Who are they? all i know that they are a popular boyband from Japan. I was just wondering about them cuz when i was lookin at pics in the chinese newpaper, i saw their pic with a f4 pic in the article.however don't know enough chinese to read what the article was about but i think it was comparing f4 with them.

You don't know who are they? :glug: Among top ten favourite male artistes in Japan, 5 of them are in! But one thing for sure, Takuya Kimura is the most popular among the five. He won the most sought-after male artist in Japan and I love him! Kakoii! :love: But he got married and even has a baby now..and his wife is the most hated female artist in Japan, :sweat:

They act, they sing, they host etc. They can even dun care abt their image to pose ugly or posing as girls!

Hmm, sorry but F4 can't even compare to them. They have been around for ten over years.. :wink2:

SMAP stands for something like Sports, Music and People (may be wrong about the A). Yeah, they're a huge boygroup (jazz, pop, and rap) in Japan with their own weekly show SMAPxSMAP. Each member has his own fanbase and so are pretty successful on their own despite being together as a group. Of course, Takuya is the most popular of the five.
I think I saw the article too which tries to make a similar comparision of the SMAP and F4 as each try to launch their solo career outside of their boyband association. But yeah, I agree with hisashi that the comparision is not apt since SMAP has been around way longer.

Anyway...I like their songs...they have pretty nice voice. Actually, my friend was the one who asked me to listen to thier songs.

Actually all of them have acted in Jap serials before. But probably Kimura san is the most successful/popular actor of the five. He was in Cannes just a few days ago to promote his first film with Wong Kar Wai "2046".

And I so agree with you Hisashi. There is no comparison between SMAP and F4.

Smap is like the legend of Japanese boybands. I like them. I saw this old album of SMAP at our local record store where they were wearing neon colored clothes and funky hair, so early 90's. Shows how old they are. :laughing:

i love SMAP. even though they have theyre solo careers. they are still a band...i think.
i'm not sure if its still running. but they have a tv show thats a branch of their other show. called bistro smap. they have guest and they cook for they guests! its cool to see how well these guys cook! one of the guys interviews the guest as a host and the other 4 divide into two teams. if a female guest likes the cooking the winners get a kiss or a gift. if its a male, they get gifts. lol well that's how it supposed to go. they are soo funny!

Talking abt the film 2046, Kimura was pissed off by the reporters who followed him all the way to the hotel... well, artistes still need their rest. :wink2:

I'm excited about 2046! This one's the WKW film with Tony Leung, right? It's taking a loonnnggg time to shoot it. I hope they pack up already! My friends and I have been waiting for this film for a year now...

Yep! In fact, they just had a press conference.. when's the actual date? Is it in July? I think so.. gosh.. so many films coming up.. oops.. sidetrack a bit.. Kaneshiro is going to act in an ancient chinese film for the first time! With Zhang Ziyi and Andy Lau.. he looks sauve alright..for a 1st timer..

Back to Kimura, did u see his new look? It looks a bit messy...like gangsta..bad boy style.. :)

i just found out he's gonna do a voice on the upcoming Hayao Miyazaki film "Howl's Moving Castle" wow. my favourite book, with my favorite japanese actor, with my favorite director....and now the waiting.

Hmm...what can I say..I'm a new SMAP fan..especially Takuya..I just adore him.It's just a shame he's already married..lol..Anyways, hope i'll be able to complete their albums..ahemm...that may take a while coz there's so many. =)

Yeah...but I think that the songs in the earlier albums are a bit childish..I began to like them from 1996 onwards..heh..after the other member quit to realise his car racing dream..but thats also when they became more popluar.. :) I do like some of their old songs.

Hisashi Hehhe...They were really young when they started..I guess they get better with age..I'm still looking for lyrics and translations of their songs now..Shiosai was the 1st song that I liked..And now, the famous LionHeart is on my list..And fly..Hehehe..

SMAP does theme for "Sasaki Fusai"

SMAP is singing the theme song for the TBS drama series "Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tatakai," which stars Goro Inagaki and Koyuki. The song, tentatively titled "Sonomama," is composed and written by the band Monkey Majik. A release date has not yet been announced, but it will be publicly heard for the first time during the drama's premiere on January 20.
