All my freinds in school love him. They think he's a king. They keep singing his 'She Bangs' song over and over again. I managed to tolerate it for a while but now...It's staring to get on my nerves!
When I watched his audition clip, I actually felt sorry for him. And then suddenly, he rose to fame. Sometimes I wonder, do people actually take him seriously or is he just a joke to them? If he's a joke, then my heart goes out to him...But if they're taking him seriously, I have no comments.

i think that william hung is a normal person made special by this audition.i admire his courage a lot..

I honestly feel sorry for the poor guy. I hear that he might be going to Hollywood, and the sad thing is that he thinks everyone is taking him seriously, when in actuality everyone's just getting a kick out of an asian man attempting to sing ricky martin and shake his bon-bon. It's absolutely ridiculous, even William's die-hard fans know deep inside that that man does not have one ounce of talent in him. I think it's been drawn out way too long. I mean, I admire his courage, but seriously...there were lots of other sucky people on American Idol and they're not all turning into celebrities!

hey peeps. lols.. i seriousli dun find it funny when he sang she bangs. i missed the show actually, but luckily, i watched the show in his fansite. lolz. it wasn't really dat amusing as i thought, except when the way he moves when he sang, the way simon dey all laughed.. i then find it alittle.. funny? and my classmates exaggerated alittle bit more. lolz.

but i do lurve the way he said. i have done my best and i have no regrets[is it?] . i mean, lolz. he's like e one and onli who said dat and reallie meant that, and ever since dat performance, he .. juz became popular and famous!

i thought it was really funny.. people say it was a disgrace for us asians, but i think his courage and self-determination is really strong! :happy: a little too strong though..
he was hilarious, because his eyes were like, 10 miles apart, and he talked with this little tone.

Yup I've heard of him but I always wonder why he's so popular.. is it because everyone just want to humiliate him or he's actually good?. He's getting really popular now and the radio over here even played the remix version of that song! :glug: I saw the American Idol of his audition too and I didn't think he was that good though he had a lot of confident.

Hrm, well I think he's pretty cool. Yes he was amusing, and yes, he sucked, but I think almost everyone in here agrees that his bravery and confidence is commendable. I don't know what he thinks about him being famous, though. My friends at UC Berkeley see him walking around school and they think it's hilarious hehe. and everyone wants to take pictures with him! AND Jimmy Fallon did an impression of him, now he's really famous! Anyway, as sad as it sounds, soon everyone is going to forget about him. But ah well, he seems pretty happy.

Good luck to him hehe...i dont follow American Idol but i managed to see his audition, and he has a great attitude and a lovely personality.

Like rosiean86, i just hope that he realises that people arent making a big fuss over him cos hes good...you know that feeling when you realise people arent laughing with you, but at you? I just cant bear to see anyone, never mind anyone as innocent as him go through that! :oops:

In a way, if he wants to be a singer, i hope he does get professional training..and then we would have nice but different pop star hehe... :D

i'm a student at berkeley and i have to say that the whole william hung thing got waaay out of hand...it's dying down now in that people don't talk about him all the time, but i know there are still people out there (like my friend's roommate) who are obsessed with him.

g...the infamous "i have no professional training...i did my best and i have no regrets" is such a good way to look back on it, especially after the judges were outright laughing at him. from what i've heard, he's a really nice guy...my friend has actually met him and says he's really nice, not arrogant or anything. i've yet to see him on campus though, and it's funny to hear people get so excited like "oh my gosh...william hung is eating dinner here right now!"

i hope hollywood doesn't disillusion him too much.

He's one hilarious guy. Even though he has no talent, he's made the whole world know who he is. It was really funny once, my teacher was talking about something and he said "the whole shebang" and almost the whole class was like "she bangs she bangs" imitating William Hung. Hehe~

Honestly, I saw the American Idol episode and thought he was hilarious. Hopefully he didn't take himself too seriously tho' cause that would be disastrous. He got his 15 minutes of fame out of it at least. And he seems to be getting something out of it better than the other contestants who sucked. I agree, William's confidence was commendable, he was brave anough to stand and try to dance in front of the judges and the millions of American Idol viewers.

You know what? I was watching TVBS E-news the other day. Ok, I wasn't exactly watching, my back was to the TV, so in fact, I was just listening. Anyway, TENSION were special guests on the show and one of them (my guess is Jimmy)...started singing "She Bangs"...and he later said that William was in fact his cousin. I'm quite sure I didn't hear wrongly. And if it is really Jimmy (son of Samo Hung), it makes sense, cuz his surname is Hung too. :?

I was so curious since you guys are talking non stop about this William Hung guy.... and finally I watched his audition last week. And I was like..... OMGOMGOMG.... HE'S SOOOOO FUNNNY!!! :laughing: Not in a dorky way, but in an adorable way. :)

Well, I think it was quite embarassing (especially the dancing thing), but I'm so proud of him. I'm so proud of his positive attitude. He made me proud to be Asian, actually. Because he has the nicest attitude of all contestant that's being rejected. :D

Well, I will have to say that he has no talent in dancing, but his singing isn't that bad. Like cecilia said, at least he could hold on to his notes (not being out of tunes). :wink2: And his infamous, "I don't have proffesional training but I did my best and I have no regrets." is really what made him so famous.

I just think he's cute. And I disagree to those people who calls him a loser. I think William Hung ROCKS!!! And I think he had made the song "She Bangs" more popular than ever. It's like when you heard "SHE BANGS"... all you think of William Hung, not Ricky Martin. Isn't that cool?

Sammo Hung's last name is 洪 and is romanized according to the Cantonese pronunciation. It's pronounced Hong in Mandarin. William Hung's last name is 黄 and I'm not sure what dialect it's in. Case in point: He goes to berkely (oo..smart asian goes to good school), majors in engineering, has BIG ASS buck teeth stickin out, cant sing, and is overly FOB-ish. While that makes his performance that much funnier (tho scat-girl was just as good :bleh: ), it really casts a sort of negative impression upon all us asians, and our music, partly because most of them haven't heard asian arts like Jay Chou and David Tao.

The first time I watched it it was really funny.. But after having so many people singing She Bangs in school I'm getting really sick of it.. I think that William Hung is just a comodity and that he'll eventually be dumped after a while. After people get tired of this no talent, no looks guy, they'll just throw him away and forget about him. Of course, I could be wrong. He could even become even more popular than Clay Aiken.

However, despite his awful performance, I truly admire his courage saying this on national TV: "I've tried my best and I have no regrets." That makes him different from all the bad singers on AMI.

Pretty crazy man.

they are just joking william hung is not jimmy's cousin..the other member of tension are just making fun of jimmy because he and william share the same surname..jimmy just 'pei he' them and reply yes he is my cousin..haha anyway it is just a joke!

i saw the audition for AI, and i laughed myself silly watching him sing, but i was amazed by his attitude. he never seemed sad or upset about not getting in. the comments made by Simon only rolled off him. for that i respect him alot~!
i think that is why alot of people respect him. i dont really think its all a joke on him.. i think that people are giving him a chance. i feel he deserves this opportunity.

Thanks for the website SQuall. I couldnt even find a good site on him and this was the best one so far. I watched She Bangs music video and it was sooooo funny. Especially at the end. You guys should go watch it if you havent already. He was on the Late Night show with Jay Leno but i only watched half the show and i was trying to stay awak to watch William Hung perform but I fell asleep. I like the fact that it was a Ricky Martin spoof, and NO - his singing has not improved. His rendition of 'I believe I can fly' is extremely excruciating. I listened to his album yesterday - some of the songs are unbearable. But I like his version of the now-famous "She Bangs" and "Shake your Bon Bon" (notice the similarities?). However, on a bad day, stay away from "I believe I can fly" and the Elton John tracks. :oops:

I don't think this album is worth buying at all. I heard that some ppl were buying it for the DVD. Hmm.. :dry:

hes an engineering student. And even tho he says music is his passion...so what. He had his 15 minutes of fame as the worse singer on American Idol (or as they portrayed him, and as Simon said) but the only reason i think he is sticking around, is not his own.

I would imagine it would be more of the fault of the record label, that wants to make easy money off him. They didnt hafta do a talent search for him, quite frankly, his talent is very limited, but he can get a certain type of audience entertained, a large enough audience that its probably extremly profitable for the record label. They dont need to give him singing lessons or anything, just give him a mic, and let him do his thing, while they roll in the dough.

Now i dunno his fiancial status. But no college kid is rich. Im sure Will is smart enough not to go for this singing thing full on, its more like a side job for him, to make money for college i would imagine. Anyone smart enough will tell you that in one year, William Hung will be but a memory and his cd hidden in the back of some nerds cd collection.

So basically, dun blame it on him entirely. Hes a smart kid i imagine, and hes not doing it fame and fortune. Just a side job to get some money for college. Thats my take on it.

Actually JDA, American Idol reaches audiences beyond the US ya know. We get it here in Singapore too and everyone, practically anyway, knows of him, including my father, who cares nothing for popular culture, and my aunts. :) And we are in Singapore.

I think he's exploiting that stupid "I have no regrets" line. Read this really scathing review of his album in the papers (half a star out of five, for audacity :laughing: ) and apparently he went something like, "Thank you for buying this album" in one of the tracks. And there was also an article on him which I read, and apparently he has scripted answers ready for interviewers. The journalist wrote something like, "Hung flips through his scripted answers, muttering, 'What's my answer to this...'"

The question was on his thougts on allegations that he is perpetuating racism and his answer? "Oh, I am doing my best, I am just doing my best, I don't care what they say."

I mean, talk about overkill. My heart was with him but now I just find him sickening. Not even funny anymore. Saw snippets of the She Bangs vid on TV and it was excruciating.

Las Vegas, NV - Kitschy American Idol Star William Hung, famous for his botching of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs,” was found dead yesterday, apparently of an intentional heroin overdose. The announcement of his death sent shockwaves to the tens of people who still found him funny.

Ironically, Mr. Hung was found by a VH1 camera crew sent to begin filing “William Hung: Behind the ‘Music.’” Viacom immediately decided to rename the special: “William Hung: fifteen minutes till death.”

Friends of Mr. Hung say he had become despondent in recent days. “I don’t know, it’s just so sad,” said Ming Tse, one of Hung’s former classmates at Stanford, “I heard him the other day on Snotbubble’s Morning Madhouse; he kept trying to make William say things like ‘me so horny’ and ‘hey sailor’ while playing the sound of a bomb falling. I just know William was hurting inside when Snotbubble got him to say, ‘you wanna some-e egg foo young-e.’ It was so sad. I just think he was tired of the commercialization of it all.”

Other friends, who had lost contact with him in recent weeks, feared he was becoming too “Hollywood.” “I’m not surprised he was on heroin,” said Hung’s engineering cohort Melvin Samples, “I mean just two months ago we were out at our usual corner table at Smitty’s, and William actually went and talked to some girls. The next thing I know he’s doing shots with some hipster guys; they were calling him ‘Long Duck Dong’ and making him say ‘au-to-mo-bile.’ From what I hear, it’s not a long leap from that to heroin addiction.”

Stanford’s hippy population immediately misconstrued the situation and adopted Hung’s death as a pet cause. “He was a victim of the corporate greed-machine, just like Kurt [Cobain] and Eddie [Vedder, who is actually still alive],” said one dreadlocked mourner outside the engineering department at Stanford University, where a makeshift memorial had been set up, “he just wanted to sing, and Fox decided to turn him into this joke, man, this fucking joke. They just ate him up and spit him out. Fucking Bill O’Reily. I think it’s because he was against the war.” The last comment is apparently in reference to the fact that Hung once answered “no, thank you” when asked whether he was “for or against the war in Iraq.”

The Las Vegas police released part of his suicide note. It read, “I have no reason of living . . . my art which is my importance to the best everybody laugh to . . . I make end here . . . goodbye world of cruel.”

Although Hung’s immediate family disowned him seconds after his appearance on American Idol, it is believed he has an aunt in Toledo, Ohio who will take care of funeral arrangements.

yes, he did gain weight... recently, i saw an old clip of him when he's performing on AI and he was a lot thinner... i think he gained at least 15 pounds!... i did recognize him, but his appearence did shock me... i guess luxury made him gain weight. :wink2:

I have utmost respect for this guy! :D He held a concert in Singapore where all the proceeds went to a kidney foundation. I'm sure most of you have heard all the interviews and etc done by the media and there's really nothing to hate about this guy. I know, he can't sing but his humility and his courtesy towards other people is really something to shout about...
