I am sorry I had been really delayed in translating this piece of news. As most of you should have heard by now, Sony Music has been letting word out that Jay will be joining them after his current contract ends.....

However, I did see Jay on the entertainment news yesterday night, saying he is still in the process of negotiation, and that however will not affect the production of the taiwanese 'The One' concert VCD.... coz according to Jay, the rights to the concert belonged to him, and he has the freedom to do the VCD the way he deem fit.....

But, I think the media had been really accurate in their reports, so I think it is highly likely Jay will join Sony..... I dun care where he goes, as long as he is at a place where his music is appreciated, and they dun give him too much pressure to produce an album within a stipulated amount of time..... I dun want to hear music that had been 'squeezed' out of Jay.....

anyway, just read and make your own judgements.........

Jay joins Faye to be under the wings of Sony label

As Jay approaches the end of his contract with BMG, despite assurance from the CEO of BMG earlier this year that Jay still has several albums waiting to be released with BMG, the general manager of Sony Music had already confidently declared that Sony will organise another special press conference, to announce the official signing of Jay under the Sony label, and to welcome Jay into the Sony family.

The GM of Sony, Cui Zhen Dong, recently returned from the luxury cruise on which Faye Wong had officially joined Sony. Still delighted with the successful signing of Faye, he also revealed to the Taiwanese media that they had contacted Jay and Alfa with the negotiation, and Jay will be joining Sony by December. And Sony will not only own the rights to release Jay's albums, they will also be actively involved and invested in the album production, publicity and all activites.

Mr Cui said, " Jay and BMG only have one more album to fulfill, and that is the Live album of the 'The One' concert, which was held here is Taiwan on 28th Sep. It is projected that the album will be out by Nov, by then Jay would have no longer have any contract obligations with BMG. Following that, we will organise a press conference, announcing Jay joining Sony."

Faye, the reigning 'heavenly queen' of chinese pop had her official signing ceremony conducted on a luxury cruise. Jay, at his present state of popularity, will definitely have a extravagant welcome too. The GM even joked to say, "Maybe we would have the conference in an aeroplane, and bring all the media to a small island for a holiday?"

Jay and David in the same company? Sony declines to comment

The two talents of the Taiwanese pop music are likely to become fellow colleagues in the same company!

Under the label of Sony, there is Faye Wong, Lee Hom, Coco Lee, Harlem Yu, F4 and many other 'heavenly kings and queens'. Should Jay join in in Dec, this would further strenthen Sony's hold on the current Taiwanese music market.

However, Sony may not be easily satisfied with their current strength, Sony's GM hinted that they are currently actively seeking out another talently artiste, and urging him to join Sony, and this person had also appeared in Jay's concert. The media were wondering if that artiste is David Tao? The GM declined to comment, except enforce that as long as he/she is a talented artiste, Sony will definitely try to invite them over.

WOW... Bug companies... I hate them.... I hope Jay stays at BGM... I dunno, But i hate the idea of big companies... more workload, Jay might just not be treated liek the way he used to when he was in BGM cause there are so many stars in the big company.. But nomatter what, If David Tao joins in as well, it might be pretty good cause i really really wanna see the two of them work together... maybe pull in Vincent Fang well and create a helluva extravaganza.

another positive thing will be that Since Sony is a big company, maybe they will have more capital, and they can spend more money in making Jay's Album... higher quality music, Better MTVs and the exact opposite might just happen...

Ah... I'm fickle minded.

I don't like the idea of a big company either... :?

i agree with aeris
they will probably put pressure on him to release albums quicker and possibly more perfomances.

sony = big company
big company = quantity rather than quality

I think a bigger company would care more about the image of an artist also... you think Sony would try and change Jay's image?
