Thailand has many shopping places and the place that I visit quite often is Siam Square and MBK. But sometimes I think it is pack full of school kids  since it has many tuition schools there and most of the shops sell similar kind of clothes.
My favourite shopping place might be Jartujak Weekend Market as it is so so big and has many independnt shops selling all sorts of unique stuff at cheap prices. I think I will never ever walk around it in two days as I think I probabaly get lost and walk the same route again :glug: . Even I go there almost every weekend, I still never get bored.
So tell us what your favourite shopping place is. It doesn't have to b in Thailand , it could be anywhere in Asia. :wink2: At least it be will some extra info for me about my next shopping trip.

heheh ok. my fave place is the heeren shops in singapore. they've got almost anything and you glue your butt to the floor of the HMV branch there and nobody would give a damn. MOST shop assistants dont breathe down your neck once you step into the store, except for a few (which have closed down, and i'm not at all sorry about that  ) yup and they sell the nicest things in the annex. you can get a transparent hairband for one buck. the price is pretty average, which is actually cheap for a shopping centre in orchard. they've got loads of neoprinting machines, so you wont have to wait for half an hr just to take a few freaking photos. moreover, lots of cute guys *coughcough* er, i mean people go there. the only thing is that the clothes there are pretty ordinary. think far east plaza would be the best place for cheap and nice clothes. oh, and heeren has got practically no food. (anyway, the food there is too expensive for kids like us) so i would suggest takashimaya basement one for food. they've got tako pochi  , yoshinoya beef bowl, orange julius and bee chang hiang bbq pork    yum.......... but there's always good old macdonalds too

when i'm in Thailand, i usually shop at Central, World Trade Center and Siam Discovery. but when i'm in the mood for bargaining, which is quite often, i go to MBK.
i also love Singapore's Orchard road. being a shopaholic, that place is paradise :wink2: yeah, the HMV in hereen is the best. takashimaya too, although it's quite expensive. tangs is good too. actually at first, i didn't know it was a mall because it looked anything but. its my favorite place to shop when i go to Singapore.
in HK, i just love Causeway Bay. you can find practically everything there--shops, good food and HMV! altho theirs is quite small compared to the one in Tsim Sha Tsui, but still it's good. i love Time Square. and the small shops/restaurants at the back of Excelsior Hotel, especially when it's nighttime! even tho it's like 10 in the evening, there are still so many people there.
sigh.. so many shops, so little time :wink2:

Wow denise88 , you are a real shopaholic. You have been to many major shopping places in Asia.
Orchard Road is the road that everyone must have been when they go to Singapore, but I have heard that most of the shops are brand names.
I saw a shopping programme about somewhere in China where they have a large market selling all kinds of things - fake stuffs, handmade stuffs, traditional Chinese stuffs.... I really wanna know what that place is as I am always into unique kind of stuff and clothes at the mo. ( but not as outageus as some of Jay's :bleh: )

Thailand--One of my fave places in the world! I loved spending the whole day at Chatuchak market! I was so tired afterwards but the goods & sights around cannot compare to anything or anywhere else!
Hong Kong--The outlet shops of Bossini, Esprit & Giordano :) I had an amazing feeling when I walked out of these shops with bags full of pants, blouses, shirts which I paid for at a very reasonable price!
Singapore--the whole stretch of Orchard Road! I was speechless hopping from one mall to another. Each mall had these cool shops selling different styles! it was so hard to choose!
Manila--home sweet home. I love to shop in Greenbelt Plaza, Goldcrest & Greenhills...Cool fashion at just the right price!
Happy Shopping Guys!
HongKong - night markets are my favorite, esp the one in mongkok. you just don't know what you'll find. A really good buy I had there were hand-embroidered moccasins from Nepal, a really great steal. I also got my stock of Korean and Chinese series there. The electronics shops along mongkok are also the places to go to for your gadgets and gizmos, they're a lot cheaper!
Bossini, Esprit, Giordano and other shops are good places to buy clothes too since they sell them at cheaper prices compared to the ones we have in the Phils.
Shanghai - XiangYang market, a huge outdoor market with almost anything and everything you need from clothes to bags and shoes. lots of counterfeit items though. You can also hit Nanjing Lu, the shopping area of Shanghai, for the branded stuff.
Beijing - Wangfujing is the shopping area of Beijing. Lots of good stuff, not to mention this huge 4-storey metersbonwe outlet!
Thailand - MBK is a good place to shop. although I haven't been to Chatuchak yet, I've been hearing a lot of good things about it, shopping-wise. The chinatown is also a good place for bargains.
Singapore - can't remember much since the last time I was here was some 7 years ago but Orchard place I guess is a good place to shop, so is the Chinatown.
Manila - I go to greenhills (sort of like your MBK in thailand). I still find the best clothes here. plus there's a food stall that sells my favorite seafood roll. yum! I also shop at Rustan's, a high-end department store, only when they have a sale. Megamall (one of the biggest shopping malls in town) is still a good place to shop. Glorietta too.
so many good shopping places... if only I had all the money to shop till I drop!
happy shopping everyone! :)

wow...you guys know so many places to shop :) travelled a lot eh? :hmm: and i rmb united square in johor bahru....they've got these really cool indian necklaces and accesories outside the shops. not to mention they sell wrigley's spearmint chewing gum  in case you dont know, chewing gums are banned in singapore
pamujung
05-27-2004, 04:35 PM
Yeah chewing gums are banned in singapore but I heard d news for special chewing gums are allowed for smoker who wanna quit.
For me..
HK, Kowloon - so many place to shop I love Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway bay. d roads r full of brand name and restaurants, When I go there I'd love to walk than taking d bus u can window shopping instead I also do that coz I always don't have money left when I got home. u can find d electrotricity product, even d old chinese medicine at there.
; I'm so excited :excited: at HMV never see d place like this bfore they r d bigest place selling all bout entertainment (cd and dvd of music and movie) I ever know
Singapore - Yeh d don't miss place is Orchard Road, there r many malls and chinese restaurant along d road. You can walk into one mall and out into another mall or d shop besides. I have to spend bout 2 day for visiting almost every shop
Thailand - :hmm: d most I like to go is Siam square, u can find all of teenage products, not only d brand name but d handmade. It's quite expensive here. And d another place I'd love to go is Jatujak weekend market, a lot of handmade product here with d lower price. But d bad thing is d place's crowded with ppl and d hot weather can make u go crazy :D
Korea - for d brand name shop and d place for drink is Myong-dong street, there r many malls and shop for visiting. but d place I like is Shinch'on street, yeah it's more teenager. u can find many teenage shops, coffee shop, and restaurant. There'r a lot of bargaining place but I can't remember d name
Japan - yeh ! :wink2: so many place to go like Ginza, Harajuku/Omotesando, Shinjuku and Shibuya. but d most I like is Shinjuku, u can find all things u want, fashionable clothes, accesories, cd, ... not all d brand name unlike Omotesando that's brand name shop located.

Hong Kong - a definite place for fashions. I don't go far from Causeway Bay area. My favorite haunt are Time Square, big Muji shop & Esprit next door, Watson, IKEA , Sogo and HMV. HK brands are a must : Giordano, G 2000, U2 ...
Tsim Sha Tsui - just lose yourself in Ocean Terminals shopping centres :glug: . HMV is some 2 blocks outside - It's expensive, so unless there's special offers, I'd gonna just browse their big selections.
Bangkok - It used to be Central Chidlom & Pratunam until I found Siam Square & MBK. MBK for the famous Thai snacks and preserved fruits, also the "natural cotton" stuffs - t shirts, bags etc. I'd only visited Chatucak market once, years ago, so big and hot - I hate bargain, that's why.
Singapore - Orchard Road. The music stores under Orchard station is a MUST !. Also Borders bookstore and Kinokuniya in Ngee Ann City. Restaurants in Ngee Ann ground levels are great !!.
For places that I don't have much time - I usually try to visit the hypermarkets like Carrefour - worse to the worse you can still find local foods and bits of everythings  . And Hard Rock Cafe, to get the tees and other interesting local merchandise :bleh:

Well, as a shopaholic living in spore, I noe the shopping malls at the back of my hand, orchard road seem to have the most adequate fashion trend of clothings and accessories. I believe many sporean can even shopped the whole area with their eyes closed! Those who live long enuff here, will realise that the country itself is so boring, yawns :worry:
Omg!! I still had not overcome my depression about my departure from bangkok! :rasp: Haha... sound depressed here. Just back from bangkok and spent my 4 days trip shopped [with my 1 frd]. I went to numerous shopping malls like MBK, Siam discovery central, Gypson, etc. I oso visited Chatuchak weekend market and mind u, it was a huge huge x 10...... area!! Both of us was panting and sweating as we shopped from one street to another. Not to forget the night market near silom area there. It was a whole lot of funs!! But one of my deepest impression was to visit Suam-Lum Night bazzar to listen to the live band and drink beer! Yippie!! The price was much cheaper compare to spore! Haha.. How I wish I still in Thailand now... hey, I was thinking to change my citizenship to thai, how bout it?!

Pam, there are ppl who go to these places and don't drink alocohol. You don't order coke right away, but coke and water are the drinks that accompany alcohol ( they mix them up with Black and stuff ), so I just pured coke in my glass or just water and talk.
With second hand smoke and loud music soon make me feel like I am drunk already.
But everytime I go out places like Thong Lor or Kaowsand, there are always ppl who join my table and drink water, believe it or not, and these ppl are 90 percent straight guys.
I only drink cocktail or other alcoholic drinks when I am in a restaurant or anywhere with nice and open atmosphere. Good girl, me.

Jang i dont drink beer as like a hobby, just sometimes, rarely (trishee trying very hard to avoid the bad girl label) i hope you dont carve the words underage drinking into my forehead and i also love the open lounge thing. and Kaosarn road is 90% staright guys??? how do you know that? ever hear of Will and Grace??? btw, i hate second hand smoke too. actually i hate smoking of all kinds...DONT SMOKE!!!!...personal message from trishee to all of you....

Jang, I agree with trishee. Drinking is not considered as a hobby and I never heard of it b4. Well, to some extent drinking is acceptable during occasions or once in a blue moon but dun make it a habit to drink everyday or wat. Mind u, excessive alcohol will lead to many diseases. Well, that apply to smoking as well. So to all here, take care and drink/smoke less if you are.

And my coke thing doesn't concern of the drink anyway, u totally know what I mean  forget it !! yep I know some use coke or water mix instead of soda with many reason I also mix coke on ice :brows:
yup I kinda not go to that place much coz I really hate the smoking and can't stand with it even a second. But I still have the favorite place to go, I really love "arthit road" all classic and friendly club are at there.

Pam,I don't usually go places like Kaowsand Road unless shopping at day time, but when I am at work, my collegues always go to places like Kaowsand or Thong Lor , so I so just go to socialize with ppl. But usually me and my university or school friends just go to karaoke, or normal restaurants. Pra athit Road, near Santi Chaiprakarn Park is a place I used to pass everyday when I was in the uni, so I am quite familiar with it, too. It is more cozy and less noisy.

07-27-2004, 11:13 AM
Metrosexual is like a guy ( a real straight guy ) who cares so much with how they look from head to toes, inside to outside to every detail. Like that hi-so guy, Top, who used to date Ploy, Lila.
fei, I'm thinking about buying Jay a Redbull t-shirt. Do u think he will wear it??

you can make screen or painting on that t-shirt!

metrosexual..is that the word??? thats like a very in-trend word rite? reminds me of those thai crappy hi-so shows, so annoying...
whats wrong with the sex consult page? i mean there is one in every single lifestyle magazine, and me being incredibly stingy, read every single page of a magazine, and yes, including that page, i find it very educational and funny because of the problems people send in sometimes....so funny, i sure hope they dont happen to me though
and Sean, sorry bout the gay remark, of course id know you arent gay, you were just looking through your sisters magazines becoz you wanted to take a glimpse of those pretty models rite?? i mean some of them dont even have tops on, its like free porn :bleh:

Hmm, I was jus curious so I take a glimsp at the mags. Well, to understand a girl better, a guy may need to read up and absorb infos about gal stuffs =) (at least he noe wat is a mascara or lipstick when the gal tell him, got it?) No naked pics but only pretty models only...

just to cut it short, i'll call them mets. typing metrosexual every damn time is killing me and my fingers. i think 'mets' buy the best stuff for themselves. i mean they arent all rich but wanna take care of themselves. so they buy good stuff. and we all know good stuff is expensive stuff. so there you go. im guessing, either rich or poor, mets always buy the best products in the market.
whoosh what a long theory.

I dun get wat u mean, sorry pam. In any case, so that is how u venture ur way to HK. Well, I noe a little bit of cantonese and of cos I talked in mandarin with the locals there. Nice place, I have a good impression of it, just that the stay isn't that long. Well, time flies when you're having fun.
When in BKK, I spoke to the locals in simple english and ohh sure, they can reply me back. That made my trip easier. Hence, my stay in BKK was a pleasant and memorable one. =p

I think why their people don't learn english and use it more than this as HK is promoting to be the place for travelling.
Next time you come here, just ask one of us to be with you.. I'm sure we would love to guide you :D (do I say it wrong ? hehe)

I'm being a shopaholic too. So i know lots of places to shop in Bangnkok. I'm quite a great bargainer myself. :bleh: Never been to other ountries except now in china so will say only in Bangkok area.
MBK is a big indoor shopping mall which sells many kinds of products. But me walking on floor 1 and 2 for shoes, cloths and accessories.
Siam Square is good for teenagers. u can find in-trend fashions from in and out of thialand. Some stores design and made their own cloths. Price are more expensive than Bonanza (area nearby) or Ramkunheng road. One nice and better quality for pirated Brand name bags too.
Bonanza is one small building having 3 floors. It sells cheaper items from mass production. 199 baht is the popular selling price.
Ramkunheng is near to my my uni. I walked in Ramkunheng sidewlk everyweek. They seel cheap items but not only targeted to teenagers. also have some young working uniform and cloths for this group of ppl too.
Tawanna is another seliing cheap item. It used to be a warehouse but now lease for small kiosk to sell things. this place is always crownded just like Jatujak (JJ market) I'm soaked with sweat everytime go there.
Jatujak ( JJ market) is a never-dare-to-miss place for shopping. if u dont know where to find what u r looking for. Go to JJ cause it has just about everthing. All u need is a good mouth of bargaining the price. or else u gonna be paying with 400% mark up.
Silom night street sidewalk + Patpong is where i walk every weekend cause i live in Saladeang. Both are selling in higher price since targetd to tourist and located on business road. most of products are cloths, house decoration accesories, Pirated bags and cds, and woman.
Suan Lum Night Bazaar is quite big. Place is like smaller JJ market. i only go there once or twice. Mainly targeted to tourists.
to be continued for more indoor malls

I'm returning to BKK at the end of the year, most likely I suppose. On my last visit, I came with 1 guy frd, so it is the 2 of us wandering around the city, shopped till dropped and enjoyed a hell' lot of funs!
Not sure bout the rest of thais, but I know like u, jang, pam, fei, pukpods and few others are well-versed in english. That's awesome!

Hey, I sort of behaving like a gal arhh, haha. Dun be mistaken, I'm not and I'll not be. Hey, I still adore kyoko, geez.
Well, it is uncommon for a guy that like shopping arh, but I breaks out of the tradition. I does shop for my stuffs, and I have some frds that shopped together with me. Perhaps it might be the influence of Singapore, cos it is becoming as a food and shopping hub, hence they always set up shopping malls, but not leisure spots. I have to find some stuffs to kill my boredom though, maybe this is how I get into shopping. Well, it is an expensive sport! *lol* =)

Pam: where did you shop those electronic gadgets and those entertainment stuffs ? we have many places sell the fake/copy one, some of it's quite good quality but some is really bad. you don't be fooled by thai people right ?
Hey pam, before I came to thailand, I know that electronic stuffs aren't that cheap compare to singapore here, cos most of the electronic gadets (geninue ones) are imported. In sinagapore, lot of electronic companies set up their branches here, that why they produce their goods here and hence the prices are cheaper. I didn't get any electronic items in BKK.
All I shopped for in BKK is sportwears, clothes and accessories. Hmm.. my bag is damn full when I went back home.
Hmm, well, I'm a fan of various sports brands like nike, addidas, puma, etc. My favs are the 3 brands that I jus listed. Hmm, I always check out their latest designs whenever I shopped, and I have a number of sportwears in my warebore & shoe compartments. *lol* Gosh, wasted too much of these.... hmm my wallet is getting thinner each day. =/

 that's funny, you know some of electronic stuffs are produced in Thailand but they are not sell in Thailand, I don't know why and that include others stuffs like clothes, shoes,.. etc. The electronic companys or other factories just need the low price worker here
But if I have to buy those stuffs, I prefer to buy in HK. I don't know that in Singapore the price is cheaper. :excited: did you say cheaper ? will it cheaper when compare with HK ? may be I have to rethink again. hmm...

Ok since some of us here dont know where i'm living, i'll just roughly decribe it.
Guangzhou or GZ is a place full of factories. most of exporting items which contribute to half of the world product, are produced here. some companies who don't want thier product printed made in china willing to pay extra for truck to carry container to HK and then export it from HK port. GZ is not a pleasant to live if u compare to HK or beijing or Shanghai. GZ is the capital of Guangdong state which located at the south of china. map here (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/north_east_asia/china/china.htm)
hope this enlight u ppl :bleh:

08-05-2004, 03:45 PM
actually it's not QUIET at all. ppl here always like shouting and spliting. a lot of pollution too.
back to topic, what i like most about being here is that the price of everything is quite cheap compare to thailand. since i'm here, i noticed we import thing from china a lot.
pamujung
08-05-2004, 05:30 PM

pam i'm here to live with brother. i plan to go to school for chinese in september.
Shopping here is better than in thailand in some aspects, not all. since i can speak few word fo chinese so i can't bargain, they sell me in higher price. although u know chinese(mandarin) , they still sell u not-so-cheap price. if u speak cantonese, then u get the cheapest. and u all know chinese ppl around here (same as ones in bkk chinatown) have skills in selling including mark-up the price for no reason. if u r foreigners, u will be cheated easily by these sellers.

trish, for me it's like the closest place to hang out with friends.
every weekend i stay at my condo in Saladeang companying my sister. it takes like 10 minutes for me to be there by BTS. everytime when sounding which place to get together, the result just come out this way......... siam. i guess that's because one, the area is center of the town. i mean friends come from different house, right? their houses are not always in the neighborhood. two, in the same that area has malls located next to one another. we (me and friends) can find more activities to do, like shopping, there're many shops in malls+small shops in siam aquare+small small shops in Bonanza. there we also can go for cinemas for our interesting movie. as well as going to take some excercises by bowling. finally the important thing, plenty of restuarant for us to choose our lunch/dinner. :D

Trish, neh, it's not weird at all. Sometimes I do appreciate silence. My mind will calm down and able to concentrate more. But I do like to be in the buzzing city and brisk around the town. Humans are complicated aren't? =/

I always to go Central Ladprow when I am in a mood for shopping indoor. Future Park Rangsit is so far away from my home. I don't like it there. It is too big and the shops are quite similar, I think. The last time I went was on Valentine's Day or sth. We went there cos we used to go to a university near there and we just wanna go back to the past thing. lol. But good memory turned to bad one cos I had a roll with my bf *tears* Bad memory.

haha so very 100% true. OMG when thai people do something, they do it the exact same time. pisses me off. so i tried to avoid the Mall Bangkapi area because they had a mothers day concert. a few yrs backi went during a fish exhibition, out of the 1000 car spaces, my car didnt even get one.
Hmm, I thought as usual? Everyday, every time I out on roads, I saw traffic jams. Crowded people hanging around. I took it as per normal in BKK. Haha..

Double/triple??? Oh gosh.. that will be disasterous!! I was there complaining when I took a cab from the airport to my hotel and it jammed all the way throughout my trip. Luckily the air-con was cool if not, I will curse and swear!! *lol* Thailand is one of the countries that have the highest rate of traffic jams and accidents. That really sound worried.. =/

you know i which so bad that the new governer of BKK will do something about this mess. i know that he/she cant resolve it completely, but i do pray it'll get better.
i get worried to, when its someone i love out on the streets at night, especially during songkran or something like that.

I don't want to say this word but "Dream on" New governer huh ?! nah... can't clear up any mess on the street, don't think about resolve it  The last way to deal with this, we have to rebuild the street and bridge, everywhere !!
Just think of it in the positive way, that's we can appreciate the nearby car and building along street, we will have time to listen the radio, read some newspaper, family will have the talk in the car, it's unique for tourists to remember.
trishee
08-16-2004, 02:22 PM
i know its impossible. but right now i wanna be optimistic about this.
every single day i hear and or experience this kind of traffic from other people and it is getting tiring. i know the new governer cant do anything. but i do wish the situation will get better.
bangkok is known for its traffic. i just wanna change that.
fukakyon
08-16-2004, 04:16 PM
Hey, dun change it. When I think of thailand, I think of traffic jams!! Trademark isn't it? Haha..
I dun think the government will resolved it and if he wish to, he had already done it a long time ago. Oh man, my experiences on the jams is still okay, I still can bear with it. Yeah, perhaps choosing the right road and paths to destinations is the right thing to do.
P.S: Thinking on the bright side, if i caught a traffic jam with u gals in the same vehicle, that will be great! Cos I will have more time to be together with you all ain't? Hahaha..
Thailand is one of the countries that have the highest rate of traffic jams and accidents. That really sound worried.. =/
they just did a feature on road accidents/driving in asia and Thailand was on top of the list for road accidents. others on the list are India I think and China. I was very surprised not to find the Phils on top of the list.
I've only been to bangkok once and the traffic was indeed quite bad. what sucked the most was when we were riding the tuktuk and were stuck on the road for almost an hour... I had probably inhaled all the pollution already
but I have to admit, it also reminded me of home coz the traffic here is just as bad, if not a bit better...
jtayk
08-17-2004, 11:17 AM
lene, nice to know that Thailand is not alone. At least Philipines, India, and China have to face the same prob. I hate traffic jam so bad, but I think I'm quite use to it. The worst thing about stuck in the traffic is when you need to go to the toilet but the car could not move anywhere......
There are 3 Philipine kids doing work experience in my compnay , and on my floor. They are so young so I think they must know someone in the office and come here for personnal purpose since they are only 14-15. They all have different looks. One looks like Chinese, one looks like Japanese, and the other one looks like ... Thai.
fukakyon
08-17-2004, 04:19 PM

Jang, I do agree with you, if you happen to be the driver and you are to answer the nature's call... that's it!! One of the most trickest thing to happen in life!! =)
China, it ain't that bad from what I see. Unsure of India & philippines... but road accidents are bound to occur in every cities and towns if not careful. So drive safely everyone =)

Hey Sean, this is a shoping thread, I will take you shopping, ok?? One place is not enough for me :
I will take u to Park Krong Talard, in the early morning of 5.00 am. It is a giant flowers market so I will take you there early to pick the white lily or red roses.
7.00 am. Take you to the morning market at Tha Chanrg. It is near Grand Palace, just incase you don't know. I will take you to try out all traditional thai breakfast : rice pordige, par-thong-go, soya milk etc. Or you can go and have chicken rice at Tha Pra Chan near my old uni.
9.00 am. Finish breakfast and go shopping again at Siam Square and now you get to bring the flower you bought from Park krong talard to the nicest girl you find.
12.00 Have lunch with the girl ( if she wants to have it with u )
1.00 pm. wear a cap and go shopping at Jartuchak Weekend Market and go crazy cos of heat and ppl and bargain!!
6.00 pm. Have dinner at Kaowsand Road and do street shopping. Get yourself a cool martial tattoo look alike henna .
9.00 pm. Go to Silom and do the night shopping till you drop.
Enough for a day?? Now send me money so I can prepare the trip, sean. lol

08-25-2004, 02:44 PM

Pam, correction pam. I've not really been to everywhere in BKK, just some famous places that stated in the map which I picked up from the airport. As I said, there are many other good and hidden places I have yet to explore, like kaosarn road, Tha Chanrg, etc.
Ok, Suam Lum bazaar! Yeah, I have been there too and I loved there too. Live band, bazaar, beers and ladies? Hahaha.. :glug:
Trish, that's really sweet of you of bringing me to the temple. Guess what, I will wish to visit a temple on my next trip. I wanna to see how it's looks like compare to my hometown here. And not to forget the Grand Palace.

Hey, trish, go to sports section in every mall, they sell all kinds of brand name ones. I bought one for only 395 Baht, and it is a suede one, too. I am not into cap collecting, but I like wearing them when I am out. I think it is Jay's influence on us.. Chatuchuk is not bad, I got one from there, too. There have all kinds of wacko hats and fancy ones, and sports ones, too. Shop till you drop. lol.
So Sean, when will you drop by?? Chatuchak is now easier to reach by underground.

Trish: i feel kinda funny, im thai, i lived here all my life and this dude from singapore is recommending to me a great place to shop in thailand. haha its funny. trust me, Sean is now 100% thai. he's more thai than i am. thanks for the tip, although i wish you would drop in for the weekend
Hey, noted I'm Thailand 's Tourist Ambassador. You need a foreign person to promote the wonderland, Thailand yeah. And no one else but me. I'm capable and absolutely up to the task. :D

Yep , trish, they usualy pick foreign celeb to be the tourist embassador. Like in Malaysia, our Jay is the Embassador, and A Mei is... for which country, Sean?? I cannot remember. You just mentioned it somewhere.
Since Jay is way way too expensive. Cannot afford to hire him though I work my ass off all day all night all my life. So we have Sir Sean instead. He is all the way from Spoer witha touch of Thai sprinkled on top. He likes Jay and can speak so many languages, English, Mandarin, Thai, etc. only he is a lot cheaper. Only 500 Baht for a week, right?? Only kidding, sir. Forgive me.
*Picking up phone calls from pretty gals, receiving e mails and letters from wanna be in the VDO gals*
Sean, that girl in the MV is Chinese. We need someone who is so Thai, ammm or half Thai ...

A-mei is the tourist embassador for Taiwan in fact. Correction: I'm aren't that cheap! 450 bahts actually. Aiye, I flopped my mathematics test terribly. 450 > 500 right? :hmm: By the way, jang, you are not applying for this role aren't you? You sound to be my secretary huh... do consider about it, it's once in a lifetime dear, don't regret it if it slipped away from your hands.

Let me post craps! Hey, hold on, will the mods catch me for that?
Is Siam square selling the expensive stuffs there compare to other shopping malls like MBK or World trade?
jtayk
09-14-2004, 04:45 AM
Sean, don't try to post crap here. Leave it dead if there has to be.
Siam Squre has many independent shops like Jatuchak. Since the goods are not brand names, they are not as expensive as World Trade Center. BMK has both independent shops and brand names so it is like a combination of both Siam Squre and WTC. But I don't like MBK cos it is quite crowded and the shops are not well organized. I like Centrals better.

Sean, don't try to post crap here. Leave it dead if there has to be.
Jang, you won't die if this thread dead right ?
Yeah think so but add more, I think the shop in Siam Square and JJ (Jatujak) almost the same now but in JJ has more various of products, not only fashion clothes unlike Siam Square.
Sean, I think you mean Siam Center or Siam Discovery, there are the brand name shops that tend to sell the expensive stuff, especially Siam Discovery. Anyway, it's hardly to see thai people shopping in World trade (change to Central World Plaza already) There are the big mall inside, Zen and Iseton.. you can see foreigner around there, especially Japanese.

09-14-2004, 03:55 PM
Hmm, I feel that there's a redudancy of this thread if it's not posted. Let cook up some topics before the whole thai forums are dead. I don't think everyone wants that to happen!!
Hmm, my visit to WTC, was an average one. Yup, i agree. I noticed that there's more tourists than the locals there and it's not really an fantastics shopping mall. I like siam central, more hype and crowded. And the stuffs are really attractive!! Hmm, to be honest sport brands like addidas and nike products are abit cheaper compare to spore here, so I have a good buy at there! Haha.. :D
pamujung
09-14-2004, 04:23 PM
Oh really, sport brands in Thailand are the way cheaper than s'pore ?? how come, I think they are sold at the same price. Or you bought them in the Bargaining season, that's reasonable.
fukakyon
09-15-2004, 04:05 PM
That could be the reasons, actually I not sure too.
I went to the Nike & Adidas merchanise shops and start to shop. Some of the clothes appear to be fancy for me, so I went to try and buy eventually. The prices are relatively lower compare to singapore here, that what I know when I'm buying the clothes.

I better change my location to Nonthabury then... It will sound so up country : shy : better leave it like that. lol.
Moonsilk, I think it is Boonsak first, then Thailand second, right?? I think we better introduce pretty ppl of Thailand to the ppl in JCNET, I am sure there are many pretty here you will like. ( I am talking about stars and singers and models by the way )

About my next trip to BKK, I think it'll be around the period of NOV-DEC. I'm still unable to confirm the dates. If I pull my friends along, the chances of meeting you girls are pretty low. It's not that I don't wish to meet up, just that I can't possibly dump them aside and leave them roam in the city. C'mon, they'll definitely opposes my idea of meeting you girls up in our shopping trip there, morever they'll feel weird if he comes along with me. Imagine a group of us yelling and laughing & my frds are so bored that they keep yawning!
Perhaps one or two frds are joining me for this trip. Maybe none. Now, I just have to work out with them and plan wisely for my next trip. For further notices, I will update again... :wink2:
Gina: Hey, you seem determinded to visit BKK. Gosh, lady do meet up with these friendly thais here. Don't worry, they will not sell you away, most possibly ending up at pat-pong. :glug: (j/k gina & the rest!)

Sean why Patpong?? Why is it so interesting. To b honest with u, this place is considered not a good place to visit among the Thais. They might be popular among innocent tourists, but they are notorious ( famous in a negative way ) among Thais.
The reason you don't wanna meet up with Thais when you are with your friends cos you think we will think some of your friends are cute and ignore you, right??? Don't worry, you must be confident with your look. Personality is the only thing that counts when it comes to a relationship, and we will just have a laugh and going out for fun, that's all. We don't have to meet up in the shopping mall, we can meet at the Grand Palace, The Teak Wood Mansion, anywhere nice, but of cause not Patpong. We can leave that for you to enjoy at nights. lol.
I just wonder if we, Thais go to Spore, will there b anyone guide us around or wanting to meet with us?? Don't tell me, no.
fukakyon
09-20-2004, 04:40 PM
Jang: No No! Don't me wrong! My friend will be backpacking with me in BKK( if we really go to BKK) and I've no problem in bringing him to see you. It's entirely not concerning about my looks, just that I definitely know my best frd's mentality, he will nag at me and not join for our meeting. I meant he'll feel awkward in the sense, thinking: "Why should I go with you to meet those frds of yours which I don't even know there in the first place, morever, dude, we're on holidays now, shouldn't waste much time!!" See got my point? I'll plan and arrange how is it. I cannot give my words to you girls that I may go to BKK or what, and if I go, I might not meet up with you girls. Gosh, do spare a thinking for my friends.
Please don't get it wrong that I don't want to meet up or my friend dreaded of you girls. Please abort such thinkings. It's just that.. hmm.. I can't leave him alone :< Just hate me, if you can't convince by my reasonings. Hehe.. >.<
P.S: That'll be me. So all thais, if you wanna come to spore, do info me. If I afford to do so, I'll show you all around. :D

Various places like Orchard road, bugis, city hall, raffles place, boat quay(for clubbing), mohd sultan (for clubbing), Chinatown, etc. The most frequent place for a visitor to go is Orchard road & suntec areas.

jtayk
09-29-2004, 09:09 AM
Now from shopping to Thai males. lol. May I add them up and make it male shopping. lol. I think there are equally good and bad guys in every country. So I cannot sum up what Thai guys are like cause I have seen both types in Thailand. My bf is very gentle by the way and he has dark skin which isn't really my type. But I love him anyway cos he is just very polite and caring. For the bad ones I always see them at the office, the selfish, rude and lazy, I guess they might not be like this to their gf.
But nowdays there are a lot of pale ( light ) skin Thai-Chinese guys and they are cute. The dark skin, with very Thai look don't seem to do well in entertainment bizz. So you will see a lot of Thai martial artists films featuring Thai looking guys, and the cute and non sense teen stories will feature the cute face Thai-Chinese guys.

09-29-2004, 04:34 PM

Hey, I don't think it is fair to make judgement on thais and sporean males just based on their nationality. Their nationality don't affect how a guy treat a lady. Either the guy treat a lady well or he just being an idiot. So bottomline, it's entirely based on that individual guy how he think and treat a lady.
Oh poor fei! They aren't gentle yeah!? Just grab and get a gentle guy next time. That'll do it! :bleh:

Well, unless he's not that great after all in your personal opinions, but I sense of a rare man who loves you as much as your dad loves your mum.

Are you crazy saying that it's not too crowded ?! I totally have no space to walk and breath. I don't think it's that big, it still the same wide but gain more people. May be it's up to the time and weather when you go there.

neena >> How long you will be in Thailand and you mean you gonna go all those places ?! :excited: What is exactly month you will come ?
The must-going place in Bangkok : Siam Square/Maboon Krong(MBK)/Jatujak weekend market/Saunlum Night Bazaar
Pattaya : There are so many beaches but the best place will be Jomtien beach

neena - Chaingmai and Chainrai I guess you have to visit mountains ( in Thai we called "doy" for the top of the mountain ) to have a good view and see the natural surroundings. And visit Elephant homes which I only know exist in those two provinces but not sure where.
For Pattya go to Koh Larn ( Larn island ) the nearest and easiest to visit of Pattaya cos the quality of water and beaches there is a lot better than in Pattya. There's also many sports activities in the island: water sports, shooting etc. A day trip is worthwhile.
BKK Pam already told u. Those places are for the crazy shoppers.

Hey everyone.. I am going to Bangkok in about 2 weeks time!
May i know whether there is a place (night market) known as su-hum-put...
thats roughly the sound of it.. May i know whether u all have any idea what i am talking about. haha.
seems to be a U-shaped market, somewhere near a canal... i am not sure too..
anyway, where is good for spa or massage, where it is good and the pricing is not expensive?
think i will spend most of my money on shopping.. haha..
Anyway, any wholesaler places where i can get clothes, bags etc at cheaper price?
Thanx for any information provided!

I haven't heard of the u shape market and the name you gave is not familiar....Spa or massage normally available in hotels and resorts, I think most of hotels have them. Shopping in Thailand is not expensive if you don't go to the department stores for brand names. Jatuchak weekend market, Suan Lum Night Bazaar ( a place that Jay always drop by to shop when he is in Thailand ) Siam Square ( opposite MBK ).... erm... These are the must visit shopping areas of BKK that I can think of so far.

lol Esther I think what you are talking about is "Sa-phan Put" (pronounce sound) You can take tuk-tuk to there
Actually Spa/Massage is quite expensive for us teenagers in BKK, price will depends on how luxury the place is. If you wanna try Thai massage, or foot massage with a moderate price you can find it at MBK and Siam.
Wholesaler place, you may be go to "Sum Peng" There are a lot of accessories/toys/bags/clothes/etc.
masterxkae I wanna go to Causeway Bay too, yah I wanna drop by Ed's shop hehe
