Brief Summary:
Isabella Swan, an average 17 year old girl leaves the sunny Phoenix to a wet state in Forks, Washington to live with her Dad. Bella enrolled in school when she meets a pretty, pale-looking boy, Edward Cullen for the first time in her life in the school’s canteen with his ‘brothers and sisters’. Edward’s outer appearance was too glorious, too beautiful for a boy.
However, Edward was totally different from other boys in school that she met. He was different, too different to be true. And without thinking, Bella found herself falling unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. But the love was like a forbidden fruit, once you bite it, no turning back. To Edward, Bella was the soul mate that he waited a century for; he would take all his strength and everything to keep the uninvited ‘friends’ from her.

A forbidden love between a vampire and a mortal.

Acting:
Let’s cut the chase and get into business.

I would say that Robert Pattison has done quite a good job for a romantic vampire, Edward. The features on his face, stood out among his Cullen family which says the pretty vampire boyish look. And also, the sharp and wide eyes he has whenever he looks at Bella. He made a sacrifice but getting his teeth fixed for the movie too. The crooked smile which mesmerized every girl in the cinema seats as well as I, helps to re-emphasize the acting of his; through the snarling of vampires, the gritting of teeth when angry, it helps Robert Pattison portrays Edward in a better way.

Kristen as Bella, what an average 17 year old, I must say. A typical kind of 17 year old, curious and obnoxious as well stubborn, I would say Kristen did brought-out the type of Bella I read from the novel.

Cullen family, they look too beautiful, to gracious for a family of vampire. But, they did well.

Cam as James, WOW. That’s the only word I could say. He made my spine shiver even when it’s board day light. His eyes and the way he acted made him look terribly like a bloodsucker.

Rachelle as Victoria, she’s the one with the wicked curved ball. She is not as scary as James, but she just has that x-factor that made her look equally like a vampire.

Soundtrack:
I never loved a motion soundtrack as much as I love Twilight’s. I am not a big fan of English music. However, Muse caught my breath. The music that they used in the movie, just enhance the whole thing. I can’t explain much, just listen to it.
A track that I would recommend is Muse – Supermassive Black Hole.

Cinematography:
The scenes are mostly in rainforest areas, and they used the original place in Forks, which made everything more into place. Don’t really have the fake kind of feeling. It’s just real.

Overall:
Impressive. Sends thrills and chills down your spine. Watch it.

they have admitted that this is a low budget film... but it has turned out well if you ask me...as for the actors...rob pattinson is a good choice for edward but kristen as bella... hmmm, she doesnt look clumsy... and i still cant imagine her on breaking dawn once she becomes a vampire
not exactly of the book but i think had a good adaptation and good for those who has not read the book yet...
but if you have the chance, i still suggest that you read it first before watching, so you can fully appreciate it more....:-)

Yeah, this low budget film turned out pretty well. But one thing i didn't like about the movie was the casts. Like Robert doesn't even look like how they described in the book..... I think he doesn't fit to act in such a role. Kristen as Bella? I think she looks too old and dry. Oh well... But the movie was pretty good although it lasted for around 2 hours. But i definitely have to admit that the book was so much better than the movie.

For those who watched the movie and haven't read the book before, you must get the book. It's better than the movie. :-)

Thanks for the review Corrie!!

I haven't read the books yet but I love the cast...maybe after reading the first book I'll have my doubts about Edward or Bella but so far I like them as the lead characters + they look so cute together...great couple! Altho I have to say Bella is quite serious and sometimes like a bit slow? I don't know if that's suppose to be Bella's personality tho.

I also loved the soundtrack, especially the two songs written by Rob, I didn't know he could sing that good...he is a very talented guy.

I think the story was well told...altho I think they edited and changed some parts as usual.

Okay, so since this is the critics.review thread, theeen, ill be completely honest with what i thought of the movie.

Honestly, even though I love the Twilight series, i have to say this movie was, well, quite a laugh for me.

It sucked. The acting, the effects (especially when they were flying around in the studio. Honestly wtf?). Especially KRISTEN STEWART. Sure, she might be pretty, but all i saw in her were her bored expressions.

Rob Pattinson's american accent is weird. i know he's british and everything, but it still kind of sucks. it sounded kind of latino to me. and he looked like he was suffering from PMS cramps the whole time.

the cast might have the LOOKS. but that doesnt mean the acting was good.

the two characters that stood out to be a LOT were alice and carlisle. MAN they blew me away. especially when alice entered the cafeteria with jasper and she was just twirling around (=. her voice is very pixie and bell - like. magical, i would say. carlisle is DAMN HOT and his acting was very impressive.

jackson rathbone just looked like he was in pain.

overal, the movie wasn't so good. i just hope they'd extend the deadline for new moon so that they can show the world a great adaptation. plus, the director changed sooo im keeping my fingers crossed real tightly.

alrighto, said what i wanted to say about twilight. but eh, for people who haven't seen it, eh well my taste is different than most people so...

I agree a lot with Sam. Wholeeeeeheartedly. (No, Sam, you're not that weird. But then again, it might be cos I'm weird too.) I went in to watch the movie before I became a fan. (Though it was after I read Twilight.) So I'd say I'm pretty unbiased about this whole thing.

Firstly... Acting. Why did I give it 2? Because 1 went to Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen aka The Vampire Dad) and the other 1 went to Billy Burke (Charlie Swan aka the Human Dad). I felt that Facinelli did a good job as the all-revered and knowledgeable man who is perfectly in control of himself and had an air of authority around him without being arrogant or over-confident of himself. (Of course, he looked fantastic *purr* with that fair skin and light hair. Pulled it off really well.) Burke was subtle but his expressions and all were enough. If there was a reason why I enjoyed the movie like I did, it would only be because of the two of them.

After reading Sam's review, I realized that I forgot about Ashley Greene, who is Alice Cullen in the movie. That was great casting too, along with Facinelli & Burke. The rest of the casting was... bland, in my opinion. And I don't say this because they don't look good or anything. Most of them were relatively fine, but half of them couldn't carry off the vampire light-skinned look. And most of them can't exactly act for nuts. I don't really feel any deep emotions or anything. (I cried while watching Bolt, but not while watching this. Seriously.) Kristen (Bella) looked like she didn't know what she was doing, like she was thinking MANNN i picked the wrong movie. T__T And Robert (Edward) was, well, I think I shall just rewatch Cedric (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) around ten million times to get over this. Kellan Lutz was... yeah he looks alright for his part, except I think Emmett seems to be a cleverer person. -.- Jackson (Jasper Hale) was... terrified. He obviously didn't know what he was doing either. -.- Elizabeth Reaser (Esme) looked lost half of the time. Nikki was haughty enough to be Rosalie. Bella's classmates were casted pretty well though. Taylor (Jacob) was... okay, honestly, he appeared for like what, a total of five minutes?! He's got that tribal look, but I haven't been able to see much of his personality in the movie yet.

Second, music and sound. I gave it a three mostly because of the bands included in the soundtrack. Fantastic bands with fantastic music. Just that, half of them don't really fit in the movie. (Honestly, I feel bad for some of them. Oops.)

Third, story and plot. Yes, I know Twilight wasn't written in great detail. But that doesn't mean the same should go for the movie. The first half was too draggy, second half too rushed. If it's two hours long, HELLO! I'm sure there's more than enough time for character and plot development!

Fourth, watch it again has 2 points because I wouldn't mind watching Carlisle and Charlie again. I personally like Jackson Rathbone a lot, but no way I'll watch this just for him. His hotness ain't enough to draw me to it.

Honestly, New Moon & Eclipse & especially Breaking Dawn deserve A WHOLE LOT more than this. I'm glad they changed the director. Now, change the scriptwriter/ casting director and the sequels will be in good hands. (Hell, just grab some HP/ LOTR people to work on this. I'm sure they can do some magic.)

i read the book before watching the movie and was actually very excited to see it on the big screen, but i was extremely disappointed with everything..

i thought the acting was pretty bad and the special effects were cheesy.. i was really excited to see how the director was going to recreate the scene when edwards shows his diamond/sparkly body but i was ssSsoOoo disappointed..

another super cheesy part of the movie was how edward carries bella around on this back... gosh couldn't they have recreated that scene a bit better.. it looked like a cavemanish and unromantic.. LOL

OMG>> and don't even get me started on the really bad make-up.. what's up with rosalie's hair?!?

halfway through the movie i wanted it to be over already and knowing how much more i had to go i was tempted to walk out.. but since i went with some friends and my bf who i dragged with me to watch it and movies now a days cost like $678569 i just sucked it up and finished the whole thing..

i crossing my fingers for the next one.. hopefully it's better

I loved it! It was a low budget but good movie for the beginning of the book. There was really not that much interesting in the first book, but I can't wait for the second movie! I get to see Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black more so I am uber excited!! He is hot...Edwards cool too but I really like Taylors ripped abs! All the books were good. Definitely go buy it. The cast was good too, i thought they all fit well with the movie. Carlisle is hot and Esme is really pretty. I like Jasper and Emmet as well in the movie. Overall...I think the casting was fantastic. I can totally picture them when Im reading the books. Its awesome! Cant wait for New Moon!:bleh:

I've watched the movie but haven't read the book yet, I thought the movie was quite good, I did find a few things that were quite cheesy, like edwards goes all sparkly in the sun, lol, I laughed at that part. My friends read the book first before the movie, most said the books were better but I think it really depends, if you watch the movie first, might find it's better than the book. I watched the trailer for New Moon and it looked pretty good, it's coming out in 3 weeks, already bought my ticket! hopefully it won't disappoint.
