ya i liked Tension too. Our Story is really nice, i like their "I'll be with you"and "i believe" too. coz they had signed a contract wif david tao, so these few yrs, david tao was concentrating on his album and had no time to do theirs, their album was put on hold. now both david tao and tension had signed wif a new record label. it was reported tt david tao is also preparing their new album so i think iy shd b out soon :)

they're a group put together by David Tao.. and like each of them is from different places, like one from Korea, the other from US, one from Japan.. etc. that's just what i read though but it's prettty cool. ^_^

My fave songs are Our Story and Goodbye My Love.. when I first heard Our Story I was like wOowWw this is so nice. All the songs on Smart are pretty good in general. Even though they're not shockingly ugly or anything, I think they could be more popular if they were a bit better looking(unfortunately the entertainment business is like this), and also if they could speak better Mandarin.

i am not a real fan of boybands n galbands. Prefer singers like JAY who pretty much hv their own style n thri brand of music. Just tink tt there are too many of these groups nowadays. Alot of them actually come and go fast n dun hv the appeal to stay in the market for long.

actually it was that it's really unusual for boyband members to be in their thirties, but then it's the sound that matters. i really can't wait for their new album, and in my opinion, their songs are so much better than F4's, i just wonder why they aren't given more atterntion in the music industry

Good point, but I think the reason they aren't given much attention is because of the fact that they're older. Much easier to promote groupd like F4 because they are younger and can attract the younger music listeners.

Actually I think John is from Korea. I've read that somewhere before, but I'm not sure if it means he grew up there or he is of Korean background. I don't think he's from Argentina though.

John is Korean, but he was raised in Argentina.

The good thing about Tension, is that they can actually sing, unlike most of the other boybands from Taiwan and HK. David Tao spent 2 years working with them and training them vocally (they'll need someone else to teach them some moves). Their vocals are really tight and they complement each other well. You can hear the harmonies in the acapella version of "Our Story" and "Amen" on David Tao's I'm OK

For the last 2 years, David Tao was working on his own album and now he's working on stuff for Lee Hom and Tension. Hopefully the 2 year break will prove to be a growing experience and they'll come back better in every way.

Fobgirl, yeah, I give them credit for trying. I must admit I'm extra critical when it comes to ABC groups in Taiwan. You know how many there are out there. I dont like the fact that a lot of them go there completely not interested in Taiwan or China at all, but try to make it big there with barely any talents and language skills. What do they take the Taiwanese for? Cash Cow Idiots?

I feel that if you're going to try and make it in a foreign country, the least you could do is some research on the people and the language beforehand. It's just like Coke going into India without knowing anything and insulting the natives and it's culture with it's horrible and inappropriate advertising.

Anyhoo, Tension looks a lot better from that picture. More Cool. Before, they looked like a bunch of dorks!! I used to think that guy second from the LEFT had a deep sexy voice, but he doesn't look good in that picture. And the guy in the middle (Sammo Hung son, of course) gets all the spotlight!! He got a lot better looking.

Oh yeah, I saw them at a club. I stood right next to them but I say anything much to them... they looked like they felt awkward standing there. (The guy on the far right is the korean kid, right?)

exactly. i can't agree more. some of these ABC's don't even know a thing about China or anything, i'm not pointing a finger on Tension, but it seems that a big number of teen stars today are ABC's or something else, and some of these actors trying to make it big, or have made it big don't even know how to properly read/write/speak Mandarin/Cantonese/Taiwanese.

Wow...they've grown up over the last few years. John, the guy on the far right, is the Korean one. I think he learned Chinese upon joining the group. He could be one of those language geeks who can just pick it up. he also knos Korean too, so he's still in touch with his heritage. I always liked Raymond (second from teh left). Yeah, but this is a big cycle. Remember what was cool before the big ABC thing? It was all about Japanese stuff. I remember going to Taiwan for vacations when I was little and everyone was selling stuff from Japan. The new thing is the Korean part. But eventually this will all pass, and then it'll rotate back to the ABCs again.

I think Tension are pretty good (despite their name), their vocals are better than the other new boybands at least. Looks wise (how can anybody ignore looks when it comes to boybands :angel: ) can't say they stand out. But they make up for it with some good vocals and good simple songs.

I heard their newest album and their slow tunes really suit their vocals. Some good songs are, She's Having My Baby and Arigato (both lyrics penned by vivian hsu), Every Step, One life One love...

nupengyou....hehe yep they're bro's. they look and sound the same. but jimmy knows more mandarin than his older brother. they are also sons of a famous actor/director samo hung. he used to be my idol in this jet li movie! hehe, very very old movie. It's with chirsty chung. the movie is like where this house is filled with gas or something, and jet li and this criminal person who gassed the whole house is fighting with towels over their mouths. anyways, i was watching a funny comedian show and tension was doing some taiwanese country dance. jimmy received all the attention because his whole family are celebrities. such as his older brother and dad. they were asking him, "so how's your dad? your brother? what do you think of these girls that just sang?" I was thinking that the other members of the band must feel jealous or left out because jimmy was the one doing all the talking for the band. :cry: they have an amazing voice though, despite their not so good looks. :bigyuck: i'm not saying they are ugly, but they aren't as good looking like energy, beyond, or F4. i think that tension is on the rise of popularity because people are realizing their music is good, and people are not judging them by their looks.

haha, i had no idea what tension was until yesterday! i watched some out-of-date hk entertainment news and they featured in one of the episodes. apparently they're special guests in david tao's concert in hk, which happened in august sometime???
quite amazing really! they have a guy who's fully korean, as he put it, but could speak both english and mando! then there's jimmy whose father is a famous hongkie actor...what a mix of ppl!
they demoed a bit of their harmonization skills by doing a bit of live acapella and sounded pretty good! ok, so they're not so stunningly good looking, but at least they can sing quite well....as compared to other chinese boy bands.

i think theyre one of the few 'boy-bands' out there nowadays that can actually sing~ most of their songs are pretty catchy and i think its really cool that most of them started singing mandarin without really knowing the full language=)

i agree tension can really sing after david tao trained them singing and help them to release their first album. Beside 'our story' is acapella in their first album, they sing 'amazing grace' in acapella in their second album. I don't think they consider boyband because they have quality and substance in their singing . They are 'shi li pai'. You all should buy their third album 'planet love'..it is a nice album. :) Look at how they sing acapella live with david tao in david tao's concert..it is so good!!

Tension is alright. Compared to most boybands, thier music is a little bit more americanized and they can actually carry a tune ^_^. But then again, David Tao helped them out a lot with their albums and all. In music style however, its not very original cause it sounds a lot like any typical r&b/boyband music. If anybody wants to try them out, I'd recomend "Our story", "I'll be with you", "sorry" or "Crazy about you".

i think tension stand out the best compared to other boybands(not include rock bands and hip-hop group) who can't sing...b.a.d also good the rest of the boyband just cannot make it because the rest boybands only 1 or 2 members sing the most the other only for background...they only depend on their exposure on tv to raise their popularity..sorry no offence to any body here. Tension know how to sing acapella the rest can't. I just cannot stand other boybands hope the boyband craze can quickly fade away. please hoping no more boyband coming up.

Yeah.. Tension is great, although I haven't even heard their 3rd album. It came out so quickly! I haven't even finished listening to the 2nd >< And they made us wait for so long for the 2nd! They're like, one of the few Chinese artists who get Koreans copying their songs instead of the other way around, haha

which version of our story you have listened. if you listened to acapella version. Their singing is very good even better than jay(my own opinion..don't shoot at me..haha) because jay can't sing acapella. I think you should listen more of other tension's songs like she's having my baby, i'll be with you, one life on love etc...

The MV with eugene , but there are many versions of this MV. The MV got they sing 'our story', 'wandering with the moon' and 'challenge' is called 'story' MV but with only the song 'wandering with the moon' the MV is 'wandering with the moon'.

yup i watched M.net, jimmy and raymond are the most humourous. did you watch the episodes tension interview the england acappella group 'flying pickets' i think is very good because they can communicate with them very well in english and they are happily chatting together.

you are welcome fish7~I admit i also disappointed at first but we know that they don't like to do remakes. I think their company want the korean to know them by singing a familiar korean song in chinese. I remember got a korean also cover their 'one life one love'. Afterall, heard tension saying they will resing their original song in korean and released it in korea when they go there and do their album promotion. Hope they can be the first chinese artistes to get popular in korea. just wish them the best!

by the way, heard that there's a new mv coming out of tension jimmy written the song 'my angel' and he is the director of the mv.

Tension's alright.. They have a few good songs, one of the more commonly known ones being Wo Men De Gu Shi / Our Story; Planet Love is a pretty good CD. My sister really likes Tension, maybe I should make her post something about them XP

Yeah I like Tension too. They have some really good songs like 'She's having my baby', 'Our story' and 'Love ATM'.

My favourite member is Raymond cos he has the most unique voice.. and he's kinda cute with his squinty eyes.. I really like the look he had in their second album.. where he had the David Tao hairstyle. I like his vocals the most.. John comes as a close second because he can do those 'deep' sounds for their acapella versions.

ooh..you are welcome glad you like it. They use Eugene as their MV actresses by chance. Eugene and Jimmy has known each other quite long when they are under the same japan company. Jimmy before he joined tension has his own japanese band, think just an underground japanese band because he is not artiste that time after that by chance his father famous actor , sammo hung is in US, so he came back to US and went to andy's pub and the story goes on how tension's met. quite complicated the story.

yes i'm the member of that forum, addicted to tension..haha. The forum is good has load of tension's variety shows to download..hehe..you know what tension visited that website before.

forgot to add one website which tension leaves their messages there before, although, it is a chinese board but you can write english there, i saw a lot of his fans write english and tension will be reading it.

So how to different tension's voice if you don't know. Jimmy and brian sing the high-pitch, raymond and andy sing the middle pitch. John is the bass, he sing the low pitch. John's voice can goes as low as you want. heard that they will release an english or korean album when they go to korea for album promotion..eh i'm waiting this for so long ..hope i can listen to tension sing english or korean song.

Yup I bought both of their books. They released 2 book. First book(last year) have both english and mandarin explaination. Haha the book has each of the members signatures and also david tao's signature on the 1st page. The 2nd book(this year released) is mandarin totally and it goes deep onto each of the members lifes. From young, school life, relationship, what jobs they do before, their habits, their first time performance, how tension met, and inside got their precious childhood photos. You know what chris from shin is actually david's guitarist live band when he perform in L.A., chris is not an artiste then.You can find more of their secrets in this book. If you want to know tension better this is the best book.

Although, their 1st book's packaging is better because it has colourful pages, bookmarks, their dairy writing, some photos when they are doing promotions. Inside did explain why John wanted to left tension and causing tension nearly wanted to disband after their 1st album. 2nd book mostly is non-colour except a first few pages of their childhood photos and photos of promotions.

so sad now haven't heard any news of their english or korean album don't know if it will released or not. :worry:

i haven't really heard of any of tension's songs except for a few and i saw like tow of their MVs, i think they;re alright. the first time i;ve heard of them was on ASOS when they went on this one week and sang liek ballads everytime or something and they were promoting their new album. those books sound pretty cool

ooh..the one with the black cover is their 2nd edition album(gai ban). It is the same just that they added 'My angel' MV which jimmy directed it, english song 'tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree' which is produced by brian and when they enter showbiz till now all sorts of interviews. But too bad, the 2nd edition only selling in taiwan. so sad..i can't get it. Although, first book have better packaging but their 2nd book have more thing to read make you know tension better..hoho even can see their childhood photos. I thought mostly in jay's forums seldom people like tension??

you are wrong~they have more fans in taiwan. M.net message board are mostly written by taiwanese but english are normally written by singaporean and malaysian and their taiwan yahoo groups have almost 2000 plus people register and their new album get the most highest position is no.2 place in taiwan g-music chart. whereas, in singapore their popularity is so poor, media didn't even bother to promote them. Normally, tension's album will have at least 2 editions and will not be more than that like other groups.They explained for new edition because they have many first time like first time directing or producing so they think it is best to added in the album to let their fans to keep as soveniers.

feeling puzzled?? They didn't hold any concerts in Singapore not even in other countries but i did watch their performance live when i watch david tao's soul power concert in singapore last year. Singing acapella with david tao. My god~their live is very good! The sound system is very good too, i sitting real in front and it is quite enjoyable can see them upclose..hehe

I think the MV that Eugene is in is called Slowly Walking With the Moon or something..
Their voices are ok, but I don't like their songs much, except for like Arigato and some others. They're really famous for a capella though, I think.

hey the remake is timeless not story..but why you still angry about remaking just one song compare with other artistes who remake so many songs?? They are unique because they can sing accapella which you seldom heard chinese group singing. In person they are sincere to their fans this is what i like about them. Their character and songs are good.

i'm a fan!!! not a huge one, because i thought their second album was rather disappointing, but i really really liked their first one. 'our story' was such a good song, and when i heard them sing it acapella on their album, i was totally blown away! i also admire them because they're all abc's (except for one guy, who's actually korean) but they're trying hard to become singers in asia anyway. a lot of them don't speak chinese well at all, so i think their efforts are truly commendable. they're not a typical boy band - they're not good looking, but they can SING. i hope they come out with more stuff like 'our story' again.

ok but you can't blame them for that, they themselves don't like to cover people songs. It is their company decision since they change to the stupid company EMI. They have no right to say they don't want to do cover song. At least they don't spoilt the song after singing it. I think they sing better than the original singer. Did you notice john, the bass add a little bass toward the end of the song which you can't hear in the original?

i agree, it was better than the original. they just synthesized their voices so well that it's hard to beat. I do understand their situation, but a lot of the disappointment was in the company too. They KNOW Tension is good, KNOW they can compose, know they can find david to help them out if necessary, and STILL chose to cover. This can scar their name a little when they go on the Korea activities (with EMI Korea right? i forgot)

A lot? I can think of one, and that is Timeless by SG Wannabe. One of their songs was written by a Korean composer, specifically for Tension. SS501 or whatever they're called covered the song.

As Quadshock mentioned, Timeless is the only song that they did a cover of. There's Amazing Grace as well but it was an acapella.

They've disbanded awhile ago. Most of them went off to do their own thing after they released their Story album. I think Brian and Andy are in China working but not in the entertainment business. Raymond, I'm pretty sure is still in Taiwan. Not sure about Jimmy and John though.

I think you'v emistaken Tension for some other group. They started off doing covers of popular English songs, but thir first album was already primarily a collaboration with David Tao. If any of them, other than Timeless, were covers they wuold've been an outrage a long time ago. Up until Timeless Tension was the single Taiwanese "boy band" that people everywhere had complete respect for.

5 in a band. Taking guidance and lesson from the great David Tao.
They are simply the best of the sentimental songs.
Cool enough that i still enjoy listening to their last album. A compilation of the best including 5 new songs.

How do i know them?... Oh yea, She's having my baby.
That was the first song i could recall in their all time favorites.
Beautifully composed, hummed and sings.
Especially the accapella version of Our Story.

Sadly i no longer heard from them anymore. Rumors state that their band have broken up and stop singing. Probably its true.

you have definitely made some sort of mistake. The number is one. They have covered one korean song. And it was most likely against their will.

They disbanded quite a few years ago. Many of the members wanted to do their own thing. Some of them are in China now running some sort of a business. They're still floating around but probably just not in the music scene anymore/
