yes that is really her. well, ur right. in SG it is illegal for underage smoking n since she was only in junior college, i suppose she'd be either 17 or 18 then. btw, i got the photo from Kazaa by accident.. wanted to download something else n i guess i clicked on that and...wow.. thats her.

since we'r talking about her.. is it just me or have u all realised her really weird way of pronouncing while singing.. i think it's very much forced out. i dun see the purpose of her doing it cuz it's irritating? she claims its cuz she's english speaking so her chinese is weird.. well.. most of us are english speaking too and dont force out a weird chinese accent. she speaks chinese fine.. but sings in chinese...not fine. it ruins her good songs. even celest pronounces much better

Anyway, I don't think she's so popular that people will wanna edit her photo in this way. Besides, putting a cig in her hand won't affect her too much in any way. She can just give the Sun Yan Zi excuse of "I was a bad kid but I've cleaned myself up now!"
If someone were to do something to her pic, they'd probably make her naked!
And a pic like this shouldn't be too unattainable. Singapore is so small, she may just be a friend's friend's friend's friend...
RJC... she must be kinda smart then. Heard that her ex boyfriend is the Singaporean model who had a modeling stint in Milan.

i dun think the picture is doctored in any way...it looked so real...but i can't really blame her....girls that age can get really curious about everything...including smoking... :wacko:
smoking definitely degrades her image..she always potrayed a kind of "guai guai" type of image. but she still has her looks so i guess it wouldn't really matter. didn't know she was from rjc though. she must have been damn smart then.
sigh..so jealous of her..can actually be zhou jie lun's shi mei. jay even made this feather like necklace for her once. saw it on tv and she was like pushing him away and he pretended to be angry..very cute!

ya not all ppl who smoke are bad, they just stink that's all :) I don't deny I've never tried smoking when I was 14-15 (can't remember >_<). I didn't like it and I smelled like shit so I stopped haha. I don't think I could be near her though cause I can't take the smell. :wink:

anyway, she is not slacked one, my fren said she was really quite bright (afterall, she's from RJ, how slack can she be). At least, she would not shirk her responsibility when doing projects. so maybe she will do better next time, she had mentioned b4 tt her next album will be more "Her" so i hope that she will not be so "ke-yi" in her vocal singing... Jay had said tt her album is worth to buy, hope tt she will not proved Jay's words to be wrong.

i dun relli like how famous ppl r expected 2 behave like saints which dey r not... most of dem r normal ppl, dey r entitled 2 destroy dere lungs if they choose 2 :p

yes, jay said her album is worth buying. but whether or not he REALLY feels that way.. is another thing. because they are from the same company and the company is smart to make use of jay's fame to promote ruien's album. so the "highly recommended by jay chou" thing written on her album, maybe is just for publicity. like.. for example.. someone will be browsing through cds..and spot his name there..and wonder.. "oh jay chou recommends it. might be good" and then they buy it. it's all marketing strategy. i think.

well singapore is so small and u're bound to have frens' frens who knows ruien and yanzi, stuff like that. and yes, i know that they both smoke, even til today, but it's cool, i mean, i hate the stench of smoke but i guess it's their choice really? she jus looks like she's trying to act hardcore/cool in that picture, but many of us would've gone thru that phase as well.. in the case of yanzi, she still sings great and i think she's a cool person, smoking or not. ruien still needs to prove herself further, and yeah, i do agree she should lose that annoying accent...

argh!! i'm from RJ and seeing her like that kinda makes me a lil mad.. i mean she's not just holding a cigarette but it's the whole image she's projecting!! argh!! anyhow i dun think we should automatically conclude that she smokes frm the photo.. cos it's not as it she was actually smoking.. maybe she was posing with something that looks like a cigarettte ( does that sound too naive?) anyhow if she wants to smoke it's a lifestyle choice of hers.. so i dun think we should comment too much on it..
back to rui en and her singing.. honestly i think her songs are quite nice.. i mean besides bai se yu mao.. shi shui and tao yan is really not bad too.. just that i cringe when she pronounces certain words.. like it's just really off.. i dunno if it's just the way she pronounces it or she's simply trying too hard.. i think if she clears that up she'll be quite good actually.. i was tempted to buy her album actually... and another thing i have to admit.. sigh.. she is quite pretty too...
oh about yanzi i read somewhere that she smokes but she's not the heavy smoker sort.. like a social smoker.. is that wad u call it? and hmm i dun think she was frm RJ.. her sis was though.. i kinda knew her sis.. one yr older than me...

Umm...I don't really see the big deal in it or why people fuss about it. Smoking automatically gives stars a bad image, whereas it's the norm for many people. So what if she smokes cigs? It's not like it's illegal. Regardless, it shouldn't have to reflect on her musical career.
I know how hard it is to quit... I have friends who I refuse to be around when they smoke, and at least they respect that. And none of them are "bad people" because they smoke. They just made the mistake of smoking and getting addicted.

i dont believe everyone smokes for no reason at all or b/c they made a bad mistake b/c almost all my friends that smoke, only do it b/c of family problems or other problems that they cant face, but i do think its bad to smoke and yes i too have heard smoking ruins ur voice tremendously and eventually the voice will get raspy....well atleast thats what i have been told.
i think iz not a ciggie... coz no smoke coming out from the ciggie... or iz not lighted? heez :)
