(Renzhe): "Xiang yi chu huai jiu de mo pian" is often heard as "Xiang zhu ba jie de mo" ...豬八戒(Zhu ba jie in chinese means pig character from the Monkey King story)

《愛在西元前》：歌名聽成《愛值十元錢》？
(Ai zai xi yuan qian): The song title is often heard as "Ai zhi shi yuan qian"
The chinese translation to "Ai zhi shi yuan qian"means love is only worth 10 dollars...

《安靜》：“你要我說多難堪”聽成“難看”。
(An jing): "Ni yao wo shuo duo nan kan" is often heard as 難看(nan kan)
The pronounciation of both words in han yu pin ying is different...but people often heard it wrongly...
難看(nan kan) means ugly in chinese...

《最後的戰役》：“我留著陪你”聽成“我流著噴嚏”，

讓我們半獸人吃完了別犯困,there is no meaning to this sentence as they are words that are put togther as people heard them wrongly...

崇拜(chong bai) means idolise
離婚(li hun) means divorce....

yah, sometime i also hear wrongly. but the words that i made up myself are of higher standards than those mentioned. haha.... :yeah:

but actually not just for jay, for many songs, you can't really catch all the words correctly. it's just that jay has quite many fast songs, so the possibility of not catching the words correctly are much higher plus he did mumbles... :laughing:

But when one is singing, the pronunciation of the words changes so... it's not jay's fault. :blush:

Its really not Jay's fault even if he mispronounce a little...cos its hard to be pronouncing correctly when one is singing especially when Jay's songs are fast....
But the way he pronounce is very cute also...hahaha...

yeah, i agree... not only with jay, but with other artists too...
it's best to look at the lyrics while listening to the songs because you'll be
able to appreciate the songs more.

Personally even with "Yi Fu Zhi Ming," when I heard the first few lines of the song for the first time, I was thinking, "Cool! Jay is singing in Italian!"
Only when I saw the video and the lyrics did I realize that he wasn't; it was Chinese all along! :laughing: his pronunciation was just so foreign-sounding!

I guess that's just his singing style... but his mumbling is really nothing considering the beautiful melodies he pens and the absolutely beautiful message conveyed by his songs, right? :happy:

i think that those mispronunciations make jay so cute because no one is perfect. but man, some of those misunderstood lyrics were replaced with hilarious phrases!! honestly though, since i'm not fluent in mandarin, i wouldn't even know the difference between correctly pronounced and mispronounced lyrics. every time i get a new jay CD, i have to read the little lyrics booklet while i listen :bleh:

after hearing for the next few times, i realized i was wrong so i thought it was " wo hui fang zhe tai, rang hou wang zi ni"(I will put it down, then forget you). Till i saw the lyrics in the site, then i realized i was wrong not once but, TWICE! how sad is that?! :blush:

jay_angel - I don't think Jay checks this site out. It would be kind of interesting if he did. However, if he did, I am kind of curious to his reaction to the DL pass thing.

As for how Jay sings his songs, I think the fact that some of the words are hard to understand is just part of his style. Everyone has their own style. I guess this is his. I don't really mind it really. First of all, I am learning mandarin, so I don't get all of the words anyways, so its not much of a loss for me.

Random Note - My mom can barely understand some of his songs which I find rather amusing because her mandarin is 100000x better than mine...

hahaha....when singin along to ren zhe, i oso will sing the incorrect prounounciation as it goes better wif the tune of the song...i think most of the time they are being heard wrongly are because the lyrics have to adjust to the tune of the songs and thus being misunderstood( so its not jay's fault too :wink2: )....but some mistakes mentioned (like ke ai nu ren) have never crossed my mind before.... :happy:

If I knew how to speak Chinese I would care that he mispronounces words. I never knew he mumbles the lyrics. Until my friend (who knows Chinese), asked where to find lyrics because she was confused on what he was really saying. But i think that's cute, also, in qing tian, "deng dao fang qing(2) na tian" (i think in english fang qing means when the sun comes out or something) sometimes will hear wrongly as "deng dao fang qi(4) na tian" (fang qi means give up).. sorry for the bad translation, am too lazy to dig out the chinese character programme :oops:

Yes, I agree. Although Jay is a great artist and composer, his vocal is not that good. He seems to mumble when he sings. That's why sometimes I heard his lyrics wrongly. I remember when I heard Ti Tian for the first time and the is the part "Ke Nian Ke Bei Shen Lin Lu Di Dou Yi Cheng Ji Lu Pian".
I thought he was singing "Shen Jing Bing" (Crazy with the mind) when it comes to "Ji Lu Pian". And I was like o_O!!!! Why would he sing that???

its a dialect like cantonese which is widely used in HK. it is similiar to hokkien (actually it is hokkien right?) there are alot of dialect in chinese such as mandarin, cantonese, hokkien hakka teochew and etc

Sometimes you can't even hear what he said unless you look at this lyric and try to sing along or you have the karaoke version of the MV. Compare his voice with Fei Yu Chin's clear voice in Faraway.
