1. I was extremely worried about a certain someone. I'd been talking to her for a LONG time one night, it was really late, and when she felt absolutely horrid... it just burst out, and I had to say it. She hated me for that. Didn't talk to me again for half a year.
2. I was in a relationship I didn't want to be in, and this girl said it to me many times... I didn't want to be mean to her, so I just said it back. Half-heartedly. Half of me wanted to just run away, half of me wished I could just learn to like her.

I'm sure we all wish we saved our "I love you"s (for those of us who have said it), but I think it makes us realize on a smaller scale what things we give away too readily when we're caught up in something, but regret later on. I think it's a learning experience too though, because when you think you love someone, you'll say it to them. But then after that, your definition of love changes so that you'll think you didn't love that first person you said it to. Bah, I'm sure I've abused this phrase sometime in my life too, I wish i could take it all back!

I personally think that "i love you" these three magical words, can only be said to the one and only special person in my life, haha. Saying i love you to family or close friends doesn't count. it is a different type of love for the person and what i think this poll is talking about is the number of 'i love you's that you have said to the person you like/love/show interest in. Hopefully i will be able to say it to my life-long partner and that it styas that way for the rest of my life. I personally believe in marriage and that life-long commitment is the way. I have never said "I love you" to anyone. And if I have it was always just as a little joke. I've never met a person that I really liked enough to say it seriously. It's so easy to put those words into a poem or song, but in reality, saying those words to someone can be very hard sometimes. Why is that I wonder? Is it because we're afraid they don't feel the same way, and we're afraid of being hurt in return? We don't get a reciprocal and that hurts because we've tried so hard but end up getting nothing in return. Is that it? Perhaps that's one reason why. I don't know.
