i've been wondering this for the longest time, but kept on forgetting to ask.
but what do those messages on the phone say?

Jay is sitting at the table, beside the road when he got this MMS...
Prediction: You will meet with a watery misfortune today!(MMS of a guy figurine drenched)

Second one is when Jay is in the library, when the girl sent him a SMS
Girls in checkered skirts are the cutest!

Third one is Jay recieved while he was brushing his teeth
Acting cool is bad for health.

This one is sent by Jay to the girl, when they are sitting apart in the canteen.
Handphone without receiving SMS, is meaningless(As this is phrased in Cantonese so I am not sure if I had gotten the meaning corret....)

MMS sent from Jay to the girl,

i saw a clip of this video..not sure if its the MV or a phone commerical...what i dont get is that the girl was speaking in cantonese in a university in taiwan and jay was talking in mandarin....maybe the one i saw was a HK version?

so most likely it was made in HK?
cause lip reading the guy sitting next to the girl in the canteen when she spits, most likely he said "what's the matter?"...

so yeah.... and when Jay read's his MMS, the background voice is in Canto.
while the Girl reads her MMS, the background voice is in Mando....

Most likely the ad is split apart anyways, they won't run such a long ad in HK...


oh, and who thinks the girl looks like Gillian, from Twins??? I do!!!

yeah the commercial is made in HK for this phone company one2free. I dropped by a store and got a brochure w/Jay & Karen's pix on em. hehe

i saw those CMs when i was in HK.. grr made me hate Karen (the girl) lol. You know how hard it is to see the commercials? really hard. they played it in parts. 1st part 2nd part and 3rd part.. they didn't make a 4th part when I was in HK.. and I don't know if they have it now. but obviously one2free didn't have enough money to play the CM that often because i can only see it 3 times a night during prime time t.v =P and after a few days the CM stops playing and plays a different part.

well, when Jay talks of course it's in mandarin but Karen speaks in cantonese.

and Karen isn't very pretty to me la. So I don't think that she looks like Gillian at all, maybe because of their short hair they look alike? But I think Gillian is pretty and cute looking.

yah the commercial started sometime in early august 2002 or something.
they purposely split the thing in 3 parts so that ppl will pay attention to the ad
(they also have huge poster ads everywhere on the street in hk).

also they actually have some really long ads in hk (rich companies)

i really couple years ago
a similar cellular service company had 2 commercials for Leon Lai
they went on for like a minute or so..
(though it didn't really show the true use of a cellular phone.. like in jay's video)

(oh wait.. is jay encouraging ppl to send sms during class time? haha~)

I'm not sure which ones you mean but he does say 'mow lui' (pronouciation in cantonese) which means 'meaningless, waste of time'.

I had that same question a long time ago. Jay leans towards her and says something like "Wo liao." It is mandarin meaning about the equivilent of "What? You got nothin better to do?" I forget what the literal translation was. anyway, you get the idea. I'm sure a fluent mandarin speaker will correct me here if I'm wrong. I'm usualy right though.

When they're by the pool and the cute girl does the same thing when they are about to kiss she says the same thing only it's in Cantonese.

i think the 2 characters that you are referring to are "wu liao", which means silly, senseless, etc. basically saying how it was a waste of time for her to do that. hope that clears things up. =)
