新報訊【記者翟翊】風靡華語歌壇的R&B“小天王”周杰倫將在今年再次發威,喜歡周杰倫的“倫迷”們將在猴年春節晚會上一睹周杰倫的“龍拳”風采 。

A reporter said that R&B king Jay chou will scale even greater heights this year. Those who like Jay Chou will be able to listen to his his version of long quan in the chinese year celebration...

 在“新新人類”中人氣正旺的周杰倫加盟春晚的消息無疑讓“倫迷”們雀躍不已。看
過周杰倫演唱會的朋友都會對他在《龍拳》中的演繹記憶猶深:

Jay's fans will be able to see him performing during the chinese new year celebration. Those who have been to his concerts...will know that the song long quan actually leaves a deep impression on others....

在央視的演播大廳,周杰倫會重施自己個唱中的伎倆嗎?周杰倫所屬的新力唱片的胡先生解開了謎團。“受場地的 影響,周杰倫不可能在現場有過大的肢體動作。

Will Jay retain his own style when singing during the celebration?? A representative from Jay's company said that due to the restrictions at the performing stage,it is not ppossible that Jay will display the set of long quan movements that he usually display....

此次他將用心演唱自己的歌曲,曾在《笑傲江湖》中飾演藍鳳凰的澳門演員李幸芷將在現場表演周杰倫親傳的正宗 ‘龍拳’。”

So he will put in more effort in singing the songs instead of doing the actions...someone else who is an actor will be performing the actual set of long quan instead....

The representative from Jay's company also said that last year Jay missed the chance of perfoming during the chinese new year celebration due to his unclear singing....So Jay's company accepted the request to re-record long quan to make it clea
rer...on the day of the performance, Jay will be mouthing the words and will not be singing live....By then everyone will be able to hear the new version of long quan clearly...

Haiz...i juz dun understand why the china officials so particular about the unclear singing...now Jay is like so restricted by them...haiz...
But i think we all look forward to listen to his new version of long quan...
Jay,jiayou!!

nope...during performance or concerts he dont usually lip sing...you can hear the difference as he will add his own lyrics and sometimes sing in a different melody...so you can hear that he is singing live...
Bt i dont like the fact that he has to lip sing juz to accomodate the china officials as they want a clear version no matter what...haiz...

BOO!!!

This sucks. It's a pity that Jay's company wants Jay to performe at during the chinese new year celebration...otherwise Jay wouldn't have to lip sing...and he wouldn't have to sing clearly...

That's too bad!!! They wanted Jay to lipsync!?!?!! *sigh*

Although the original of Long Quan is the best ever, I kinda wanna listen to the new one too. Wanna know what it's gonna be like?

But I know that Jay won't make us disappoint!!

yeah, i hate the fact that he´s lipsync.. but then again, i think pretty much all the singers on the celebration are doing that. i´ve watched the show almost every year (my mom insist on it) and every musicperformance sounds like playback

anyway, i´m pretty excited to hear the new version  kinda curious to hear how jay raps clearly. and by performing at the chinese new year celebration, he´ll probably gain even more mainland fans, since the celebration is a pretty big deal there.

errrrrrrrr lip syncing ?? that stinks T _ T
they so picky!!!!! why can't they just let jay sing in his style! it's really not a big deal that he mumbles, plus we're crazy about it!! :-x arrrrr!!
anyways, besides the pickyness - _ - im really anxious to hear the new version!!^^ wee weee wee!! :D

:-x now i wished that jay would just screw this festival and not perform there!! jay has always been a singer that insists on singing live no matter what the circumstance, even when he had a bad cold/flu. now he is forced to lip sync to a 'clearer' version of long quan!! i bet even jay himself is feeling crappy having to succumb to these chinese officials' dumb demands! and why can't he do his long quan moves? restrictions here and there ... this performance is just not worth all of jay's troubles!! thanks moonsilk for the news :flowers:

its disappointing that jay has to follow these instructions. i would prefer for him to sing and rap clearly for this one song rather than to lipsync to a pre-recorded version.

lipsync?! WHAT THE?!?!?!
Although the thought of the new version of long quan sounds great.. but still.. lipsync?! ARGH. Damn the china officials! And they even got a actor to display his long quan actions?! Are they mad or what?! Long quan belongs to Jay and jay alone! and THAT includes the display actions for it! WHY THE HELL MUST THEY DO TT?!

By the way, anyone knows what ch is will be broadcasted on?

yeah, its so unfair of those conservative so called higher rank official in china to FORCE jay to sing a new version of long quan, if they really cant accept him as him then they can just be like last year, cut him off from the celebration, but this time it seems they invited jay again all becoz his demand is too huge, i think that jays fans which is such a large population now as we can see his popularity after non stop concerts in china. and jay can insist on his own original way of NOT singing long quan clearly as its rap, rap isnt meant to be clear, but then again........jay wants his music to be appreciated by a larger circle of ppl, he has his vision , probably if he agrees to changing his style for this one huge occasion those older generation ppl or higher rank officials will hav a better perspective of him, that jay isnt all that stubborn and rebellious, u know ....all the while those ppl didnt seem to like him, they complaint of him so much even little thing like his way of singing and his fav word....so giving these old conservative ppl a chance to understand that jay is actually a very nice person, not the way they used to perceived him to be ,as rebellious or stubborn or whatever.......that way, only his music can hav a chance to truly prevail not just among the young but perhaps among the older ppl as well.

i think jay agreeing to produce another version of long quan all becoz he wanted more ppl to accept him....i hope we all here can understand his motive behind, though yeah, we always accepted jay the way he is......actually ,i think jay himself probably dont even like the idea of lip singing long quan coz thats so unreal already, but.....i can see that he appreciates this chance to perform......and hope that we all here can understand him too.

What is the importance of Jay for being there if he is there only to LIPSYNC??? That's just so...weird. Well if the Mainland China's authorities want it that way...then...pity him...
I just hope this is the first and the last for him to do lipsync on stage and not 'being himself'. I want Jay to be Jay.
But, of course, I wanna hear his new, clear version of Long Quan. Sounds interesting...

So Jay has to redo his long quan version afterall.
Those organiser really too much! It must be pretty strange to hear the clear version of Long Quan, but since Alfa has already decided to go ahead with it. I hope the things turn out well for Jay :wink2:

What a shame ... that he can't use his actual voice to sing. I hope he's gonna do some dance stint to make up for that, though. Otherwise, it's gonna be really embarrassing.

And why is he gonna be in China to perform during Chinese New Year instead of his homeland in Taiwan? Then I guess we won't be able to catch him on TV.

poor jay cannot stand against the billion fans masters - 'cos i am sure the real fans in china accepted him but the masters in charge of public media unfortunately calls the shots , so everybody loses in this show - jay's fans who will be disappointed , jay who will be frustrated and those bs---- will look really like bs---- to the whole world .

thought they say on the tv that they are letting jay sing LIVE? hmm... werid. never mind, as long as jay did his best in his own style, i think anything is ok. haha

If I were him, I won't do that lipsync thingy! But I think they can't deny them instead of denying to sing that.

Well.. I'm looking forward to new version of Long quan too

I just watched it! :excited:

Jay did a diao version of it. He did some falsettos, like he did on the blue power concert. But the falsettos were higher this time. The higlight of the performance though was Jay's little bit of breakdancing. :D My eyes grew wide when he began dancing. And then on the last part of the song, he cartwheeled!!! :excited: Long Quan's power definitely shone on this concert.

And one more thing, Long Quan was definitely CLEARER! :wink2:

i just watched it too....it was quite good!all of the singers had to lip sync..waited for 3 hours plus for jay to appear...he looked so diao...yea it was clearer though..almost not jay-ish...weird..it was kinda slower i think..coz he had to sing it clearly..but there's also this turntable sound jay did..soo diao..he also did some kung fu moves..wow..sooooo diao..

i think that Jay did a good job, but i kinda felt that he wasn´t quite himself. and the outfits of the dancers were kinda ugly...
"long quan" was much clearer, but i like the original version better, it´s much more Jay..and they changed some lyrics of the song, too.

but i do agree with kahel, i loved the cartwheel Jay did!!
and as always, it´s a pleasure to see Jay perform, he reallu put some effort into this performance  go Jay!

I waited for two hours at my uncle's house just to watch his performance, and I was... quite disappointed.

Firstly, did anyone notice that in the beginning when he came out he was saying something into the microphone but there was no sound????? It looked like he was rapping something but we couldn't hear a single thing. For the love of my sanity, WHY???? What the heck is the purpose of a live performance if the singers lip-sync?????

Second, I agree with someone's comment that his outfit looked weird. If he'd worn the pao he wore during his The One concert (the red dress-like thing with the yellow dragon in front) it would've been much better.

Third, the song simply sounded weird. And I couldn't get over the fact that he wasn't singing live. And yeah, the gongfu lady with the sword was damn chu pattern! (As in 'extra'.) Her moves didn't go with the music at all!

But other than those complaints, it was nice seeing him perform, however not very nice it was. And I agree with comments made about the cartwheel, I was so surprised when he did that! And his hair was nice too so it's not all bad. :)

I saw this. One last night and one just now. I was kind of disappointed because he lipsynced it and didn't sing live. Good choice for a song though because of Chinese New years. That girl was pretty cool too. It was my first time seeing Jay live on my very own tv. I was quite happy~ :)

And then on the last part of the song, he cartwheeled!!! :excited:

What??????!!!!!!!!! He did the cartwheel and I actually missed it?! Gosh ... now I'm dying to watch it.

i found this (http://ent.sina.com.cn/r/i/2004-01-22/1509284897.html) on sina.com. it´s really interesting, just basically someone dissing china officials for making Jay rerecord Long Quan. my chinese isn´t so good, but the writer says that "Jay´s creativity was murdered" etc. i think the writer had some good points there, so check it out if you want to

hisashiluv14: i noticed that too. and just after the 1st verse, before the chorus, when Jay usually improvises his rap, (like makes turntable sounds etc.) he looked like he was saying something into his mic, but there was no sound! playback sucks! personally, i think that cctv/china officials raped Long Quan.. the original version was much better

Sparkling_Jade, i saw a similar response in a news article. the comment was that jay has been changed. i haven't checked out the clip yet. should do that this weekend. hmmm... for playback, i think they keep the artists' mics turned off? :? so, maybe that's why it might have looked like jay was trying to say something, but there wasn't any sound.

Aww...he has to restrict himself so that the govt officials are satisfied...that's soo wrong. What's a singer if they can't do what they want to express? That's just weird.

But I've heard the song. It's CLEAR...but it doesn't sound like Jay...not that I'm disappointed. It's just weird!! It's way too clear LOL...maybe it's just my ears? Or maybe the recording...

01-24-2004, 01:46 PM
Thanks for the link Sparkling_Jade. That's a forum right? Too lazy to scan through all the Chinese words... haha. But I agreed fully with the writer of that comment. Asking him to lip-sync, not to mention "rap clearly" (yeah right! the new version is still as mumbly as ever!), is clearly murdering his style. I mean, he looked so awkward lip-syncing and it was obvious that he wanted to do some live rapping, which is like, totally understandable, considering it was a LIVE PERFORMANCE.

And in this (http://ent.sina.com.cn/r/i/2004-01-22/1503284894.html) post, somebody commented, "since you're letting Jay Chou perform, then you shouldn't be so full of yourself as to change his song completely. I don't understand what chinese opera singers sing about, but it's still enjoyable all the same, a national treasure."

Seems like many other people are miffed about the whole re-recording of Long Quan thing. I hope that when they invite him to perform again next year, they won't repeat the same mistake. Bleah. Stupid cheena people.

Yeah. I think they turned off the mic too, which should explain the no-sound thing. Gad, I was so mad when I saw that! But I really dug the turntables effects he did so it wasn't all that bad. Would've been tons better if he did it live though. :(

i am disappointed by the revised song . must admit that jay's mubling is part of his singing skill and this slower /clearer version is uninspiring . lit-sync is so unjay but he really tried to put something special into the show - breakdancing and flip-flop . those back-ground dancers were like statues - why put them there if they are going to stand still only ? that wushu girl - so strange , jay singing halfway and then making way for her act !

I saw that performance on tv and yah agree that the sudden appearance of the girl doing the sword dance thingy din really fit in. Anyway for most of the other performancers, there were a whole bunch of dancers too, not only for Jay, just that they looked the weirdest.

yea, I agree...I waited 4 hours for Jay's performance so it was really disappointing...

1. He lip-synced
2. His outfit didnt match
3. the girl was really extra
4. he did a cartwheel! hehe I seriously didnt expect him to do that!

I liked vicky zhou and A-Do's song better
