I figure only people in the US would find this useful =)

haha ok ok I guess people didn't get the joke,
you know people like to make fun of Texas A&M graduates (Aggies), usually taking shots at their intelligence, or lack of. Well this was a joke as well, but as you start reading it, you think it's serious and true, then the punch line comes at the end when they say the quarters (which the joke says are made by an A&M graduate) are being re-called, because they're nothing more than 2 dimes and a nickel duct taped together, get it? hahaha...ok maybe not. :/
It's like one of those "How many aggies/blondes/polish people does it take to screw in a lightbulb" type jokes.
I thought it was hilarious.
(note: The Texas quarter is just like any other quarter, they're not really 2 dimes and a nickel taped together, it was a joke)

Oh... A joke? Well.... I knew nothing about Texas A&M (don't even know what it stands for) so I didn't get the joke.
Also, I collect those special state quarters so I was reading your first post as if it were a real piece of news. I thought it was real useful information. :shy:

:lolabove: hahaha... good one, karen! :D 2 dimes and a nickel duct taped for a quarter... that's hilarious... even though it's just a joke, i can just visualize the imaginary quarter... jamming all the coin-operated devices. hahaha...

haha vunsin, i used to collect the quarters too....started coz of laundry and gave up after awhile coz they were taking so long to come up with the new state quarters! my friend's mom had been collecting for years, and she's still short coz some states just don't have quarters. or so people tell me...
anyhow, funny prank. *almost* got me there!
tho on hindsight the "new" quarter was about as believable as a solar powered torch. or wind powered fan. or submarine windshield wiper.

:hmm: roche, your friend's mom has been collecting those quarters for YEARS? :? Since when, exactly? I thought they only started this in 1999 or something. I have everything since 1999 (when I first came here).

well, 1999 till now (2004) IS 5 YEARS....maybe thats what he meant?
my coin collecting stint lasted for a grand total of 2 months maybe. haha. i think i got all the available states. then i gave up and used them all for laundry when the card swipe system broke down.
