Silly rabbit!
It's an old movie :P
Well, old in HK.

I'm worried about the US release. It'll just perpetuate stereotypes about Chinese people... they took some really freaky looking people and put it in that movie >.<

It's old in HK? pssh When an asian film gets to U.S. the dvd version of the film is probably out in asia alrighty.

its stupud comedy..and yes, a very old movie...i bought the vcd 3 years ago..haha

but i like it because soccer is one of my many passions...

as for the english release...i saw the trailor, and it is dubbed...which makes it sound HORRIBLE...haha im sorry...it just sounds so bad dubbed..

and about Zhao Wei being bald, she is only blad for a last scene at the end, the rest of the movie, which really, she plays a rather small part, she has hair...but is suppose to have a very ugly face -_-;;

This is the website where i found the trailer.

I was just watching the MV for Yi Fu Zhi Ming, the MV makes the traid or mafia or whatever look so tempting and cool. And the italian star and jay were put up a very great performance. =)

Too bad i've only been to Paris, cuz my dad lives there, has everyone been to Italy?

 ER, I think that movie's old like :wink2: . I have the download version from bittorrent and its really good! I'm not surprise Ebert and Roebert gave it two thumbs up, its actaully a really humerous movie!

And besides, Stephen Chow's in there and any movie he's in, I'm all for it. So to those who haven't seen it yet, go out and watch it!!!! :yeah:

yeah, the original HK version was released near the end of 2001.

prolly one of my fave films ever, i've seen it over 10 times on dvd.
i don't seem to get sick of it.
personally i think it's the best stephen chow work. his sense of humour and idea of comedy might not be appealing to lots of ppl, but compared to a lot of his older works, which to me were mostly stupid and used crude jokes that weren't even funny, this one makes a lot more sense.

This is a comedy that does not include sex.
It will not do well in the US.

Wait... it has stupid looking Chinese people.
It will do well in the US.

i thought the movie was good in some places with the special effects and zany storyline- use of shaolin kungfu in modern times. stephen was charming as a sincere down on the luck guy. however, the scenes that ruined the entire movie were the ones that were just over the top and thus not funny and too insanely violent. like one, the scene of smashing bottles on the friends head. that was suppose to be funny?! next, the scene with local players bringing the hammers and tool to beat them up. how was that funny too??! maybe i just don't get it.
i luv the special effects though with stephen kicking the soccer balls. or particulary the one with zhao wei kneading dough. or the push that sends the car into the it parking space. too bad that i thought the movie fell apart by the time the movie ended.

i think stephen chow's done better movies... i dunno... the movie was ok. maybe i was just in a bad mood when i watched it. but i did laugh in several parts. i like zhao wei. too bad she's bald in this one and has only one scene where she looks pretty. but then again, in that scene she's like crying. karen mak is in this movie too.
i can't believe that they're releasing it in the u.s.... can't imagine its sales being very high... except maybe among chinese people... i guess that's who their targeting tho...

she played a very small part in this movie.

yeah, ebert & roeper gave it two thumbs up.
did vicky actually shaved her head?... i thought it was just makeup.
i think the US will re-release this film in the original language cause the english version didn't do so well (i think that was the reason).

that movie is quite old.. the stereotype thing might be very true in this case.. haha

i mean, come on shaolin?? they'd think china's still living in the feudal times or something..well, there are still shaolin monks, but people tend to associate it with being "not modernized"
