I just love Meteor Garden 1! I donno why but I love it soo much that I bouth the freeken dvd for $107.00 well not by choice.. coz they didn't have it in a vcd.. Man I hoped that the Meteor Garden 2 would be good.. but ppl said it sucked.. and after the first episode I stopped watching it coz i knew he was going to lose his memory and fall in love with that one chick who needs to die...

they are expanding the story when there is no place for expansion....

i watched MGII and it's pretty good, it makes a short story really long but it's just as addictive but while watching you'll be like, "why the hell are they doing this? why don't they just do this!?" and they drag some parts and add stupid parts into it, but it has a lot of suspense and it's pretty good so it doesn't really suck ass...

Here's my little review on Meteor garden 2, as much as i like F4.......i was so disappointed!

I finally made it through the 31 discs WITHOUT skipping any minute of it.......all I can tell you is...........DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME / MONEY ON IT!!!!! I was exhausted after watching Mg2.......

Being a big F4 fan........I was sooooooooo sooooooo disappointed. I couldn't believe the SLOW, BORING, TIME-KILLING storyline!!!! OMG!! Why the 28 episodes of torture?

I loved F4 after watching MG1........but what a big crash for me after watching MG2. The whole thing about Jerry losing his memory was just a joke!!! What a waste of time to go through how he learns to tie his shoes, fry an egg.....etc.....just stupid!!! And, Vanness is really just......I don't even know what words I can use to explain this.........he was just so emotional and over-reacting when he couldn't accept the fact that Jerry had forgotten F3. It was really not called for!

And Shan Cai....can't she learn to handle things on her own instead of relying on Hua Zhe Lei??? It's like Lei is her "life saver" or something. I feel so sorry for Lei........he loves her so much, but she will ONLY "use" him when needed. And, man.......he let's her do that!!!!!! What a user!!

And, Ye Sha.....also known as Michelle.......was just really really horrible, she can't even speak Mandarin properly and she can't act. It seems like she has a hard time saying her lines and move at the same time! hahahhahaha I just don't like her.......that's it. No more comments about her....

As for Xi Men, he isn't too bad in MG2.......way more lines to say in 2 than in MG1!!!! And, he actually looks pretty good with a suit on! Too bad they didn't introduce Xiao You back from Canada.......that would've been one sweet love story!

After all this criticism about MG2........I highly recommend that if you do decide to watch it .....watch the first 3 and last 3 episodes......that's all you need to watch to know the whole story.

I really like Vanness after watching MG2........Jerry just went down the drain.......

GUUHHHH I HATED Ye Saw. The ENTIRE time I was like "jia yo San Cai!!" and then later I wanted San Cai and Lei to get together just to get Dao Ming Tsi pissed or something. (Yes I get VERY involved w/ drama series.) Lei is totally perfect.. and his love for her is undivided. He even liked San Cai more than Jing. GUGH.


Anyone watched the NG parts? There was one where Ye Saw messed up and she burst out laughing. DID YOU NOTICE how her laugh there was all loud instead of her usual FAKE giggle? THAT'S her real laugh! And it sounded wayy better than her gay snorts. Wonder why she doesn't want to laugh NORMAL. *shudder* OMG and that part about her being a "princess"???! Could they have NOT made up something more realistic?


I didn't like MG2 because DMS was with that idiot girl the 26 out of the 28 episodes! The first episode was the sweetest because DMS was with San Cai and they're cute together. Then it just went downhill. And the ending was just cliched.

Do you remember the part where Shan Cai and Ye Sha would count 1,2,3 and then turn their back and walk away then cry and cry and cry.......

I agree with Jingle. MG2 was not good. At least MG1 was funny and suspenseful at times. I thought there was a lot of over acting in the second one. But to my knowledge, (correct me if i'm wrong) the original storyline was suppose to have Jerry and Michelle (Yeh Sa) together and Lei and San Cai. However, there was such an uproar in Taiwan that they changed the ending. It was also suppose to be longer than 31 episodes but the show was getting low ratings so they quickly ended it.

But now they want to come out with MG3. Supposedly Vivian Hsu will be replacing Barbie as San Cai. No matter what the case, I say they should just end it here. Sequels don't usually do well.

HE LOOKED SO COOL IN MG2!!! Its bcoz of his hair .. its layered and it has a 'body' now.. unlike in mg1 when his hair was luke Vaness' (one length) but his hair was wavy... so it looked horrible..

IF xiao you got back from canada ...and they continue ther love thing ... ppl would want to watch THAT MORE than Shan cai and Ah Sz .. maybe that's why they didint dare do that .. lol

I'm sorry to all those that love MG. I absolutely hate it, solely because it was based on the Jap manga. It's even stupid how they kept the original Jap names. Taiwan is doing TOO MANY of these dramas, using overated, under-talent *idols*. They're simply copying Japan's idol-making-plans.

MG I was good because it was based on the original manga. But MG II was scripted by Taiwan themselves and Taiwanese drams are REALLY going downhill. They're predictable and dragging. Dragging because they want to prolong the series for the money. It's aboslutely stupid.

10 Things I Hate About MG2

1. The new DMS!!!!!
Gone is the tough guy who’s a real softie on the inside – the DMS that fans fell in love with in MG1 (well I was a HUGE HUGE Lei fan, so I never really gushed about him in MG1 -- was neutral to him…I could see what other pple saw in him even tho I didn’t quite feel the same way myself. BUT right now he’s DEGENERATED tenfold in MG2!!! Became such a wimp and what’s with the bushy hair??? He seems to have lost the x-factor that propelled him to be the popularly known as “top” f4 member!!!

2. Their clothes!!!
Eg. Mei Zuo’s shirts!!! – Vanness looks SOOOOO much better now (compared to MG1 – think rebonded straight hair that hangs, and huge/fat arms), just too bad that they can’t dress him in anything that isn’t polka dotted or flowery….and all the shirts are of the same style – longish and of course – opened wide at the collar…. Tho I must say that he looks good DESPITE the horrendous prints (in case u can’t tell, I seem to be have been converted to a vanness fan – love his album and his mtvs with the cool dance moves!!)
Eg. Xi Men’s horrible suits --- somehow his assistant seems to dress better than him!!! What’s with the pink shirt and blue tie???
Eg. DMS’s po lan white shirt that he wears in virtually every scene, not to mention the jeans with gaping holes at the knees that both he and ye sha seem to favor
Eg. Lei’s wardrobe seems to consist only of crumpled white shirts and khaki pants (from what I remember…)
Eg. Ye Sha and her tops that show off her bra strap….yeah and the holey jeans too
Eg. Well this is not technically “clothes” but I JUST had to complain about Dao Ming Feng’s (DMS’s mom) hair!!! Her “beehive” gets ridiculously high in MG2!!!!!!!!

3. The new Lei!!!!!
The old Lei – the mysterious, distant, prince charming-ish, COOL Lei is now replaced by a sleepy, boring Lei that is no longer the “second male lead” as he was in MG1. In MG2 his role has diminished tenfold (to the size of mei zuo and xi men perhaps in MG1) – he seems to serve only the purpose of appearing randomly out of nowhere to rescue shancai, to pick up pieces of her broken heart, then conveniently gets shoved to the side after that. The new DMS has so much screen time (he’s in virtually every scene!! Be it spain, or zao can dian, or with ye sha, or hanging out with f4, or in office with shancai etc…. it would be fine if it was a lovable DMS but like I mentioned earlier, that’s so not the case) at the expense of other main characters in MG1 like Lei!!! Recall: MG1 – Lei was the one shancai had a crush on initially, Lei picked up the dustbin, Lei being the cool guy who pays the bar owner when other f3 get into rash fights, Lei and his “Dao Li” (invert upside down), Lei as Shancai’s rooftop buddy, Lei at Jing’s party (he looked SOOOO good there!), Lei and Jing on the You Lun (boat), Lei and shancai at Xiaozi’s villa…..etc etc

4. Ye Sha’s giggle!!!!!!
Enuff said.

5. Degeneration of MG2 girls
Just compare Xiao Zi, Xiao You, Jing (fine so she’s in like 2 seconds of MG2 as well) to Mei Zou’s fiancée, Mi mi, AH MEI, the zao can dian’s lao ban niang (female boss)

6. No more “wicked stepsisters” for you to blame and curse
Think Bai He and Qian Hui who made Shancai’s life miserable in MG1 – it’s fun to be able to blame concrete beings rather than fate (that made DMS have the car accident, or Ye sha to have her illness)

7. MG2 is like a 32 episode commercial
Eg. They guzzle pepsi like no one’s business
Eg. Their lives revolve around their Sony Ericsson cell phones

8. The fact that they kept harping about Lei loving to sleep!!!
Eg. In Spain where he flared up at Mei Zuo for not letting him sleep
Eg. When Ah Mei went to look for him to Gao Bai (profess her love)
Eg. When Mei Zuo was bored and went to look for him to go to KTV (heh tho I quite liked the scene….pretty funny, esp the part where Mei Zuo was creeping into the ro

9. DRAGGY
Recall that in MG1 things actually moved along!!! There were many conflicts/little stories that built up quick and resolved quick! Almost such that each disc was a discrete, individual story, unlike MG2 which just DRAGS and DRAGS and DRAGS…..
Tip to enjoy MG2 more: fast forward all the la la che che parts, esp parts involving ye sha!!! Its gotten to the point that when she appeared I hit the fast forward button…..=) made watching it much more enjoyable!!

10. Loss of the MG1 humour and light-heartedness
MG1 was a feel good show…..from the ridiculous yet amusing stunts to “zheng” (torture) Shancai in school to the Bai Chis (idiot) and Ben Dans (stupid) that DMS and SC shoot at each other, to DMS’s lousy Chinese (recall the liao vs le debate), to SC working as a maid in DMS’s house….there was a lot of light-hearted moments that MG2 lacks. MG2 tried to be much more proper and serious, and thus lost the charm of MG1. Even the scenes between SC’s parents – so amusing in MG1 – became much longer/draggier and less amusing in MG2.




10 Things That Salvaged MG2



1. The all-new, improved MEI ZUO!!!!!!!!!!
Great hair, great bod!!!! And great love story too!!!!!!!

2. The touching radio scene (on V-day)

3. Nice scenes of spain (tho rather limited)

4. Improvement in F4’s singing……Jue Bu Neng Shi Qu Ni and Yan Huo De Ji Jie were both great songs

5. Can’t decide if I like this or not, but it does liven up the draggy draggy scenes….the mentions of real life occurrences in MG2 --
Eg. Current DMS being a Xiao Bai Tu (little rabbit) vs the dragon of the past – corresponding to his real life nicknames xiao bai tu and bao long
Eg. Mei Zuo singing “Make A Wish” to wake Lei up – that’s actually part of Zai zai’s album in real life

6. Qing He’s new look – transformation from tu bao zi look to rather cool dreadlocks…

7. The final scene at the church with DMS and SC still calling each other ben dans and bai chis – its nice to know that some things will never change
8. More stuff about Xi Men and Mei Zuo…..we get to learn about Xi Men’s family life (note that his mom in MG2 is diff from the one in Xi Men Pian in Meteor Rain), and the Mei Zuo love story was a pleasant distraction from the weeping and dragging of the main love triangle bet Ye Sha, SC and DMS. Lei’s part in this love triangle is too small to be mentioned….grrrrr…..

9. Scene where Mei Zuo crept into Lei’s room to wake him up, that was pretty hilarious =)

10. Lastly, well one tends to grow fond of the (now familiar) characters…..having lived through the ups and downs of their lives…..=)

I think they are true soulmates/friends, but not quite suitable as a couple...
i mean, SC cries to Lei each time she has DMS trouble, and Lei's always there to be a listening ear, to help her out of all the scapes she gets herself into...

somehow, i don't see DMS being able to fulfil Lei's role as a good friend in SC's life...

so i think the "pighead" couple are better off together....and then SC can have a good friend on the side to be her emotional support....

omg i was looking around for this thread but i couldn't find it anyway yes I absolutely LOVED Meteor Garden!!! It was what got me into taiwanese dramas then chinese dramas in general. Since I live in the U.S. it's hard to learn chinese or improve chinese but ever since i've watched meteor garden i've been wishing to just go and live in taiwan and now i love listening to mandarin music.

I read the manga after I saw the series and it;s soo good too! although i did wish they acted out some of the parts from the manga they skipped like the beauty contest with san cai and trip to canada in the series.

i agree.. this is the best of all the best and my ultimate fave, when i saw this my obsession started... i so love them 1 and 2,, it's a household fame, i can truly relate to sanchai i so love ah si.. really nice, the plot is so nice i dunno i cried a couple of times especially when san chai is looking for ah si.. heart warming, though it amy be a common story but yet actors rocks, f4 and barbie, they started their careers there.... rainie, blacky and other stars. michelle and wendy.. for me that manga is the best.. i love it..

Yeup~ I'm totally for this! MG was and still is a classic!!! <333 To me, I know it'll always be the best. I know it's not the "best" drama series, but I have so much sentimental attachment with MG. And besides, I still think it's a genius of a drama series. =D

Not only am I *still* obsessed with the drama - the characters, the storyline, even the j-anime/drama/manga, every single teeny tiny detail about MG, but it's what introduced me to everything Asian entertainment. I owe it so much. ^^

I don't think anyone can ever deny it was really the drama that sparked off this whol idol drama craze. I mean, even Korea's following the Taiwanese route by choosing Korean pop stars to act in these dramas.

All these serials based on mangas are definitely the results of the astonishing results of this drama.
