YOU GUYS HAVE TO CHECK OUT THIS MAN NAMED SEO TAIJI. He's awesome. In my opinion, Jay's great and everything but his stage prescence is no where near this man. This man revolutionized Korean music. The tenny popper Boa and Shinhwa are absolutely no comparison to him. I love his new album. If you guys can get touch of the song Ultraman you know what I am talking about. He writes his own stuff produces, arranges, and in addition writes his own lyrics. He's awesome. You guys might not agree with me, but I think he's got major talent. He just had a concert with Korn and he got major praise from the lead of Korn. You never know, maybe he'll end up as an international artist. To me I truly don't think Jay can make it on to the American pop scene. Seo Taiji on the other hand is another story. His music fits and the things he deals a lot with social issues. To me Jay's getting boring, his new stuff like Gui Ji and Duan Le De Xian are really good music, but it's just a typical Jay song. Jay needs a change... I really don't get why his stuff is RnB... I don't think his stuff can be considered RnB maybe Chinese RnB, but I wish there are more creative things from him like Shuang Jie Gun. Well that's my opinion.. if you guys want Seo Taji's songs just e-mail me. Seo Taiji is amazing. Or check out his site: www.seotaiji.com I'm not sure if his old stuff is on there.. his new album is a totally different style from his old ones. Go to soompi and solid07.com and seach kazza. i know they have some of his stuff up.

Edited: I've uploaded two of his songs or three I don't remember into my briefcase. Just go to yahoo.ca and the briefcase section.

Lisaki, I don't get the point of naming that topic just to get our attention.

Proper naming of threads is practiced here at jcnet. :wink2: If you like to have a discussion about Seo Taiji, rename this thread. :wink2: Use the edit button or have a moderator rename it.

And dissing Jay in a Jay forum?

agreed, kahel.

lisaki, thanks for sharing with us about this Seo Taiji. i'm sure he's very talented as you've stated. maybe you can actually provide the website for us or go ahead and upload some songs for us to listen to. and we can be our own judges for this guy's music.

as for your comments about jay, i don't wanna get into a debate with ya or anything. but i'd like to point out that the songs Gui Ji and Duan Le De Xuan were written specifically for the movie, Hidden Track. so, i see nothing wrong with it being a "typical" jay song. the purpose was to illustrate the emotions and events that took place in the movie, and for that, jay has done a superb job. :wink2: so, i don't think you should judge those two songs in the way you have cuz it's a bit unfair to jay. his YHM has changed quite a bit from his previous albums already, and i'm sure his next album will contain new attempts in song-writing, musical arrangement, and production. :D

well, i can't comment on this Seo Taiji until i'm provided with more info about him. if you want us to be interested, then give us the links and such right here in your post(s) where we can access his info readily. i'm not gonna conduct a search on this guy myself, ya know... :wink2: cuz after all, i'm a jay fan.

and for future reference, just label a topic normally. there is NO need to get our attention in this way. plus, it's so subjective. you may think Seo is an artist better than jay, but not everyone may agree. so, just try to be a bit sensitive when you're voicing your thoughts. you can be honest with your opinions, but it's good to know who your intended audience are. =) i'm gonna edit your topic title.

lisaki...wow i don't know whether you're trying to get our intention or you really very brave ...
you're trying to say that SEO TAIJI is a lot better than jay at jc net??
i know you're trying to promote this guy..
but to mock jay in front of his fans??
anyway i haven't heard SEO TAIJI so i can't give you my opinion...
and like everybody was trying to say in this forum...
i think every artist have their own styles and their own fans... :yeah:
and you can't grade an artist that he/she is better than the others... :)

Yea, if this guys have the talents, it's well up to us to judge. But it seems like he not really well know eh? If he gonna be an international artiste, he should be at least well known to most of the members here. So far, i seen only one.

You said this guy, Seo Taiji recently changed his style in his new album? I dont think a artiste should change his style so often just to be in the trend. And about Jay always keeping to his style? At least he can compose a wide variety of songs and on different themes just based one style. He kept to chinese based cuz well, he just want to show that we, Chinese can be on par with the Americans too.

And yes, maybe you should reconsider you attempt of dissing Jay in a Jay forum. You can promote Seo Taiji but you dont hafe to drag Jay into the picture to prove the worth of Seo Taiji.

yup lisaki, it's a good thing that u admire seo tai ji but u said he's better than jay in jay's forum??? LOL. :p we won't agree with u (esp. me). for me jay is #1. but since u said seo is better than jay, ok i'll check it n judge it. maybe u rite, but pls dun say something bad about jay in jay's forum. okay... it's not good.
n about jay go international or not, well. it's not only depend on his own skill. but also depend on the management how they pack him in a better way by the time goes on. n i think he oredi go international now. coz i seen so many non-asian ppl here who know n like his song. but it just no promotion about him n his music out there. so u can't judge that he can;t go international. im sure he'll.

Hey, everybody... give lisaki a break! Lisaki likes Seo Taiji so what?! Let's not get heated up on this... heheh... sure, not extrememly wise to diss Jay on a Jay website, but a love for something can make you do crazy thing at times you know?

Yea, if this guys have the talents, it's well up to us to judge. But it seems like he not really well know eh? If he gonna be an international artiste, he should be at least well known to most of the members here. So far, i seen only one.

And knock, I don't think its "up to us to judge" if Seo Taiji has talent or not, please don't categorize jc.net members like that.... we should respect an artist for what they contribute to the music industry, I love Jay as much as you do and its not cool for Lisaki to diss Jay like this, but  I don't think you should jump the gun like this.... not everybody likes Jay just like not everybody likes Seo Taiji u know? :shifty:

Hey, all guys I like Seo Taiji very much. I just knew him 5 months ago from his sixth album. I think he's a talent artist and he's one of korea's artists that influent to korea's music industry. He changed the music world of korea.

Anyway, even I like him and thought he has a great talent. But I don't think like you, lisaki. I don't think he's better than Jay. Because both can't compare with each other. They're great in their own way. And the style of music of both are different. Can't compare...

Music is subjective so you can't really compare Jay and Seo Taiji's musical talents. Jay for me, is the whole package. His talents, his looks, his personality, his style, his values, his fillial piety, his commitment to (Asian) music and everything else...I don't know Seo Taiji...so i won't judge him. But I can't find another person who has all the qualities I love in Jay. So there!

I dont know who's Seo Taiji and im not interested in knowing more about him, since he needs people to advertise him. If he's really good, there's no need for u to say he's better than jay, and we can judge about this ourselves.

oooh..old thread. :?

anyhoos, im fond of Seo Taiji but like others have already said, its impossible to compare him with Jay. :glug:

for one, he formed Seo Taiji & Boys and released his most famous song 'Nan Arayo' in 1992. he then disappeared from the music scene with self-imposed exile to america for 2 years before returning to go solo. and hes come and gone since...

there are quite a few similarities between them though. both have introduced new styles (controversially in taijis case), both produce their own music, have male and female fans, arent that spectacular vocally....theyre both iconic, but in different eras.

i guess, unless youre a fan of korean gayo (moden kpop), you wont really have an interest in seo taiji or realise his significance. :wink2: likewise, there arent many koreans who are aware of Jay's significance to chinese music. theyre both amazing and i feel im lucky to be able to experience both of their music. =)

I was just browsing through some of Taiji songs. I agree that you can't compare Jay and Taiji - they have totally different styles. Now that I have tried some of Taiji's songs, I still like Jay better -- but this is because i'm not too fond of Taiji's style :bleh: what can you expect from a jay fan

i downloaded one songs from taiji&boys in download thread...mmmmm

mmmm it's just OK for me, perhaps i must listen several times....but "i know" got nice melody in refrain's part.....

but compare to DBSK tri-angle album which recently i like to hear, i still prefer DBSK songs..whahahahah perhaps becoz all the songs is easy listening..

and to me, taiji songs and jay songs different type and each singer has his own unique....so no comparison please?!

jay is jay

tai ji is tai ji

In terms of sophistication, maturity, and overall handling of his songs, Seo Taiji is better than most of the artists mentioned on THIS FORUM. If I were multilingual (meaning, if I knew Korean in addition to wht I know now) I'd expect Seo Taiji to be somewhere along the lines of Hong Kong's Wong Ka Kui (from Beyond), and that, my friends, is pure genius.

Jay's music is more like: I will make the song this way because it will sure to be a hit. Whereas, Taiji would probably be more like: I want to do a song like this and if they like it, they like it.

and in my opinion, the latter is a much better attitude for a musician; the first is more of an idol and a product than anything

Oh God people... DO NOT JUDGE TAIJI UNTIL YOU HAVE BEHELD HIS GODLINESS... my goodness! He is so great, so great... but then again, all that revolution came waaaaaay before H.O.T. and Shinhwa and all the bubblegummy groups... before Kpop was popularised in the rest of Asia, so I don't expect many people to know him, what he was up against and his influences... unless you're into the evolution of Kpop.

I'm really surprised there are people in this forum who knows (and loves) him too!!! He was my first love... Actually, I can empathize with lisaki and why she said what she said... totally... when you are windswept by Taiji's power, you don't really remember much else... but Jay is now my King... yeah... so I don't compare. As Jay says “那音樂來比來比去,那麽愛比,我就去便利商店,買紙筆給你”。xD

yea... seotaiji is an artist who is very "godlike" in the k-pop business. he revolutionalized k-pop with his new styles (in both fashion & music)! :excited:
but he became semi weird after he ended the group seotaiji & boys; he went into alternative rock which is still great, but just not in tune with my taste... :worry:
if you are going to compare jay with taiji, i think you should look at the artistic ability (taiji wrote most, if not all, of his songs) & in the artist's time frame (as mentioned before, taiji's generation is waay before the H.O.T., Sechs Kiss, etc. craze). i really like them both and can't choose!
