I honestly think wif the rate at which Pres Chou's life must go, he shud take some time wif his music. I mean sure, go direct and act and whatever, but if you have no time for music please slow down, i'm willing to wait 2 or 3 years for an album if it meant a better sound.
What about you guys? Wud u be willing to wait a bit longer in between each album if it meant a better sound?

I agree with you, and I think I've been pretty clear about that recently. Sorry, guys, I don't want Jay to release an album every year. He's really let the quality go, IMO, and if he needs to take more time to find his inspiration, remember why he wanted to be a singer-songwriter in the first place, then he should take that time.
I know the whole acting/directing thing is just too enticing for him and if he's going to let that go, it won't be anytime soon. That being said, he doesn't have the time to work on his albums that he used to, so he needs to take more time to think things through and come up with something new and innovative. Releasing an album each year at this point is bad for himself as an artist.
It makes me feel kind of torn when he comes out with another album that wasn't as good as his first bunch, since Jay is the artist that made me fall in love with Chinese music and I want to forgive him when he makes mistakes. *Sigh*

I don't really mind. As long as he's producing a good, unique album every so often and working hard on his music and career, I'll be satisfied. When someone tries too hard to reach an expectation based on time continuously, the results may not turn out well. Sometimes though, they are amazing.

I did like the rate he was going at before.. 1+ years before a new album
but what other's have said is right: quality > quantity
and he's got all his movies etc. so our jay fix isn't diminishing
and plus, we can take time to listen to some of his older songs. relive the memories !
then learn the lyrics to all of them so you can sing them at K haha :sing:

Yeah I agree that he should take his time and not force things.. however, I have to admit that I'm really happy that he releases an album a year ;) selfish, I know.

Recently our dear jay seems to be appearing on the big screens more often and I have a very huge bad feeling about his upcoming album this year. With so many movies, drama on hand, do you think he has time to compose new music?
But without the motivation, knowing that he would release an album each year, it is quite bad. We have to admit, though the old songs can accompany us but still..... I know we all get it.

well if you think he's rushing it, he's apparently pretty good at it, the yearly albums always have some gems in it :-)

personally i think he should release an album every yr per usual because i can't wait that long! lol..
but i really think that he should focus more on his music rather than the films and stuff that he seems to be working on right now.. because music is his raw talent (not saying that he can't act lol.. i loved 'secret' =P) so he should just stick to that more
quality of his albums are important which is why he should stop filming and start singing!

yeah but he's using alot more filler songs now, even though there may be gems in his albums now, he never used to have any filler songs

don't know bout you all, but for me, I just can't wait for his new songs.... lol
I don't think that Jay have to release an album each year. Yes, Jay is a singer, music is what made him famous, so what? Does that mean, he can't pursue his other interests? I've always felt that you should always do what you like to do and not what others expect of you. Perhaps the standard in his latter albums haven't been as high as in his earlier works, because his heart isn't in it right now? That's why the public should let him do whatever he wishes to do, and when he wants to, he can return to music. I would definitely prefer to see him spend as long as he needs to make one great album than one mediocre album per year. Jmo.

i guess we kinda got used to him releasing every year so we're looking forward to an album every year.
personally, i want him to release an album THIS year. just because I'm in a country where people know him and where his music is widespread. I want to experience getting his album and being crazy with other people and not having to preorder abroad everytime.
I don't think he should feel pressured to release an album every year; while it's nice, he should do it whenever he feels he's made something worth releasing, rather than hastily putting something together to meet his quota.
