In the past I used to like TATA when she was about 14 yrs old. At that time her look was like an innocent girl. She was regarded as an amazing singer...everybody wanted to be like her including me!! When she grew up, her look changed. she had more confidence..she tried to make herself become sexy *yuck* and has been trying to drag everyone's attention, seeing from Samakom chomdao variety show. She said that she flew from the foreign country jz to have an opportunity to interview with Jay *liar* :dry: She's always an overacting person..anyway do u guyz think Paradorn is handsome? TATA said " I've never seen a smart guy like Paradorn before. His appearance really attracts me..he is so handsome!!!"
Ughhh...i'm gonna throw up :retard: ..i have to admit that she is really talented (when she was a young girl...she won the singing award, i can't remember wht it is) though i dislike her, her debut single, sexy :realmad: naughty :rasp: bithchie :boxed: ( she tried to explain herself), is stuck in my head, anyway

Yeah, I used to like her a lot!!!! when she released her 1st album, which was long long time ago, but now I feel urrrr...to her...what can I say -__-'' haha...Anyway, about her inter album I think this single is OK for me. The first time I heard, I have no idea at all that it is her song! :glug: Her accent is great!! (Of coz...she's a "Luk Krueng"!! yeah right..).

Okie..I wish her good luck w/ her album eventhough I "Mun-saii" her mak mak. hahaha...and I have to admit that her song is stuck in my head since the 1st time I heard and now I keep singing it all the time. :wacko:

But the MVs...why shot at Taiwan? Why the director must be Ken Fu? :dry:

wow, reading your posts, guys, something tells me that Tata is not so cool anymore in Thailand huh?!

I don't know much about her songs but i saw her movie, O-Negative, on Cinemax, and I loved it! I also like the actor there (forgot his name!).

As for her STILL trying to make it international, I don't think so! She has done it before but failed right? She may be pretty, being of mixed heritage but still Asian artists rarely make it big in the Western music scene...

i used to like her too, when she was still tomboyish--still innocent n cute looking...

i stopped liking her when she went out wit this Thai actor called Oliver Phoopat and wit Paradorn, which caused controversy...

n masterCP is right. Tata isn't still trying to be international, coz she ALREADY went international when she sang "Reach for the Stars" at some sports event. Plus, she was on the cover of TIME mag two years ago. but in terms of the music scene, she is working hard to become an internationally recognized artist...
anywayz, i guess the trouble wit Tata is that she OVEREACTS alot and the reason why Thais hate her so was because she was in a relationship with Paradorn. She did a press conference about the relationship without discussing with Paradorn's parents first about the relationship n that was clearly the biggest mistake. She went on Samakom Chom Dao 'bout her relationship too despite Paradorn's parent's unapproval of their relationship...ppl were very "mun sai". And later, they broke up...
anwayz the most popular word that Thais describe her OVERCONFIDENT and OVERACTS in a SHOWY kind of way. thatz what disgusts Thais the most, i guess.
n when Jay came to Thailand, the translator for Jay told me at a Jayonline party (to celebrate Jay's arrival for Jay fans in Thailand) that Tata released a rumor that she n jay went to Yaowarat (Thai Chinatown) together...n that was totally not true...i guess the sony music ppl was trying to promote them both or something...so Thai Jay fans are saying that since she recently broke up wit Paradorn, she wants to get jay next...

dun even talk about the Samakom Chom Dao wit Jay...clearly, she was trying so hard, too hard actually to get Jay's attention, saying things at the wrong place at the wrong time...say the same for her lil dialogue at the MTV Asia Music Awards, she introduces herself "Hi, I'm Tata" something like that...and she cuts in on Gareth Gates when he was trying to say something...STUFF LIKE THAT...i mean, it just makes her look bad...

anyhow, i don't hate her or anything but i'm proud that shez like the first Thai to sign a deal wit Columbia records, being an international artist equivilent to Coco Lee. i guess itz easy to be jealous, coz it doesn't happen to just anyone n she even gets to see our lovely JAY
however i think she'll be successful in Asia, but in Europe/America, i'm not sure. i think her style is too Holly/Britney/Mandy, not really depicting any uniqueness or any distinction. besides, the competition is fierce anywayz...

Ok.. I just saw her on entertainment news and she said she like asian guys(might be referring to Jay) she said she interviewed Jay when he went to Thailand and although he don't speak much english, 'Yes', 'No' etc. simple ones are okay to her.. Tells us she likes Jay.. :oops:
And she even mentioned that Jolin danced well and speaks good english.. But she was kinda 'shocked'when the reporter mention that Jay n Jolin are a couple..

She has a bubbly character, but i don't think Jay will like her because of her looks.. If she's really bitchy and everything from what you guys said.. den yup, he might not like her :happy: He's not that shallow :wink2:

I really admire Tata, she puts up with ALOT of stuff from the press... Its rather funny actually, living in Thailand (which I like mind you, just sometimes, well quite often, decisions regarding censorship have me baffled), the cultural ministry seems to care about the most trivial things (no offense meant). :oops:

I think that "Sexy Naughty Bitchy" is actually alot more tame than some of the other artists that get airtime on the music channels... I mean when I think about it, we have singers with barely anything on, some rappers with their big bling-blings and whordes of women who seemingly lust after them "shaking thier booty" in skimpy clothing, singers with explicit lyrics which are degrading to either the sexes, to race, to sexual preference etc... Songs promoting drugs, sex and that kind of lifestyle...

And then there is Patpong and soi cowboy... (don't get me started) :crazy:

Oh, and the whole nipple incident with the cultural ministry because apparently fashion models aren't allowed to show their breasts (Coming from a country which wants to become "The next major fashion capital of the world" :sleeping:

The point is, that there is alot more stuff which is more explicit which does not get censored, and yet, such trivial things (The nipples, her song) are the target of such annoyances, which I simply do not get... Her song does not put anyone down, its simply referring to herself and how she likes to act. I think it just goes to show how strong-willed she is.

So yeah, Tata's cool, she isn't afraid to stand up against such matters and I'm glad that she has gone platimun (Probably to the dismay of the cultural ministry :laughing: ) And I wish her the best of luck :bleh:

i agree with you, but why would they stop? lots of artists (esp. female ones) seem to do way better, when it comes to record sales, if only they're willing to take their clothes off.

i have to admit that i'm not really into thai music, cos i don't understand the language, but from what i've seen from tata young, i can say that she doesn't appeal to me at all. mtv and channel v (as well as some other tv channels) have recently put her new english vid on rather heavy rotation. thus, she seems to get more and more media attention in taiwan these days. for the sake of the asian music biz in general, i really do hope, though, that she won't do well over here. cos if she does, there'll certainly be lots of ppl trying to imitate her (and her skimpy style). :wacko:

Hey her album is actually not bad. For her English debut, it's alot better than Coco Lee's attempt. It is reminiscent of Britney Spear's sugary pop stuff, and alot of the songs have similar R&B beats...but I like track 7 - I Think of You, the only ballad on the album. Her image aside, and the honest opinion of a new listener who knows nothing of her past, I would give the album a 6.5 out of 10. Basically the songs sound good, but it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I agree. Personally, I think CoCo is a better singer, but her English album just sucked. It broke my heart. :cry: So what if Tata's songs sound like Britney's songs. People love Britney's songs, don't they? I actually quite like Tata's English album. I'd probably get bored with it after a while but for now, I still quite like it. I knew CoCo's album would be a failure the first time I listened to it. :oops:

Yup, I have to agree that she is gorgeous. She has the looks (my opinion). But her songs...I don't know about it coz I only listen to 'I Believe' and 'Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy'. I find it ok lah...but the rest of the songs in her album...I haven't heard. Anyway, she's getting more popular.

I think its like more common in the music industry as in if the singers have looks...they do pretty well eventhough they can't sing.

I saw tata's new video, 'i believe', last night. it pretty much has the same feel/look as the 'sexy naughty bitchy' video. and her clothes were prettty much the same too. again she does some dance bits eventho she cant dance :dry: well.

it was funny though how the guy in the mv looked like jay chou at first glance. his face is in shadow when they show him in the video but when u see parts of his face, u kinda think it's jay chou if u dont look closer. (that isnt him in hte video, right? :? )

For example : pink bikini cover with see through , or may I say, a net gown.. Man, she thinks she hot, but I think she's just gross.

We should not judge ppl around, but if you happen to b in Thailand and see tata since the beginning to this point of her career you might do the same. We, ppl here , I am sure won't judge anyone with no proper reason.

Tata lived in Thailand all her life and spoke Thai language properly all along, then when she released her new English album , she could not speak Thai properly now.. and more and more strange attitudes like replied in English to a Thai host in a Thai programme !!! Why?? Why did that? She could speak Thai so well, then all of a sudden, she cannot. Well, this is just a short example I gave you why I cannot stand this person. I do not value someone who forget about her own root and try to be someone else who she isn't.

I'm here in the US (a white guy) and just discovered Thai music last year. One of the things I like the most is a sense of innocence :angel: (or at least modesty) that the Thai songs seem to evoke. I can't understand a word so for all I know they could be singing about group sex on public transportation :whip: - but that certainly isn't how it sounds! Most Thai music is soft and beautiful. Some, (like China Dolls) is upbeat & happy with a pure joy that comes through.

It is really dissapointing that Tata may get famous as the first Thai star here. Who can like someone who tells you they are sexy, tries to be naughty, and is proud of being bitchy? Give me Bell & Hwa any day!! :thumbsup:

Too bad "Sexy Naughty Bitchy" is such a catchy tune and it doesn't seem "foreign" at all. It may actually do well here. It may be doing well now -- I wouldn't know because I'm listening to Asian pop almost all the time now.

Truthfully, I'd probaby like the song more if she sang it in Thai because then I wouldn't understand the lyrics! :laughing:

trishee , thank you for understanding...and have i seen dhoom dhoom? no, i'm not a big fan of john abraham, uday chopra, or Abhishek Bachchan.(the heros from dhoom dhoom) and besides the film isn't my type. i prefer simple love stories, horror, and stories taken place thousands of years ago. yeah...tata singed the english version of the song dhoom dhoom...i listened to it. it was pretty good. she speaks a little hindi in the song. i liked it. :-) :-) i haven't really heard about tata in the u.s. i've only heard about her in thailand, korea, india, and i think singapore. I think it's pretty cool to find white ppl on asian sites like this one and stuff. China Dolls? hmm... i've heard some of their songs...i don't like their type of music i prefer thai rock music...they have some of the best groups out there like clash, kala, etc. :-) :-)

I dont think the M'sian government has banned Tata.I mean i could still see her Sexy,Naughty,Bitchy mv on the tv, it's just that instead of playing the original lyrics, which is "Sexy,Naughty,Bitchy me", they change it to "Sexy,Naughty,Cheeky me".(i think Tata did 2 versions on this sexy,naughty song).

How did I get into Asian music?

I was studying Japanese and watching Japanese TV (with subtitles). The Japanese band, Dreams Come True, had a tv commercial for their CD. I thought it was kind of cool and bought it. Then I looked for Japanese Music online and found a lot more artists like Hikaru Utada, Ayumi Hamasaki, Brilliant Green, Puffy etc.

One day I thought I'd look for more songs by the band, Dreams Come True, and I found the Korean Band S.E.S. with their song "Deams Come True" - I knew Boa was from Korea too so I got the idea to search for other Asian music besides Japanese.

Zaza was the first Thai band I heard. I really liked their smooth sound. China Dolls actually became my bridge to Chinese music with their song "Wo Ai Ni". Infact, those were also the first Chinese words I ever learned - A good start in any language if you ask me! Now I'm studying Mandarin on my own (very slowly) with Pimsleur CDs.

I am amazed at the one-way street that seems to exist in music. There are plenty of places in Asia to hear American & Brit music but the only Asian artists that ever got mainstream airplay are Shonen Knife, Pizziacto Five, and Kitaro. Oh and Puffy did the Teen Titans Theme. Even Asian restaurants here play either traditional music or light rock in English. Though there is a chain of Thai Noodle places in San Francisco playing Thai pop - it felt odd and cool that I knew most of the songs they were playing! :-)

Jedsadapon is ok , but I don't really like him. He is very short in real life, and was quite fat the last time I saw him. rhyslud Nice to see that Asian music is being heard of in other part of the world and by ppl of different culture. Before I like Jay Chou, I only listen to English orAmerican music like those on Billboard chart and ignore the Asian music thinking there is nothing interesting. But after I heard Jay's music, it has totally changed my attitudes. I started listening to other Asian siners like JTL, Seven and Baby V.O.X. from Korea. For Japanese music, I have heard of Shonen knife, too. A long time ago for a funny song like Banana Chips, right? Mika Nakagima's songs are not bad, but I am not into them as much as Jay. lol. Btw. I don't understand both Korean and Chinese. It is the music that attracts me.

For Thai bands, have you heard of Armchair?The music is kind of an easy listening pop rock, I like them and they are very famous here. Clash is Thai leading rock band. AB Normal is also a good Thai rock band. Well, there are a lot, really. Try listening to Armchair, the first album, and the song called Ru Prow? = Really?. It is very good, they received many awards for this song. If you are interested I shall find a link to this song and pm you.

Tata definately not my cup of tea. At all. She just doesn't appeal to me as a versatile entertainer. She relies heavily on her 'sexuality' to break into international market??? Most female artist do that AFTER they established themselves as an international act, sell millions of record worldwide. In matter of fact, she reminds me of someone else we're familiar with-Ms Flaring nostrils with sausage lips. It's not her looks, she's pretty I admit, but when I saw her video clips, I'm like whoa.... my another wannabe alert was shrieking like mad.

I have always tolerated her clips of "Sexy naughty bitchy' and 'I believe' which is annoying but when I saw Cinderella MV, I'm like OMG woman, what are you wearing, and what are you doing with that man??? Until now, I still don't know how the whole MV goes like, and I don't intend to find out.

I know there's a saying that goes "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" but this is too much. The music industry is already tainted as it is with sex, booze and bling bling, perhaps there is no more room for originality in the industry. Sad.

Seems weird dissing her when I'm not a Thai myself. But I just can't take it that she's 'invading' the TV in Malaysia.... ><

I think she's trying too hard to fit into the American mainstreem music and fashion so that she'll be more "famous" and hence more sex appeal cause sex sells. I have no problem with her fashion and stuff, in fact, she's her own woman she has that right to do whatever she wants to do. I just don't like how she's sorta "fake." Imo... I find her emulating J-Lo and I hate artists who have no orginality and change just to fit in.
