the lake, beautiful scene... the river reminded me of LOTR...

I watched it yesterday since it's 12.58 am here now. Anyway, I like the whole movie. A lot of the parts are hilarious examples.. Draco's scenes, Lupin's and the Ron's.. They were really funny.. but at the same time.. the movie is quite spooky.. oH what am i saying.. It could scare a 4 years old and make them nightmares for days.. Draco is really realyl cute int he movie.. Emma is turning into a beauty [duh..!!] but at the same time a better actress. So is Daniel. I don't mean they aren't last time just that they improved alot.
Oh ya bout the picture which Emma and Dan was holding hands. The press said that it was just for a moment. Nothing good yet.
I am definitley looking forward to this movie because the 3rd book has always been my favorite out of the 5. I think I might go and watch it with my friends tomorrow. I wanted to avoid the crowds for the first 2 days but hey, 3rd day is always fine right? :wink2:

macdawn....be careful there girl....you are about 10 years older than daniel you know....
hehe...well i like rupert more coz in my opinion he's a better actor. i love his quirky facial expressions! plus his character is much more likeable and funny....and, i started to dislike harry in the 5th book....but that's another story....
btw, i feel really ripped off! :-x i live in australia, and i found out yesterday that HP3 had already opened in Tasmania (one of our states) a week ago!!! just because the schools over there were on holidays, while the rest of aust has to wait till next week! no fair!

welll, just saw it...he... the movie is totally different from the other 2. Well, i had not read the books, not even one..but i seen all the movies...the movie seems to suspense you early in the movies...then abruptly it the whole movie ended..it's kinda too short as the time frame only a few days...well i do miss ron cause he's out in the 2nd jalf of the movie...someone says that emma has a bf in the 4th book...but from the earlier movies, i thought that she and Ron like each other..how o? then outside the movie, Daniel looks much better...but Ron somehow looks funny heh!....But i do think Ron is much cuter and the way he speaks always makes me laugh while Harry is the more seriuos kinda of guy....can't wait for the next movie...hope that the 3 will star in it again..

welllllllllllllllllllllll....i just watched it! and it was great! i recomend it!!! :excited:
but yeah, i dont like how the movie they make it seem like hermoine is going to hook up with harry or ron, if you guys read the book, u know that she doesn't hook up with neither of them. however, in this movie she got so much prettier!
i like the special effects and all that good stuff, but when i was watching it, some family next to me was on the cell phone...crying baby..eating loudly...it was really anoying!!
ohh and draco malfoy...haha...he so funny when he all whimpering...however i kinda think he got cuter too :shy: ..hehe kinda silly since he like 13!!

i just watched it yesterday. it was realli realli weird. i mean you could follow it but they left out some stuff. I really couldnt get Draco's character. Whoever played him was realli realli bad. I think the best part of the movie would b the comedy with ron. Other then that...realli bad.

yep saw it too.
some of it was good some of it was bad.
if u are a HP fan, definitely go watch, stop worrying if it'll turn out worse than the book. It WILL turn out worse than the book anyway. so stop worrying, get your butt to a theater now!!
key points here:
-too short, needs more time for characters to truly act
-no oliver wood, no cho chang (total bummer)
-ron/hermione humor so cute, in fact humor throughout was cute
-tons and tons of details chopped off (killed the movie)
-more explanation needed, it confused me, and I read the book!
-effects were awesome
-not enough quidditch (more flying around needed)
-dynamic trio all grown up, so freakin cute!! (ummm Harrys so hot here)
my advice: go watch it, and come bitch about the bad points in here later. tah-tah my fellow HP obsessers.

Well I think Tom did a very good job acting as Draco the scardy cat. He's really funny. I don't think it is bad I think its wonderful. They did cut out alot of good scenes but still its good. Hehehe Trishee's right anyway you see it, it will turn out bad than the book anyway. If you are all complaining about this movie getting to short.. You all should start complaining bout GoF.. Mike Newell is really cutting out most part about the book. :/ Oh man..!! There's even news saying that maybe they are gonna replace the Trio's place with younger actors after the 4th movie.. :-|

You have definitley taken every single word out of my mouth. I saw it today, I thought it was good and horrible at the same time. They left out WAY to many details and they ruined my image of Sirius and Lupin. Snape was evil enough and neither was Draco. Harry and Draco turned cute though... :wink2:

Honestly I don't find it hateful nor do I find it great. I wasn't too happy with what the staff did to it. IMO, it looked like as if it was rushed. You know in the first scene, he blew up his aunt and then he got on a Knight bus, and then went to Leaky Cauldron WENT TO THE MINISTER  (Gawd...so rushed they did'nt even send him a letter for the offense he did  ) and then get informed about Black THEN GOING TO HOGWARTS  (GEEZ~!!! What were they thinking???) then the dementors and CLASSES then.,...shit....I could go on forever...I wouldn't be so surprised if half the HP reader's population hates the outcome of the movie...DUH...it's as if they made a whole shit out of it. And I can't even make out with a sane expression because in one scene, it's hilarious, then the next you're going to freak out with the dementors flailing the screen...ARGH~!!! ALSO, no Cho Chang, No Diggory, LESS QUIDDITCH, Hermione being so b**** (DAMN IT! It didn't even mention in the book that she and Ron we're having a you-know-what!!!) and lastly a not-so-convincing Dumbledore (Honestly I can regard him as a hermit, not as a headmaster)...and oh yeah, why the hell did they made the Firebolt scene at the end :-x ? and a feather along with it??? Even if I was Black, I wouldn't be able to buy a high-standard broom and miraculously, enter a bank without ANYONE noticing it (if you've read the book, the first time Harry got hold of his broom, he doesn't know who sent it. And Black had so many excuses right then but to actually buy a broom AFTER escaping the Hogwarts gates along with a Hippogriff  ???) OMG...the plot has gone insane....and terribly enough, there are some scenes not written in the book...Oh darn...this is terrible...Possibly the worst sequel to the movie....
Wonder what "errors" they'll commit in the next sequel...*sigh* How I hope they do get a decent Krum next...(AND A CHO CHANG OR A DIGGORY IF GOD PERMITS  ...)

Harry Potter is not in Indo yet. *sob* I envy you guys... *sob*
wow...looks like many ppl give compliments about hp 3....i'm gonna watch it this friday!!!....maybe i should pay more attention to ron this time rather than harry...
my sis saw the movie.... she says its not as good as the 2nd movie... also it is true that they cut a few scenes from the story book.... i guess that the director have rush thu this movie, there for the quality not as good... and mayb of the time constrain...

Oh wow Cedric IS hot!!!
I saw the movie today!!! So hyped up about it...it was good but not as good as I expected, I think I actually left the cinema with a blank look on my face. Way too many details cut out and yeah pretty much what you guys already said.
My favourite scene was the night bus though...very entertaining...the whole cinema kept cracking up laughing everytime Harry's face got squashed and the part where Hermione hugs Ron...that was cute!!! They make such a cute couple.
I was really hoping to see Bill (Ron's brother) in the scene where they rescue buckbeak but it never happened but I guess there's no point in including a minor charcter in the movie, just like Cho Chang and Cedric but it would've been nice to see him.
And I also prefer Ron over Harry because I personally think that Ron has better acting skills than the other two, although I think they've all improved a great deal since the last two films =)
And I never really imagined Professor Lupin to look like what he did...I always had this image of a really fat detective lol...but in the book it doesn't even describe him as fat, I don't even know how that image came into my head.

I dunno, i think that dan radcliffe (harry) seems to have been picked for his looks rather than his acting....the guy can't even cry on cue!

It's actually pretty hard to cry on cue... A lot of people just use eyedrops. Besides, not everyone is born actors. I think Dan is getting better.

08-17-2004, 12:59 AM
Yeah... That really bugged me. I wanted more on the Marauders... Grrr... I absolutely hated whats-his-name as Lupin... -_-;; In my opinion, Lupin is supposed to be clean-shaven and rather good-looking. And although Gary Oldman did well as Sirius, they really should have asked Johnny Depp to play Sirius.
w4t3r_lily
08-17-2004, 12:07 PM
I think Gary played well as Sirius. I don't think Johnny Depp can do better than him. Well at first my thought about Sirius is completely different from the movie. I think he is a cute guy. Just like harry's father..kinda like playboy.
Lupin..kinda weird but i like him. He can act pretty well.

i feel that this one isnt as good as the previous two...this one seems like...not very exciting...not many effects...and not very 'happening'...i guess its due to the directors...the previous two are more able to show out the feelings and the emotions and effects...but for this one erm...its like nothing much to see...and many parts of the story is missing...the other two is not that bad...but this one...it really missed alot...qquite disappointed in it...
but still the acting is good....

I'm sorry, but I thought all the HP movies sucked. The books are interesting enough, but I can barely watch the movies. I don't think it'd be TOO bad if Daniel Radcliffe weren't such a horrible actor. And also the little inaccuracies in the movies always bug me.
I reckon HP3 was the best outta all the movies...so far! Maybe it's a lil bias as my fav book was number 3! hehe
I watched it ages ago when it came out, and the special effects and acting have improved greatly and Emma Watson is HEAPS pretty!!! Daniel Radcliffe is a lil cutie adn Rupert Grint is just funny as!

oooh, can't wait for the latest book.
i used to be obsessed with the harry potter books....
she couldn't write them fast enough, so i went reading all these fan fics for awhile.
some of them were PRETTY GOOD...! so much so that i got a lil confused about what were in the original books and what were in the fan fics. i liked this particular one called the Draco Trilogy a lot...and draco was portrayed in a very different light in those books. so haha, when i read the original HP books, i need to switch my mindset back into the "malfroy's evil" mentality.
i didn't like the latest book (order of phoenix) so much though.
i hope Half Blood Prince will be better....
and OH! who did they end up casting as Cho Chang for the Goblet of Fire movie?

oh thanks for the info, yue anne!!!
hm....she's not that pretty though. at least not from that shot.
i like hermione (the actress) a lot....i think she's cute!
i have some (pedophilic) friends who claim that hey watched harry potter movies for her.
and they can't wait for her to grow up more in the new movie

watch the movies for her? wow. Well she is indeed pretty.
I have some of her videos, -the interviews- if you want, no problem to share it with you guys, oh are we in the wrong thread by the way? there is another one though, about the 5th book.

I saw the movies too...the third one was the best, i think... and i really like the director! He did a good job! Even though it was not like the books... well... i guess all the movies would be like that! I really liked the Ron/Hermione moments! It was kind of cute!! The only thing that gets me really angry is Hermione... the producers think she's too perfect!! Lines that should be Ron's, in the movie turned out to be Hermione's!!! it really pissed me off! hahaha.... because usually are important lines and makes Ron useless...
I really love HP books...can't wait to read the next one...

oh are we in the wrong thread by the way? there is another one though, about the 5th book.
hm. good question. actually i didn't even realize that this was the movie thread. somehow i skipped over the word "movie" and just saw Harry Potter.
i guess since the books are ultimately gonna be made into movies.....allowances can be made?
but anyways, movie stuff.
The only thing that gets me really angry is Hermione... the producers think she's too perfect!! Lines that should be Ron's, in the movie turned out to be Hermione's!!! it really pissed me off! hahaha.... because usually are important lines and makes Ron useless...
somehow i didn't like the actor that played Ron (relative to harry and hermione) <-- referring to the actors and actresses, but lazy to remember their real names.
plus i guess i never quite liked ron that much in the books either....so i actually didn't really notice these details when i watched the movie.
as far as i was concerned, the less ron the better
i know that in the third movie they were trying to hint at something between harry and hermione...right?
the thing is, i've read the books so many times, and watched each movie only once that i kinda don't quite remember things from the movie. whatever i know will be from when i read the book.
[by the way, due to the fan fics, i'm now for *gasp* Draco-Hermione]
impossible though, in the real JK Rowling's HP world.

wahaha i guess you got influence by the fan fiction - you know about the draco- hermione-
hahaha but i would love to see more on harry-hermione which is quite impossible as is pretty obvious that their relationship is just as simple as platonic relationship.
hahaha Ron, the lines are pretty funny especially in the movies.
By the way I quite like the 3rd movie actually. maybe is because of the dementors. but for those who did not read the books, i find that they will be having hard time to understand the entire movie.

Hum... I like the three main actors and actress pretty much...they did a good job, Daniel have a little problem of expressions (dont think he has any at all...), but still... can't think in someone better than him! My favorite one is Rup Grint, playing Ron, maybe it's because he really looks like the one in the books and i love Ron!!!!
i know that in the third movie they were trying to hint at something between harry and hermione...right?
u mean ron and hermione right?! cuz in the third movie had that holding hands thing... and it was kind of typical of romance tension...
I like fan fictions too!! I know its kind of impossible to happen on the books...but i like draco/ginny!

Personally I kinda adore Daniel ( Harry Potter ) because he is cute. HEhehe but I must say that Rupert's (RON weasley) acting is much better than Daniel. Emma (Hermione) is acting pretty good too! and yeah I love watching Ron's part as is pretty funny!his lines and his expressions! tiny bit about ron-hermione relationship is pretty catchy and i love to watch it! hehe
draco/ginny, heheh not bad. but who knows, it might happen~ lols

i think all three of them has improved a lot since the first movie. i especially love watching rupert's expressions. i think rupert and emma's acting is better than daniel, but i just adore daniel as well. he's such a sweetie.
before i was rooting for harry and hermione, but now i'm beginning support ron and hermione. of course, i wouldn't mind whichever way it turned out :D hehe
third movie definitely had a different angle than the first two. many people didn't like it, but i actually enjoyed it very much. but my only complaint was they weren't even wearing their uniform for most of the movie. i liked the uniforms.... it could have been longer as well. (i wouldn't mind watching more. hehe) but the sound and picture and special effects were fantastic.
can't wait for the fourth movie to come out! even though it'll be a while. but at least the 6th book is coming out soon!

yeah that is very true!!!! rupert's acting is really good and funny! and somehow Daniel is pretty stiff, not that i don't like him. hehe he is cute! i like the 3rd movie very much actually, is darker, is better and is just worth watching for loads of times!!!By the way following are the new book covers, harry potter and the half blood prince.

haha.. but seriously... i am also very affected by fanfictions... *chanting-DH ending! DH ending! DH ending!*
haha, i HOPE you mean draco-hermione and not draco-harry
i was pretty surprised to read this slash fanfic the other time. you know, draco-harry.
i saw D-H and asssumed it was draco-hermione, and started reading.
and then it turned out to be draco-harry.
was pretty ah, surprised.
but it was very well written, one of the best writing styles ive seen in HP fan fics so i just continued....
lotsa hilarious bits.
about the movie....
well somehow i never quite liked Ron in the book
and then i really didn't like the look of Ron in the movie so that didn't help matters....
i think the kids playing harry and hermione are pretty goodlooking!
i seem to have a tendency to not like the "classic/main" pairings that much, even in all the drama series i've watched.
so that's why even though harry-hermione might be probably the most logical pair, i'm not that fond of the notion.
logical coz well, harry needs a girl in his life. what better choice than his best friend who he knows so well? plus they're both muggle-born and can relate to each other. plus hermione has always been and will continue to be a strong support and big help.
and since i don't like Ron, i don't like hte Ron-Hermione pairing either.
and perhaps we should edit the thread title to say Harry Potter Community or something....
not just the movie, but the movie and the book and in general the story?

i saw this movie the first day? or the second day it came out...
i must admit i liked the set from the previous director more... but i think the forbidden forest looks better? and the movie was mroe humourous...
the guy that plays draco malfoy(i momentarily forgot his name) is soo skinny!o.O;;
btu yeah they all grew up to be good looking which is wel.. not "surprising" but coincidental!=P
im a real big fan of draco/hermione as welll!!!
but yeah it is a bit 'out of the ordinary' for hte harry potter world... damn!><"
i cant wait for the book! and hte fourth movie...

wow! i'm amazed that there are so many fans of draco/hermione.... :-)
i thought i was wierd.
but again, i have to stress that this didn't stem from my reading of the original series of books. its all coz of the first Draco-Hermione fan fic that i read, and i was hooked.
then i read subsequent ones and it kinda sealed that picture in my head.
draco was always portrayed as this poor little rich boy who's actually good at heart, but with a wicked father.
and then of course, in these stories he's smart -- comparable to hermione, like she's the kind who would voice out her answers in class whereas draco, being the cool guy that he is, won't say anything...
so he's smart and rich and witty (dry sarcastic humor) and drop dead gorgeous in the fan fics...haha.
do you guys think i should start a new harry potter thread? to just discuss harry potter in general?
coz i realize that i'm kinda going off topic here.....
Yue Anne

yeah that will be an awesome idea. i mean we are in fact almost out of the topic.
